I'll just go with the 1.5 version above, so we can get on with the game.

I don't think the choice of classes is the problem. It's splitting levels evenly that hurts power levels. Multi-classing in Pathfinder works best if you just do a 1 level dip. Usually to get more class skills or an improved saving throw. IMO of course. :)

I'll go with the updated version of Eamch too. There are some small bumps up, but actually remembering to use his ability that gives him a good chance at a +2 to hit and bypassing all DRs will be important. :P

@Karla

Humm

Sorry, that sounded a lot like a bad/lazy description.

I'll add more later. I'm off to bed now.

No worries. Morning here.
Good night!

Asking which Inns are good, though. Decent = OK.

@All

Talking about buying and selling:
You sell for half of the prince, buy for normal price.
I'm not using diplo to change those values.

Goods available:
Anything, for any source, up to 200k gold.

By default, you cannot take a 20 on knowledge test.

This is something Lore master or Archaeologist luck allows?

Bard's Lore Master:

Lore Master (Ex)

At 5th level, the bard becomes a master of lore and can take 10 on any Knowledge skill check that he has ranks in. A bard can choose not to take 10 and can instead roll normally. In addition, once per day, the bard can take 20 on any Knowledge skill check as a standard action. He can use this ability one additional time per day for every six levels he possesses beyond 5th, to a maximum of three times per day at 17th level.

I agree with your starred items. Karla could also use the ring of protection +1.

I agree with keeping potions and wands. Of the other items, the stat boosters duplicate the effects of items Eamch already has.

Gargamal want nothing from this list, but I am interested in that mithral shirt...we should try to find out more about it, I think.

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

@Gargamal, editted to add some more information.

Male Half-Elf Arcane Archer 3/Ranger 6/Sorcerer 1 / HP 87/87 |AC:22 | T:14 | FF:18 | CMB +12 | CMD:26 | Fort:+11 | Ref:+13 | Will:+6 | Init:+8 | Bluff:+1 | Perception: +23 | Sense Motive: + 0 | Stealth: +19 |

I would love to get 'Holy' added to my bow, but I think that would cost 32,000gp to accomplish.

And it would take 32 days for someone to add it. It may be better to get some +1 holy arrows. The +1 bonus wouldn't stack with your bow's bonus, but the holy would stack.

Liberty's Edge

Male Historian/Curator

Could you get just holy arrows, with no bonus? Or does it have to at least have a +1? Yeah, a few dozen of those would go a long way...

It has to have the +1, but that +1 would not stack with the bonus from the bow. So you would use the +2 from your bow (since it is the higher of the two), and then you'd get the holy benefit from the arrow. It would be 8,301 for 50 arrows (8,000 enchanting, 300 masterwork, 1 for 20 arrows). Or 166 gp and 2 sp for each arrow. Some bane arrows may be handy as well.

I was thinking Taurven could use the gloves of dex but they are (apparently) non standard items. I got stuck trying to work them into Hero-lab. Also means I don't know what the cost is for them.

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

Taurven, you can use whatever description for the items in pathfinder.

They were a bit different in 3.5. which is the same as this adventure. I may have forgotten to change the item to pathfinder standard.

Male Half-elf | Hp 10 | AC 16 T13 F13 | Init +3 | Per +9 (low-light Vision) | Fort +1 | Ref +5 | Will +2 |

Not complaining, just explaining. I meant to total up the values and all that, but didn't get it done.

Well lets see how much money we have, and any requests from the other party members...arrows would be great for me!! And maybe better protection..

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

Taruven, I didn't as a complaint.

The gloves are the same price as this: Belt.

The only difference, is the body slot. In the gloves case, hands.

Male Half-elf | Hp 10 | AC 16 T13 F13 | Init +3 | Per +9 (low-light Vision) | Fort +1 | Ref +5 | Will +2 |

Totaled up all the stuff (that we are selling) = 34,781.

Sold for half = 17,390.5

Divided by four = 4,347.62

Taurven sold to himself (at half price) one of the gloves of Dex +2. Leaves him with 2347.62.

If Karla wants the +1 ring of protection she needs to subtract 1,000 gp from her share.

The special arrows, the normal arrows, the riding lizards, and the healing items were not sold. Also forgot to add the 30 gp and 20 sp. We can divide that easily enough...

Male Half-elf | Hp 10 | AC 16 T13 F13 | Init +3 | Per +9 (low-light Vision) | Fort +1 | Ref +5 | Will +2 |

Also not included was the mithral chainshirt. It still needs identified.

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

SPIDERSILK
Spidersilk is a mithral shirt of exceptionally fine texture and quality. Black threads of spider silk appear to have been woven in among the metal rings.

HISTORY
Spidersilk was originally the armor of the legendary drow wizard Valenet. About four hundred years ago, he received it as a gift from Dierdra, his house matriarch, for slaying a mind flayer that had held her in thrall. The matriarch lavished training and resources upon the young male drow, educating him in the care and riding of spiders as well as the wizardly arts.

K:History DC 15:

Three rituals are required to unlock all the abilities of Spidersilk.
Knowledge of the Spider: You must acquire 2 ranks (or 2 additional ranks) in the Knowledge (nature) skill. These ranks can be taken at any rate you choose, as long as you have them all by 8th level. Cost: 1,500 gp; Feat Granted: Least Legacy (Spidersilk).

No other male was as pampered or as powerful as the matriarch’s young savior, and Valenet enjoyed his privileged status. But among the drow, jealously is easily aroused and quickly manifests in violence. After another drow nearly killed Valenet in a duel, Dierdra forbade anyone to challenge him. Valenet subsequently survived several assassination attempts, thanks largely to Spidersilk. Eventually, however, he died from drinking a cup of wine poisoned with spider venom. Dierdra buried Valenet dressed in this armor.

K:History DC 20:

Test of the Fang: You must be bitten by a spider of at least Large size and survive the poison without recourse to magical assistance. Thus, a slow poison or neutralize poison spell would negate the test, but a nonmagical resource, such as a vial of antitoxin, is acceptable. Cost: 13,000 gp; Feat Granted: Lesser Legacy (Spidersilk).

The odds that the grave of one so envied and hated by other drow would lie undisturbed were slenderer than the fi nest spider silk. In fact, grave robbers opened Valenet’s tomb and made off with Spidersilk mere hours after the stonemasons had sealed it. Many unverified accounts of the armor indicate a profusion of owners during the next three hundred years. Legend holds that it was worn by surface dwellers such as Yew, a cleric of Obad-Hai, who was credited with ridding the Yellow Wood of spiders. Occasionally, however, it was brought back to the Underdark and sold back to the drow as finely crafted armor. Most who wore the armor remained ignorant of its true capabilities.

K:History DC 25:

The Still and Patient Spider: You must spend one day per character level in meditation with Spidersilk. At least 8 hours of each day must be spent meditating, and you cannot engage in any strenuous activity or spellcasting during this period. Cost: 40,000 gp; Feat Granted: Greater Legacy (Spidersilk).

WIELDER REQUIREMENTS:

The optimal user of Spidersilk is an elf wizard, although any arcane spellcaster might use it. Many wizards and sorcerers would enjoy the opportunity to wear armor without the usual detriment to their spellcasting abilities. Bards, multiclass rogues, and other lightly armored spellcasters or sorcerers might also embrace Spidersilk as an opportunity to expand their repertoire of abilities.
Spidersilk Wielder Requirements
Base Will save +5.
Ability to cast arcane spells.

LEGACY ITEM ABILITIES:

All the following are legacy item abilities of Spidersilk.
False Life (Sp): Beginning at 5th level, you can use false life as the spell once per day with a command word.
Reduced Spell Failure (Su) : When you reach 6th level, Spidersilk’s chance of arcane spell failure is reduced by 5% (to a minimum of 5%).
Spider friend (Su) : At 7th level, you gain protection from spiders. While wearing Spidersilk, you are continually under the effect of a sanctuary spell that affects only spiders and spiderkind creatures.
Summon Lesser Spiders (Sp) [b]: Beginning at 8th level, you can summon either 1d3 Small monstrous spiders or 1 Medium monstrous spider once per day with a command word and a gesture. This ability is the equivalent of a 2nd-level spell.
[b]Web (Sp)
: Starting at 10th level, you can use web as the spell three times per day with a command word. The save DC is 13 or 12 + your Cha modifier, whichever is higher.
Summon Spider Swarm (Sp) : When you attain 11th level, you can use summon swarm, as the spell, to summon a swarm of spiders five times per day by speaking a command word.
Spider Climb (Su) [b]: Beginning at 12th level, you can walk on walls and ceilings as if affected by the spider climb spell while wearing Spidersilk.
[b]No Spell Failure (Su)
: When you attain 13th level, Spidersilk’s chance of arcane spell failure is reduced by 5% (to a minimum of 0%).
Maximize Spell, Lesser (Su) : Beginning at 15th level, you can cast up to three spells per day of up to 3rd level that are maximized as though affected by the Maximize Spell feat. Using this legacy ability does not change the spell slots of the altered spells. However, a spontaneous spellcaster (such as a sorcerer) still needs a full-round action to augment a spell with this ability, just as he would to do so with the metamagic feat.
Spell Storing, Minor (Su) : Starting at 16th level, you can store up to three levels of spells in Spidersilk as though it were a ring of minor spell storing.
Summon Greater Spiders (Sp) : Once per day at 17th level, you can summon either 1d4+1 Large monstrous spiders or 1 Huge monstrous spider with a command word and a gesture. This ability is the equivalent of a 2nd-level spell.
Command Spiders (Sp) : Beginning at 19th level, you can command up to 40 HD of spiders (no two of which can be more than 30 feet apart) three times per day with a command word and gesture. Each spider gets a Will save (DC 15 + your Intmodifier) to negate the effect.
Affected spider creatures can understand you, and they perceive your words and actions in the most favorable way. (Treat their attitude as friendly.) This effect lasts for one day, and the affected spiders do not attack you during this time.
You can try to give an affected spider orders, but you must win an opposed Charisma check to convince it to do anything it wouldn’t ordinarily do. (Retries are not allowed.) A commanded spider never obeys suicidal or obviously harmful orders, but it might be convinced that some-thing dangerous is worth doing (see charm person).
You can affect spiders of the vermin type and spiders that were originally vermin before the addition of a template—for example, fiendish spiders, or a spider that has been corrupted by the Abyss.
Maximize Spell (Su) : At 20th level, you can cast up to three spells per day of up to 6th level that are maximized as though affected by the Maximize Spell feat. Using this legacy ability does not change the spell slots of the altered spells. However, a spontaneous spellcaster (such as a sorcerer) still needs a full-round action to augment a spell with this ability, just as he would to do so with the metamagic feat.

Here a summary of what you gain and loss with the amor, and how it looks like.
Spidersilk

*Whistles!* That's a powerful item!!

@Taurven: I'll take the ring. Someone can have the rest of my share to get something nicer if needed.

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

@All

So, what are you all doing?

Also, I'm planning some more legacy items. My aim is to have one for each character, if Taurven do not take the Spidersilk, I'll think about another for him.

Please note I'll be away from Friday to Sunday, then from Wednesday to Monday again. I'll try to post, but it might not be possible. Please bot me as needed.

So we each have 4347 gp to spend...is that correct? I will probably use mine on arrows....I need to check cost and such first...I have an idea..lol

I have 3,347 GP to share, should someone wants it for something bigger.

What I would like to see is if I can get an arrow or two that do not break, will return once fired, and either have bane or are holy, or maybe one of each!! Trying to find a way (and cost) for such an item...

I'm interested in the armor. I was going to defer to group judgement on it though. If we pawn it, we might be able to afford to upgrade Gargamal's bow.

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

There's a bow, called Thaas...

Oooooo! Sounds interesting. Do we have to find it or is it available now?

I think for Eamch, I'll pick up a bead of force and a bead of newt prevention. That is 4,000 gp. He'll keep the rest of his share.

Hey gang!

I know that none of you need it, but here is something really cool and interesting to read! Give it some attention, I know you’ll find it interesting too!

Welcome back.

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

@Taurven.

Just checking:

You are assuming on your own that Rule-Of-Three is the one behind all this, since the priestess diary just said that the Gith intrigued her, not that he was her contact.

Not saying he isn't either. :)

Male Half-elf | Hp 10 | AC 16 T13 F13 | Init +3 | Per +9 (low-light Vision) | Fort +1 | Ref +5 | Will +2 |

I assumed that he is an information broker, who helped the drow.

Edit: I think it was that hand-out. I thought it said something about presenting the letter to him. I'll find the link and double check.

In retrospect, I really should have explained that asking about his name was meant as small talk. A way to draw him out in friendly conversation. Maybe he would have been less rude, then Taurven would have been less rude, and it would have been a more pleasant encounter.

In a way, he answered your question:

DM Aku wrote:
”The meaning, significance, the reason for my name?”

Look back at this dialog. Whenever saying something, he always did it in three parts, and when requesting something else, the also requested three things.

Thus, Rule-of-Three.

Only he didn’t say it openly. :)
