"Crazy Eddie" |
I found this awesome little page Everyday Technology. I'm going to guess, a minor scrounge test will get me the following:
Ecto
Micrograv Shoes

Sorry for the break of updates. Might be a bit off-and-on given work and such.
Aleksander jacks in to the connection port into the terminal that Hans is on. When you look out as your digital self, you are somewhat horrified to find What has to be Hans, but him as if he had been through a grinder or sorts. His digital body has limbs and ptaches of his body missing, and the look he is wearing is one of paranoia and anxiety.
He's muttering to himself.
"Where is that blasted server....can't find it. c-can't find it..."
Pivo is hard at work, trying to cut the piece of metal loose from the door so they can pressurize normally in the machine shop. It'll take quite some time.
In the crew quarters, you don't find much. It seems anything out was vented through the machine shop long ago before you all awoke from backups. Its much the same story with the rec center.
Crazy Eddie Luck: 40: 1d100 ⇒ 23
Fortunately, Crazy Eddie finds the above supplies snagged on pieces of machinery or corners, preventing them from being thrown out the airlock. But that's pretty much it for every room you have access to.
55 minutes have passed (Pivo needs around 45 more minutes before he's done)

Hans seems to finally notice Aleksander's presence, and turns to face him in the digital space. He's straining as if trying ot remember, and you can tell that part of hi head that is missing, there are fraying digital neurons that are trying to make a connection that isn't there.
"HKQ01 is cr-critical. HKQ01 m-m-missing. Mu-must protect. Threat!?"
THe digital Hans throws up his hands at Aleksander, his data body turning red, and the paranoia, fear, and his completely unstable mindset showing through.
Jonas, are you locking the internal airlock or the external airlock of the powerplant?
Catarina looks around, and realizes that as all the modules are detachable, simply getting rid of the power plant is an option. Also blowing it up would probably deal a lot of damage.

Jonas looks around and figures that the Istari would dock at the machine shop or the Powerplant. The powerplant is running most of the equipment still functioning, and the machine shop is currently locked open, though Pivo is trying to remedy that.
Aleksander wants to try and put Hans back together, but seeing the state he's in now, he realizes (and I'm giving you this as your character would know) that Hans is much to fargone in his current state. He has quite literally deleted sections of himself for some reason, and cannot be repaired from this.
You do realize, that the server Hans is talking about (HKQ01) is on another computer in the Ops Center. If its disconnected from Hans, maybe he did it for some reason, and just can't remember..."[/b]
Anyone got questions?
70 minutes have passed, Pivo has 30 left to go
DM Default |
Currenlty the mesh is down, so no. However, you aren't on a long station so talking loudly would work.
DM Default |
For simplicity sake, let's assume the environment suits all (I'm assuming) you are wearing have independent com systems, allowing you to communicate. These exist on basic wireless frequencies, too simple for an aural virus to travel through, but developed enough to tell who's talking.
You could signal with station lights, though the other side would have to understand what you were doing.
You guys wanna just jump to when Pivo is done?
Aleksander finds the server that Hans is raving about. It has been isolated but examining the files, it seems to be uncompromised. It does have a heavily encrypted password.
[ooc]Alek, give me a INTx3 test
Jonas Vikstrom |
We can jump ahead until Pivo is done. I'm not seeing a ton of things to do on the station at the moment, beyond what Aleksander is up to now that we've secured the airlocks.
Jonas attempts to signal the Istari to stay away using the station's lights.
Protocol, maybe?: 1d100 ⇒ 66
That is a crit failure! Hooray!

Aleksander, from your infosec test you realize it would take over a week of brute force hacking to be able to bypass the security system put in place on one of the main computer terminals. The Quantum computer nearby would help tremendously, but the time frame wouldn't change. However, from your Intx3 test you remember an old in-joke passphrase that everyone used to pass around. You wonder....
A few minutes later you have gained access.
What you find are records of some of Han's personal memories. While most of it is private stuff, you do find logs of the day you all set off two weeks ago. You find record of Hans informing you of the Istari, and how the two octomorphs that usually pilot the thing are unusually silent. He bids you good luck and the last log is a message that Han's receives from the Istari two weeks later. The history stops after that.
Jonas tries switching the lights on and off to signal, but accidently locks them permanently into "on" which cannot be undone without Han's master override.
Pivo eventually finishes the door and manages to close it, allowing hte slow moving life support system to slowly fill the atmosphere.
1 hour and 40 minutes passed
Just a quick role-call of where everyone is? and if you'd like to try something.
Jonas Vikstrom |
Jonas curses in Swedish as he locks the lights on.
Assuming I'm in the Ops Center.
"I'm not sure what else we can do... somehow the Kepler's been compromised and the Istari is the likeliest culprit. Let's see if we can get a barricade together at the airlocks, maybe."
Pivo, Mercurial Scavenger |
not sure if appropriate, but if "Salvage Ops" isn't the right skill, you can just treat the roll as whatever skill would be appropriate.
salvage ops: 65: 1d100 ⇒ 44
"Alright, I'll take a second look. Others should do the same, barring any ideas about how to deal with the Istari."
Pivo will move around as best he can, searching for anything of value that can be carried.
DM Default |
Aleksander looks to find the logs from two weeks ago, but only finds Hans has logged the event as a distress beacon getting picked up.
Jonas, go for it if you can explain what you want to try. I enjoy creativity if it makes sense.
Pivo scuttles around looking for anything else that might prove useful he searches thoroughly until he eventually reaches the machine shop. With the threat of being vented out of space and the atmosphere now stabilized, Pivo starts going through different lockers. He move from one to one, checking to-
He opens the third locker to find a robot nestled inside. The robot is obviously one of the servitor bots that are fairly common, and used to do menial tasks such as cleaning, cooking, etc. It'd be fair to say they're a household item/service.
Except for the fact that this "household item" begins to scream at you. A pitch that Aleksander would recognize instantly.
Pivo you're getting hit with an Aural Hack, roll COG+INT+SAV, and if you didn't roll well, feel free to reference the moxie uses at the top of the page.

Pivo manages to resist the discordant series of sounds, but only has a few seconds to act before he has to make another save?
Pivo, Mercurial Scavenger |
Pivo thinks for a split-second, deciding between two courses of action. whichever he would judge, as a hyper-intelligent octomorph, to be more likely to succeed...
A. Grasp it with all eight limbs, tearing the robot apart (focusing on removing power systems) until it is nonfunctional, or
B. Grabbing it and moving to one of the more destructive machines in the machine shop and using that to destroy it.
DM Default |
Pivo go ahead and make unarmed combat check. If you choose A (-10 to difficulty) or B (no modifier, but additional action to use machine during next turn. Still familiarizing myself with the combat rules.
Jonas Vikstrom |
Jonas turns off the radio in his suit until he has confirmation that Pivo destroyed the source of the noise.
With his radio off, he shouts,"I'm going to disable the airlock in the power plant so they can't get in this way!"
With the scrapper's gel he found earlier, Jonas attempts destroy the controls for the airlock to the reactor so that it can't be opened from the outside.
