Merisiel watches the others and then adds in "I'm a good aim"
She points at the door. "Want to check the dummy room some more, or head back the other way?"
"I say check the room."
Bygone PBP |
You check the room, but apart from the old training dummy you don't find anything useful.
only one door left in this level :)
"Shall we check out the last door. Ooh, Hmm?"
Merisiel Level5 |
Merisiel advances on the last door, checking it quickly for traps.

GM Baerlie |
You move to the remaining door in this level and open it.
A tiled pool dominates this chamber, which has a fifteen-foot high barrel-vault ceiling. The waters are clear and three feet deep. Three marble platforms featuring the same mosaic design found in the monastery above rise along the pool's center, protruding six inches above the water's surface. Four octagonal, domed alcoves in the corners each hold a marble pillar. Near thesoutheast alcove, a large hole has been dug in the wall.
There's a strange serenity in this room, and the sound of the pool's water gently lapping against stone echoes rhythmically. Tiles of blue and gold on the north wall form the message: "In the Midst of Chaos, a Disciplined Mind Imposes Order." This room once served as a place for the monks of the order to relax and meditate, and are still useful for those functions.
In the south-east corner you see a pair of grioths guarding an exit to a tunnel.

He addresses the question in common to the odd looking creatures.
Merisiel Level5 |
Merisiel slips into the shadows and starts to slowly work her way around the pool, clockwise.
30' move, double moving at half speed, makes ten on stealth for 22. Hard to count, but probably six or seven rounds of sneaking at that speed.
Bygone PBP |
Seeing Merisiel slip away to the northwest, Bygone steps into the room and waves his hands at the creatures.
"Hey you! Were talking to you! What are the terms of passage?"
Maybe that will help her sneak up on them. Though what she's going to do when she gets there I don't know.
GM Baerlie |
The creatures are grioths. Batlike humanoids with a long, ratlike tail. They speak only two languages, but not Common. When they see you entering the room they attack. They say something to each other.
They say Protect the dragon.

You know that these creatures are Grioths. They are immune to cold and sensitive to light.
While Lucius moves into the room while Merisiel waits in the shadows. Al'Khain also moves into the room and casts a spell at the grioth above the pool while his wolf attacks the one hovering above the walkway. The grioth at the pool resists the spell, but the wolf bites a big piece out of the grioth's belly.

"Well.." says the elf.
"That was odd. Never seen something like them before. Humanoid bats? Who would have thought it. I wonder what they thought they were guarding? Treasure maybe?"
Bygone PBP |
"Rest first then descend. Yep, I'm good with that."
GM Baerlie |
I'm a bit confused. Which stairs do you mean. You are at the lowest level of the monastery, there is only the tunnel to the east (the one the grioths were guarding) and stairs up to the main building of the monastery (the ones you came down). From there stairs lead up to the upper levels of the monastery. Unless I missed something on the map...
Bygone PBP |
We could probably handle either is my bet, but if the GM suggests something you should follow it. With Bygone's personality he will agree with anyone and everyone, so he will be good with another plan if suggested.
