Alastor Solrider |
Can we assume we are constantly taking 10 on Perception and Sense Motive (except when it's not possible to take 10 for whatever reason)? If not... Well... I take 10, for a total of 16 in both Perception and Sense Motive
"Answer me, goblin." says Alastor with a less than friendly voice tone. "Who was the human who told you about this cadaver? What was he or she like? Tell all you can."
The warrior draws his bardiche, just in case. Past battles and ambushes taught Alastor to be cautious.
Glaive Morningstar |
"Humans!" Glaive intones also. He follows Tarragon and the other biologicals down into the sewers, falchion drawn and buckler ready to repulse attacks.
Once the body is located, Glaive takes up sentry duty on one side of the examination area, and orders Tomp to take position on the other, so that Tarragon, the body and the other biologicals are between warforged sentries.
While the others examine the dead human, Glaive takes a moment to see if he can discern anything untoward or unusual about the tunnel that might give a clue as to the means of the human's demise.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Zakmakiv Siraski |
Seeing Tomp heading to the other warforges, Zakmakiv decides to follow them, speaking softly to Tomp, "Seeing you were kind and friendly to me, would you mind if I tag along to see what this all about...".
She follows the warforge group, always moving about them looking between their legs and above for any signs of danger, all the while altering her skin colour to to match up with warforge and surrounding walls conceal her presence. At times Tomp and others would not see her briefly, then suddenly appears in different spot, if they actively trying to keep track of her.
Not trusting the goblin considering his lies already, she notches an arrow ready to use her bow.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Stealth: 1d20 + 14 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 14 + 5 = 27
Tomp XR-451 |
"Come little friend, let's see what is this about" Tomp tells to the lizard as they walk behind the others,
When they arrived at the location, he stands guard on the other side as Glaive orders, in lookout for any trouble.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
He seems distracted with something...
Tarragon |
Following the others, Tarragon makes her way into the sewers. "I will never fully understand how the fleshies make such waste. How do they do it?" she thinks as she notices stuff that would make anyone gag that had a nose.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Apparently she is not far off from Tomp!:P
nightflier |
Glaive Morningstar |
Glaive nods, agreeing with the minotaur.
"Perhaps the robber, robbers, murderer or murderer's were disturbed. Or are sending a message to someone. Someone related to either the signet on the ring or any contents of the satchel. Or, perhaps he was robbed - of something more significant than either satchel or ring."
Zakmakiv Siraski |
After a little while moving about the legs of the group members looking for any danger and observing the body, she speaks softly in draconic, "Still wearing gold ring, not taken after all this time.[b]" She keeps her arrow notched ready to be pulled, she changes to common, "[b]Something is very strange here, rich human not been looted clean.", looks towards goblin, "Start talking, this is definitely not normal."
nightflier |
As concentrated on the goblin as all of you were, you failed to see a number of robed figures silently approaching from across the street and closing the alley entrance, as well as blocking the sides of the street. There are six of them. Before you manage to ask about their intentions, the leading figure raises its arms shoots a crossbow at the goblin you were questioning, killing him on the spot. The rest of the figures quickly draw short swords from somewhere and let their capes drop. You can see that all of them are warforged...
Tomp XR-451 |
Tomp raises his shield and points his sword to his fellows warforged,
"That's why nobody likes us!" He shouts in a way his robotic voice imitates a angry tone,
"Glaive! Tarragon! We are under attack.. Commencing order 2456: Attack, Formation: Train slam." Tomp robotic voice sounds without him moving his mouth, like playing the sound from his inner system like an alarm.
It would be better if nightflier rolled the init for everyone, no?
Also the formation and the order don't mean anything :P
Alastor Solrider |
Alastor doesn't say a word. He simply enters his favored combat stance and readies his weapon.
Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 I agree that it'd be better if nightflier rolled Initiative for everyone. My suggestion is for him to do it in the same order every time to avoid confusion: Initiative for the party in alphabetical order, then for the opponents, also in alphabetical order.
Glaive Morningstar |
Agreed - nightflier if you roll all our initiative rolls, then we can either:
A: post as we wish but our actions occur according to our initiative order; OR
B: post according to the order of initiative
Alastor Solrider |
I do like dynamic Initiative. The only reason I don't use it in live games is because it slows down game play too much, but that shouldn't be a problem in PbP.
BTW, nightflier, I suggest you keep a "current initiative order" list in the Campaign Info tab, so it's easier for us to find it mid combat.
Tarragon |
MY preference is that I roll Initiative for all and do that for every round, so that the fights are more interesting. Than I post Initiative order by scores. If that's fine with you, I'll presume that you are acting first in this round of combat, and I'll roll initiative for the 2nd round.
That's fine with me.
Drawing her longbow, Tarragon readies for combat.
"Your actions are unwarranted. Desist or you will be met with force." she says to the newcomers.
Glaive Morningstar |
After seeing the goblin fall with a bolt ending it's biological capability Glaive checks either end of the alley his group are in.
"Warforged! Very well allies, let's try to flank them if combat ensues." murmurs the warforged to his new compatriots.
Glaive can give everyone the Precise Strike teamwork feat for three rounds, so let's try to flank if possible...He'll likely grant that in Round 2...
Glaive Morningstar |
Okay I'm a little confused. Is this Round 1? And am I rolling my own initiative? If so, then Glaive will act as follows on his turn:
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Glaive nods at Tomp's plan, extends his arm and points to the 'forged crossbowman with his falchion tip.
"That one is mine. Flank them where possible!"
Round 1
Free Action: Call out the leader.
Swift Action: Vendetta: Justice Judgment on the leader/designated crossbowman.
Standard Action: Tactician - gives everyone the benefits of Precise Strike for three rounds.
Against leader: +1 to hit (Vendetta: Justice Judgment), +1 to damage (Order of the Lion); -2 to AC against all others except leader.
Codrus Parin |
Zakmiv is still kinda out of it, per her last Discussion post. I think we can trust our GM to NPC that part for now.
"I don't think they will, Ma'am!" Codrus said to Tarragon, hurling his Javelin at the Warforged nearest the wall. The shaft spins as it is released, uncoiling from the strap wrapped around it.
Javelin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Tomp XR-451 |
Tomp guards himself with his shield as he moves towards the warforged in the direction Glaive pointer, he starts to wave his longsword and attacks...
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
If hit
dmg: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
"Drop your weapons and surrender!" Tomp orders the warforged as he enter combat.
Alastor Solrider |
how far are they from us? Is there an open charge lane between Alastor and one of the warforged?
EDIT: Anyway, for now, I'll cast Bless.
With a few eldritch words, Alastor calls the power of the divine upon his new companions and himself.
That's a +1 to attack rolls, everyone.
Tomp XR-451 |
"Don't try to escape" Tomp puts aside his shield and stretches his metalic arm slashing at the running warforged with his longsword,
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Dmg: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
He reaches the warforged and the sword damages the body of his opponent.
Glaive Morningstar |
Glaive stretches out to attack the leader...
AoO: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 15 [+3 Str, +1 BAB, +1 Weapon Focus, +1 bless, +1 vendetta]
Shanngg!: 2d4 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1, 1) + 4 + 1 = 7 [Two handed Strength, +1 vendetta] Fantastic rolls... ;)
Glaive Morningstar |
No idea - nightflier just said take AoOs, so I did. I'm assuming I can strike at the leader I challenged/vendetta, for no reason other than it seemed like a good idea.
@Nightflier: If I can't strike at the leader, remove my +1 for vendetta. ;)
nightflier |
Wait... Are we adjacent to them? Are they running past us?
You entered the small alley. They blocked the exit and killed the goblin. As soon as they did that, they turned and ran. It's like you're all in the tunnel - hemmed by the buildings from the sides - and they are in front of you, running.
Zakmakiv Siraski |
As the warforge draw their weapons she fires her readied bow sending the arrow directly to the leader of the attacker.
Arrow: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 22
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
For AoO part, little confused here at position.
As they turn to run she notches another arrow and fires again at the leader. If leader is down, another target then.
Arrow: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 16
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
She would be using her chameleon ability to blend in with surroundings
Alastor Solrider |
AoO (In The Right Thread): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Of course I'd waste my nat 20 in the wrong thread... ><'
Anyway, if Reach/Combat Reflexes allow another AoO:
AoO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
nightflier |
As you proceed to overwhelm the group of strange warforged, Alastor proves to be extremely effective, bashing one so hard that its head was split open. The rest of them perish under the hail of blows and strikes, except the one that Corus had pinned down. The warforged struggles trying to dislodge the minotaur, but Corus' weight proves to be too much for his damaged body to handle.
Glaive Morningstar |
Glaive edges forward and places his falchion close to the enemy warforged's eyes.
"Do as the minotaur says! Stop struggling and tell us who sent you and why..."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Zakmakiv Siraski |
After the surprise attack, Zakmakiv speaks softly, "I keep watch while you question this live one...", moving to the edge of the ally entrance against the wall peering both directions to see if she can spot anyone else that may be interested in the goblin and dead human. All the while keeping an arrow notched.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
