Mar grew up on the small island the elves were now confined to. Years of listening to the older elves go on about how things used to be different drove him crazy. They told stories of the old forests, the cool, dark and moist woods, teeming with life. It was almost too much to bear. Since he can remember, Mar has been studying and devoting himself to those long forgotten forests. But his true calling did not come until later.
Wandering the small island, he sat to think under a rock outcropping, finding what little shade was available. Eyes closed, he did not perceive the leopard until it was right on top of him. He opened his eyes, staring into dark green, oval eyes. The black leopard just sat there, and instantly Mar felt a connection. Offering the animal some of his food, he walked over and sat next to it. Ingwe, the name popped into his head. Conspicuous, it immediately drew attention as the pair walked into the village later that day. The elder elves understood what happened, albeit confused as to how a leopard came to live on their small island. Together, Mar and Ingwe long for the lost continent, and the chance to fight for the queen and regain their lost territory calls to them.
