Baldwin of St. Cuthbert |

No sign of Morley?
With the gnolls currently tied up, Baldwin shifts his attention to the kobolds. He brings a heavy blow down on one of the reptilian creatures.
heavy mace: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
crit confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Lia Nightbreeze |

Round 2: Actions
Standard Action: Cast evil eye hex on other gnoll, affecting attack rolls
Lia's glare falls on the other gnoll, subtly calling on fate itself to weigh its weapon down.
DC 15 Will Save or -2 penalty on attack rolls for 7 rounds. Penalty for only 1 round on a successful save.

"Baldwin, ye scallywag! Don't they teach ye to use nonlethal force in yer priest schoolw?" exclaims the dragonborn as the inquisitor bludgeons a little fella to death.
Turning to the gnoll he attacked with his tail moments before he roars, bearing his fangs to show.
With a flourish, Zahk aims the edge of his sabre at the hyena's throat while his tail flies towards the creature's flank.
If I've misread anything and said gnoll is dead, Zahk movea and stabs the other gnoll
Scimitar Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Tail Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Looks like I'm about to drop my tail, Brienna style

No, you don't do that. You hit someone else with friendly fire. Most likely Morley. Make an attack roll. Oh, you kill the gnoll as well.

![]() |

Friendly Fire isn't that friendly: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Friendly Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
If I am to apply multiattack penalties to the fumble attack, downgrade the to hit by 5 and damage by 2

Did the kobold I tried to trip make his save? GM, can we have some narration in order to gain a sense of where we are, and what our quarry is doing, please.
Yes.
The kobold did avoid your trip (AC 14 vs. Trip attack of 12.) by deftly moving out of the way. Malayvin Ai Illiurda managed to stick him in the gut with her rapier. This caused the kobolds to fall back and run. Meanwhile, Morley got hit with Zahk'rii Kreinkun's tail as he tried to tail a kobold. Briena tried to bean one on the head when she dropped her club, coming to Lia's charms, which didn't seem to work.
That leave's Sinch and his move. (Exposition okay?)

GM, attack of opportunity on the kobold then for running?

Sinch |

AoO from earlier in the round: Sinch lashes at the fleeing kobold with the spiked chain closest to him > Attack: Piercing: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 172d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 3) + 3 = 10
- or -

EltonJ |

the Kobold is dead from the AoO. That's probably the wierdest mechanic in the whole game. I think any one playing a paladin will not take advantage of it and still be a paladin. But the dynamics of battle is usually chaotic, so who am I to judge?
Sinch managed to move up to the gnoll and tripped him, after attacking a kobold and killing him. One kobold left.
The gnolls are free from the entanglement and the second gnoll tries to brain Sinch.
Gnoll attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

EltonJ |

Looks like we're back to the top of the order with Malayvin?
Correct.
Initiative order:Malayvin Ai Illiurda (22)
Morley Hastings (19)
Baldwin of St. Cuthbert (14)
Lia Nightbreeze (13)
Briena (12)
Kobolds (9)
Zahk'rii Kreinkun (8)
Sinch (6)
Gnolls (5)

Malayvin Ai Illiurda |

The kobolds running she spun and looked for the remaining gnoll(s)
If she could move into a flanking position or near flank she would do so and stab with her rapier, if not the would get close and throw a dagger at it.
flanking sneak attack: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 = 10
damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
sneak attack: 1d6 ⇒ 1
dagger: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Please note i just made the one attack roll, subract the two if not flanking

Baldwin of St. Cuthbert |

Recognizing the sensibility of Malayvin's move, Baldwin also moves into an advantageous position (if possible) against one of the gnolls and lashes out with his mace.
"I can strike to administer a proper chastisement, Zahk, but there is a time and place for that. And this is not it."
mace: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 19 if he manages to get into a flank position
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

"Wait a moment, ye land dogs." says the dragonborn with a threathening, full of fangs, smile "That was the deal I offered t'ye before ye decided ye were too tough to sign a truce. But now we know ye scallywags aren't all that tough, don't we?"
Zahk walks closer as he caresses the tip of his cutlass "Ye'll walk away with yer lives, sure, but we'll get the cows... and any treasure ye cowards... Afterall we have the right to plunder hahahahaha!"
The dragonborn sheathes his sword and extends a hand to the closest gnoll "We got a deal... or ye want to resume the fight, this times with no punches pulled?"
I'm unsure if I need to roll Intimidate. If necessary and if you want to roll it for me, I got +9. Just to speed things up, I mean

![]() |

Let's try to push things even more forward
In a completely unpiratey way, Zahk didn't instantly grabbed the spellbook and threathened any scallywag to fight him for it... instead the dragonborn took it and turned to the others "This here book can get us a handsome sum, me hearties! Hahahaha! But we need t'get them cows back to their owners before. Any of ye know how t'herd them?"

Malayvin Ai Illiurda |

She absolutely had no clue how to herd cows, none. But the battle died down she couldnt help but smirk just a moment.
"Well i dont have the size for it Zak'rii but in my travels on the land i've seen farmers out amongst them. They usually ride atop horses to seem larger, but you and Sinch seem big enough fellows Here is what you do?
She moved closer to Lia and sort of half raised her arms up fingers wiggling while she put on a 'fearsome' face.
"Lia here is the cow right, you approach mostly from behind all large and you just make like a loud moo sound to sort of to get the heard animal to understand your one of them but in charge and you advance on them."
bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
She began sounding like she sort of knew what she was talking about at least.
Unless of course you beat a DC17 sense motive check, then its probably clear she hasnt a clue really about anything involving cows.

Another option, to speed things up if nobody has Handle Animal, would be to split. Zahk and another can remain with the herd and the other two go fetch the farmers and bring them here. But Sinch does have +5 on the skill -sorry for peeking at your sheet, I'm a mischievous dragon-

No worries. I mostly post from my phone, and I haven't had much time to spend as of late. Thanks for the shout out, scaleskin.

Baldwin of St. Cuthbert |

"Better you leading them than me, Sinch. I left the farm years ago and have no interest in revisiting those days."
Not particularly trusting the kobolds and gnolls to give up this wealth in beef too easily, Baldwin keeps to the rear of the group (albeit a bit to the side to avoid the inevitable deposits the cows will leave behind). He watches for any sign of pursuit or either group following the herd back to the farmers.

Lia Nightbreeze |

Lia is her usual quiet & pensive self walking back, spending more time staring at her reflection in her scimitar than keeping an eye out on the road.
She does give the cows a couple of pats as they move. Strange, but rather adorable creatures, in a way. Akbar knows there weren't any in the Sultanate that I saw...

Sinch |

Sinch continues to wrangle the herd toward the farm.
I think once we get this livestock back to their masters and gain our reward, we should come back and talk some sense into the kobolds' chieftain. Gnolls too if they are heavily involved, as I don't think if we don't resolve the problem, there will be nothing to stop the kobold/gnoll confederacy from stealing the herd back. What say you?
Sinch looks around to his companions, though a few he may have to peer over a heifer here or there to see.

EltonJ |

You have reached the cave mouth and can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Some of the kobolds in the warrens behind you are hooting and hollering in order to make you all panic. (I need a will save. Failure means that you are shaken).
It's a bright day outside, one that is turning to dusk. Soon, you will have to move the herd through the night if you don't hurry.
