OOC: Elwyn, you sneak like crap, but your Perc check does show you a lever inside the bust's mouth. There is not much to say in regards to the dungeoneering check.
OOC: Everyone, you have to tell her which way to go, or let her in on why your here so she can lead you into a tra....errr, to where your going :)

![]() |

Elwyn announces, “I think I see some type of lever in the mouth of that bust, should we investigate, I could check if it's trapped or perhaps someone with mage hand could pull it from a distance?”

![]() |

Harboth slips into the room, his eyes and nostrils open for any nasty surprises.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Since that thing has an opening, we'd better not stand in front of it if we pull that lever. That's a, uh, trick my, uh, father taught me.
So which way do we think we'll find jade swords and old Qadiran documents?

![]() |

Perhaps it would be wise for me to check for and potentially disarm the trap if there is one rather than dealing with the consequences afterwards, then you can use mage hand to pull it

FauxPas75 |

OOC: There is plenty of room to fan out to the east, or head into the larger area to the west so that no one has to stand in front of the large face if that is what you would like to do.
IC: "Jade sword? I've seen the jade sword on the color changing man with the kobolds! I could tell you how to get to them?" the ghoulish woman tells to you upon hearing of the item your searhing for.

![]() |

"Might be some kind of illusionist working with the kobolds, but why hold onto the sword?" Elywn looks at the woman, thinking of the other Pathfinders that were chased off by the kobolds,"Have you seen anyone else around here recently, exploring, maybe searching for something, anyone like us? If so, what became of them?
Elwyn looks around to see whether there is much evidence of activity in the room, distubed dust or dirt.

![]() |

When/if everyone is in agreement to explore the lever below are my rolls, also, someone should ask the lady about it before we try just in case she know what it does. May be afk for a few hours.
Percetion - trapfinding 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
If necessary, Disable Device 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19

Despite the ghoul's apparent desire to assist them, Fedryn remains wary of her. The Eagle Knight's words echo in his mind. Regardless, it seems they have taken a step towards finding the sword.
As the others talk with the ghoul, Fedryn fixates his attention on the relief on the wall, wondering if he's seen anything similar before.
Knowledge (dungeoneering): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

FauxPas75 |

OOC: Ok, this is going to be disjointed, but here goes...
Rachel: "I've seen the kobolds wandering everywhere, but they tend to stay to the eastern side of the ruins." the Ghoul replies.
Elwyn: Seen anyone else lately: "Just the group I came here with....they were driven off after I was attacked...they...they left me for dead I fear..." you can easily see that this pains her to talk about, or she's a hell of an actor.
ALso, you don't see any traps on it, or anyway to disable the device if there was one. and finally, I get the impression that Jubei is out for the short term, might want to ask that question of someone else.
Fedryn: You've not seen this before, other than general decorations of course. The writing on the head probably gives a clue as to what it does, but since no one can read it...
Marisan: It does radiate magic, a faint aura.

Hannya is the only one that can detect evil - DM - can we assume that he would cast detect evil for us? If its not evil, then Rachel can cast mage hand and operate the lever while we al ready ourselves and get way back.

Marisan watches the cleaning mechanism with the expression of a child seeing a clockwork toy for the first time. When it stops, she catches herself and addresses the ghoul. "Yes, Maurit. Please take us where you saw the jade katana last."

FauxPas75 |

"You come, this way, this way...." Maurit says, her speech slipping back into the long drawn out hiss that it first was before she gives her head a violent shake and you see some of the light of humanity reappear in the dim corridor. Beckoning, she takes off to the east, quickly becoming lost in the pitch blackness of the cavern.

![]() |

Marisan peers into the darkness. "We're going to need some light. Does anyone have a free hand for a torch?"
Marisan will light and carry a torch if no one else volunteers. In this case she will carry the torch in her left hand and her trident in the right. Otherwise, if someone, she will hold her driftwood icon/holy symbol in her left.
She pauses a moment, then looks directly at the ghoul, adding, "Maurit, if we encounter other undead, you get as far away from me in the room as you can. Otherwise, you might get hurt."

![]() |

"She disappeared into the darkness of the cavern, even my eyes can't see that far. I'd rather not bear the torch, I'm counting on my quickness to be able to adapt to anything we encounter, best that someone near the back who can stand their ground and not be on the front lines carrys it."
Elwyn has his rapier drawn and readies himself for anything. He listens intently, seeing if he can make anything out ... how far she is, if hers are the only sounds in the cavern.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

FauxPas75 |

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 To stealth
After the shuffling slouch of her earlier movements that even the most city born could hear it is eerie how quiet the ruins now are, with the ghoul out of sight and sound.
Ooc: that crazy lady be gone! Or, at least not thinking that you can't seein the dark as well as she now can

![]() |

Marisan sighs. "OK, well, we should probably watch our backs." She positions herself in the middle of the group and starts moving down the corridor, senses and muscles straining as she goes.
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

![]() |

Zergo turned left into a side tunnel. I can see in the dark, so I will take the lead. Elwyn, please stay close behind in case we have...surprises.
Harboth hefts his greataxe and sets off slowly and carefully down the corridor.
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

![]() |

Elwyn and Hannya both have darkvision as well - not sure whether they can see in the total darkness or just low light, also, not sure what effect the other lights will have.

![]() |

No I don't, as an elf I only have lowlight vision
You are totally right, where did I come up with that? Somehow I was thinking darkvision for us ... ok you go first Harboth. Did research - light does not affect Darkvision so light 'em if you've got 'em.

FauxPas75 |

Attempting to be stealthy Harboth and Marisan edge toward the darkened doorway that Maurit turned into. Rounding the corner of the room the light of the glowing targe....errr, hawk...reveals the following:
Three rounded alcoves in this chamber contain the rotting remains of scroll shelves, honeycombing from floor to ceiling. Scattered amid the compromised shelving are damaged scrolls, and a number of still-sealed scroll tubes. A glimmering trickle of water seeps down from the ceiling in the northwest corner of the room.
The light shed by the hawk illuminates the entire room, as well as a doorway toward the east.

FauxPas75 |

OOC: Can I get a walking order from everyone? I assume its something along these lines:
Harboth (for this darkvision)
Jubei
Marisan
Rachel - Razor glowing away to give limited light to both ends of the party.
Elwyn
Fedryn (to cover the real flank)
No, are you strung out in 'fighting' order, or closer, like you were walking together? strung out would put you seperated by 30' from front to back (5' per person).

![]() |

That marching order is fine with me. I would guess we would be spacing ourselves out - what the GM called 'fighting' order - since we are expecting trouble at some point
Marisan's eyes survey the shelves full of scrolls in various states of decay. "It's a wonder that there is anything left unstolen or undamaged." Almost without thinking, she begins to reach for a sealed scroll tube, but then withdraws her hand slowly. "Elwyn, can you check to see whether it is safe to examine these more closely?"

![]() |

The order is fine with me, while not a combat specialist, Elwyn is capable, and I can help with the rear flank, my perception heping to avoid a ream surprise.
Elwyn carefully examines the shelves for any signs of traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
The mess of tattered parchment and tubes makes for a confusing array, he's just not sure.
So where did she go? She shuffled off pretty quickly, I hope she didn't alert anyone or anything else.
Elwyn looks up to be sure their is nothing about to get the drop on them.
