Action 1
Vi shook her head in exasperation. "Come on, you can do better. Did she say when, or where? Lives could be at risk here!"
tag?
Heading back out, Vi said, "Maybe we should go back and check at the Anvil. Maybe Rathan's heard something."
The halfling had opted to stay behind again, choosing not to enjoy the sights of the city. While Bronwyn and the two forged had been staying at Squeak's place, and Vi had been heading home each night, Rathan had continued to stay at the Anvil. Probably didn't need to worry about paying for a bed either, he was a pretty popular fellow.
Action 2
As they read the owl-delivered message, Vi got a sick feeling in her stomach. "I think we should probably run. If they get there first, Rathan, her ladyship...everybody could be in mortal danger."
Palisade
As they read the owl-delivered message, Vi got a sick feeling in her stomach. "I think we should probably run. If they get there first, Rathan, her ladyship...everybody could be in mortal danger."
"Agreed. Let us proceed with due speed," Palisade announced, accompanied by another whirring purr from Bastion. The 'forged nodded sagely at the sound. "My brother agrees, and greatly hungers for the blood of the unbelievers."
Squeak Warforged
Action 1
When the gnome proved fruitless,
"Our obvious course of action is to find Lady d'Cannith immediately. Does anyone have a method of determining her location?"
Action 2
"Full Speed." agreed Squeak. "Given Vi's superior speed, she should go ahead to scout with Rathan. Bronwyn, Palisade and I will proceed at our full speed. Do not engage except to buy time."
ie split the party into 20ft and 30ft movement - in case the additional 50% increase in speed makes the difference. This is assuming that it is more than a minute or so away.

Hey guys, as some of you with a high perception modifier may have noticed, my pace has slacked off a little bit here.
I'm going through some deadlines at work and getting home late with barely enough time to do my duties as a player in other PBPs.
Although I don't want to put a stop to any of the games that I'm GMing, the pace will suffer some but I expect to be able to get a turn recap out every 48 hours (instead of the 24 hours that I would like).
Hopefully, this will sort itself out in the next couple of weeks and we'll get back to the breakneck pace I enjoy.

Bronwyn d'Deneith
Action 1:
Bronwyn resisted the urge to roll her eyes. "Thank you. That information is most helpful. We wouldn't have put those pieces together."
Action 2:
As the large bird dive bombed towards them, Bronwyn shrieked and hid behind Palisade. When she was certain they weren't being attacked, she bent down and picked up the scrollcase.
"I agree with you all. The faster we return to the Broken Anvil, the better."
"Full Speed." agreed Squeak. "Given Vi's superior speed, she should go ahead to scout with Rathan. Bronwyn, Palisade and I will proceed at our full speed. Do not engage except to buy time."
Bronwyn picked up her pace, "I should be able to keep up with Vi."

“Instructions, gold, and supplies are in this pack. Take it and go. The letter in the left-hand pocket explains everything but you must leave now! Trust me. If you can accomplish this task, the reward will be ·vast.”
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 I was sure Palisade would tank this roll, but apparently it's observant today. Need to rethink what I was about to write...
Palisade glanced at Lady d'Deneith for permission, then picked up the bag while interposing its body between the table and its ward - just in case it was trapped to explode on touch. While reaching for the bag, it noted the absence of jewellery it had noted the female wearing on the previous occasions they had met. She was trying to hide her allegiance, the 'forged surmised. But from whom? The 'forged who had been hounding them had not sought for House signets, and while Palisade considered itself a most indifferent observer of human beauty, it felt confident a large percentage of human males would find the female's features worthy of a second look. Thus, it doubted these meager measures would keep her safe from the 'forged pursuers. But perhaps there were other people whom she sought to avoid.
Perhaps it was not a good day to be a visiting member of House Cannith on Baron Merrix's territory.

Squeak could not stop himself from following d'Cannith panicked stare at the door. As she spoke his gaze remains fixed for enemies, and he took up an ambush position by the door. 'I can trust Palisade to deal with d'Cannith' he assured himself 'More important to remain ready to deal with incoming hostiles.'
Vi Olaro
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Vi took in her ladyship's appearance - the fact that she was waiting for them, not making them wait for her; the fact that she was dirty and disheveled; the fact that even her signet ring was missing. That, and the fact that she was clearly afraid, convinced the rogue more than the danger was real.
Turning to Palisade, she said, "Hold tight to that." To her ladyship, she couldn't resist staying, "We warned you that pursuing this was dangerous. We will take a look at this, and then make our decision. We can promise no more than that."
tag Does she react to the fact that Vi is "new"?
Keeping a keen eye out for followers, Vi led them out of the Anvil. In a soft voice, she said, "Follow me. We should stay away from Squeak's place - it's probably known by now. We'll go to one of Jorlyn's boltholes. He has one not far from here."
Bronwyn d'Deneith
Don't even know why I'm rolling, her perception is sorely lacking.
perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Bronwyn moved towards Lady Elaydren and sat down. She doesn't have to wait long before Elaydren pushed the bag towards them which Palisade moved towards. She strains to look around Palisade's large form in order to see their host. "Is this the last we'll see of you? If we have any questions based on this mysterious bag, is it possible to contact you?"

She looked at Vi and how the others seemed to take her in, changelings not being new to her, she asked, "Are you Arleth?"

Vi felt her skin crawl when the kobolds entered the room. The horrible little creatures were too-like swamp-lizards for her liking. Grabbing her wand, she activated it for the second time that day - only this time she was sure to need it. She then took a step closer to the hearth, to ensure that no foe came up beside her.
To the host, Vi called out, "Get out of here, and call the Guard! These people have recently attacked a House Sivis station, hurting the clerk and stealing a message. They come here intending harm!"
She then drew both daggers, and waited.

Bronwyn took a step forward and could only imagine the panic that Palisade or Squeak may be experiencing as their charge put herself closer to danger. But she needed to take the step closer to the kobolds in order to catch them in fire. As she took her step she was already speaking the words to make fire shoot out from her hands as she channeled the magic. The flames spewed towards the lizards burning everything in their path.
Casting Burning Hands and should catch the closest 2 kobolds. This will also alert authorities if the place starts on fire :)

Standard: Throw bomb at one furthest from B

Squeak had started to move towards the door when the kobolds burst through. He fumbled for his hammer, only to see his charge charge! 'So MUCH FIRE!' he thought. A burst of pride in his cold heart accelerated its tick. He was stunned to see the kobolds somehow survive the inferno - and could do little other than add more fuel to the fire and hope it helped. The bomb flew true, either but did little compared to Bronwyn's conflagration. or the fuel inside reigniting Bronwyn's conflgaration and finally downing the cursed Kobolds.
"Bronwyn! Back!" he called, positioning himself between the attackers and his Objective.

The Kobolds were reduced to little more than wizened, twisted, charred wrecks. Taking his lead from Bronwyn he gifted his own fire to the surviving Kobolds. Though insufficient to kill, the damage inflicted was grevious indeed.

Melee, greatsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Bah. Such is the life of a lowbie fighter, one bad roll and that's all she wrote that round
Palisade saw enemies rushing at Lady d'Deneith and knew his course of action was clear. Drawing his newly acquired greatsword the 'forged rushed into combat to confront the enemy warforged, swinging his blade more to demand attention than to hit, which was fortunate as that was exactly what his hasty blow amounted to.
Move to Bronwyn's right, waste the rest of the round with a bad roll once again T_T
Bronwyn d'Deneith
Bronwyn yelped in surprise as the remaining kobolds quickly closed the distance and even managed to draw blood from her. She took a step back, partly from reflex and partly because of Squeak's command, before aiming her finger at one of the kobolds and lighting him on fire.
I'm not sure where everyone is right now but if her fire jet can be aimed to get the warforged along with the kobold then she'll try and do that. The warforged may be more than 20ft away from her. Plus Palisade or Squeak may be in the way. She'd just try to get the most out of her attack.

Squeak stepped back to gain enough room to swing his own hammer - more interested in defence than attack. 'Critical damage to multiple subsystems. I can't take this one - not sure even Palisade can. Need to make sure it stays on target!' "All close up. Protect d'Cannith."

Sorry for the delay, took a last minute overnight with the kids, and ended up in a surprise dump of snow.
Vi was about to move in order to flank the kobold who'd hit Bronwyn, but then the wizard stepped back out of reach. Lacking any other options, she struck with both daggers, hoping to finish this one as quickly as Bronwyn had crisped up the other two.

Out of the corner of her eye, Bronwyn saw the destruction dealt to Squeak and she felt...concern. She couldn't imagine there not being a Squeak. Knowing she was taking a risk to her own safety, she took a step to the side and used her grandfather's ring to cast fire at the warforged. She made use of the space between Palisade and Squeak to catch the warforged in as much flame as possible, fueled by her anger at how it had hurt her friend.

Greatsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Yeah... these rolls... no way to salvage a natural single-digit.
Palisade had no way of visualizing its concern when unit Squeak fell before enemy attack. The numbers were not exactly favorable, and as before, the enemy 'forged proved a most effective combatant. But there was nothing else to do but to keep on fighting. Palisade knew Squeak was made well and made to last, so most likely he would remain repairable were they to prove victorious. Unfortunately, the enemy 'forged once again dodged Palisade's swing with insulting ease.

Palisade
“Give me the d’Canith woman and you all live!”
Palisade considered the request for a moment; after all, it wasn't Lady d'Deneith the enemy was asking to exchange. But the damage dealt to unit Squeak required recompense, and there was no particular reason to believe in the integrity of the enemy's promise either. Thus Palisade replied with his sword, and this time the enemy failed to dodge aside in time. The heavy blade scored a deep wound from the 'forged's left c´shoulder down to its hip.

Sweet, thanks!
Bronwyn knew she had hurt the warforged but now it was going after Palisade. If both Palisade and Squeak fell, what would happen to her? Sure they were often overbearing but they were a constant for her that was oddly comforting. Digging down deep into her subconscious, she touched a pool of magic that she had been warned about using. She was pretty sure she'd have a headache in the morning but it was well worth it.
Taking a step to make sure the flames engulfed the warforged and not Palisade, Bronwyn released a new bout of flames.

On a side note, I'll be traveling tomorrow and at my brother's until around the 28th. He lives in the country and doesn't have internet. I'll try to post from my phone but the formatting will be wonky and the posts will probably be short. However, if Bronwyn dies then it's kind of a moot point...
Palisade
“See how the weak fleshed fall under our might?”
"Declaration. Your fluids will become rust on this one's blade while your hear shall become a trophy for my elder brother," Palisade grated, its emotionless voice cold as it focused its single-eyes gazed on the creature that had dared strike down Lady d'Deneith. And before its own eye at that! Bastion's whirring squeak of righteous fury echoed in the chamber as the High Priest of the Creator-Goddess voiced his own displeasure and urged his little brother to greater effort.
Trading accuracy for power, Palisade took a quick step forward to knock the enemy half a step away from its fallen allied, while ramming its heavy blade at the enemy. The blunt tip skipped and slid on the enemy 'forged's armor, before sliding into the wound Palisade had carved a few seconds earlier. The light in its eye flashed as hydraulic muscles began whining with the effort of driving the blade through its enemy's softer internal structures.

Strength: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 Oh, so, now that the battle is over I can get good rolls, eh? Well, lucky Squeak ;^)
With the enemy forces neutralized Palisade's first concern was naturally Lady d'Deneith's well-being. But soon as it managed to dislodge its sword from the remains of its foe and turned around individual Elaydren was already ministering her, forcing a healing potion down her throat. The moment Palisade could see her eyes fluttering as she fought her way back to consciousness the 'forged turned to its comrade lying on a bed of smoldering floor.
It took a true effort, but Palisade did manage to drag its squadmate's unnaturally heavy body away from the path of the flames. Without wasting further time, Palisade reached for one of the repair oils it had purchased for just these kind of eventualities and broke the bottle in its fist, watching as the oils inside poured down on unit Squeak's body and began mending the alchemist's deep wounds.
Let's use one of the healing oils on Squeak to get him mobile.
Strength: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Yeah... out-of-combat double-digit rolls are OK with the website, apparently
With the immediate bodily needs of its companions taken care of, Palisade turned to the secondary issue of the fire. Clearly, there seemed little point in staying inside the building to watch it burn down - they could just as well leave - but it considered the possibility of the owner of the property laying blame on them for 'bringing their trouble inside' as it were. Dodging the attentions of the Sharn Watch would not be beneficial to them, so at least the modicum of effort to aid seemed appropriate.
Drawing its sword for the moment it took to cut a heavy tapestry off the wall, Palisade crapped the heavy cloth around himself like a cloak for ease of transport as it took a few hurried steps towards the flames, whirled around to cast the thing over the flames and without undue pause proceeded to stomp on the covered flames with its steel boots in an effort to beat down the fire.

Vi ran to Bronwyn's side, but she was already picking herself up, if somewhat wobbly. Her gown was covered in blood, but she would live.
