Just posted mine and it's along the same lineas what you were thinking before. But it's one of those decisions that wears a person down. Also, Algret is less inclined to ignore anything that may threaten the refugees as she grows closer to the children.

The Exchange

The key for Milhar is that he let the bugbear evil get away from the ship and look what happened. He does not want to let that happen again at the ruins.

Our DM will crucify us with it if we let him.

Fun huh?

The Exchange

M

I'm hoping I haven't made this an unpleasent situation. I wanted a real decision rahter than a token one, but I don't want players feeling bad about this process either. Can tone that kind of thing down if you want me to.

Anyhows, looks like fighting evil it is. very tired at moment so will update properly tomorrow night, sorry for the delay folks. Busy time as a teacher at end of year.

Cheers

Wrath, this is good. Plenty of RP potential. And I think everyone here is mature enough not to take PC friction personally.

While I personally don't care which way we go, Pietro is definitely for the village first. I'll rationalize going to the ruins somehow if that's everyone's preference.

I'm trying to time his next speech. Thanksgiving in the U.S. may screw up my posting. I hope I don't miss it. If I do, Pietro won't be confident enough to speak up.

Yeah really, besides you've got the a list here. We expect you to push us to new levels of role \play, in fact I'd venture to say it's why we all love this game. From the moment the mooring lines of the boat were cut, it's been a game of decisions, some of them grey, and honestly, it makes for an amazing story.

More 3 dimensional.

The Exchange

I just like stabbing things.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Why so particular about how?

I just want to kill, , kill, kill!
Dead burnt bodies!
Veins in my teeth!
I mean kill! Kill!

Bonus points for anyone who can explain the thanksgiving reference

The Exchange

M

I'm going to do something bit radical here. Since its a PbP and since my holidays start in two weeks, I'm going to split the party.

It makes good sense character wise for certain characters to go to the village and others to go with the orcs. Rather than force characters to make a sacrifice or do the DM's bidding, I'm happy to run both parties.

This is my proposed split

Group 1 - (rescuing survivors) Pietro, Cynthia and Bo-Dan . Paera is going to tag along with them as an NPC. Note they have two healer types here (Bo Dans necklace, Pietros lay on hands)

Group 2 - (destroying evil) Algret, Milhar, Vik, Symmington. Also two healer types (Milhar and Algret). No NPC's for this one. The orcs will be busy with something else entirely.

Both groups seem well balanced. Both have good reasons to go. The bonus is you get stories for the price of one. I won't spoiler stories, just specific bits of info as we go along.

Also, 4 players each group makes it easier to balance encounters for me. I'll be using pre written adventures for this, though I have to change many of the encounters. This makes my work easier than all the stuff we done so far since I don't have to make any of it up either

Lucky for holidays I say hehe.

Will get this ball rolling tomorrow Brisbane time, today is very full now. Hope you guys are happy with this. Rather than bog down in any more role play debate, we'll run with this.

Cheers

AKAA- "I ate too much, so now I'm going to sit on the sofa and moan all day" day!

:)

Actually, since it's Saturday, I think I ate so much I lost an entire day!

Judging from all of the posts I missed (On all my threads, not JUST this one!) It looks more like I lost a week! ;P

Haven't even read the IC thread yet Wrath, but if you can run with the split, I'm good with it.

PC angst good! INtrospective Analysis better! Second guessing yourself in IC thread,... PRICELESS!!!

Yeah she only has one because I got to choose one and you were to choose/create one for her. To be honest I forgot about it too. :)

Additionally, I havent forgotten about the extra info for you regarding your race, just haven't any real time to dedicate to it at the moment. Holidays start for me soon so you'll get a hell of a lot more then.

I'll have your trait sorted by weeks end though. Hopefully before you have to fight anything :)

Wrath, your plan sounds good to me. Thanks for taking on the extra work.

Rags, ditto for me. I thought posting would slow down with the T-day holiday, but my threads have all plunged ahead at full speed. I'm so behind.

I have a request for my rules-wise friends.
I have decided that I would like to try and enter the Superstar contest. I finally received a small flash of inspiration, and believe I have an idea that might be worth it.

My question to you all is, if I were to email you (NOT POST!) my proposed entry, could you/would you be so kind as to Email me back your individual thoughts on it? No discussing between us, (I want this to be my creation, not a group project!) ;P just honest first-impression feedback. Having no local game group (currently) to rely on, I turn to you, my PbP co-conspirators, for assistance.

If you would be interested, and so kind, as to help me with this, please post your email here under a spoiler (spelled out if you feel safer that way, Or I can post my email here, and those interested can email me theirs.)

Thank you,

Yeah I'm entering again, wouldn't miss it for the world! :)

I have something in mind, I just have to make sure something similar hasn't been done yet and hash out the Mechanics of it.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. It's been a long time since I created something from scratch. (That wasn't a munchkin's teenage dream!)
Hashing out the rough draft now.
I THINK It's a cool idea, but my biggest fear(s) are:

1) It's been done before, and I didn't know about that book, (Or I read it years ago and my 'flash of genius' was really an old memory)

2) I get the PF item creation rules wrong, since I don't (yet) own a copy of PFRPG! (I know, I know, I'd claim it's because I'm a Scrooge, but the truth is, I just can't seem to save up enough to actually go and BUY the thing!) ;P

Thanks again, I'll email it out in a couple of days.

All for One, and One for Superstar 2010!!!

Hey! This is wonderful! And if he is so kind as to not mind, I will copy Rags' great idea of relying on my fellow PbPers in this game for advice/comment/criticism etc, as I to have no other resource to call on, PBPing being my only means of getting my group D&D fix in. ;-)

I've just now learned that the Superstar contest is back on again for next year but I have been working on an original idea for an entire Adventure Path for a couple months now (so far it would be at least 5 or perhaps 6 volumes but I've started with what would be volume #3 of the 5)

If any of you would not mind me sending my current work for your opinions as well, please let me know, and Rags, if you wouldn't mind also I would love to have your opinion too. Either way, it would be my pleasure to give you my comments on yours.

This is a hard post to write. Surprisingly hard actually.

You may have noticed I have struggled to get updats going regularly over the last few weeks. Much of it has been work, but more and more so real life demands of family and other situations are taking up my time. My family in particular is my key focus in life, always has been and always will be.

The other day my daughter asked me to play with her and I told her I would as soon as I finished my computer stuff. She stormed off telling me "You never finish your computer stuff". That hurt a great deal, especially since she's only 5 and she wasn't lying.

I have a bit of an addictive nature when it comes to these things. I get a little compulsive about checking for updates and it then takes an age for me to construct and write my updates. This takes away from family time, both kids and wife.

My wife is good about it all, but it isn't fair on her, particularly since my work takes up lots of my time.

Holidays are here, but my commitments to real life have increased, not relinquished. The good news is that means I am getting a very full life heheh. The bad news, and I truly do feel bad about it, is I need to pull back from my online addiction...again.

This is an all or nothing process for me I'm afraid. I am giving this group a full accounting of what the issue is, because you all committed great amounts of time to my game, and I think you deserve it. I will be pulling out of my other games as well. They'll not be getting the big run down, but many of us overlap in these anyway.

My sincerest appologies for letting you all down in this gentlemen, but as I've always said, real life always comes before gaming.

I thank you all for the great game, your writing was excellent and your characters allowed my game world to come alive.

Cheers

The Exchange

Wow - I can't say that I saw this one coming. What a shame.

Wrath, you have done a masterful job and it has been a great game so far. I'll miss it and the other PC's, but family trumps every time. And I can just see my son saying the same thing one day if I'm not careful.

One thing I'd like you to think about is that I ran a very enjoyable Arabian game and did the same thing as you are, and now I find myself regretting I took such draconian action. Rags and thereal thom played in it, and there were many other good players which you rarely get as a pbp DM. The thing is that all or nothing is my style too and I wish it wasn't.

Good luck mate.

P.S. I did want to reduce my games over the next six months but this wasn't one I expected to finish any time soon.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Wrath, I am very sorry to hear this, but completely back up your decision. I suspect that the invasion of game-time into real life is an issue for most of us on these boards. I for one really enjoy hanging out and playing here, but often notice that I've neglected RL concerns while playing. Always little things, like being 10 minutes late to dinner because I put up a post before leaving work, but they add up.

Thank you all, for a great game. I really enjoyed reading your posts. Truly a great group.

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

While I have been and am in many great games online, I can say without hesitation that this has been the best one of them all thus far. There's several reasons for this but mainly it has been the masterful writing of both our GM and my fellow players.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't very disappointed to see this game go the way of the Dodo (as, unfortunately, So many of them do) yet at the same time I understand, and can not but salute, your reasons for doing so Wrath. I sure will miss your stellar input in all the games we're involved in together though.

The inner optimist in me is still holding on to a thread of hope that perhaps you'll manage to arrive at some sort of compromise and be able to return to at least One game (like, oh, just for example, This one ;-)

But if not, then I wish you a fond farewell and the best of luck in everything. And the same goes for anyone else in this game who I may not have the chance to interact with again. (although, these boards being the way they are, I'm am sure that it is not goodbye for most of us)

Finally, in mind of keeping in touch, I'd still very much like to have the feedback of you all on my upcoming adventure path proposal and am very happy to give my opinions to any who desire them on their work.

All the best everyone and thanks so much for such an enjoyable game.

Cheers, Happy Holidays and a Fantastic New Year to you and all your loved ones!

James

Wrath, I also understand completely, and support your decision wholeheartedly. Like most of us, I also find myself spending far too much time perusing the boards instead of,... oh, pretty much everything I shouldn't be putting off! ;P

Actually, I recently have made an effort to make sure that I don't spend too much of what should be family time on the PC by limiting myself to getting on after the kids have gone to bed. (You may have noticed, most of my posts have been around or after midnite!) I can claim only moderate success so far, (and the reduction in sleep hasn't been a great trade off). ;)

WHile I share in the wish that perhaps, after the holidays maybe, you will find the ability to rejoin us, I wish you nothing but the best, and completely respect your choice. Family comes first. And it's WAY too easy to get sidetracked.

I'm wrestling with the choice myself. I would be extremely sad to have to give PbP's up, since I have no other way to get a gaming fix currently. But I guess, like any other addiction, cold turkey is sometimes the only way to go!

Have the most joyous of holidays and enjoy your family!

~Merry Christmas!

I know this is a little late in coming, but I, like all of you have a hard time balancing between real life and online. I have been off and on because of school and just saw this message because of finals. I just want to say that it has been an honor to be part of this with all of you. I would love to game with any/all of you again in the future.

Wow, can't believe it's been TWO YEARS since this game ended!

Just found out Wrath was back on the boards so thought I'd post here just to see if any of the old Fall of Nations gang was still around?

If so, Happy 2012 to ya all!

I can't believe it's been two years.

I only picked up on this because Rags posted at around the same time I was updating something.

Glad to see this game worked for you guys. I was very sorry to have to give it up, but it turns out that running Homebrews is just something I no longer have time for. I even had to give up the Kingmaker game I had been running for a year here recently, as it was becoming more homebrew like as well.

I would relaunch this campaign if ever time permitted. I actually regularly think about certain character plots I had and the game design I was going for when I had to wrap it up.

Rags, I'll do a cap of what was gonna go on with your character if you'd like. He was messed up, but the plot was fantastic if we'd gotten to it.

Khal, I can do somethign similar for you bud, but yours was more freeform after we lost your partner. I had some nice ideas about your bloodline and a spirit trainer for you though.

Cheers

Hey Wrath!
Glad to see your still around!
I keep seeing your new threads, but haven't had a chance to lurk. Hope they're having as much fun as I did! :D

I completely understand. Homebrew can be tough, but PbP adds it's own multiple levels of confusion. ;) I just appreciate you putting all the thought and effort you did into it.

Yeah, I'd love to see the plot you had lined up for me.
(I always liked giving teh GM room to play with my PC background. It usually meshes well with my own craziness!)

Heya FW,

Im not able to restart this baby sorry. I had to kill my Kingmaker game as well since it became too homebrew like and I seriously don't have time for that stuff in my life any more.

However, Like I offered for Rags, I'm happy to post in some detail of where I planned on taking your character if you'd like.

However, my Runelords game is still running and if you'd like back in I reckon I can make room for you.

You have six players already and every time I look things seem to be flowing well. Let sleeping dogs lie or dont upset the applecart. I am dipping my toe in the gaming at the moment so I'd rather take it slow.

I haven't forgotten you two btw, just busy at the moment. I'll get your character info out soon as I can.

My wife and kids are all going well thanks. I think I finally managed to hit that perfect balance of commitments. My work suffers a little, but if I was to choose a place in which to sacrifice time commitment, then work is it. I know it sounds cliche, but kids grow up damn fast. I'm glad I made sure to spend the time with them when I did as young kids.

How are your respective families btw. I believe you both have young ones at home too. Lovely little critters aren't they?

Absolutely.

Pretty little 2 year old girl who is way ahead of the curve. And a great 5 year old son who is turning into a fine young man. These could be the best years of all.

See you got Feldspar back. Good for you.

Glad to hear it! (Both of you!) :)

My own not-so-little monsters, er munchkins, are both doing well.
My 12-yr girl old got my 8-yr old boy interested in doing theater with a local community christian theater group, so he auditioned and got the part of Abu (monkey) in the musical Aladdin Jr! (Can you say type-casting?) :)
So the next couple of months, I can't even fuss at him for acting like a monkey!
