"Definitely." Jimmy says to Thomas. To Gwen he says, "Shall we go get you that wand now?"
"That would be nice. You think it will really help us? For it costs really a lot of money. I've never owned something that expensive before. And it's only good for how many uses?" Gwenhwyfar asks as she gets doubts. "I still have to get used to this kind of strategy and fighting stuff."
"Well I don't know what this wand does exactly. What did you say it did?"
Tauriell looks up from her sword. "You get used to everything. This time you think this is a expensive thing and think about the price before using it. Next thing you know Abomentolor will be throwing around fireballs worth more a piece than your whole wand."
"I'm looking forward to that one." Abomentolor comments.
"Then lets go and buy that thing." Gwenhwyfar states marching out and towards the gnome's magic shop.
"I shall slowly clunk after you my dear."
So the party walks trough the streets to the upper town again and enters the 'Everything Magic'
"Oh, you're back again. You decided to take the wand? Lini asks.
"Yes please." Gwenhwyfar replies and starts to count out the money. When she's done she says to Jimmy "Now I'm almost broke. You have to pay for me from now on."
"Are we done now. I could use some food." Tauriell asks.
"That is a great idea." Lini replies. "I will close the shop early and go to the grilled oxen. If you want you can come too. My treat. I always wanted to go in there and order a whole oxen just for me and see the stupid face of that waiter." Lini tells with a mischievous grin. "You just would have to wait until the oxen is served, then you can come to my table and help me eat it."
"I never say no to a free meal! Abomentolor says.
"You might to have to reconsider that. There are definitely people in this world I would not sit at a table with. But not in this case. And Gwen wouldn't have to prepare another stew for us. Count me in." Tauriell replies.
"That would indeed be an nice ending for this eventful day. Just sitting in a restaurant and relaxing." Gwenhwyfar says with a pleased smile.
"It is settled then. You just follow a few minutes after me and take a table close by and enjoy the show." Lini explains. She then shoos everyone out of the shop and locks it up with three different keys and activating the alarm with a codeword.
Lini leads all down two blocks where in a small park with oak trees is the 'Grilled Oxen' the delicious scent of grilled beef lets almost everyone's mouth water. There are large tables made of slices of a large tree trunk. as chairs there are smaller tree trunk parts. Everything rather rustic.
Lini walks in and takes a seat at one of the tables.
Along comes the waiter. In fake polite tone he asks "Hello. What can I bring you. Maybe a bowl of salad. We have quite the selection. Even one that would match you hair."
Tauriell walks by the waiter and catches most of what he says. She looks at Lini if she should intervene with this guy.
Gwenhwyfar walks with Jimmy to the next table and sits down. "Do you think this will get funny?"
There are several large grills and the restaurant seems to be equipped to cater several hundred people if needed. But it's still early and only two of the grills are operating. There are small groups sitting at the tables here and there. Maybe 30 persons all in all.
Abomentolor walks to the grills. He sits down to watch the flames. "Is that oxen already done. For I guess it has a date somewhere soon." he asks the guy tending to the grills.
Lini almost unnoticable shakes her head at Tauriell.
"Haha. Very funny. Almost as much as the first hundred times."
"I'll take an ale, some bread and a grilled oxen"
"Are you old enough? You know we don't serve ale to kids. Haha." the waiter amuses himself. "Ok, so it's an ale, a bread and some of the oxen."
"No it's not some of the oxen. It's a oxen. I want that whole thing there on the grill." Lini states with a grin from one ear to the other.
"Don't be silly. You can't eat that." and leaves the table to fetch her order.
After a few minutes he comes back with a bread, an ale and a piece of oxen on a plate and puts it before Lini. "Bon apetit." he says and turns to walk away.
Lini is devastated. Not only does this sleazebag joke about her he also ignores her orders for a meal. That's not the fun she imagined. That's not funny at all.
As sleazebag turns around he almost runs into Tauriell who stands there cleaning her fingernails with a dagger. "I was invited here for a feast. I was promised a grilled oxen. Whom do I have to kill to get what I was promised."
"Haha, very funny." the waiter replies and walks past Tauriell.
While sitting next to Gwen Jimmy oversees all that transpires,"My good sir" Jimmy calls the waiter over, "Would you mind telling me why an establishment that seems to be as fine as this treats their customers with such disdain. You see I am curious, it is simply good business practice to sell someone what they ask for.
"You see no one takes me seriously either." she says to Lini shrugging. Then she hinders the waiter in his further movement.
by hitting him square in the face with her fist. "Oops. I think we might need a new waiter."
The waiters lights go out and he takes a horizontal position on the ground .
But the little dispute with the waiter didn't go unnoticed. The owner of the establishment comes over with a poker in hand. "What's going on here."
"You waiter refused to serve our friend here what she ordered, and then was incredibly disrespectful to the lady who just floored him. She may have gone somewhat too far, but you certainly should be employing people who treat your clients as badly as he did, and who loose you massive sales."
Tauriell turns around and chuckles as the stubby guy comes towards her sweat on his forehead. "Thank you Jimmy. You're much more diplomatic than I am."
"So what he said. There is still no oxen on that table and I'm hungry." She takes a seat besides Lini.
Looking at the company the owner sweats even more. The elf with a huge blade a mace and a dagger on her belt, huge bow on her back. Some guy in heavy armor. He's not going to argue with them. "So you want one more portion of oxen?" he asks.
"Our friend ordered an oxen, not a portion, AN. That is what we would like please." Jimmy explains
"Yes. I ordered a whole oxen, some bread and ale. Please bring that and keep it coming until I and all my friends here are full to the brim." She takes out ten gold and places them on the table. "That should be enough for that."
The owner is relieved that the situation resolved that way he even smiles as he sees that this will be serious business. "Your order will be here in a minute." he replies. On his way back he kicks the knocked out waiter in his behind.
Shortly after that two strong women carry over the whole oxen from the grill still on the spit. The owner follows them with half a dozen mugs of ale. "The plates and cutlery will come next. If anything is missing, just wave your hand and I will come to see personally that your wishes are fulfilled. Please take my apologies for the disrespectful behaviour of this man. It will not happen again."
He takes the coins from the table and with a bow leaves again. The two women grab the legs and arms of the waiter and bring him out of the park somewhere into the building behind the grills.
"I guess from now on I will enjoy the visits to my favorite restaurant even more." Lini says with a genuine smile. "And to see someone stand up to him and make him pay is like eating desert first." she adds lifting her mug towards Tauriell. "Thanks for your support" she says to Jimmy and Tauriell.
"Well that guy did treat you like garbage, so I can't say I feel sorry for him."
Tauriell cuts out a big chunk of meat at the ribs. "If you have more of these guys in your life just tell me. There is always a dark alley. Even in Naos."
"Thank you for the offer, but I think I'm fine for now. I might come back to that someday."
"But tell me. You seem used to fighting. What are you doing for a living?"
"Gwen and I are pathfinders, the others are just along for the ride."
"He is really a nice and helpful guy." Abomentolor states. "But more often than not he hasn't read the latest memo." he says putting his wayfinder on the table.
Gwenhwyfar chuckles. Whispering she tells Jimmy "He got that at the meeting where you got yours too."
"Wow. That is cool. The pathfinders! You know something about constructs? I try to build one but there is something important missing and I can't get my hands on the information."
"I'm always trying to create something new. Magic, or alchemical. I'm interested in everything." Lini tells her excitement showing in her face and her overbearing gesturing.
"I don't know what you're talking about. But I could look it probably up in the library at Mrs. Heidmarch's meeting house." Gwenhwyfar replies. "But it would help if you were a bit more specific about what you need to know."
"Sure. But I can't do that now. I will write something tomorrow narrowing it down. I'll give you what I do and you can check in the library what I'm missing. For now I promised you a feast. Not more work."
"I need to dial my enthusiasm a bit down. Now we eat. More experimenting on another time. But thank you for the offer."
"I'll drink to that." Tauriell comments.
