When the party is unable to come up with a pass phrase, the floor opens out from under them. Agnes and Hostpur catch themselves; they do not fall. Ethendril falls takes a whopping 2 HP of damage.

Since people wanted a fireball:
The paladin lands on a fire beetle. The impact squeezes the air out of it. The beetle farts and there's a small "poof" of light beneath the human. :-)

You all work together to help the paladin out of the pit. Wayreth takes 20 to unlock the doors, and we all move on to room A11.

A single iron lever protrudes from the wall next to the door in this otherwise empty chamber's west wall. To the east, a ten-foot-wide hallway curves to the north. A four-armed metal statue blocks access to the eastern corridor.

Yeah, I hadn't thought to take the crest. If we can still make it back and obtain it, I'll do so now and then present it. If it instead attacks us when we don't immediately present it, I'll prepare for combat!

Silver Crusade

When you don't present the crest within a round, the statue takes up a defensive posture.

I leave it up to you guys. As written, the statue only takes a defensive posture and blocks the hallway. You can easily go get the crest and return. But, if you want to fight it, we can do that, too.
