Dergo battled twin desires. Some part of him told him to stay right where he was, out of the main battle. Another very significant part was feeling thundering anger, hissing desire to join battle and rip out someone's spine.

He knew the latter part wasn't his own mind, but he couldn't just ignore it. He fired another bolt of energy, clenching his free hand. Then, he darted from his brace position, intent to get a better shot at the goblin

Hiya all, just letting you know I'm back from my weekend of gaming goodness. Will update later today.

The sounds of the screaming from the docks starts to fade away into the distance as Vixen draws further from the city. Whatever arcane force was driving her through the water, it was doing so at great speed, almost as if the ship were under full sail with a tailing wind. On the ship itself, combat still reigned but all could see the goblins were losing heart for the battle as they too were carried further from the horde.

With a whooping cry, Bo-Dan swung down from the mast with the guide line in hand and landed on the sterncastle. The momentum of the swing staggered the monk somewhat and she found her rapidly aimed blow at the goblin she was trying to hit went wide fractionally, allowing it to catch the blow on its shield.

In return the goblins attacked again, not knowing what else to do. The one who had thrown down his weapon stood and rushed to the rail at the rear of the ship, calling desperately for his friends to flee with him, imploring them to stop attacking these companions and obvious friends of the horde. When he realised they would not listen to him the goblin threw himself into the waters behind the ship. The little creature surfaced a few seconds later and began to make for the docks with a desperate doggy paddle stroke.

The remaining goblins attacked what opponents they could, all three beginning to chant a dirge to Pharasma to guide their way to the hall of champions. One attacked the captain and again hits the man, but the blow is weak, causing little damage. Bo-Dan is also attacked, the sudden appearence of the monk coming from on high causing the creature to desperately stab out and cry in fear. The blow is poorly aimed and the little goblin almost sobs in fear as it now realises its life will end soon. It darts a brief glance at the rail which its friend leapt over and turns to run, leaving an opening for the half elf in its panic. Attack on Bo-Dan 1d20+2=8, 1d6+1=5. Goblin flees, you can make an AoO if you'd like.

Once again Vik's opponent seems skilled with its blade as it again finds a weakness in the barbarians defenses. The blade snakes in under the tunic he wears and bites deeply into his side. Attack on Vik,1d20+2=21, 1d6+1=5, Critical confirmation 1d20+2=16, 1d6+1=7. OUCH!! Two possible crits in a row, sorry Vik. This last one was confirmed so you take 12 damage from that hit.

Algret charges screaming into the back of the goblin attacking the captain. Her hammer smashes into its spine, jus below the head and all can clearly hear the crack as the column of bone is shatterd. The creature drops lifeless to ground, its head lolling at a strange angle on the now pulped bones.

Dergo unleashes another bolt of anger at the goblin that just stabbed the big Ulfen. This time the eldritch energy sizzles unerringly into the goblins head, exploding it with a wet bang, sparaying black blood and brain matter over the badly wounded Ulfen. Dergo's attack, 1d20+3=23, 1d6=6, Critical confirmation 1d20+3=17, 1d6=4. Well that's two confirmed criticals i've rolled on IC this morning. A new record for me I can tell you. Lucky the second one was for a party member!

Paera vents her frustrations at the retreating form of the wasp rider but distance and the unreliable sway of the mast again foils her shot. The goblin rises to meet the attacking Griffon Rider and is almost immediately punched from its seat by the tip of a lance. It's wasp is momentarily knocked out of the combat and angrily buzzes away, completely uninterested in the events now its rider is lost.

Milhar sees the Barbarian is nearly down and sends forth a flame of healing fire to help the big man. Vik feels the heat of the flame sealing the wound in his side, giving him just enough strength to remain on his feet. Strangely, he's left with the scent of mountain lillies and snow, as if he was again in the Fjords of his homeland ranging the mountains.

The ship is suddenly very quiet as the combat seems to come to an end. Then a cry in broken common comes from the Forecastle and all your eyes are drawn that way to witness a terrible tableau at the front of the ship. Two goblins are left there, one holds a human girl child with a knife at her throat. The other holds aloft a vial of glowing liquid, in its other hand a satchel of further such vials can clearly be seen. This one calls again in common [/b]"Turn this vessel about or it burnt becomes. Send you all to meet lady death we will!"[/b]

Well combat at your end is over. A new situation has arisen at the front of the ship. There is a crowd of some 80 people in the centre of the ship. From your vantage point on the sterncastle you can't see Mjobo, although Paera can with a spot DC of 12

Spoiler:
Mjobo seems to be lying on the deck, a spreading pool of red blood mixing with the black blood of the goblin he is clutching in his hands. His arm is moving feebly, indicating he is not yet dead.
.

This can be handled with diplomacy type stuff or through combat, depending on what your actions are. We'll do new initiatives if combat starts. Feel free to drop into the OOC thread to plan this a bit if you'd like. Once you post it in IC, the goblins will react accordingly. Cheers. Oh yeah, almost forgot. The bees have al left the ship now, their pollen combs completely loaded.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Are we still in rounds?

Seeing the little goblin desperately trying to flee, Bo-Dan realizes the pitiful creature is no further threat and mercifully lets it dive into the sea without attacking it. Still focused on the gravely wounded captain, she quickly kneels by him, lifting his head into her lap and using a charge from her medallion to heal (1d8+1=9) him.

She casts a quick look up in the direction of the crow's nest to make sure Paera is well when her attention is snapped back to the front of the ship by the Goblin's threats. A deep frown creases her face at the sight of the innocent child and one of her hands unconsciously clenches into a tight fist.

Female Dwarf Cleric of Torag 2

Looking at those around her Algret once again calls forth the power of her God.1d6=5
A burst of healing power radiates forward, washing over Vik, the Captain, the swordsman , the young woman and the downed sailor.

"Vik are you alright?"

fORT SAVE 1d20+7=16

Male Ulfen(shifter) Barbarian 2

Fort save 20
Thanks Algret.*cough* Da, now I am. Where are those little cowards, I'm gonna rip them a new one.... He trails off seeing the hostage situation and thus staynig his hand for right now.

Female Elf, Rogue 1, Init +3,Fort +0; Ref +5; Will +1, AC18/F14/T14, Hits 9/9, CMD 15, Low-light vision, Perception +7

Milhar seeing the hostage situation developing, runs forward through the crowd. He keeps moving until he is close to the pair of goblins.

I think its a double move to the foredeck. And Milhar needs to be alot closer to help.

DM Wrath

Spoiler:
If we drop out of rounds then Milhar will cast another charm person on the goblin with the baby in its arms and tell me that by Pharasma no champion kills babies, let fate decide, pass that baby to me. If he does anything else like throw it over the side or toss it in the air, then Milhar will be ready to grab it or swim for it.

I am fine with the way your players read a charm spell, but would it ever attack me? That seems a bit counter to the spell.

Female Half-Elf (Varisian) Rogue 1

"Heh." Paera grimly chuckled as her foe was knocked out of the sky by the very person she had been admiring earlier. "Thanks..." she said quietly as she tenderly held her bleeding side and looked down on the deck.

Perception: 7

She let out a sigh of relief when she saw that Bo-Dan was safe, but when her eyes passed over the child... She inhaled with a hiss at the scene as she immediately drew another arrow, but she did not fire. Her aim had been off throughout the battle, and the shot she was thinking about making was much further away than the attacking bees and wasps had been. Still, to simply stand there in the Crow's Nest and do nothing while the girl's life was at stake....

Sweat beaded on her brow as she held her bowstring taut.

Milhar

Spoiler:

Nope, it would never attack you, but maybe your companiosn and that really comes down to what they're doing. I think of chaotic evil creatures like goblins as similar to a barely controlled pitbull. It might follow your instructions while charmed, but your mates have to always watch their backs. Cheers.

Female Dwarf Cleric of Torag 2

Algret looks to Vik as they witness they hostage crisis.
Vik

Spoiler:

"I need to get close, I've got one big spell that can stop one of them for a few seconds. That's all the time you'll have to kill him. After that that little girl will be out of time"

She looks to the half elven woman who fought unarmed,"Can you get the bag away from the other one?"

We need to go there now. She heads down the stairs towards the front of the ship.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

If the Captain looks to have stabilized, Bo-Dan follows the Dwarven woman towards the front of the ship.

So the Captain should be healed 14hp now I believe. Would we be able to see what Mjobo's up to as we make our way towards the front of the ship?

The captain gets slowly to his feet, whincing as he cluthces his damaged leg. He looks down at the still unconcious helmsman and then at the scene before him. "Gods be damned!" he curses, "We need to sort this quickly, there's shifting sand bar near the mouth of this harbour that'll ground us if I don't steer this right. I'll steer from out of their sight if you lot can keep them occupied"

Even as he is handing out these orders, the group that had formed at the sterncastle are already moving, indipendantly coming to a form of plan.

Milhar moves forwards through crowd until he stands at the base of teh castle, the two goblins are just visible to the human above the rise of the deck. He reaches out with his innate power, searching for the individual essence of the goblin holding the girl. A deep spark of red and black indicates the two goblins in teh sea of souls surrounding the sorceror and he quickly narrows it down to one. Somewhere amongst the fear and hatred, a sense of honour is buried deep, ingrained and trained by hobgoblin masters during the brutal training that Milhar glimpses briefly as he touches minds with the creature. He touches this point and makes it flare to overpower the other emotions, convincing the goblin that Milhar is a true friend and his advice needs to be heeded. "By Pharasma no champion kills babies, let fate decide, pass that baby to me." he calls up to the now charmed goblin.

Even as this occurs Algret, Vik and Bo-dan have moved through the crowd allowing them to get close enough to act if needs be. All around them people sob and wail for ones they have lost, while others stare in horrified anguish at the tableau before them. It is only as they near the forcsatle proper that they see Mjobo lying on the deck, bleeding heavily from a wound to his ribs. Heal check DC 12

Spoiler:
The man still lives, though he is losing blood very quickly. Not so the goblin laying next to him with the marlin pike buried through its eye.
.

Everyone waits, wondering what the goblins will do at the robed mans words.

Going to Give Dergo a bit more time to post if he want to add anything. He's a pretty busy guy at the moment though so we may not hear from him. I'll wait till tomorrow morning Australia time

Some things to note. Milhars Charm has worked and the goblin now thinks of you asa trusted friend. How he responds to your advice we'll see :).

Knowledge (Arcana) DC 10

Spoiler:
The glowing vial is alchemests fire, though in this part of the world they call it Pharasma's Essence. The goblins call it Spark Oil. With that many vials, the fire would be very hard to put out, even with magical aid.

The group are about 30 feet from the goblins but you need to move up a flight of steps to get them. Milhar is a little closer than this. If you look on the deck plans on my DM page, they are pretty much standing at the number 1 on the forecastle. If you wish to try a rush attack or soething similar, you'll need to make some type of bluff check or a distraction to catch them by surprise.

Feel free to post ideas but remember Milhars Charm and suggestion needs to be resolved and lets give Dergo a cahnce to do something too. So I'll be taking those into account before resolving too much. We are not in round by round play at moment.

Bo-Dan, Algret and Paera need to make their secondry saves for the poison. DC is 12 +1 per dose you recieved. Damage is D6 dex damage which you can roll if you fail the save. Could be interesting for you up in the crows nest Pae :)

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

heal check (1d20=17)
Fort Save (1d20+3=14)

On seeing the severely wounded first mate, Bo-Dan, her eyes never leaving the Goblins, bends down and uses another charge of her Medallion on him. healing (1d8+1=3) checking quickly to make sure he is at least stabilized.

She edges closer to the stairs as she watches the tableau with the cloaked man and the goblin as it unfolds, ready to spring into action at a moments notice should the need arise.

if possible, she'll ready an action to run and tackle the goblin holding the explosives off of the ship, willingly going along with it if necessary. She will also make it a priority to make sure the bag goes along with them.

Female Dwarf Cleric of Torag 2

Algret moves closer, her eyes on the goblin's movements, trying to read the intent of the one with the knife. Sense Motive 1d20+3=14

She steps forward , inside of the range of her spell and mentally beseeches Torag for the blessing of his voice. Readied action to cast Command DC 14 (Halt=take no actions for 1 round) on whichever goblin first prepares to take hostile action.

In her peripheral vision she can see the young monk riseup on the balls of her feet, her body a coiled spring prepared to act. A low almost subsonic growl from Vik tells her he is ready to explode into action.

She flashes on an image, a hammer raised high above the anvil, frozen in the second before the strike. She feels...calm.

Male Ulfen(shifter) Barbarian 2

readied action: *time to get a little beserk* If/when we go into combat Vik will shift, and on his turn go into rage and move up to the goblins to unleash primal fury

The roar Algret hears is the inner beast starting to come over Vik. His eyes start to appear slitted like a feline's and the teeth and claws strat growing a little at a time.

Female Elf, Rogue 1, Init +3,Fort +0; Ref +5; Will +1, AC18/F14/T14, Hits 9/9, CMD 15, Low-light vision, Perception +7

Milhar holds out his hands for the baby.

With a sudden blink, the goblin holding the child shakes its head. "You are right red blood. I no honour get from this." he disgustedly throw the baby down into Milhars arms then screams a challenge to the crowd. "WHO SHALL FIGHT SKIST FOR RIGHT OF SHIP!".

His companion's jaw drops in stunned amazement at the display of stupid bravado, and it is this moment that the group have been waiting for. With an explosion of energy and rage, Vik is upon the bag holding goblin and Bo-Dan is beside him. It stares up at the raging catman and a small puddle starts to form at the base of its feet as the sheer terror of the situation finally grips its confused mind. This was death, as surely as if Pharasma herself were standing to take his hand and lead him to the hall of champions.

Ok, well the charm worked..like a charm really. I rolled a natural 1 for sense motive, so that's a surprise round for you. In the surprise round you get to move up to the opponents. I have Vik and Bo-Dan engaged in combat with one of them. Milhar caught the baby with the readied action. Algret can do something. Remembering that a surprise round only allows for half the actions (move or attack).

Need initiatives and actions for the standard round now that combat has started. Goblins rolled a 5!. Guess my luck ran out. IC isn't working for me atm so I'm rolling phyiscal dice, sorry aobut that.

Paera

Spoiler:
While this is going on below, you can see the griffon rider you saw earlier is desperately riding her wounded griffon towards teh ship. There are 4 goblins in pursuit and bothe the Griffon and rider have numeroues arrows sticking out of them.

Female Dwarf Cleric of Torag 2

As the child lands in the man's arms Algret's hand shoots out to release a dart of acid in the face of the goblin that dropped her.

IC down right now rolled at home ranged touch attack 1d20=18 1d6=3

"Fight me then! Come down here and die!"

Initiative 1d20=6

Female Half-Elf (Varisian) Rogue 1

Fort Save: 20! (phew! I would have taken 6 damage from that)

Paera could feel something burning in her blood, but somehow managed to keep her arms still as she held her aim on the goblin. She had intended to put an arrow in the goblin's head as soon as the child was safe, but as a dwarven priestess and some...she wasn't quite sure what...charged him, she lost her clear shot.

Looking away in frustration to see where Bo-Dan was, she noticed the incoming flyers. "Oh no..." Things apparently hadn't gone well for the city's aerial forces after all, she thought. She quickly let an arrow fly at the closest of the griffon rider's pursuers.

Ranged Attack: 21
Damage: 4

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Despite their actions, Bo-Dan feels it is right to give the goblins at least the chance to surrender says loudly and firmly "Through down your weapons and surrender and we shall allow you to leave the ship alive. Otherwise you shall surely die!"

(if needed- intimidate (1d20+1=7) )

Male Ulfen(shifter) Barbarian 2

How many rage points is that 1 for going and at least 1 for maintaining for 1 round so at least 2 can anyone tell me how to figure the point system.
Init 1d20+4= 12+4=16

with a feral roar Vik slices with fury at the goblin with the vial. if the strike kills him
With supernatural strength Vik's vicious swipe takes the goblin's head clean off and flies overboard.

attack 1d20+6= 19+6=25 damage 1d12+7=12+7=19

score one for the Vikcat. There is my one good role on IC today

Female Elf, Rogue 1, Init +3,Fort +0; Ref +5; Will +1, AC18/F14/T14, Hits 9/9, CMD 15, Low-light vision, Perception +7

One point to enter rage in round one, then each round at the start its one more point to continue it. Great dice rolls.

Milhar turns about with the baby and looks for a mother or father. He steps away from the combat.

"Who's child is this?"

Thank you so much for the power to help this child away. Thank you Source, I pray that such magic understands I do not wish for power, just the power to help.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

um, Gulp! Let's hope that didn't blow up the ship Vik!

Glancing in fury for the briefest second at the seemingly insane barbarian turned monster, Bo-Dan lunges desperately for the bag of glowing vials before they shatter on the deck likely destroying them all...

(would that be a reflex (1d20+4=23) or dex (1d20+2=20) roll?...phew! I hope....? )

With savagry few could match, Vik's axe swipes the head from the goblins shoulders. The decapitated head lands wetly on the deck and rolls off the boat, trailing gore behind it. The body stands swaying for the briefest moment before the hands drop limply to its sides and it crumples bonelessly to the deck.

The half elf monk standing next to the shifter leaps and slides under the goblin as it falls, grabbing the satchell of explosive oil and the single vial in it s hands before they can strike the deck and explode. Black blood spatters over he body for her efforts but nearly everyone who witnesses the event sighs in relief, realising that a disaster had been averted.

Algret's acid dart stikes unneringly and the challenging goblin screams in anger and pain as half its face is melted by the acid. It rushes forwards, its one remaining eye now glaring at the dwarf as crazed spittle forms in its mouth. "You'll die hard, Earth born. Serve me in the Halls you will"

It leaps over the rail, the sword in its hand held high to bring down on the armoured dwarf. The jump would have been spectacular if the little goblinoids foot hadn't clipped the rail. It tumbled with a sickening thump onto the main deck, right at the feet of the dwarf. A low groan indicating it was still alive. Accrobatics for the goblin to pull off a jumping attack 1d20-1=1. Guess my rolling luck is back to form

A young woman dashes from the crowd to grab the baby from Milhar. She is of Tien nationality, her dress of rich colour but simple material. A look of sheer and desperate joy fills her as she desperately cluthces the baby to her, crooning in the sing song language of her nationality. Her relief and shock is so complete she ignores the man who saved her baby.

A piercing cry has everyone look up in time to watch a large griffin come careening into the rigging of the ship. The birds flight is erratic and laboured, the dozen or so arrows sticking from its body testamount to the fighting it had endured. Behind it another group of wasp riders are buzzing angrily in pursuit, but an arrow from the crows nest strikes one of the riders hard and it tumbles from its saddle into the blue waters beow it. The other riders, seeing the bird is down break off pursuit and head back towards the city.

With a triumphant cry, the captain calls from the sterncastle "There goes the bar!. We are free of port!" There are no cheers from the people, as behind them, the sounds of screaming an fighting grow ever more distant.

Well you managed to save the ship. The last goblin knocked itself out jumping over the rail to attack Algret (a desperate move to get at least one attack in, failed horribly though). Nice rolls to catch that satchell Bo-Dan, I was trying to determine a percentage for it all blowing up before I saw those rolls and stopped bothering hehe.

The griffon is currently caught in the mizzen mast rigging, just below the first mast bar. The rider is strapped to her saddle, but not moving at the moment.

We are now in free form play. There is no desperate timeline to resolve the griffon situation. I'll doll out xp later tonight when I've calculated everything. Well done all

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

There is no motion from the Monk for a moment as she seems to be saying a silent prayer to herself. Soon though she begins to slowly stand and turn to face the barbarian. As the gore splattered half-elf finally finishes her movement and faces the sword wielding maniac, with the dark disgusting goblin blood trickling down from her hair, her face, even into the corners her tightly shut mouth and the look of pure fury on her face, she is a frightening presence to behold indeed in that moment.

Time seems to freeze in a tableau as many hold their breath, wondering what may become of the seemingly inevitable confrontation between the two. Finally however, the blood caked monk gives one slow shake of her head and begins to slowly and carefully leave the blood slippery fore castle. Perhaps, a few wonder, she had seen enough death for one day. It is obvious though, from the last look she gives the monstrous looking man, what her current low opinion of him is.

Continuing to slowly and carefully make her way towards the stern castle as she walks Bo-dan, with great care, places the single vial in the bag with the rest. Once she has one hand free she attempts to find a unsoiled corner of her sleeve and wipe the nauseating blood from her face as best she can.

When she reaches the captain she says "Captain, do you have a safe place we might store these? I can see their potential value, but if you think it safest I shall just throw them overboard."

Suddenly the attention of all on board is carried upwards at the great commotion of the gryphon crashing into the rigging. 'Sweat Pea!!' Her heart lurching in her chest Bo-dan calls out loudly "Pae! Are you all right!?"

My apologies if my timing sequence of events is a bit off, but I got carried away in the creative moment : ) I can rewrite it though if necessary. And yes, The Gods Bless IC for those rolls! lol

Female Dwarf Cleric of Torag 2

With a look halfway between amusement and disgust Algret steps over the unconscious goblin shaking her head. The tension reappears in her posture as she notices the young monk attempting to stare down Vik.

Muttered in dwarven (ulfen can understand)

Spoiler:

Never look a lion in the eyes when he's standing over a kill girl.

As others watch frozen in the moment she walks up the stairs to the forecastle, the half elf stalking angrily past her. As she walks towards the seething barbarian she speaks quietly and calmly.

Vik

Spoiler:
It's over tiger. Breathe. That one isn't used to fights that get messy. Not thinking straight.

Male Ulfen(shifter) Barbarian 2

Hearing Algret's voice he breathes deeply and calms down noticeably he ends the shift and rage after the stare down with the Monk
In Ulfen Algret can understand
Algret

Spoiler:

For those who look the lion in the eye share a similar fate.
Ungrateful spawn of a stinkin bear.

He then puts his axe away as he relishes the victory.

Female Elf, Rogue 1, Init +3,Fort +0; Ref +5; Will +1, AC18/F14/T14, Hits 9/9, CMD 15, Low-light vision, Perception +7

Milhar moves up to within thirty feet of the griffon and searches for the beast in the mists. But unless it is celestial born or goodness in animal form the Source will ignore the creature.

It can not be helped this way. And that flying griffon is as likely to harm anyone who helps it unless they have the right training.

Milhar moves up to Algret and Vik. "Thank you for saving the ship and its people. Well done."

He follows the half-elf monk and repeats his thanks.

Female Half-Elf (Varisian) Rogue 1

"Gods..." So much was happening, from the griffon and its rider now caught in the rigging, to the crisis narrowly averted below, and the fading screams in the distance. Gods...those people.... She wanted to sink to her knees right then and there, but there was still so much to do and it needed doing right now. Think about it later, there's still people in danger you can help, damn it!

She started for the ropes at the edge of the nest when she heard the call from Bo-Dan from below. Looking over the edge, she was shocked at how bloodied her lover had been, but the monk seemed alright... "Bo! I'm fine, just a scratch! I'm going after the griffon! We need to get him and his rider out of the rigging, now!" She shouted at any sailors she could spot. "HEY! GET UP THERE AND LET THEM DOWN EASY! DON'T GET TOO CLOSE AND DON'T PANIC IT!"

She then bolted for the ropes, examining the situation and trying to spot the best way to first get the rider to safety and then hopefully do the same for her mount.

Perception:12

Posted xp and loot in the OOC thread. Also Paera, I edited teh xp as I forgot to add the award for helping refugees off the docks. Will post some NPc interactions tomorrow morning, also feel free to have your characters interact a bit. Cheers.

Paera spots a set of guid ropes joining the two masts together. It would be a simple thing to climb along one to get to the workers platform near where the great beast was tangled. It was thrashing weakly at the ropes, its great body wracked with spasms from the poison obviously burning in its system. The rider attatched to its back flopped around with the movements of the Griffon, whether lifeles or unconcious could not be ascertained. You can take a ten on the climb check for no risk. That appplies to anyone wishing o get closer to the griffon. More tomorrwo.

Milhar

Spoiler:

Milhar is somewhat surprised to find a spark of soul in the great beast trapped in the rigging. Unfortunately its mind is too animalistic for you to communicate with through your powers. The fact that the source has reached this animal speaks volumes of its nature to you though.

Female Elf, Rogue 1, Init +3,Fort +0; Ref +5; Will +1, AC18/F14/T14, Hits 9/9, CMD 15, Low-light vision, Perception +7

Milhar climbs the lowest rigging then, to get closer to the creature. He waits and lifts one hand towards the helpless mount and rider.

The chance to save this noble griffon must be taken. Please let me find enough of a spark of goodness that the Source may heal its wounds. The pain and anguish that the arrows have caused should be eased by the White burning life-giving energy that surrounds us now.

Ranged touch attack on the griffon 14+2=16, Healing=2pts. Not much but then its only a token gesture. Thats for the xp.

Milhar looks at the difficult climb up the ropes and shakes his head. "This is beyond me," he murmurs.

Female Half-Elf (Varisian) Rogue 1

Yep, taking ten.

Paera saw the quickest path to get close to the wounded beast, and set herself to cautiously climbing across the guide ropes. She would have gone faster, but whatever was burning in her blood curbed her usual foolhardiness for the moment. Can't do them any good if I hit the deck from this high...

Her heart skipped a beat when she saw a flash of light strike the griffon, seemingly coming from a man climbing up the rigging. It didn't seem to cause harm, but she cursed under her breath and paused for a moment, wondering if the creature was going to panic.

If it doesn't:

"Stay away from the beak-y end!" Paera called out as she got closer. She tried to approach the griffon from above to see if she could get the rider loose without sending all three of them plummeting below.

I'm not sure which rolls are going to be needed here.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

At Milhar's thanks, her anger still cooling, she simply nods her head in recognition. After a moment though she adds "To you as well, there are two lives now who will forever be in your debt. I hope you know and accept the great responsibility for the rest of the child's life your heroic actions have placed on you now..." and she continues to make her way towards the stern castle with the deadly bag firmly in her grip.

After her interaction with the Captain (either leaving the vials with him or throwing them overboard) seeing her 'Sweet Pea' climbing towards the massive beast Bo-dan calls out "Pae! Be careful!"

She then begins climbing herself (taking 10) trying to get close enough to the noble creature and it's rider to try and determine their condition and heal them with her medallion if necessary. Being careful though she takes Paera's advice and approaches the gryphon from the opposite of the 'beaky' side.

As she considers using her medallion once again she puts her hand on it briefly thinking Mother, Father, wherever you may be, thank you for your gift and my ability to use it to aid others. Every time I do, I feel my connection to you. Aman 'llie (bless you)'

Wrath, please feel free to roll any heal, climb or any other checks necessary. And how's Mjobo btw?

The Captain starts calling orders to the remaining crew. Sails begin to be hallled into place, and lines are made fast as the great ship moves into deeper water. Seeing that things are again under his control, the wounded man turns to Bo-Dan and those others that are near him. "Well, a right mess we're in now, to be sure." his face is grim, and for a moment it appears as if he is going to add more angry comments, but hen he sighs. "Well nought for it now than to secure this ship and get these people ready for waht lies ahead. Me thanks to you, for saving my life and my ship. We've a long voyage ahead and thse folks need to be off this deck inorder to get the ship properly underway. There's room enough in the cargo hold, especially since we aint got no cargo nor supplies to speak of. Since I'm short handed, and you lot seem to be able to take care of yourselves somewhat, I leave it you to get them underneath and berthed."

His face then turns to the Griffon trapped in his rigging, before he shouts to those trying to free it. "We'll be needing that Sail afore too long. If you can't free the damned thing, then best dispatch it acn cut it free." he doesn't seem overly concerned about the rider.

Ok, in order to control the crowd and get them berthed, it's going to require some interaction. Diplomacy and intimidate can work here, obviously with different after effects though. Given how frightened they are, intimidate is somewhat easier at this stage. It will require at least 4 successful rolls to get people below and berthed, and anyone can contribute to them. The longer it takes, the harder it becomes. Controlling the crowd takes a minute per roll.

The griffon is stabilised by Milhars fire, which is good as it was bleeding. Handle animal checks required to calm it enough to cut it free. Since none of you have that you may need to come up with other methods. If people are struggling, make an untrained wisdom roll and if you score higher than 10 I'll give some insight, but you'll take an xp hit for it. If you approach before its calm, it will lash out with beak and feet. You could easily get knocked from the ropes from this. The rider is alive, but not moving. Both Pae and Bo Dan can see her bodyy is rigid and her eyes are fixed open, though they can dart from side to side slightly.

Please let me know what you are doing. Also, if you have specific people in mind to see or interact with, let me know.

Bo, Mjobo is stabilised but unconcious. He also has badly broken arms and ribs from the fall when the ship pulled away from the dock.

When Bo-Dan offers the captain the alchemists fire, the man looks fearful. "It's a bad business, fire on a ship. However, I think you're right girl, they could be too useful to be thrown. Leave them with me and I'll enure they're secured in the weapons room."

He takes the satchel gingerly from the monks hands then turns back to the helm.

Also forgot to add, there are a number of wounded that can be tended as well. Helmsman, Mjobo, 2 crew members with arrow wounds, the girl from the rear of the ship (she's pretty much fully healed but has a concussion that will require heal checks), minor wounds on a number of passengers. You'll need to get an infirmary going at some stage, pick a room you think can be used and see how you go cinvincing people to let it be used. Cheers

Milhar leaves the wounded griffon to the others above.

Once he finds out what the Captain wants doing, he starts moving through the crowds, talking to groups, discussing their woes and generally trying to appear helpful.

All we need are a few leaders. Like that dwarf and maybe one or two townsfolk that understand the need to clear the decks so that the ship can be sailed well. If I am lucky I shall find a healer or two but by the Source that may be too much to ask.

Milhar concentrates on his task for a minute, hoping for one or two willing leaders to step forward. If he faces problems, the gentle man tries to deflect the people from their anger or frustrtaion by pointing out,

"Look behind us, you could have been caught in that violence. Now that you are here and alive, it is time to let your Captain do his job or the goblins may fly after us."

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Once she gets close enough to realize that neither the Gryphon nor it's rider seem to be in danger of imminent death Bo-dan backs off a little ways to make sure she is well out of reach of the large and panicked creature's dangerous claws. Just in case, she calls out a general warning to Paera and any other sailors who may be coming to help "Do not approach the Gryphon until we can calm it! We don't need any other deaths this day!" When she hears the Captian's callous seeming suggestions the kind hearted half-elf frowns but doesn't say anything.

Suddenly an idea occurs to her 'With this many people on board surely there must be Someone who knows about Gryphons...or at least animals in general.. Moving further away from the avian so as not to disturb it and then calling out loud enough for everyone on the ship to hear her, she yells "People! People! Your attention for a moment please! We have an urgent situation here with this noble creature stuck in the rigging! If anyone knows anything about Gryphons or their care or has any expertise in handling animals in general, please gather at the base of this mast on the double! That means Now! "

"Also, someone please send for the Cleric, I believe the rider may be poisoned and mayhap the good Dwarf can help!"

She will continue to repeat herself as many times as necessary until she starts she see some response.

She then turns to focusing her attention on the rider, speaking to the woman she asks "Can you hear me? I am Bo-dan. Are you ok? I promise you we will free you and your beautiful steed without harming either of you, regardless what the Captain said. Ok? If you can hear me, try and move your eyes to the left for yes and to the right for no. Do you understand?

If the rider doesn't or can't respond, Bo-Dan begins cooing in Elvish to the Gryphon trying to calm it. She will begin to sing a Elvish nursery song she can still recall from her time in the orphanage. (Roll? Feel free)

Wrath, would there be any way to rig some sort of Lasso maybe to loop around the rider from above to then slowly lift her from the saddle?

Spoiler:

And also, I'm not sure what you meant when you said Algrath could recharge the Medallion with the Artificer Domain? Looking at the Domain, I don't see that ability anywhere. What am I missing? Too, did you mean that if charged by an artificer the medallion can only hold 1st level spells? Or that no matter how it's charged it can only hold 1st level spells? Thanks

People seem willing enough to Milhar, having seen his work at saving the baby. A small group of Tienese in particular gather around and listen to him as he speaks. One young man, of maybe 19 years steps forwards after hearing your instructions and begins to herd the mostly women and children below decks. He seems eager to please you, and his help at translating your instructions into the Tien language make the process smooth.

Milhar notices one Gharund staring at him intently while this is going on. Milhar only, Sense Motive DC 12

Spoiler:
The man seems to be staring daggers at you. The fact his hands are clenched and shaking speaks volumes of his rage and it seems to be directed your way. Curious.

Once people are belowdecks and settled, you can make gather info checks to track down people with specific skills if you'd like. Things are a bit chaotic at the moment. Once again, anything you feel might help with thise rolls can be used in game, like seeking specific people, or the way you pose the question etc. In essence, the descriptions you use to describe the act, will influence the rolls appropriately.

The crowd seems to be ignoring B0-Dan for the moment, possibly her position high in the rigging is affecting her abilty to threaten and cajole the crowd into following her instructions. The Half-Elf feels the frustration building in her as the situation seems to go unresolved. She knows they need to help the rider, but nothing she can think of at the moment will be of use until the bird is controlled.

Sorry Bo, even with good rolplay that first intimidate was a bit low to get what you were after :). The rope idea won't really work as the rider is strapped to the saddle, probably to prevent her falling off during the Griffons aerial maneuvres. Will use your other rolls as they become necessary. Waiting for some of the others to post before moving on with them first.

As for your other question

Spoiler:
To get a better understanding of the pendent, please remember it is a trait gift at this stage, which means it needs some serious limitations not to make it too powerful.

At first my initial role for it was as a self heal only for Bo-Dan, but I like how you're using it to heal others and will run with that.

Recharging - It can only hold first level spells for now. What's more, since you've chosen cure light wounds, that's all it can store. This is consistent with the idea of a low charged first level wand that the original trait offered. The campaign has the potential for specific types of casters to be able to recharge magic items, however they need appropriate craft skills and spells to do so. Note this is not how expendable items usually work so I've put this limitation in to make sure low level items don't become too powerful.

Since Algret has the Artificer domain, I've decided to give her the abilty to try untrained craft checks to recharge certain items, though she doesn't know it yet. It feels like a good abilty for a domain secifically about crafting. Also, it can't be recharged until a certain point, but you need ti understand arcane lore to really know why. All of this will play out in game as you use the pendant and start saking more about it.

Also, I want to make it a legacy item for you. This measn more powers will unlock as you grow in pwer. Monks are notoriously hard to leave gear for in games as loot, and this allows me an elegent wayto give you bonuses to AC or attacks etc as you level, without arbitrarily dropping loot for no reason. Hope that's all satisfactory Khal.

Liked your response to Vik btw, it was good to see the two different responses to teh same situation. Cheers

Milhar misses the Garundi (Sense Motive 4) and continues gently cajoling the people below. He asks the Tien man to translate requests for an animal handler (for the griffon) and healers. This request he will pass on to the others that he herds below decks.

Meanwhile he stops a passing sailor. "A hot drink would do these people good. Can we start brewing up a large vat of something? Show me where the kitchen is, please."

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Thanks for your answers Wrath, that's all perfect. And I'll wait for a little bit to see what happens with Bo's demands/requests of the crowd. Good thing that fellow who rescued the baby is so charming! Cheers

Vik's fearsome demeanor, particulallry with the goblinoid blood still spattered across him, causes the crowd to practically flee before him. While no where near the panic of earlier, the crowd is still very unsettled and many of the children are upset when at last they settle into the cargo hold. The captain was right, there seemed to be room aplenty for the passengers that had arrived, but when they set down their gear and took up a space for themselves, the cargo hold seemed small and cramped suddenly. What's more, the enclosed spaces made the hold both noisy and hot in a very short period of time.

As Vik moved through the crowded room, looking to find Algret now he had gotten the crowd belowdecks, he noticed a few people making the sign of wardng as he walked past. Worse was the response from the children, who cringed into their mothers arms or fled screaming as he came near.

Milhar's ability to talk to people with ease once again seemed to pay off. An old sailor, by name of Thom Escariott, led him belowddecks to the Galley. The room was large, and had a cook stove and utensils all around, every item secured in is place either with a latch or hanging in such a way as to sway with the ship and prevent clashing. A large Ulfen stood in the room, making inventory of the suplies he had organised for the morning when the two others walked in. "Morning Thom" he rumbles, his accent making the words roll from the tongue. "I see tha Gnome got us out of trouble again, Ja?".

"Aye Jaekel, and this bloke helped a few things too. Wants us to see to feeding all them new people on board, maybe settle em somehwat.". The Sailor nods his head in Milhars direction. Jaekel looks down at the sorceror and sems to study him for a moment, before letting out a great guffaw of laughter. "Well little man, you can help me cook up this great feast then. All we got is oats for feeding that many, and we'll be needing to be sparing with them if I'm any guess. As for drink, whe have Chufa to warm and calm em, though the kids will need small amounts only or they'll be bouncing out their skin." His eyes seem to twinkle with mirth, though something else hides beneath. "Now you go with Thom here and get to the stuff below decks, I'll get some water to boiling and we'll see what we can do for these doomed souls of yours." Again Milhar notes a hint of something in his voice when he says this. Sense motive DC 12

Spoiler:
The man seems on the verge of depression. When he calls the people doomed souls, his voice is laden with sadness.

The captain glares at Algret as she approaches, about to yell at her to get off his deck when she mentions the wounded. Again he seems to get himself under controll before replying. "Galley's where we do our cooking girl. Best take one of the rear cabins near there instead. The port cabin is empty at the moment. You'll need to get help from those below to move them though, most of my crew are busy setting rigging or geting that damnable catbird out the misenmast. You do what you can to save them folk though, and if you run into trouble from folk for it, you let me know." He then turns back to his work, guiding the ship on its way through the waters. As algret walks away to gather people to help move the wounded, she notices a brightly dresed gnome move onto the deck and ead to the captain. The two then engage in a very animated conversation but the dwarven priestess can't see too much before she moves belowdeck with the injured people.

In the rigging, both Pae and B0 are starting to despair of ever getting the griffon to safety. Below them, a strong womans voince calls up from the deck. It is a halfling woman, dressed in the tribal clothing of the steppes nomads so common in the Sun empire. Her leather vestments are obviously made from the the sturdy hides of teh big sauropods these folk migrated with. She looks up into Bo-Dans eyes and calls again "The quiet one says you need some help with the Guidong. I can aid you." With that she climbs up near the two half elves, and the three sailors who have now gathered near. "I'll try to calm it girls, its up to you to get it free. I'm thinking one of the wings are broken, and it's back is sure to be wrencehd from the crash. Please be careful, I'll be close to the head and if it gets hurt...well that beak is sharp." With that she moves through the tangled lines near the great beast and begins to croon in the tribal tongue of her people. The animals eagle head watches her come, tilted on the side somehat so both eyes can see her more clearly. Before long she is stroking its beak and the beast is calm.

Well nearly there. You can cut the Griffon and rider free now. It will take a strength check of 15 to lower the griffon to the main deck without casuing her harm. A big enough fail will cause it to lash out, and that won't be pleasent. There are three sailors to help though.

If you hadn't guessed, Chufa is like coffee. Served warm it helps as a stimuulant for tired sailors and soldiers alike. There's plenty of it to go aroundas you only need a very small amoutn to flavour the water its served with. Interestingly, you don't mix milk or sweetener with it. Has a taste more like mocha than true coffee. Milhar, if you help in the galley you'll be there for a while.

The new infirmary will be cramped. You do get assistnace from a young Tienese girl who has some healing ability though. Her name is Siu-Dien, probably 20 years of age. Quite pretty, for a human girl. Mjobo will require heal checks to set his bones again. The helmsan needs extended rest or a few curaive spells to get mobile again. the others are merely rest cases. One good channel energy will fix most of them, but not sure how you want to use those. As with Milhar in the galley, your work in the medical bay will take quite some time.

Vik, you're free to help where you will :).

Female Half-Elf (Varisian) Rogue 1

"Whew!" Paera was relieved that someone who knew something about these animals was onboard. She listened intently to the halfling woman, nodding as she hung upside down fromt the ropes she had her legs wrapped about. "Gotcha! Bo, you ready? You gents too?"

She grabbed one of the ropes entangling the beast and waited until the others seemed to have a firm hold themselves, and then cut the end with her dagger.

Milhar shakes his head in the kitchen. "I am not good in a kitchen but there are plenty of people on board who have every reason to help. Let me fetch you some willing souls. Chufa would be good."

Milhar will stay and help if given the slightest argument, otherwise he heads back to the hold to enlist one or two good kitchen specialists.

"The kitchen needs a few helpers to cope with all of you. It is in your best interest to help provide food and drink for the little ones. Unfortunately I do not know a ladle from a lady."

Paera is surprised at just how light the Griffon and rider are. With the three sailors helping an Bo-Dan also assisting, the task was very easy. Once on the Deck, the little halfling woman directed everyone to get the bird to the lee of the Sterncastle. "We'll need to set upa shelter above decks for the beast. It'll take some time to heal it before it can take to the air again I assure you."

Of equal imprtance to the two half elves was the aralysed rider. She was only young, in her late teens. The magnificent arour of the noble house of the Sun Emperor was rent ina few places, but clearly it had saved her life. The two women cut her free of the saddle and carried her belowdecks, heading towards the infirmiry.

Vik had only just finished getting the last people into place when the two HalfElves from the rigging came in carrying the griffon rider, he moved with them as they headed towards the makeshift medical bay. Milhar was moving amongst the people, asking for anyone who could help in the galley.

All four turned at a sudden angry cry "MURDERER!". A thin Gharund man was standing amongst a crowd of others of his race. They all looked towards Milhar, the accuser had his finger pointing and his face was red with anger. "You think you can come in here and order eople about after what you did on the docks. WE SAW YOU!" The group behind him were angry, and some of them looked to have weapons.

Milhar hangs his head when he realises what they know. He puts his hands to the side, open and weaponless.

Then he nods. "It was them or all of us. I could not let you all die to save a few more. I shall carry the pain for my actions and I freely admit that I helped them to die. But I had no choice. The ship would have been swamped and we would all be dead or worse."

The ex-servant looks around at the anger and hatred he has caused.

Milhar pulls out his swords and lets them clatter to the deck. "But I will take your punishment for cutting the gangway. Any lost life is a crime."
