Munk appears, late to the party.
"Hoooooooly--we need to m-m-m-make it over that? Maybe this isn't a good idea after all." Munk shivers, and puts on cold weather gear. His body tenses all over. Human monks are not great with cold.

Odd groans audibly (<-- oof, and I groaned at that) after making a few quick calculations in her head. "I take it nobody brought a tent? I guess we'll have to dig shelters in the snow. If we're lucky, we'll be at the summit in two days. If we're lucky." She pulls off her pack and rummages around for a minute. "Aaaand I forgot to bring my pyro kit. Anybody have tindertwigs? Flint and steel? I hope everybody at least brought food."
"I'll prepare a few extra endure elements spells tomorrow, for those that need them. Perhaps Skybek and Paul could also share that burden. One each for Munk, Riegel, and Tuesday in addition to ourselves. Is that agreeable?"
I don't remember what Tuesday's patron is, but I doubt it's Endurance.

Odd is skeptical. "Game? Here? Unlikely, I think." She looks around at the party and frowns. "I don't know. I'm of half a mind to try to find a shelter now, and begin the ascent tomorrow once we're better prepared. Paul looks half-frozen already."
The DC for the fort save in this weather is 15, plus 1 for every previous consecutive check. You and Munk will only have to make that check every hour, but Paul will need to do so every 10 minutes (unless Paul brought cold-weather gear?). Even you will eventually have a tough time keeping out the cold.

Was that fire, you said? From behind the party strolls a tall, dark teenager with a self-satisfied smile holding a burning bundle of sticks in an upraised hand. Though he's bundled in cold weather gear, it's clear that he's too slim at the shoulders to be proportionate for even lanky human teenagers. A thin sheen of black hair run over the tops of his ears. His fingernails are conspicuously clean.
I am Tuesday. From Meriden, a plane few know but that I shared with too many others like myself. I have a few friends, and many playthings. Tuesday walks around to each of the party members, shaking their hands and looking briefly into each of their faces with glittering green eyes.
I look forward to meeting you all. Let us use our daylight hours wisely and make progress up the mountain until we find shelter. I will feed the ashes of an Endure Elements scroll to my scorpion tonight. I dislike getting wet.

Hi everyone! Sorry I'm late! I guess I'm out of one wilderness and into the next! Tuesday actually had the cold weather gear, a scroll of endure elements, and tinder in his witch's kit prior to this campaign. I typically also prepare spark, guidance, message, and detect magic so hopefully this doesn't come off as too metagame-y. My lvl 1 spells prepared are ear piercing scream, ray of enfeeblement, charm person, and burning hands. Lvl 2 spells prepped are animate rope and glitterdust.
Also Nicole playing androgynous characters is super fun. I don't know if anyone picked up on it last game, but T'Orca's PGP is none of the above. Worth the challenge!

"Ah, Tuesday, I was wondering when you'd show up." Doing another assessment check...
Odd -- endure elements spell
Riegel -- cold weather outfit
Munk -- cold weather outfit
Tuesday -- cold weather outfit (or endure elements)?
Skybek -- freezing his butt
Paul -- freezing hir butt
Is this correct?
...she begins to take off the bulk of her clothing (armor, tunic, and boots excepted) and hands them to Paul. "Tuesday, would you be willing to lend out your cold weather outfit to Skybek, if you've got endure elements active -- or let him pay you back for the scroll later? If everyone has some protection of some kind, I'm okay with beginning the ascent. I can help heal any frostbite accrued today before prepping more helpful spells tomorrow.
Otherwise I still vote we make camp and a fire immediately."
| Dungeon Master S |
That is correct. Tell me if you push forward or build a camp and try to survive the night so that you can better handle the elements tomorrow.

Hail, Paul! I am the same as when you met me last. I just prefer a thorough survey of any new encounter, person or otherwise. A little batting around never did a sock any harm, eh? Tuesday gives Paul hearty slap on the back and giggles to himself.
Idgethun, My endure elements spell will come into effect tomorrow, after my communion with my familiar. We can prepare a camp for tonight and I will lend Skybeck my cold weather gear in the morning.
I adapted Tuesday's character a bit after a) close observation of the original Tuesday and fur's behavior. b) thinking about what an older teen with extremely high intelligence but average wisdom utilizing magics he understands only instinctually would be like.

Riegel then starts to look about with an experienced eye for signs of shelter that can accomodate a group this large (first priority); firewood (2nd priority); fresh water (3rd priority); and any food to gather/hunt (4th priority)
only one survival check for all these?

Idgethun

At dawn, Idgethun rises and traces a spiral in the dirt(?) with a dagger. Pacing around the spiral, she quietly recites a few passages from The Bones Land in a Spiral.
I'll prepare two counts of endure elements, casting one on myself and one on Riegel. That leaves me with shield of faith, stunning barrier, truestrike, and magic weapon for the day. If Paul, Skybek, and Tuesday each prepare their own, can one of you prep an extra for Munk? (I also don't have to be the one to prep Riegel's if one of the more caster-types wants to take that on.)
Tuesday of Meriden

That night Tuesday eats the ashes of endure elements . In the morning, spends an hour tracking his scorpion pace across the ground. His tail whisks to and fro as he watches.
I can cast Munk's endure elements in addition to my own. My other spells prepared are thus ear piercing scream, burning hands, animate rope and glitter dust. Cantrips are spark, guidance, message, and detect magic

Much obliged, Odd. Riegel shares his food with the group. I can prob'ly forage enough for our food, but it'll slow us down. I don't carry all that much, and what I have won't last long.
I can feed 4 of us by taking 10 and moving at half speed. if I don't take 10 and rely on the roll, it could go "fail to find any food" to "able to feed all of us". Thoughts? anyone else have any rations?

"I've also got some food, and some to share next time." Munk smiles and points into his bag—there are enough trail rations to share with the group once or twice. "Mind you, it's not very good food. But it'll keep us alive."
"All right! Let's see if we can't beat this mountain." If no objections, Munk starts down the trail Riegel found the day before. As he walks, he whistles a shanty he learned in his childhood.

"Hmm, for a march order I think Riegel should go first, then maybe Paul after Munk, Tuesday in the middle, Skybek, and I'll pull up the rear? Any other suggestions?"
Riegel -- Munk -- Paul -- Tuesday -- Skybek -- Odd. Thoughts?
| Dungeon Master S |
Assuming the marching order presented...
The assent is a miserable affair. It's slow going, though you do think the 2 day estimate is fairly accurate. After a brief stop at midday you continue onwards. The sun glares off the speckled stone of the mountain, unobstructed by clouds or plants more dense than low mountain scrub. A rockslide ahead covers much of the natural pathway, narrowing the trail to less than two arm spans wide. Opposite the rockslide, a sheer drop falls away, giving a clear view of the mountainside below and the vast Tandak Plains to the west and south. In the middle of the path, Riegel hits a tripwire releasing an axe that travels directly up the line from behind.
AXE: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11, but the construction sends it wide and it strikes a stone off to the side. Odd and Skybek take a sigh of relief when the second part of the trap releases. The ground beneath lets go into a hastily dug pit at the front of the line. Rigel and Munk dart for solid ground.
Reigel: REF: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Munk: REF: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Both fall into the pit, thankfully only 10'. Not so thankfully into spikes.
Reigel: Spike Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 QTY: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Munk: Spike Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 QTY: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Reigel: Total damage: 1d6 + 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (6) + (2, 1) + 4 = 13
Munk: Total damage: 1d6 + 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (5) + (1, 4, 4, 4) + 4 = 22
Inside the pit bladders of some substance also burst all over the two Pathfinders. They find themselves covered in some kind of concoction that smells horrible, but doesn't seem to have any other adverse effect.
Idgethun
|
"AGH!" exclaims Odd as the gunslinger and monk go tumbling. Hastily she digs out her silk rope and ties a few quick knots in it, lowering it down the pit wall.
Once they're out, she'll forgo shield of faith to spontaneously cast cure light wounds on Munk, using her healing blessing to empower it (blessings 3/4).
Empowered CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 x1.5 = 13 healing to Munk
"Pharasma will not judge you yet, my friend."
Tuesday of Meriden

Tuesday peers gingerly over the edge of the pit and hollers down, Wow. Um, bummer. If either of you've got a wand I could uh, heal you I guess
Tuesday also will continuously cast detect magic from the middle of the marching order and keep an eye out for magical traps.
Munk Het
|
Out of the pit, Munk is laying on the path, cussing loudly—after all, he did grow up a ship. His butt is bleeding from the spikes, but thankfully his ability to fight is unimpaired. When he finally stands, he groans from the pain. He tries to get some of the gunk off his body.
"UUUGGH. Thanks, Odd. That feels better. Tuesday, if you wouldn't mind, I'd love another heal." Munk fumbles through his pack, finds the wand, and hands it to Tuesday.
Idgethun
|
"Perhaps the Lucky Drunk would be so good as to offer them some healing instead?" Odd says to Skybek. Probably no need to waste wand resources; between the cleric and the two warpriests we should be okay for today.
Odd would also like to cast a lot of create water to try to wash off whatever that foul-smelling substance is.

The party finds no sign or clue as to the trap origin. After completing the rest of the day of hiking, he manages to declare a good camping spot.
The path widens here into a mostly level field of scree between steep slopes up and down from this altitude.
