Wrath DM |

Captain Venn explodes at the demands form the half elf. Nearly two weeks of constant navigation and organisation have seriously weakend his reserves of patience it would seem.
"DAMNIT IT WOMAN, DO NOT COME INTO MY CABIN ON MY SHIP AND MAKE DEMANDS OF ME" he screams into her face, his own visage becoming beetroot red with the effort.
"I'LL TREAT THEM AS I DO ANY PASSENGER. BETTER EVEN, FOR THEY HAVN'T PAID. WHEN THEY GET TO PORT, I'LL SEE THEM FROM MY SHIP AND THEN SAIL AGAIN, AND LET THE GODS DECIDE THEIR FATE"
He quietens suddenly, and his face becomes deadly calm as he too leans into the half elf, his face mere inches from hers.
"Now leave my cabin before I have you thrown over the sides girl. It's been a long week and I don't need a stripling of a woman telling me how to live my life on my own ship." He looks up and says calmly to the big Mwangi who has suddenly appeared in the doorway"Mjobo, take these people from my sight. We have nothing further to discuss. Deal with them when they've decided what task they want. I owe them that at least for their help in Azaghur.". Turning to the group he states " When we get to Gergythia, consider our debt paid."
Mjobo holds the door open, a grinm look upon his usually happy face.
You could roll for sense mootive if you like, but you're all pretty confident he means what he says. And he's pretty grumpy about now too. Seems a pretty fickle guy emotionally, chaotic almost. But then, he is very tired.

Bo-dan |

The half-elf moves not an inch nor flinches in the slightest at the explosion from the volatile man. When he finishes she smiles calmly and stands as she says "It is a pleasure to hear your honorable intentions Captain. I feel reassured as to the well being of the innocents aboard and for that I thank you. As this is your ship I shall of course follow your orders. As long as they do not endanger those I have given my protection to." without offering a challenge, Bo-dan simply allows the strength of her purpose and conviction shine through her eyes for a moment before continuing
"You have done an incredible and likely thankless job in getting all of us alive here thus far Captain. I promise you now that I shall do my best to insure that you are repaid for your kindness in due time. May serenity and peace be upon you." At this last the monk presses her palms together at her chest and bows at the waist to the exhausted man. She then spins smoothly and makes her way out of the cabin, looking neither left nor right until she exits.
In the interest of diplomacy Bo-dan also waits until she is outside until she wipes the spittle from her face. Once out of site of the Captain's cabin she sighs and allows her shoulders to slump slightly and looks to her dear Pae for some love, support and to hear her always insightful take on things.

Milhar Korashi |

Milhar leaves. "Good day, sir."
My vote is still the same.
When we have all found a comfortable and quiet spot to discuss which of the Captain's tasks we will take, the Source guides me in this and because some of these passengers hate me, this will be a hard road to travel. What of the web.
"Speaking frankly, our Captain is under a great deal of pressure and that means he may not think things through properly. However I sense he is trying to do what we wish here. At the moment." Milhar straightens the lining of his tunic so that it follows down to his left scabbard.
"Does anyone know task we should take?"

Paera |

Paera had not really expected the proposal the captain had ready for them. As he spoke, some of her fears and suspicions were laid to rest, while others were born. She was particularly worried with the mention that some on the ship wished to see the captain removed. Paera still wasn't sure whether or not she was among their number.
As Milhar and Bo put the question to the captain directly though, she couldn't help but grin faintly as she crossed her arms, finally relaxing now that she knew they weren't being set up to be removed. She looked away to hide her widening grin as her beloved pressed the issue. Gods, right to the heart of things as always, Bo. So difficult sometimes! Her small dose of good humor disappeared when the captain exploded in rage, and it was all she could do to keep her hand from straying to her sword. She couldn't hide the anger on her face though even as Bo remained calm and resolute.
As they left and the group began discussing the matter, Paera spat in disgust and fetched a cloth from her belt for Bo, who she then wrapped her arm around to calm her, though it was more to keep her own temper in line than Bo, who seemed to have taken it in stride. "Charming fellow. So maybe he is willing to take everyone all the way to Gergythia. Gotta wonder if he knows what's waiting for us there."
She turned to the others. She didn't dare fill Algret and Vik in on what she thought she knew yet, not until she was absolutely certain they wouldn't be overheard. "So assumin' he's being straight with us, we are gonna need those supplies if we're gonna have a chance of making it. I gotta admit up front that I don't know much about hunting though. I know he's certainly right about there being some hotheads onboard looking to bleed someone. Figure we should be the ones guardin' the ship? We've done a good job of that once already."
Wrath:

Bo-dan |

Bo-dan relaxes into her lover's arm, feeling Pae's strength of spirit flow through her. She nods and Milhar and Paera speak but chooses to keep her counsel to herself until some of the other make their wishes known.
but you can move on anyway, she's going to put in her vote to stay and protect. Also, as mentioned to the captain, she will propose asking if any of the refugees Wish to stay. Also she will ask those present and also any of the passengers and crew what anyone knows of Gergythia and what to expect there.

Vik |

"Food is needed and hunting for food shouldn't be that hard for those who are capable of combat. But tempers have been short recently, and this is a strange land to us, so protecting the ship would not be a cowrds choice in case any threat shows up." Vik says in a little reserved tone. He looks to Algret for a feel of her attitude on the situation.

Wrath DM |

Ok I'm going to run with you lot protecting the people remaining on shore and the ship. I'm a little pressed for time at the moment and the next in game post from me will be fairly big.
In the meantime you need to decide how you plan to protect both the ship and the people who have to work on shore preparing food stores. What dangers do you think you'll face? How will you tackle those when they come?
Don't feel pressured to come up with elaborate plans, but have these in mind when the posts start rolling out. People are going to be looking to your group if or when trouble starts.

Paera |

Wrath:
1st Roll(for Gergythia): 23
2nd Roll(for those Varisians): 23
"I'd say getting some of the worst of 'em off the ship and into those other groups would make things easier, but that's just askin' for trouble." Paera chewed her lip in thought. "And sticking close to the hotheads is just gonna make 'em suspicious and more irritable. We got any entertainers onboard? I figure that's one way to keep a good lot of them occupied for a while. Take their minds off things for a bit, at least."
She looked to Bo, wondering if any of her skills would be useful there. Paera's performance for crowds tended to involve shell-games and usually ended with a hasty disappearing act. That was something they absolutely did not need in this situation.

Algret , Priestess of Torag |

"As much as a call to battle or adventure sings to me, these people need protection. As does the ship. Possibly from each other. We hunt, we fight, but when need arises, we protect. I think that is what Torag calls us to do now."
She looks up at Vik then looks to the children with her in a mixture of protectiveness and amazement.

Wrath DM |

The sun has reched its zenith and is beginning its march to the western horizon by the time Vixen reaches the outer reef of the island.
One of the longboats is lowered into the water and some of the more experienced sailors row ahead of the ship, navigating a path through the reefs and rocks of the outer rim. At the fore deck, Mojobo stands, awkwardly signalling the directions to the helmsman as he recieves instructions from the men.
To either side, men take depth soundings by repeatedly throwing knotted ropes weighted with lead into the water and counting how far they sink.
4 small groups of people have gatehred on the deck, to kit themselves out for the first trip onto the beaches. The halfling, Tilayahalla and her family, plus the one armed soldier and two of the Tien women are wathcing the island and discussing plans for getting the sauropods down to the beach for processing.
Another group, this one seemingly drawn from passengers who paid for the trip, stands to one side. They are polishing weapons of good quality. Two of the men have heavy mail armour donned. These two stand guard beside a woman possibly in her mid forties. She is dressed in tight fitting clothing, suitable for rough work, and has a backpack seemingly filled with "interesting" items. These three have been almost unseen to date on teh ship, preferring to keep to themselves. They have drawn the job of securing the honey.
Jaekal is discussing the journey with Thom and three of the bigger Gharundi. No women have been chosen to go to the village, at Jaekals request. This group will go and try nad negotiate for some of teh ahrder to get supplies that Arlen's village is known to have. Of all the groups, this one seems the most edgy for some reason. The three Gharund keep looking around, as if expecting someone else to come along.
It takes the better part of two hours to navigate the ship through the reef. When they are through, the waters of the bay are crystal clear and teeming with life. Great schools of fish wheel in and out of the reefs. Big grey fish, their sleek bodies and triangular dorsal fins marking them as the predatory sharks of the tropical waters, glide in greaceful pursuit of the fish. At one stage, everyone sees the teltale head breach of an elasmosaur as it surfaces near the ship. Its glassy eye rolls up to look at those on deck before it submerges slowly and splashes away deeper into the great lagoon.
Mjobo finally walks over to the gathered groups and speaks to everyone, his deep oice booming across teh deck easily over teh sounds of the busy crew. "Well, dere's no easy escape from dis if any of dem Varisians find dere way to us. But den, well see em comin' in plenty of time to plan as well.". His face looks strained, both from the effort of his work with the broken arms and ribs, and from the fact he isn't comfortable with the ship in such an exposed position.
"De Capitaan says you are to leave on de longboats when you are ready. I'll be going with the lady and her guards to get de honey sorted. Could be a bit of scrapping involved in dat one."
He turns to the group that had protected the ship so effectively when they had fled Azaghur. "Capitaan said to tell you that well be ferrying passengers to de beach all afternoon to set up for de food preparation. He expects you te be prepared for guarding dem on de beach. We none of us too sure whats on dis side of de island.". He looks as if he wants to say more, staring into the eyes of B0-Dan defore shaking his head and moving back to the three people who are going to accompany him on the honey raid.
Everyone starts getting ready to board the longboats.

Bo-dan |

Bo-dan says nothing as she returns Mjobo's look, a mix of emotions in her eyes. Once he turns to walk away the monk asks Algret to come aside with her for a moment and speaks to her
Algret
"Algret, I have observed your skill with healing and it is obvious your God Torag has blessed you greatly with his gifts. I am no skilled healer myself but I see that Mjobo is still not yet recovered from his grievous wounds. It is my thinking that he is one of the ships stoutest fighters it would benefit us all if he were in as good a shape as can be. So my question is, might your healing or divine arts be able to bring him to full health? Or if not, perhaps I could use my medallion if you think that might serve better?"
When the two return from their tete-a-tete Bo-dan turns to Paera with a smile "Your idea is a good one dearheart, as always. Something to get the people's minds of their troubles may be exactly the thing. I myself may be able to perform a martial arts exhibition and then give classes in some simple movements and meditations. This in itself should do much to calm the minds and bodies of those that participate."
Turning to the rest of the group "In addition to that, though I am not well versed in these matters, perhaps we should see about setting up some sort of temporary fortifications? Hard work is another well known cure for hot tempers or melancholy. Do any here possesses knowledge or skill in area of construction or defense?" The half-elf's eyes on their own naturally seem to drift towards the dwarf as she asks this.

Wrath DM |

Bo and Algret
I know I'm spoiler reading here, but as DM I'm hoping no one minds that :). To answer your question Bo, broken bones and certain other traumas aren't able to be fixed by low level heal spells. It requires restoration or higher level healing to repair that type of damage in my games. I also allow heal checks to speed up recovery time of these types of things. It is those checks that allowed Algret and Milhar to save the woman with the head injuries earlier. This way, things like broken limbs and head injuries are still serious threats in a world where higher level magic is too expensive for the average jo to afford. Cheers.

Wrath DM |

Paera, info about Gergythia and the Varisians. Let people know if you're happy to share the info.
Gergythia is the main city in the lands occupied by the Chelaxians. It is right on teh frontier of where humans call home, so it is still a dangerous land. Plenty of folk travel here hoping to make a new life, or start omething big where they'd otherwise be small in more established lands.
However, the place is ruled by might and power. If you can't keep yourself above the poverty line, you quickly become the propery of the state. Bonded (as these people are known) are sent to serve various nobles and expansionist prgrammes in the mountians to the northwest. It is here that many refugees have ended up apprently, working to establish new settlements under the rule of a frontier nobleman.
Rumours also abound of people disappearing completely in this town, serving darker needs of the magi and priests as they try to deal with otherowrldy beings for more power and protection in this harsh land.
Paera left the city state and her emply on the air ship Indominatable as a consequence of some of the extreme prejudice and class differences seen in the are. Half elves are not popular here, possiblt because of the proximity of the elven nation in this region.
The varisians are a nation of ea faring folk. No one person or family rules these rogues. Instead, a number of self proclaimed princes and kings control various island nations. It is possible for a merchant to sail unhindered as a consequence of deals with various of teh pirate kings, but they need to be careful they don't stray out of safe waters. Plenty of rivalry between the nations eist.
Many of the sailors and ships in this region spend their time seraching teh thousands of islands for lost treasures of the past pirate kings. There's also rumours that many of the islands have the remnants of an ancient civilisation, dotted around the islands. Many strange artefacts have certainly come from this area that make this rumour seem feasable.

Wrath DM |

If no one has any interaction they'd like beforehand, I'll jump us to the beach landing in my next post. I'm off to visit relatives tomorrow so won't be able to update until Saturday night or Sunday morning my time. Just to give you something to tide you over, everyone gets 200xp for the journey so far. That's for the roleplay and micro challenges each of you had to go through. The pace of things is going to pick up soon, and if you manage to survive, a level up soon as well. Cheers

Paera |

Paera, info about Gergythia and the Varisians. Let people know if you're happy to share the info.
** spoiler omitted **...
Wrath:
I feel guilty asking more questions after all you've written already. ;)
"Yeah, anything that means someone else is doing the heavy lifting is fine by me." Paera agreed with Bo's suggestion with a grin.
She watched the groups preparing to head out with interest. She waved to Tila, and stared curiously at the pack that belonged to the woman with the seeming bodyguards. "Y'know, I guess another perk with those reefs is that it'll be harder for them to ditch everyone here." she mumbled to her group before her face turned grim.
"Guys, I don't know if you know all that much about where we're heading, but I can tell ya it probably isn't going to work out for these folks. It's frontier country, but there's plenty of Chelaxian nobility lording over it. And if someone doesn't have enough money to make it on their own out there, they pretty much become slaves. That and there's worse things out there..." She looked around the ship, at all the refugees, and sighed. "There's no way most of these people have enough on 'em to buy their safety. If they could get along and had some real leadership holding them together, they might have a chance of striking out on their own up there. I think I might have an idea...but it really depends on these people. If you guys find out anything about how these folks are splitting themselves up, could ya let me know? And please, don't tell any of 'em what I just told ya. Not yet at least..."
She almost mentioned what she remembered about the pirates so many were worried about, but she held her tongue just in time, a glimmer of shame passing over her face.

Milhar Korashi |

"Could you tell me what the worse things are, please?" Milhar looks up from the reef at the woman.
Guard duty for a group of passengers many of whom regard me as a murderer. Fun, fun, fun.
"I will be leaving when the Captain does. What do we know of our final destination? Because is it any better than here for the passengers? For myself I hope so."
Algret has the doll?
"But your idea of making fortifications is one that I like. It may work for a while. I shall continue to act as a roving healer doing the rounds of the beach and the ship. Should I learn anything of import I will let you know. As for acting the guard, I am willing to take a night duty."

Wrath DM |

Paera, There are Varisians who live on the mainlands who live gypsy lifestyles. They don't don't tend to settle down well as a people, and aren't particularly fond of authority.
Milhar, both you and Algret got one of those dolls. Yours was the male one, she got the female one. Note that they'll develop in different ways as a consequence of who they quicken for. Every class can use one. They're very rare though.

Milhar Korashi |

Thanks I'll add him to my sheet. So I got Ken and Algret got Barbie.
Milhar tries to keep busy with the crew and the passengers. When the work is done for the day, he spends a while before sleeping trying to become attuned to his doll. Otherwise Milhar just carries it around.
Possible Diplomacy checks for keeping friendly with the passengers 13+6=19, and crew 8+6=14

Wrath DM |

At this stage, Milhar is opting to remian on the ship until the captain departs. Any who also wish to do see can read the relevent part below. Those of you who decide to leave for the beach in the first two longboats can read that section. The captain expects at least some of you to hit the beach early so you can check it for safety before he allows passengers to begin ferrying there in work parties.
The beach
The sun is well and truly into its afternoon decent by the time the longboats are loaded and depart for the beach of the island. The trip is short through the still waters of the lagoon, with Vixen being able to anchor very close to shore at this point. It appears as if a rift in the volcanic rim partway through the outer coral cove allows a depper chanel for part of the trip.
As the boat crunches to shore, the smell of the jungle before you suddenly assults your nose, overwhelming the sea salt of the voyage to date. A semll of wet earth and rotting vegetation, reinforced by the sounds of strange jungle creatures scrachig in the dark undercamopy. A flight of brightly cloured Pteradons burts from the high canopy not too far into the jungle. Their strange calls and the sudden movement has weapons drawn by many of the jumpy crews that travelled with you. Mjobo grins at the reactions of those around him, and pats a few of them reassuringly on the shoulder. "Well den, best be gettin' on wit de job mon. Jaekal, your lot be headin along de beach afore ye get to de trail. If you travel well, you shoud be at de village by nights fall. Travel light through de jungles though."
Looking at those assigned to secure the beach he continues "Best be checkin de surroundings. De Capitaan is waiting for your signal before he sends de others across."
With that he departs into the jungle with his crew, following some form of navigation device he holds in his hands.
The hlafling family and the other dino huntres also move off. They have big pikes rigged from the ships gear, and a number of very large nets. The Tilayahalla herself is dressed in her sturdy leathers but has painted herself in tribal decorations and seems to be wileding some kind of totemic item as well. She grins at the others as she leads them into the jungle as well, obviously relishing the chance to hunt dinosaurs again.
The beach area is suddenly much emptier, with all the deprating groups seemingly vansihing into the jungle, or disapeared around the rocky point further down the beach. The jungle noises seem only more strange with the absence of the others.
Ok, there are three areas to searhc. The beach, the jungle nearby and the rocky point. Make relevent search rolls. Highes one is lead, others are assists. I'll assume those of you here stay in a group.
The ship
It is a strange feeling wathcing the others row towards the island. There is obviously danger facing those who are leaving, yet the tension aboard the ship itself is lmost palpable. The crew keep looking towards the island and then towards the fringing reef, as if expecting trouble from either quarter.
With Mjobo gone, the captain is making his presence more widely known amongst the crew and the passengers. No one misses the sifgnificance of teh fact he is now armed with a heavy cutlass and a light curasse of studded leather.
Milhar moves amongst the crowds, being generally met with smiles and hellos from the passengers. The crew seem overly busy to be concerend with the man.
A disturbance amongst the Tien women draws he and his companions to the crowd. Their talk is quick and frantic, the sing song language becoming a little grating in their agitation. Bia-Ma, the young man who has become their unoficial spokesman turns to the approaching group and tells Milhar "Sieu-Dien is missing. She was meant to see her siste nearly an hour ago but didn't come. She is not in the infirmary either." The man looks agitated.
Above decks, the captian can be heard callling out angrily "Great Besmarda damn him, where in the nince hells is Schorl?! He was meant to be getting the casks ready for transfer."
How you proceed from here is your choice. Feel free to use whatever rolls you feel necessary to find info or do a search etc. Use the ships plans from my DM page to help reference your actions.

Milhar Korashi |

DM
Milhar goes to the Captain and explains, "Sir we have a missing girl from the infirmary, Tien, her folks are searching for her now because its been an hour. Can you spare some men to help I worry that something terrible may have happened to her. And Schorl."
Diplomacy check 13+6=19

Vik |

Hearing Mjobo's words, Vik nods in understanding. Finally setting foot on land again, he crouches down on one knee and leers like a stalking hunting cat. He moves quickly to scan the beach, then moves to the part of the jungle just off the beach, and finally, to the rocky area.
The beach 14
The jungle 18
The rocks 15
As he searches he beastial nature feels more at home in the jungle as her searches than anywhere else.

Wrath DM |

Just waiting for a few more replies before updating. Bo-Dan is away for a few days so I'll npc her (she'll stick with Paera pretty much). Paera usually gets busy at months end for busisnes, I'm guessing end of financial year is worse still for her, so I'll give her some more time. Just letting people know where we're at.
Milhar, will post something about your companion doll tonight. Cheers

Algret , Priestess of Torag |

Algret also spend a while studying her doll during the later hours.
As Milhar chooses to stay on the ship Algret joins those on the beach ensuring that a healer is present, and taking the children with her.
She watches Vik with a grin, seeing him in his element doing what he does best.

Wrath DM |

Milhar (the doll)
The longer Milhar studies the little wooden construct, the stronger grows the feeling that it is also studying him. The crystal at its neck has started to feel warm to the touch now, after only a few days of touching it and keeping it near. It is almost offputting, having the feeling that something is always watching but never quite there.
Algret (the doll)
The doll seems strange to dwarven priestess. The longer she keeps it near her, the stronger grows the feeling that the thing is watching her, learning from her. It seems strong with a source of power, yet Algret cannot access or tap into it. The crystal the dolls neck seems to have changed colour now, growing more stony in aearence and losing the crystal appearence it first had. An uncomfortable feeling of always being watched seesm to follow the dwarf wherever she moves while carrying the doll.
The beach
Vik searches a wide pathway through the area they have planned to land upon. At the beach, there appears to be not much of concern. The sand is carse grain and dark, mixed here and there with crunchy rock obviously spewed from the volcano. The footprints of the other three groups mark their way clearly into the jungle and further along the beach.
At the jungles edge, the big mans hackles seem to rise as he senses something in the undergrowth. He feels watched and trapped but as he looks into the foliage, nothing seems to show. A delighted laugh from the two children, splashing in the shallows turns his head slightly and the feeling disapears. He snaps his head back to where he was looking and the light of the afternoon sun seems to catch on something metal in the sandy loam at the base of a palm. He bends and picks up a small silver coin with a hole punched through it. A crude leather thong has been tied through this coin. The coin itself seems to be old, the head stamoped into its face not recognisable by the Barbarian.
Down at the rocky promontory where he continues the searh, he recognises the workings of intelligent hands. A small rocky wall has been built extending from the natural shelf of the rocks. As the tide starts to slip from the beach, the waters in here are trapping fish and other things in a concentrated pond. Somthing bigger seems to moving up from teh base of the fish trap, big claws and a thrashing tail driving it towards the Ulfen as he stands looking into the waters.
Initiatives please Algret and Vik.
The ship
Captin Venn is about to answer Milhar when a shout from below decks catches everyones attention. Rushing towards the loading bay doors which are standing open, the small group looks down onto a crowd of people gathered around a woman who appears to have feinted. There is blood over her hands, the hem of dress and her feet also appear to be washed in the stuff.
One of Keleshite women leaning over her looks up and calls to the group above "It's not her blood. She came up from the hold as everyone was about to enter. She screamed something about a beast before she feinted"
A murmor of fear ripples through the gathered people and many of tehm make the warding sign against evil over their hearts. Fearful looks are thrown towards the entrance from which the girl emerged.
The captain murmers beside those gathered around him "Gods, what can have spilled so much blood?" his face appears pinched with fear and the colour has gone from him somehwat.

Milhar Korashi |

Milhar draws a short sword and heads down into the ship, following the trail of blood. His final act before departing is to place a small spell on the sword, it shines like a torch.
"Captain Venn, only send the bravest after me."
He descends into the hold.

Wrath DM |

The ship
As Milhar's glowing sword lights the stairway leading into the lowest hold, he can feel the presence of two people behind him. Turning slightly, he can see Bia-Ma standing with him and behind him the girl who rode the griphon, Emallion. She has hastily donned her breatplate and wields the small sabre from her personal equipment. Even after nearly a weeks rest, she seems a little shaky on her feet though. Bia-Ma is armed with a cottor pin from the ship, and large skinning knife. He wields one in each hand, though has no armour to speak of. Both of them look nervous but determined.
Below this small group, the blood trail from the girl can be clearly seen, the bluish light from the magically glowing sword casting the blood in an eerie hue. The gentle rock of the ship and the occasional groan of timbers creaking against each other adds a sense of the surreal to the situation as the three of them move down into the hold. A conversation starts up on the mid deck, with some people saying they should shut the door beind the group. Milhar thinks he's heard the voice before but its hard to tell with his senses so focused on the task at hand. Captain Venn's voice cuts through the argument, telling everyone to back away and only shut the door as it becomes necessary.
Eventually on the flat deck of the hold, the group wind their way through the narrow passageway afforeded them by the carefully stowed crates and barrels. As they get to a three way junction in this warren of gear, they come to the source of the blood. It is Sieu-Dien. Her body has been torn open at the chest, and great rending gouges appear to have been torn into her legs and arms. Strangely her face has been left completely unmarred, except for the look of confused shock on her face.
The sound of a crate being knocked over in the darkness nearby draws everyones attention away from the grisly sight. Everytihg goes quiet, even the ships timbers seem to hold their noises to themselves as the moment hangs heavy with portent.
Two perception checks required please Milhar. One is sound based and is for trying to identify the voice upstairs. The other is also sound based, and its for something in the hold after you hear the crate fall. I have to spoiler those after this one, as I don't know how to put spoilers within a spoiler. Hope you're feeling a little tense.
Milhar, perception roll DC 12 for voice
The voice is that of the man who first confronted you on the ship. He has been fairly scarce around you since the others backed you up.
Milhar, perception roll DC 17 for downstairs
The sound of ragged breathing can barely be heard in the darkness nearby. There is a note of pain in the sound, along with a gutteral, almost growling tone as well.

Milhar Korashi |

A little, Milhar gets 20+1=21, and 19+1=20 for Perception.Let's hope his luck holds. Casts Shield upon seeing the body.
Seeing the victim, Milhar automatically casts a spell, "Duro Celestia Domine Bar."
"I hear something in pain and it's over there behind the crates."

Wrath DM |

The ship
Raising his sword so the others can see more clearly, the group of three edge towards where the noise is coming from. Bia-Ma reaches his hand forward and shifts a crate out of the way, trying to be quiet.
The bluish light shines down on somthing big, sagging against the crates and barrels on the far side of a little space cleared amongst the stowed equipment. At first Milhar thinks it is a man but then he notices the great tufts of hair growing from its arms and legs. The head turns as the light falls upon it and a snarling growl of pain and anger bursts from a mouth that once belonged to the man Schorl. Now his face is contorted in pain and anger, the eyes glowing a dull red and narrowing against the light. His hands appear swolen and bent into claws, and they're covered up to the elbow in blood. With a scream, part human, part howl he launches himself towards the source of light.
"It huuuuuuurtss ssssooooo muuuuch!"
Inititaive please Milhar. You're in a narrow corridor, 5 feet wide created from stacked barrels and crates. They can be knocked over easily enough. The ahead from which the Schorl thing is attacking is about ten feet square. A small barricade of crates is between you and the attacker, though you get the impression it won't worry him. Bia Mar is in front of you, Emallion is behind you. Won't get to update again tonight sorry.

Wrath DM |

Ok initiatives on the ship are Bia-Mah 19, Milhar 18, Emallion 12, Schorl thing 5. Go ahead and post your first round actions Milhar.
Initiatives for the beach fight are Bo-Dan 21, Claw creatures 19, Paera 18, Algret 13, Vik 11. Also go ahead and post first round actions. Note there are at least two of these things in the water. 1st one will engage in round one. The second one pretty soon after that as far as you can tell. Knowledge dungeoneering DC 15 will let you know what they are (assuming you have ranks in that skill)

Milhar Korashi |

Milhar points his free hand and searches the Source for the evil that is Schorl.
May the dark red of violence not infest your heart, but if it does then let this humble servant harm you.
Ranged touch attack 11, Damage=3pts
Then Milhar pulls out his second short sword.

Vik |

Upon seeing the creature, Vik stumbles back abit, a little shocked from sudden appearance. When he focuses himself he grabs his greataxe, and takes a mighty swing, hoping to severly injure, if not kill the thing.
To hit 1d20+3=15+3=18; damage 1d12+3=12+3=15
please don't waste the good rolls

Bo-dan |

Not sure of her ability to affect the crustacean's hard shell with her appendages alone, Bo-dan chooses her Sai for it's piercing power (1d4+4=7) and lunges (1d20+5=7) at the clawed creature.

Algret , Priestess of Torag |

Looking up Algret rushes frward to stand ahead of the two children, and extends her hand releasing a bolt of acid towards the second creature.
Ranged touch 1d20=12, 1d6=5
She stands ready for the coming attack
"Little ones, get away from the water and stay behind me!"

Paera |

Yeah, you called it Wrath. I'm really, really sorry about taking so long.
EARLIER:
"Could you tell me what the worse things are, please?" Milhar looks up from the reef at the woman.
Paera looked at the others, hesitant to go into grimmer details that might be passed around carelessly. "Nothing I know for certain...but there's rumors...people disappear pretty often up there. There's talk about folks being sacrificed to buy safety out on the frontier."
BEACH:
Seeing Vik's hackles rise, Paera began to ask, "Hey, Big Guy. What's wrong?" Then she saw what was wrong. Bo-Dan was already in the fray by the time she shook off her surprise and dashed in after her.
She attempted to hop over the things claws as she went further ahead, trying to get it between herself and Bo before lunging with her rapier.

Wrath DM |

The beach
Things on the beach suddenly explode into a maelstrom of violence and screaming. Bo-Dan moves and swings her weapon at the clawed creature even as it bursts from the water. The blow is quite wide though, the spray of water and suddeness of the attack putting the monk off her usually good form.
In response the creature lashes out at Vik, the original target of its wrath and strikes him solidly with both claws, even as the big Ulfens axe sweeps in and strikes it heavily.Clawed creatures attacks 1d20+3=17, 1d4=1, 1d20+3=22, 1d4=2. Both hits, for a total of 3 damage Vik. Need to make a fort save DC 12 or suffer -2 from grapple checks and strength checks. The creatures claws and spines are envenomed. IT also intiates a grapple with Vik, Grapple check is 1d20+5=13. If you beat that no probs, otherwise you start next round in its grip. No attack of opportunity against it.
Vik's blow is very savage and nearly splits the thing in twain, but still it fights on with a visciousness belying its size. Almost one can make out words in the noises it makes as it thrashes at Vik.
Paera tries desperately to position herself more favourably for an attack but the slippery rocks and the dangerous thrashings of the creature means she fails her maneuvre, and her subsequent attack also misses, though only just.
Algret calls for the two children to move to safety further up the beach but is forced to take action against a second creature she can just make out swimming into range. Her blast of acidic energy sizzles as it hits the water and the creatures carapace. The greenish substance bubbles and spits on the carapace of the creature before burining into the softer flesh below. Vik, I kept your roll given the nature of how I'm running combat I figured it was only fair. However if you fail that grapple and can't break out next turn, you can't use your axe to fght. New round up.
The ship
AS Schorl leaps at the group in the semi darkened hold, Bia-Mah swings both of his weapons. Bia-Ma's rolls 1d20+1=6, 1d20+1=13, 1d6=1, 1d4=1, Both attacks are wide, with the intervening crates making striking the enraged man even harder.
Milhar reaches out with his innate fire, and feels the wrath of holy vengence sear into the Schorl things flesh. Schorl screams in response and swings a ferocious blow at Bia-Mah. The little Tienese man ducks below this and the blow shatters the side of the crate beside his head. Packages of foodstuffs and jars of preserve tumble from the ruined crate and shatter noisly on the deck. Schorl's roll 1d20+4=8, 1d6+4=8.
Emallion calls for the trio to fall back to the intersection, trying to explain her reasons why but the chaos and the noise make it almost impossible to determine what the girl is saying. Somtehing about more room to use numbers, but it is difficult to focus in the midst of battle.
Your fire worked. New round up
Glad to see we've got pretty much everyone back for regular postings again. Some tough times for you guys lately. Hope it all gets better.

Vik |

frt save 17+4=21
grapple check 5+3=8
At least I made the fort save
Wrath
the grapple check is an opposing roll, but I thought the PFRPG beta rules stated the dc for a grapple was a cmb check and the attacker had to make a dc=15+cmb in this case 3 for a dc 18. Sorry to sound snoty your game your rules. Bad week, look in the things that suck thread

Wrath DM |

grapple check 5+3=8
At least I made the fort save
Wrath
** spoiler omitted **
No probs Vik, you're completely correct. I'm still mixing my 3.5 and Pathfinder rules up. No grapple on you :). I mixed up the effects for poisons too apparently. I hadn't even realised how they had changed those rules till someone pointed it out in one of my other games. Cheers
To all you other good people playing as well, let me know when I mess up the rules. I tend to not flick through the book unless I'm really unsure of things. Unfortunately sometimes I think I'm confident, but I've still got it wrong :). Cheers

Paera |

Paera cursed as she slipped and missed her mark, and cursed again when she saw the other creature advancing towards Algret and the children. "Oh gods! The kids! Bo, help him!" she shouted, stepping away from the one attacking Vik and dashing to get between the other creature and the children, making a mad stab at the thing's face as she did so.
Moving to the other creature and attacking if I can move quickly enough. I don't expect to hurt it much, but it won't go after the children at least.
Melee Attack: 13
Damage: 3

Algret , Priestess of Torag |

Turning towards the children Algret begins to chant, the symbol/birthmark on her breast lighting up with an internal glow. She places her hand on Kefir's head and looks him in the eye.
"Keep hold of your sister and stay where you are ok little one. It will all be fine. You're safe here"
Casts Sanctuary on Kefir.
Turning around she draws her hammer, twirling it and bracing herself in preparation for an attack.

Milhar Korashi |

DM
Milhar prepares to help Bia-Ma but hopes he will operate a fighting retreat to the crossway. There he will take which ever side that the griffon rider doesn't.

Bo-dan |

Seeing her comrade in danger, her dislike for the Barbarian cast aside in the unity of battle, Bo-dan sprigs into action, moving at near blinding speeds as she unleashes a flurry of attacks (1d20+4=12, 1d20+4=13) against the clawed creature seeking to pierce (1d4+4=5, 1d4+4=6) it's crusty hide. At the same time her heart skips a beat with pride and fear as she sees the bravery of her beloved's actions to protect the children.
