Map of Korvosa I also fully acknowledge that I'm ripping off someone else's hard work for this. I simply consider this a sign of approval.

If Rego worked in Egorian that would also work, yes. My character was pretty much stuck there and would not have travelled beyond what he could traverse within a day.

Cuan, that seems like a good connection for Edmund to me. I actually like that there might be some bigoted people even in the Hellknights trying to prevent his entry, but forced to allow him to try because of legal loopholes, etc. That's a nice touch!

I thought about Inquisitor but I don't think it really fits. For starters my character is very secretive about his devotion and being a divine caster kind of goes against that. I also don't think his relation to his patron is suitable for it. He worships Titivilus because he does what he does, he doesn't do those things because he worships Titivilus. And lastly, I view him more as an intelligent man than a wise man. Besides that, he also pays homage to several other infernal lords and gods when engaging in specific pursuits (Asmodeus, Baalzebul, Dispater, Mammon and Norgorber come to mind).

Fair enough. True piety is hard to come by these days... :)

@Hiram

How far north would his work go, would it include Egorian? My character (who is as of yet unnamed) mostly works from there. I could see the two having at least passing knowledge of each other as my character could probably have overseen the paperwork for some of Hiram's clients.

Hiram would have made it to the Heartlands only recently, but anyone working in Cheliax in any capacity should know a good lawyer. Especially if you happen to be a foreign devil-worshipper. Hiram is smarter than he looks, so he would have taken special care that all his papers are in order.

As with Asbadan, our characters might have exchanged some favours to further their respective goals. Money is all well and good, but having some extra muscle you can call on can be far more useful.

@ Cuan: Asbadan actually strongly supports House Thrune, believing them the legitimate rulers of Cheliax by right of power, cunning, and bringing of an end to national chaos. He may not agree with some of their beliefs, but he seeks to rise to join their ranks at almost any cost. "When/If" he is offered this chance to represent Thrune in Korvosa, he would secretly to a little victory dance in his apartment.

On a similar note, Asbadan also is a loyal Chelaxian, believing strongly in his homeland's superiority to the rest of Avistan - if not the world. Second only to his own path for power, he hopes to bring glory to his beloved country through expanding its influence to reach and then exceed its previous holdings before Aroden's death.

I finaly have some idea for the backstory, please tell me how it fits with Chelish lore.

Name: Alcina

Backstory:
Alcina spend her early live as a common street urchin in Egorian. On one fatefull day she was hired by a knight of the order of the Scourge to keep an eye on an "empty" warehouse, contrary to the others hired before she didn't go "missing", but managed to give the knight the hint he needed to smash the criminal organisation that made her headquarter in that warehouse.
Over the years she was hired by that knight again and again for increasingly more difficult missions. Once she was deemed usefull and old enough she was brought to the order be be trained as an "official" agend of the Order.

Her missions included mainly spying and sometimes assasination, in cases where the direct actions of Hellknights were not possible.

I could easily see my character's mentor and later my character having had dealings with your family's company. This would mean he'd recognise your name but nothing beyond that, especially since you're from Cassomir, which is quite the distance from Egorian.

Knowledge by name is common when there are not good photos in this world.

Alright, it's time once again for a listing of those characters who have shown interest and at the least given me a backstory and class ideas both. So long as you guys have character sheets for me to look at by this Monday (Mythweavers or a similar method is entirely acceptable if you do not want to make an Alias), I will be considering you for the running.

From Cheliax
Hiram Ahiram - Former Slave, and Human (Garundi) Warpriest of Moloch 1

Edmund the Tainted - Disgraceful Noble/Hellknight Hopeful, and Devil-blooded Tiefling Phalanx Fighter 1

Asbadan Lotheustan - Diabolic Social Ladder Climber, and Human (Chelexian) Wizard (Infernal Binder) 1

Marcus Clay - Surprisingly Heroic Farmer, and Human (Chelexian) Fighter 1

Vinexa - Diligent Slave, and Vishkanya Aetherkineticist 1

Tellis Corinesten - Disenchanted "Noble," and Human (Chelexian) Swashbuckler (Inspired Blade ) 1

Rego Darksome - Long-lived slave/slaver, and Dhampir Cleric 1

??? - Notary, and Chelish Fighter (Lorewarden)/Unchained Rogue/Investigator (Psychic Detective 1)

From Varisia

Gallius the Pale - Malcontented Albino Shaonti Slayer

Sclivian Ruttle - Diabolic Bureaucrat, and Human (Chelexian) Wizard (Banisher) 1

From... Taldor?
Louisiana Jane - Rich Runaway Bride, and Gnome Alchemist 1

Alicia, now with alias

As he mentioned on the previous page in this thread, the applicant decided to shelve Marcus. I'm not sure if he is still going to make another submission.

Consider it a hopeful holdout. I like Marcus as a representation of Chelexian commoners. Also, all that his player has applied thus far.

Okay, just making sure. I do like the character as well. How out of place he would be depends largely on how many evil characters end up being selected. We still have a majority of neutral submissions, it seems.

Here is the alias for Leandric. He isn't finished as of yet but I'm working on it.

EDIT: For whatever reason the url above isn't working. He can be found here http://paizo.com/people/LeandricScrivan

Only thing I have yet to decide is whether I'm going Str or Dex as main focus for him. This also impacts whether I go Rogue or Investigator.

What it basically comes down to is that the Dex version takes a little more time to come into it's own and, as the character will be using Dirty Trick manoeuvres, comes with an extra feat requirement in the form of Agile Manoeuvres. It does however mean better AC, better Reflex and more AoO's via Combat Reflexes.

Alright folks! I'll be choosing everyone who will be taking part in the campaign tomorrow morning! If your character sheets are not yet finished, you still have a bit of time to wrap things up. Hope you're all excited, and may the odds be ever in your favor.

Marcus's player here.

If the DM likes the idea of adding Marcus to the game, then I'm down with playing him - it would definitely be a source of interesting rp to mix him with the others. I'll leave it to the DM (of course) to make that call.

Hrm. Odd. I can't seem to find Marcus' alias anymore. Since I more or less remember his set up from before, I will probably still consider him. That being said, it would still be highly beneficial for you if I could actually find that again.

Here he is.

Leandric is done

I ended up going for the Dex build and starting out as Rogue using the Charlatan archetype. His next two levels will be Fighter (Lore Warden) and after that I'm not sure which of the two I'll progress first.

Good luck everyone!

What she said.

Ditto. Hopefully the second time's the charm.

Agreed. Hope you get in, even if I don't, Hiram. You put a lot of work in both threads.

I still hope I do, too, though!

Good luck to all!

Alright folks! Today is the day. You guys made it difficult to choose who would get into the five slots I had. So much so that I was forced to up the number of people who would get in to six. While I regret not being able to take in all of you, I am quite sure that you'll all approve of the choices I have made. So, without further ado, here are the characters who have been accepted!

Hiram Ahiram
Edmund the Tainted
Tellis Corinesten
Sclivian Ruttle
Marcus Clay
Leandric Scrivan

I offer my condolences to those that did not make it in, and wish you the best of luck in your other campaign attempts. For the rest of you, the Gameplay thread and the Discussion board will be going up a bit later today. Congratulations, and welcome to Korvosa.

Steps up to the podium, taps the Mic, clears his throat...

"Ahem, yes...I'd like to thank Asmodeus, and my mother, and all the little people I had to step on to get here, as well as Queen Abrogail, may Thrune rule forever, and of course the GM, may I be forgiven for breaking the fourth wall so willingly. The brandy is on me in the discussion thread when it comes!"

Dark Archive

"Oh! Goodness me, I am so very honored by your choice. Now, then, let's make sure that all the paperwork is in order. We see here in Section 4.2 of the contract, the party of the first part..."

Thank you! Congratulations to those who made it, and it'll be sad to see all the great players and characters that didn't make it this round. In some other game, then! There were a bunch of great, fleshed out characters.

Good luck to those who were selected happy gaming.

Happy gaming!
