M Human Lots of class, and high levels of it!

So, here's the deal. I'm a brand new player to PFS, signed up to do some sessions at GenCon, picked up the Core Rules....liked it, Picked up the Field guide and Bestiary, like those too.....Problem is I haven't found people to get a game going locally, so here I am online looking for some players to run a game for.

So, what I'm looking for: I'd prefer to have new players first, I'd like to not look like a complete fool fumbling around for rules in front of you guys out there that have been playing for quite a while :)

So, if your interested, I'd love to run a game for you new players like myself.

Rules I can run are from the COre book and the Field guide...Sorry, I don't have the other books yet, so I can't really go with whats in those.

If your not sure how to roll up a character you can always use the Pre-Gens and then apply the rewards you get with those pre-gens to your first real character that you plan to play with going forward.

Any questions, feel free to send me a message and I'll do my best to answer!

I've got experience with PF, but I'm willing to play with a beginner DM, and actually help out(not a rule layer, more into RP). The question is when do you want to play, as I'm probably on the other side of the ocean(GMT+2, +3 right now due to DST)

M Human Lots of class, and high levels of it!

I'm in -5 GMT, but I figure if we can get at least one post a day out of everyone we'll be able to keep the game going fairly well. Not really a new DM, just new to PF, I've done a few PbP for 3.5 in the past, and have been playing RPG for years, so I'm thinking I'll be able to keep things rolling fairly well, but help is always appreciated.

My bad, didn't notice this was a play by post topic(came here through google), please forgive me. Not really looking for a PbP, sorry to disappoint. Best of luck to you, sir!

A massive elf with almond-shaped eyes and clad in what seems to be black heavy armour with an uncommon design makes a polite entrance. His accent and facial features imply that he's Tian... yet he has an intimidating feel almost similar to that of a Cheliax enforcer.

Good day to you all. A human woman appears in the room, wearing a simple set of grey robes, hood pulled over her head. She stands a little taller than five feet. You all can call me Rachel. It looks like you two men are warriors. Well, I weild a different kind of power, as I am a sorceress. A small hawk flies from the back of the room and lands smoothly on her shoulders. And this is my companion, Razor the Hawk.

A chamberlain quietly steps into the small antichamber that you have all gathered at in prepration of your first mission as new Society members. Quickly looking over the lot of you he motions for you to enter the adjoining room. "If the lot of you will please come this way, the Venture-Captain is ready to see you."

OOC: Once everyone has posted their Intro we'll begin this little shindig. Enjoy a few posts to get to know each other and I'll post again after I get back from shopping. If I don't hear from the others by then I'll move them along with you three and they will just be the strong silent type for a few posts.

Ambrus Valsin looks up from his desk as your small group enters his study. The man that has made your life hell for the last year as you were trained now addresses you, "All right, Pathfinders! Listen up. I know you are new recruits eager to make names for yourselves in the organization, but first we need to make sure you are up to snuff and won't get yourselves killed out there. I have a number of small assignments for you and your team, and it would be best if you could finish them before the day's end." looking the small group over again he continues.
"Every day we get some doe-eyed hopeful or some sniveling bootlicker willing to do anything to join up with the Pathfinders. Most of them are good kids, but not all of them have the salt to make it in a world like this. It's rough out there, and I'm not just talking about the ruins, tombs and wilderness Pathfinders find themselves in on missions. We've got people who look down their noses at us, folks who think we squander our resources, and agents who want to take everything we have collected. This wealth of knowledge and these items of lore make us the most powerful organization on the planet. That said, since we are fractured and widespread, it's difficult for that power to light on anything for too long. For every friend of the Society there are two enemies."
"Your first mission, to test your mettle and loyalties, sends you to meet a few people important to the Society living here in Absalom. These are other venture-captains or close allies of our organization, so follow their orders as you would mine. I've prepared a list of things I want you to do. They're not arranged in any particular order or importance, but I want them all completed as quickly as possible. Only report to me once you complete them all. Included in the envelope you hold in your hands is the list, complete with the names of your contact, and directions to the meeting location." As he finishes his short speech he motions to the folded and sealed paper at the corner of his desk before turning back to the papers scattered on his desk, obviously dismissing you to be about your assigned tasks.

Contents of sealed letter:

----------

  • A man named Guaril Karela runs a curio shop in the Docs called the Pickled Imp. Go to him and fill his request as a favor to the Society. I believe it has something to do with a set of rare books.

  • Ollystra Zadrian requested aid and is expecting you at the Temple of the Shinging Star in the Ascendant Court. She needs someone to deliver a parcel of medicine and curatives to a needy orphanage and verify the character of the recipient.

  • Visit the offices of Osirian nobleman Drembhet Salhar in the Wise Quarter. The Pathfinder Society needs to obtain permission to delve the Salhar ancestral vaults beneath Sothis. He has made a verbal agreement, and your visit makes it official. You will receive an official charter and detailed maps. Do not embarrass the Society in this matter.

  • Chelish Paracountess Zarta Dralneen possesses an item loaned from the Vaults. Meet with her in her estate and the Ivy District and retrieve the item in her possession.

Jubei raises one eyebrow as he reads through the written objectives.

"These tasks seem... Unchallenging. Yet if we are required to fulfill them as proof of our worth, then I will be happy to see them accomplished."

Jubei turns to his companions and politely asks,

May I suggest that we visit the Paracountess first? I am not overly fond of dealing with Chelish authorities due to certain circumstances, but it seems that this particular errand is easiest to achieve."

Suddenly, a stout and out-of-breath half-orc crashes through the door, a flummoxed clerk trying in vain to keep up with him.

The half-orc waves halfheartedly at the group as he struggles to catch his breath. A longbow, along with one of the largest axes any of you has ever seen, poke over his shoulder.

Harboth...Redacre...at your service he puffs, hands on his knees. Harboth takes a deep breath, straightens up, and addresses Valsin:

Reporting for duty, SIR! So what's the job - bandits? raiders? deserters? giant rats in the cupboard?

Once presented with the letter, Harboth frowns at it as he reads.

So, running errands, is it? Fair enough. Nothing stands out to me, so I'm fine with visiting the Paracountess first.

As the small group sets out from the Grand Lodge heading north they are struck as always by the old truth, there are no foreigners in Absalom. People of all races pack the streets outside of the Lodge. Surrounded by the buzz on a hundreds of different languages as they pass block by block toward the beautiful gardens of the Ivy District, where the Paracountess keeps a large townhouse, the flack of Cheliax flying over head.

Read nothing into this:
feel free to give Perception checks if you like, there are all kinds of things to notice in these quarters of the city, and I just like to use the spoiler options :)

The large Gothic building stands three stories high, the black lacquered doors wrought with silver fixtures and a brass cone hanging from a chain serves as a chime. Shortly after ringing it a servant in loose casual attire opens the door, greeting you as if expected. "My mistress with answer any questions you have once we reach her quarters." he offers as he invites you into the home, leading the way deeper into the structure and up the stairs. Once of the third floor of the well appointed home he Knocks on a door before opening it to reveal a large sitting room.

Sitting behind a large desk is a woman, you can only assume the Paracountess regards you with a wry smile, putting away a few papers before standing to address you.

"Aldor, you are dismissed. Close the door behind you and attend to your other tasks." she then turns her attention to the group. "It's always so incredibly adorable when I see a fresh faced batch of Pathfinders. I mean, look at you scrumptious little teacakes. I could eat each and every one of you up...Well, maybe not you." The Paracountess points in a vague way, giving each of you the impression that she was pointing to someone else. "I assume this isn't a pleasure visit since most of you are terribly overdressed for that manner of occasion, so this must mean you are here for that trinket Valsin has been nagging me about. Seems I can't get that man around these parts anymore." she gestures, sliding her hand down her body and widening the gesture to sweep out and across the room as if her home were a secondary thought. "On the good side, he always sends me all the precious new recruits."
'May think we in Cheliax serve and worship devils, but that couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, we use the creatures for their power. They serve us and we sculpt their power in our own interests. The world must come to terms with the order of things. People need to know their place and operate accordingly. It is the only way to make order from this world. Too many people stretch too far beyond their station, making waves and eroding the true order."

As she finishes addressing you the sound of wood crashing on stone can be heard from the rooms west door. Frowning she explains, "A servant is greatly misbehaving. You're going to have to deal with it in order to get the trinket." going over to the desk in her study, she opens a drawer and withdraws an exquisite silver letter opener shaped like a dagger. "You might need this to get it to submit." she offers with a sly grin, holding out the overly sharp letter opener for one of you to accept.

Walking toward the door she explains "Your looking for a small locked box, I've been trying to study the contents but, as of yet, have been unable to bypass the protections on it....I'd advise you not to try to open it yourselves." she says with a smirk. With that she inserts a key into the door, but does not unlock it, motioning for you to do so and enter when ready.

Jubei draws out his Nodachi from behind him and with a jerk of his head, motions any of his companions to open the door. He then positions himself about 10 feet away from the front of the door, ready to hack whatever possible hostile thing may come through.

Harboth eyes the Paracountess suspiciously, as though he knows he must be the one recruit she would not "eat up," but can't be quite sure the opposite isn't true. He draws his greataxe and edges toward the door, next to Jubei.

Silly question: does the door open out or in? If it opens in, Harboth will say I'll give it a shot. What could go wrong? If it opens out, he will suggest that one of you lightly-armored types should open the door. Jubei and I will stay in the way of...whatever is in there.

Upon opening the door you see the Paracountesses bedroom inside, decorated in the colors of Cheliax - ebon black and crimson red. Silk, rare woods, and carefully carved marble compose every bit of furniture in the room. Goose down now litters the room, covering almost every surface and the silken shreds of the cushions that contained it lie about like flayed skin. A post on the massive screened bed is snapped in half, collapsed on the bed and drawing the screened curtains intoa ripped slope of formerly fine cloth. Vials of perfume and crystal jars of other cosmetics sit smashed on the marble floor around the dresser. A prominent fixture in the room, a large "X" made of stout wood sits along the west wall, complete with leather shackles and chaines. A table sits to its left strewn with items intended for pleasure, but outwardly resembling implements of pain.

On the bed stands a small imp, intent on bashing a small locked box against the hard stone wall as it spits curses at the offending box. It doesn't even notice you as it grabs up whatever is at hand to try to pry the thing open.

As you enter the room the Paracountess softly says "Have fun..." with a smirk she sets the letter opener on a side tape just inside the door, before closeing it again. If you check, you'll notice she has not locked it behind you.

Elwyn:
As you exited the Grand Lodge, and for several blocks afterward you notice you are being tailed. A fellow Pathfinder sent to keep an eye on the lot of you, or something else?

Behind the door, DC 15:
The only thing you hear is the sounds of mayhem, items being thrown about, glass shattering, and cursing.

The Imp has not noticed anyone, nor is he likely to as intent as he is on opening the locked box.

Harboth turns to his new mates and whispers,
I've an idea. I'll sneak up on the imp and grab him. One of you stick this in his face... - he picks up the letter opener from the side table and brandishes it to the group, looking for someone to take it - ...and we'll see if we can't get him to play nice. Well, I was going to give a -4 on the grabble check since you've got an inkwell in your other hand, but a 20 would have covered that as well for a flat footed imp, so :P.

As soon as Elwyn's hand closes around the little imp it drops the box with a very undevilish squeek, its tail lashing furiously as it looks to see who has grabbed onto it, expecting it's Mistress it is not so suprised that it doesn't instantly turn itself invisible when it sees the strange half breeds, one with a silver dagger, and begins to squirm to free itself. Harboth's silver letter opener quickly darts in and slashes the little beast a viscious wound across its lower quarters, narrowly missing Elwyn's hand that is desperatly trying to keep hold of the tiny invisible creature.
