Jonah moves forward into the opening left by the warforged's retreat, and lashing out at the warforged but missing his intended target.

The warforged responds by returning a strike at Jonah, but likewise misses.

In response to Garotte's warning, Vannevar says, "Then I shall end him quickly." Vannevar steps into the area opened up by Silian and swings his sword at the shifter.

Tava moves into a flanking position, drawing an attack from the warforged before returning strike, unfortunately, they both somehow miss.

Once Tava has moved on, the shifter she was standing over, thought to be dead ends his shifting and stands up provoking AoO and draws a dagger.

Tava's brute force proves to be too much for the warforged, the lights begin to fade from his eyes and he falls with a loud clang to the sewer floor. A moment later, a small, clockwork device detaches itself from the warforged's chest and on small filigree wings flies swiftly away.

The remaining shifter, suddenly acutely aware of the situation he has found himself in, attempts to flee.

Jonah sheathes his blade, and goes back to pick up his spear.

Silian unfastens his armor to show a few bruises and a gash from the dagger. "A little... um... is nobody going to address the mechanical spy that just got away?" Silian levels his scimitar at Garotte. "What do you know of it, Tin Soldier? What was that, and was this," he kicks the heap of the fallen 'forged, "another of your siblings?"

Vannevar, having seen enough of the shifters ability to heal - and play dead, delivers a final decisive blow to each of their corpses before turning to watch Garotte interested in what he has to say as well.

"Don't have any ranged spells prepped today." Akasha says watching the clockwork construct disappear in the distance. "Garrotte, report."

Garotte turns towards the human. "Captain- Damage minimal. Functionality unhindered. Flying object is a tool of mechanical automated reconnaissance."

"Meaning that someone right now is getting a report that we're down here. Looks like we've got competition." Akasha ponders.

Well, I guess that means that we will have to get going. Do you happen to know where from here?

Silian gives a mock sigh, "In my day you actually had to spy on someone yourself." Silian nudges the fallen 'forged with his boot. "Well I suppose you get what you pay for. Shall we?"

Chuckling quietly Akasha moves forward. "Yes,it would be better if we've moved on by the time that report is received."

Silian kneels for a moment, and attempts to look over the corpses while trying to stay as dry as possible and avoiding sifting through too much of Sharn's Yesterday Gossip.

Silian pockets a few coins from the dead shifters, and then opens the backpack strapped to the warforged. "They did not have much, but take what we can use rather than having to buy it back from Skakan later. There are some bolts and some lockpicks that may come in handy."

Nodding Akasha takes the crossbow case and adds it to her gear. "All right boys, ready to move?"

Making your way deeper into the tunnels of the sewers you come to a circular metal hatch, set into the wall and engraved with arcane runes. You believe that this must be the door that Elaydren told you about. In the middle of the hatch, a glowing circle of mithral depicts the same icon as on Bonal's journal - the ancient symbol of House Cannith that predates the founding of the Kingdom of Galifar itself, a stylized anvil and hammer.

With a whispered phrase, Akasha shifts her eyes into the arcane spectrum, studying the hatch in depth.

Adjusting the shutters on his bullseye lantern, Jonah finds something to set his lantern down on while he waits for the others to figure out the door.

Turning the lantern, so it just illuminates the wall beside us, and we can use the reflected light to see. IE dim light, if there was none before.

Silian fishes out the journal from his pack to compare the sigils. "Well obviously the door is enscorcelled. M'lady, can you surmise anything?"

I need two rolls, one per spell, counting the book and door as one but there is a second spell in place on the door. Will also need you to specify which roll is for which spell.

First was the door spell. This one's for the Door/Book

"The book will work as a key when placed against the lock. There's another spell there that I can't quite figue out, so hopefully it isn't trapped." Akasha answers after studying the sigils for a while.

Silian nods, and tosses the book to Vannevar. "I see. One moment." Silian trudges off through the water back to where the ambush was. If Silian gets interrupted just let me know and I will retcon.

The elf returns a few moments later, holding his bloody scimitar in one hand and the severed arm of the bat-shifter in the other. He gives Akasha a courtesy "Watch out!" warning before lobbing the arm at the door.

As the arm connects with the door, there is a flash and acid is thrown outwards from the door in an arc. That was just too perfect for me to even punish anyone with damage.

With a look of distaste, Vannevar silently hands the book back to Silian.
