Hey, I just realized Marcus's player is also vying for the other PbP in excitedly hoping to get into. Here's hoping Kella and Ked both get picked.
Edmund the Tainted
Yeah... Yeah, me too, but I'm holding out hope. GM gave an update said finals and holidays were holding him up and he should be back to normal after, but ...Yeah :-(
I just really wanna play an all goblin game. So many shenanigans!
Edmund the Tainted
Oh, I can't wait to play this out. Fair warning - I'm pretty sure, if given the opportunity, there will be a child with one less hand and a bar full of pissed off people.
HELLKNIGHTS!!!
I will leave an out, ooc I'm not a monster.
IC, though, well, you don't get that LE tag by being Mr nice guy
Leandric Scrivan
Following the law is good but chopping a kid's hand off is rather harsh and not to mention unlawful. Edmund is not the proper authority and is not in any position to judge or execute a sentence.
Basically Leandric would step aside if the mob comes after you. You'd be an idiot, just like the kid, and just like the kid that has consequences.
Now if Leandric were to sentence the kid would end up in indentured servitude till he paid off the 20 gold, no matter if it's recovered.
Edmund the Tainted
Harsh is kinda the Hellknights modus operandi, and why everyone hates them.
Actually my plan is to ask what the standard punishment for theft is and kind of roll with it. Place is full of guards, dedication isn't idiocy.
I mean, 14 wisdom is enough to know not to chop a kid's hand off IN a bar full of people. (But a genuine HK probably would do it, as they consider themselves the proper authority wherever they are, and believe in absolute unbending rules for all - Seriously it's that kind of attitude that leads people to hating them.)
Leandric Scrivan
Yeah, but it's just the Order of the Scourge that believes in very harsh punishment for even minor crimes and would formulate their own sentences.
The other Orders are stern but tend to be more sensible when it comes to normal lawbreaking outside of their focus. They'd consider themselves proper authority but would judge according to the exact letter of local laws. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if most Hellknights would simply hand the kid over to the city guard or other authority so they can continue to focus on the mission of their Order.
Then again, Edmund does not have proper Hellknight education and probably misses the nuances of the position of the Hellknights.

Vigilantism aside, Hiram is mainly concerned with not pissing off Lady Dressarosa. As a professional, he is very keenly aware that we are supposed to be a diplomat's envoy.
He is definitely not happy that Edmund is putting his own agenda ahead of the mission.

I looked up the Nail, and it seems hard to figure out what their goal is, besides, well, being in Korvosa. Oppress the natives, I guess, seems to be the most of it. Tame the frontier.
Anyway, he stole from Ed personally. That kind of earns one special attention.
Seems the most likely thing would be to follow through and make sure the kid actually gets punished. I have a feeling a kid stealing from a foreign Tiefling would get a slap on the wrist, and that would be pretty insulting to Ed.

I think their creed sums it up quite nicely: "Savagery must be quelled, in the land, home, and mind."
That basically means keeping the barbarians (both human and non-human) at bay, and pushing them back to make room for civilisation when needed; defending the frontier settlements from lawlessness, bringing in brigands and others who prey on such communities; and making sure that native influences don't bring down civilisation from within, encouraging the locals to embrace the colonists' way of life.
The last bit is probably also meant to remind the Hellknights not to succumb to savagery themselves, and remain 'civilised' in the face of the wild.
I'm just about to play a Hellknight of the Nail in another PbP game, so I've been thinking about this quite a lot recently. :P
Edmund the Tainted
Well, yeah, if you notice I've been trying to convey his inner struggle. It's a theme I've been working on with his internal monologues.
You'll notice, for example, Ed put aside the fact he was a subject of mockery as soon as he realized the man didn't have to tell him he was robbed, and actually did him what was, in his mind, a kindness.
Hiram Ahiram
Yeah, out of character I'm totally digging how you're playing Edmund. I think we'll get some good roleplaying out of this.
I do have a feeling that Shoanti was not trying to be kind, though. :P

Oh, I know he wasn't. Still seemed the be the right way to address the situation IC. When you're a Tiefling, people laugh at you. If you stab everyone who makes fun of you, you go to jail and have a long trip on a short rope. So the best thing to do is address the one positive thing. Again, he didn't have to point it out.
Leandric Scrivan
Leandric just wants this situation resolved. Both overreacting and ignoring the situation would reflect badly on the mission and their charge while proper handling could be a boon.
If it's up to him they apprehend the thief and then turn him over to local law enforcement, which the inn is filled with.
Edmund the Tainted
It's just a game. I was looking forward to it continuing, but someine in pain, even mental, shouldn't do anything thst aggravates that pain. Feel well. Sent you a PM. Hopefully spirits will still be excited to continue when you're ready.

Edmund (presumably since I was not told otherwise) finding his cash [...]
Before Edmund gets much of a chance to search the girl, a trio of Korvosan Guard come out.
I think that's your answer.

Son of a gun.

Was already handing her over as I asked casually...but since you pointed out I didn't get my money...
Sorry, tone is sometimes hard to interpret in play-by-post. Besides, I think we were kind of hoping Edmund would get a bit agressive. Where's the fun if we all get along amiably? :P

I'm picturing Marcus like the little Yakuza guy on the Simpsons episode where Marge bought protection from the Mafia for her pretzel business.
"Homer, we need to go inside"
"But Marge! That little guy is just standing there...he's gonna do something cool. Oooh, look at him! He's just standing there while everyone fights!"
"Homer!"
(They walk inside, outside is heard "HEEEEYAAAAAAH!" and Homer looks incredibly sad.)
Hiram Ahiram
Hiram is ready to move on, unless someone is dying to strike up a conversation with him. :P
His main concern is getting everyone back to the base before Lady Dressarosa is supposed to arrive.
Hiram Ahiram
Yes, I did see that. I'm glad to see that Kharijite is getting some love from Paizo. The new Campaign Setting book on Cheliax is supposed have some info on the region, as well. I really need to get that book...

Do not channel Algus. Do NOT channel Algus. DO NOT CHANNEL ALGUS!
Do you have any idea how hard it was, after having beaten Final Fantasy Tactics like 40 times, to NOT call the drunkard a common animal not worth our time? No, Ed is not Algus. Stop it. The honor angle was a good route...I think.
