Quick question, GM. For each round, we are messaging what we did in that round and then writing a post giving a description of what happened (Not whether the attack hits, unless on a natural 20). Then, depending on the results we have sent you, you submit what happened? Or do you just want to know where we are and what we do, and letting us describe what happened?

Basic Ground Rules for the Tournament:
At the start of each match, you will be presented with an overview of the arena and any difficult terrain that it has. First round of matchs will have basic maps were as quarterfinals will have more complex maps.
The announcement phase will begin where both your character will be announced, including name, race and class/es
Inititive will be rolled by both parties, the person to win will explain their single round of buffing first followed by the second person.
The gates will open and the battle will start. Both combatants will post their attacks using the following style:
Round:xx
Initiative:xx
Explained Combat
Attack rolls
Damage Rolls
All character will roll both attacks, damage and spells. Both players will post in intiative order. I will look at both posts after, determine damage, condition modifers and post up remaining hitppoints and statuses.
note: if a character debuffs another character, the character will still post, rolling the appropriate save. They will also still roll attacks and damage if they save or fail. I will judge the debuff and rule the attack as going through or not.
Out of Bounds, Any character who purposely leaves the arena or flies more then 60 feet in the air is out of bounds and forfeits the match.
Any player who doesn't post within 24 hours will receive a yellow card. If they haven't posted in another 24 hours from the yellow card, they will get a red card, and will forfiet the match
The game ends when one player reaches zero hit points.
Any extreme arguing of the rules and hissy fits will result in a yellow card, continued problems will result in a red card.
Post up any questions

So there is no seeing if a spell or action takes before deciding your next action or movement? Could you first do an action, then see if the enemy succeeds on their check before completing your turn actions? This is critical in some situations where you'd do completely different actions if your save or bad stuff happens spell doesn't do what you expected.

I agree with Darius here.

I agree keeping as much information in each post as possible makes sense to make this run smoother but sometimes you need to wait for confirmation of something before proceeding with your actions. Crits re indeed another important example where knowing if your roll hit their AC is a crit threat. Aside from making everyone's AC public the only way to do this is 1 post where you roll your attacks and damage, then the enemy posts which are hits, then you post any crit threat confirmation rolls followed by more damage for if the crit is successful. Unfortunately there just is no way to do everything in 1 post when you need approval from either DM or other player for what happens on the opponent's character.

Also another concern(sorry about all this Tierce I'm just trying to get all this out of the way now) do people have to publicly post what spells or abilities they are using? Your opponent with 0 ranks in spellcraft might have no idea you are casting a True Seeing spell from you casting a Spell Turning. I just want to make sure you can privately tell the DM certain actions or abilities that the opponent would not know and then the DM can let the opponent make any appropriate check to know them. (Some class abilities I don't think would matter so much but a huge part of pvp is knowing or not knowing what your opponent is doing so you can counter it or take the correct action on your turn. If you know every spell or ability that your opponent uses without your character having a reason to then metagaming is going to happen.

I think posting "if" statement is a good idea. That speed the game up. As an example if he makes the save I do ___, but if he fails I do ____, assuming you can determine if he fails. Not all spells let the attacking caster know if the save was made or not.

I would also like to know my enemy's AC so I can confirm/unconfirm my own crit rolls.
I don't think you should know the AC up front. Once you hit the AC it seems reasonable though. That stops people from calculating if they should power attack or not on the first round as an example.
If you do crit the GM can make the confirmation roll.

I have no problem with the spellcraft spell thing as you are concerned that posting an open spell can be easily countered by less then honest individuals. I would say to trust in me as a GM to prevent that from happening, but this is a pvp tournament, so people are a little on edge
AC will not become public knowledge. If you roll critical threat, your going to bold it. You will still roll normal damage. I will confirm the roll and double or triple the damage myself. As for stratagies based on if you or the other guy crits or not, consider doing this:
I do ____________ if that confirms
Else I do ______________ if it doesn't
Yes it makes your posts longer, but trust me, having to wait for me to post between each persons post will slow things down considerably as I won't be updating every few seconds. When things get slowed down, people get bored and walk away, its why 90% of pbp campaigns die within 2 weeks.
