"And why would we come right back if we had?" Nella adds. "Why in the world would a bunch of foreigners want to cause trouble here anyway? Wouldn't it make more sense that it's a local job and we're the scapegoats? I mean really, think just a little bit!"

And just in under the wire on the last assist!
The guards relax, just a little as Jones puts down his weapon, though they still seem ready for trouble. But as the Pathfinders start proclaiming their innocence, they seem to relax a little more.
"Well, if you're not part of this." The guard says, indicating the broken door once more. "Then who is? We received word of a disturbance... and only just arrived as well. You seemed the obvious culprits."
He eyes you suspiciously again, clearly still pondering your place on that suspect list. But then he shakes his head with a frown and lowers his weapon, saying something to the others, who then lower their axes as well.
He then calls out a few sharp commands in Skald. One of the guards immediately sets out to the east, while another hurries past you and down the street to the north.
"They send word to the nearest guardhouses." He says, in common. He points at the last guard, issuing another command, and the man starts slowly moving around the building, apparently scouting the perimeter.
"We must wait for backup, before we can go inside." He says. "If they are in there, they will not get back out."
It becomes clear they don't seem to want to go inside to check out the problem themselves at this point.

Masym eyes the guards with a bemused look as he bends over to retrieve his spear. "Yeah, we get the message." Glancing towards the others he nods, "You all ready? Let's get this over with."
Masym would lead the way here, unless someone else wants to he he. GM: Is the inside of the building dark?

"It seems a bit dark and scary in there," Malusha replies in response to Masym's suggestion that they enter the building. "But I don't think we have a choice."
Malusha draws his scimitar and then casts a light spell on it. The blade begins to glow like a torch.
"I'm ready."

EM±GM |

Seeing the guards not immediately going in to see what is going on, the Pathfinders decide to go in, instead.
This elicits a brief comment of protest from the lone remaining guard standing vigil at the door, but he doesn't move to stop you, saying something in Skald that you do not understand.
As you enter, the place is indeed totally dark, lit now only by the magical glow coming off of Malusha's blade, casting odd shadows as you move in.
A short hallway greets you. Bits of shattered wood and iron are strewn across the floor and disappear into the darkened cornerns. Two sturdy flights of steps lead up to the second floor on either side, while directly ahead, openings lead off the hallway into darkened rooms to either side.
Only the sound of the chest as Wei Tchak drags it across the floor can be heard.

Wei Tchak slowly enters the room where the noises were coming from. The louder noise becomes immediately obvious off to his right in the darkness somewhere, as a angry squeeling erupts as he enters. His eyes are able to pierce the dim light however, and he sees a large disgusting four-legged creature, something between a dog and a rat. He also hears another creature back there.
Ufortunately, he is unable to learn more than that, as the room is suddenly filled with the howling shrieks and yowls that give the Pathfinders (not named Wei Tchak) sudden flashbacks. The source of this noise turns out to be small humanoids jumping at Tchak out of the darkness. Goblins!
One lashes out from beneath a table, jabbing at feathered ankles with a small blade and drawing blood before Tchak can react. (3 damage to Wei Tchak) Another goblin drops down from the ceiling onto another table next to him, but lands awkwardly and his blow goes wide.
There was a surprise round here. Wei Tchak noticed the one of them, and everyone heard the other critter. But two of them were super stealthy!

The goblin in the back of the room finally gets the four-legged creature to cooperate, and lets out a triumphant cry as he gets atop it. Phoebee starts up an inspiring song, though the words are a bit dark, and Nella blesses everyone's efforts once more.
Jones can not see the goblin dog, only the goblin beneath the table. With a 5' step north, you can kind of see things, though there will be cover penalties there too due to the doorway.

Not to be deterred, the tengu says a quick spell, and immediately reverses his blade to swipe at the goblin a second time. The goblin is not ready for the quick counter, and the blade cuts deep, dropping the goblin to the table, a strange sigil forming on his chest around the wound.
Phoebee maneuvers to get a better line of sight, while continuing her song as Nella invokes a small blessing of accuracy on Malusha. The priest is unable to reach the evasive goblin under the table however, as it continues to evade everyone.
Jones, ignoring the enemy, ducks into room weaving around his companions to the far side. The goblin under the table takes a swipe at his legs, but can't quite reach.
