Here are some things I would like you to know:
HP > Max at level one. Roll for the others.
For each roll less than half of your hit dice, you may add 1 hit point to the roll.
Example:
8d8 + 8 ⇒ (2, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 1, 2) + 8 = 44
For the rolls: 2,1,2 can add one more hit point, meaning that in total, I would add 3 more hit points.
==//==
Skill rolls:
Disable device: It will be rolled in secret by the DM, I'll post only the results.
Perception: It will be divided in two categories; Passive and active.
Passive rolls: such as noticing things you enter in a tavern, or anything that you may see as you walk by will be done by the GM and added to the description. Mostly you don’t need to ask for a perception or roll one when you enter in some place, I’ll do it for you and tell you what you saw.
Active: You can actively be searching for something, such as a hidden door, or a trap. In those cases, you can roll it by yourself.
Bluff/Diplomacy/Intimidate: I give bonus to those tests according to your role play. If you use a convincing lie or speech, I’ll give your test a bonus.
I do not, however assign penalty for reverse reasons.
Rule discussion: If you see a clearly error on my part, please quote it in discussion and tell me about it. I’ll do my best to correct the situation.
If you don’t understand how the enemy did something, I’ll ask you to not stop the scene to ask about the rule, but wait until the scene is over to discuss it.
Redo Actions: For good or worse, I usually don’t redo actions. Save for some extreme motives.
Narrative/Descriptive Combat: If you want to do something but you are not sure how to do it. State your intentions and I’ll help you achieve what you wanted. In am in favor of exiting visual looking combat, or movie-like scene and I don’t mind bending the game mechanics to help you achieve it, within some limits.
Any doubt, please feel free to ask.

Damn auto correct and writing without re-reading it!

Put the crunch and fluff in the profile.
If I can make a suggestion: Keeping watch of the OOC thread is a pain, until we can post in the IC thread. Then we can see the campaign in our list of campaigns. If you can put up the IC thread soonish, that would be great.
By the way, if you dot, then delete the post, it appears in your campaign, without cluttering the thread :)

Thanks for choosing me DM Aku! I am really looking forward to playing this game.
8d10 + 16 ⇒ (4, 2, 8, 6, 4, 8, 10, 8) + 16 = 66+3 = 69
Gargamal |
oops one of those should have been a d6....will re-roll the first dice and replace it with whatever I roll here...sorry about that.
1d6 ⇒ 4
Ok..no big difference...so Hp will be: 4,3,8,6,5,8,10,8+16(con bonus)+12(1st level hp) for a total of 80hp....not too bad!
Eamch Stone |
Thanks for accepting me for this one!
Hit points 8d8 + 8 + 18 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 2, 5, 5, 7, 4) + 8 + 18 = 60. So +3 for the lows (1,2 and 4), would make it 63. Adding in favored class bonus to hit points will make it 72 total.

Eamch: not a problem...and he probably did smell like an elk...which is a very musky beast!! No harm, no foul...lol but thanks anyway!!!

Hope you guys don't mind if I lurk -- I'm trying to get a feel for PBP -- just started playing in my first -- and I'd love to read this campaign.
Hello WE Ray.
I don't mind lurking.
If you feel you can cope with my requirements in the recruitment thread, feel free to create a character and join us as player.
But if you decided to play with us, it would be good if you can make a class that will fill any un-used spot in our current one.

Sorry I'm late.
I'll go ahead and roll my hit points now.
Hp-ranger: 4d10 + 8 + 2 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 3) + 8 + 2 + 4 + 4 = 27
Hp-bard: 4d8 + 8 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7, 1, 6, 1) + 8 + 2 + 2 = 27
Total 64
A bit below average. If I did it right.

Also, I would like each of you set a status bar as this one character.
Current HP is not mandatory, I'll take care of keeping tabs of it, just the total.
Skills: Bluff, Perception, Sense Motive and Stealth are mandatory, other than that, you can put anything you feel it will be useful for you character, for quick reference.

Thanks for the offer, DM Aku, unfortunately I've DMed Homebrew amalgams of Expedition to the Demonweb Pits twice over the years -- once combined with City of the Spider Queen and again with Umbra and bits of The Istivin Trilogy.
Also, I have to be wary of my gaming time -- DMing two live games, playing in two, and now playing in my first PBP. I just want to read a few other PBP campaigns to broaden my PBP experience. All that plus my career, you know.

Haha!
I've tried this campaign once. It was our first step into D&D several years ago.
The campaign ended because we messed with the wrong NPC, and the GM was really pissed.
Based on the party setup, the DM put a challenge that we had almost no chance of winning, and fleeing would mean to leave some party members behind.
Yeah, it was bad DMing and player cooperation, but it was fun while it lasted. :D

Feel free to ‘dot’ in the gameplay tab. That will make the game be added to your current active games, and make it real easy to accompany using the following link: http://paizo.com/people/Molech/campaigns

DM, the figure at the top of the steep slope... How hard is he to get to? Is it multiple moves per hex? Is it something that Eamch may be able to jump to the top of?
It counts as difficult terrain. Can't charge and it cost 2 squares of movement to climb.
DM Aku |
Switch hands on bow, draw sword as a free action. 5' step, attack.
The result will be the same, but for clarification, you can't draw a weapon as part of movement using a 5ft step, only as part of a normal movement.
In that case, it went this way: Free to pass bow to the other hand, move do draw the sword, 5ft, and then attack.

In a game I am still in, I have a character who, in the last 15 rolls has not got over a 10...most were between 2 and 7...it was insane...could not hit, and failed every save....only now slowly coming out of that slump...lol

Seems like we might be doing a forced march at this point. I don't favor this, I don't feel it a necessity.
I think it's better, on situations like this, raise those concerns in gameplay, your char speaking it up, instead of an OOC commentary. Since that's basically what you character is thinking: I don't want to continue marching this night.
It's better because it gives the other players, chance to interact with you, and the game gets more realistic and interesting.

Except it was more a question directed at you, the DM. Would tracking on into the night be a forced march? Without knowing this for sure, I can't really have an IC discussion about it.

Did we get a chance to look at the priestess' diary?"
Lithara, the drow priestess also kept a detailed journal. She writes little about herself and her activities; her writings chronicle larger, broader topics. She details the worship of Lolth, the religion, rites, and services. Her entries also reveal a wealth of information about the political and social life of drow among the upper classes.
Most of the personal information about Lithara and her life appear as margin notes among drawings and doodles. In the last entry, she has made the following notes in the margin: Rule-of-Three of Sigil intrigues me as few others have. As he would say: a riddle, an enigma, a puzzle. Regardless of his ultimate loyalty (impossible to determine), he would make a fine sacrifice to honor the Spider Queen.Using the Diary, gives you +2 bonus on subject related to drows. Other than that, there's nothing much to say about it.

Hey guys, Happy New Year's!
I've been lurking in this (really cool) PbP since the beginning of December, trying to learn more about how PbP works and I have a quick question...
In a published campaign how do you handle Player knowledge of the adventure? Like, if anyone's familiar with "Sigil" or "Rule of Three" or "The Oarsman" -- how do you deal with that in a PbP where you don't have the benefit of sitting across the table from the other Players in someone's living room?
Is it a problem?

My character(s) (almost)always passes any information that he has along either directly role playing it, or describing the telling, in the character's actions.
This would be for information gained by successful knowledge rolls. As for player knowledge, I avoid it. Rise of the Runelords, for instance. I own/have read it, so I don't try to get in to those games. Even though I kind of want to, some times.
Of course for this one, I may have some idea of the overarching plot. I own the 1st edition of Queen of the Demonweb Pits. So far it's has played completely differently though.
The items: Sigil, Rule of Three, and The Oarsman are unfamiliar to me. 'The Oarsman' makes me think of something from ancient Greek mythology.

From the player's perspective:
I had the module some years ago, and read some parts of it. I make an effort to think about what my character would think about things I know are important. In the case of the document produced, I looked at it, and thought that the only thing that would stand out to a soldier-cleric of Torm would be those weird words. She would draw attention to them, but would not be able to say anything more.
I also keep in mind that the DM can always change things (which I like)...
