In this version, Jin served in the Rangers but acted as a whistleblower against Captain Lem Boudin in the Argyre chapter. He leaked information about the captain's brutal handling of interrogations and the suppression of protests but failed to get him thrown out: all he managed was to get the whole division sidelined. The Captain figured out who must have been leaking his business to the Tharsis League and let's just say the rest of Jin's days in Argyre were less than pleasant.
He's since moved on to freelance ego hunting, taking jobs for the autonomists and Tharsis League alike. After working a few particularly rough jobs, one of his clients invited him to join Firewall- after explaining that he had already been working for them for some time. Having lost family during the Fall (what Martian hadn't?), he couldn't say no to ensuring it wouldn't happen again. His proxy gave him the codename "Pilgrim" as an homage to those old Pre-Fall westerns.
For the time being, he tries to keep the different factions he works for satisfied while staying one step ahead of Captain Boudin's attempts at revenge.

mechanics question
so i look at my character. he has, say, Engineering. it says COG 75 80. the 5 disparity is due to the morph.
then i look at Pilot Watercraft and that is REF 15 15. so no morph bonus.
my question is, do i add my REF score to the 15 or the 80 or whatever?
and then, if i remember correctly, the point is to roll d100 and get below your number?

You have two sets of skills in your stats - one for pure Ego, and the other one with morph.
In short - the rightmost number in you Morph skills is your total "ranks".
Pilot Watercraft REF 15 15 - you don't have any skill ranks in it and default on your aptitude score, REF, which is 15.
Engineering COG 75 80 - you have 75 ranks, and morph adds 5 more COG, making it 80.
Specialization provides a +10 modifier when using that skill in a situation appropriate to that specialization.

Still reading over 2nd edition rules, but should be compatible except for a few minor changes for ease of use.
For the first mission, we'll have you guys be strangers so you can roleplay meeting each other. Normal Firewall missions are usually like this, cells forming if they find you work well together or for specific missions.

1. What kind of game do you want to play? Eclipse Phase is a great setting and provides a variety of different conflicts and atmospheres. Would you like to be in non-stop action? Sneaking through enemy territory in soul-crushing horror? What about intrigue, each of you wondering if one among you is actually a traitor?
I can make tweaks to the core module based on your answers.

To all my games, I am going to be leaving tomorrow for a humanitarian trip to help those in need. I will only have access to my smartphone at the time, so I will not be able to post during this time. I estimate my return to the boards in the first week of January.
