Crusader reporting for duty
DM Beckett |
Checking in as well.
I have a few characters I could run, but am not sure what level you are looking at.
Daveak Bringer of Destruction |
Venture-Captain Hestia Themis, a small, unassuming woman
of Taldan heritage with dark hair and eyes, holds a large
sheaf of papers in her small hands and clears her throat. Her
booming voice, the antithesis of her stature, fills the main hall
of the small Pathfinder Lodge in the Taldan city of Cassomir.
“One of our own has been kidnapped. Pathfinder Cestis was
taken just days ago from a relics auction in the Imperial Naval
Shipyards, and we believe his dissapearance to be related to
the six dozen or so kidnappings of the last several months.
Now that one of our own is missing, this has become a Society
matter—something we’ll get to the bottom of.”
Themis gestures to a teenage boy standing beside her, who
nervously regards his surroundings and sweats profusely,
his thick brown hair matted and wet against his head.“This
is Nefti, the assistant to the biggest thorn in my side in
Cassomir—an agent of the Aspis Consortium named Kafar.
Kafar is also missing, taken from the same relics auction along
with Pathfinder Cestis and a dozen other citizens of Cassomir.
Nefti was at the auction, saw where a small group of the
kidnapped victims were taken, and his handlers in Cassomir
have give us access to him so that he might guide us to our
missing Pathfinder. If you happen to find Kafar...” Themis
grinds her teeth. “Let him go, per the agreement I’ve just
made with his superiors. Your priority is Cestis, and I think
Nefti can lead you to him. Any questions?”
Makarn Zelkor |
Makarn is a ruby-skinned Tiefling with prominent horns, dark eyes, jet black hair and a neatly trimmed chinstrap beard. His posture exudes a gruffness and sense of urgency. He acts as someone in a hurry, with no interest in niceties or polite conversation. His clothes are black with a white trim. A glimpse can be caught of metal rings under his shirt. At his side sits a plain looking sword in an unadorned scabbard on his belt. Across his chest is a belt worn as a bandolier with a number of knives in small sheathes.
"My only question is 'when do we leave'?" Makarn says in a deep, gravelly tone.
Soth-Loren the Sword Knight |
Soth-Loren waits patiently as the lady speaks, taking a seat as she offers it, and like a proper gentleman, standing when she does. During the briefing, he takes out his journal and takes a few notes. He wears an older style armor with many battle scars upon it. But it's obvious that great care is taken to keep it in good working order despite the rougher appearance. He wears a red tabard indicating he had done some time in the Mendev Crusades, and a small patch hinting at a tour in Lastwall as well. It's also clear that he has thrown in his lot with Andoran's political views from other dress.
"Indeed, milady, a few questions, if I may. How can we be certain that we can trust Nefti in this? Would it not be wiser to instead have the man tell us the location, and allow us to go there and save everyone.
"Do we know who may have kidnapped your man? Or why so? Is it know which relics both your man Cestis and this Nafar where looking into?"
"And finally, you mentioned prior kidnapings. What can you tell us about these? Where the victims ever found or freed? Has there been a ransom? Anything you know might be of importance, milady."
Sorry for all the questions. I know that probably half of them are not in the scenario.
Triglav Cymrman |
"Venture-Captian Themis,"Triglav begins with a slight bow and continues in his heavy Ustalavian accent, "as a servant of Taldor, I assure you we will rescue Pathfinder Cestis."
Serpentfang |
Serpentfang enters the room and gives the lady an acknowledging nod and proceeds to grab two chairs. He sits in one and props his feet on the other and patiently listens as she speaks, all the while fiddling with his trusty dagger. As she finishes with the orders Serpentfang says "I have a question, Where is this place, and will this mission be dangerous? If so....count me in."

different. Only those associated with the Imperial Naval Shipyards were taken—shipwrights, carpenters, navy guards, and so on. This recent kidnapping, where they took Cestis, was brash and bold. They grabbed more than a dozen people in one attack, neglecting to grab Nefti. Their mistake is our fortune.”
Makarn Zelkor |
Makarn strokes his beard in thought, begrudging his advice to the group at large. "Wide scale kidnapping typically suggests slavery. Targeting specific groups speaks to a well-defined application. Why want shipwrights and carpenters? Surely it is to make them build ships. Perhaps the boy wasn't of much use for their purposes. Who would dare to incur the wrath of The Pathfinder Society? You'd need an Army. Or perhaps a Navy. Something to think on." he says, walking toward the exit.
"We should get going, we might have a war to prevent."
Ryuchi |
In the back of the room stands a man of Tian decent a friendly smile on his face and his arms crossed over his chest.
He is of average height and wiry of build and wears simple linen clothes and carries not much with him besides a small pouch and what looks like two connected farming tools.
How do you kidnap so many people at once? Was there magic at work in this?
Spongy MacXPSoak senior |
Shane looked around the group. They were a strange gathering, but that he was used to by now, even though he had only just joined the society, he'd worked with one of theirs for half his life. But it was like they'd gone out of their way on this one. Gripping the hilt of his sword, he looked at the venture captain, then at the tiefling that seemed to think himself in charge. Then he looked at Nefti
"Hey kid. he said smiling. "You look more nervous than a goat round a gaggle of dwarves, there something you need to tell us?"
Shane had once been like Nefti. A little hoodlum straight on his way to the gallows, so he could be understand the boy being nervous, surrounded by all these armed people, but then, he might really be hiding things.
Soth-Loren the Sword Knight |
Makarn strokes his beard in thought, begrudging his advice to the group at large. "Wide scale kidnapping typically suggests slavery. Targeting specific groups speaks to a well-defined application.
Kidnapping for slaves was my belief as well.
"Hey kid. he said smiling. "You look more nervous than a goat round a gaggle of dwarves, there something you need to tell us?"
"Let us not bait the boy, friend. How would you feel should the circumstances be reversed, and it where you being held by the Aspis Consortium? I have heard tales from friends near Bloodcove that where taken for a month, tortured, and then released, and never really recovered, body or mind. But, we have the opportunity, both the Society and young Nefti here, to see that the Pathfinder Society is is not the Aspis Consortium." Turning more to Nefti now, "You will not find that we backstab each other for advantage or gain, here, young Nefti. Pathfinders watch each other's back, no matter how we feel about the person. For now, you are with us, and that means we all will also have your back. You have a chance to walk a different path now, to leave behind the Aspis Consortium, and a walk that will likely end with your murder or slavery to a master much more cruel and cunning. But you do not have to walk that path. You have a choice, and hopefully, once this is all done, and you have seen both sides, hopefully you will be ready to make it."
Serpentfang |
After hearing the group Serpentine rises up with excitement, sheathes his dagger and walks to Negri and greets him with a welcoming smile...well as welcoming as a gnome can be."Nefti my boy you're in good hands, i'll die before i'd allow anyone to hurt you. Just keep your end of the deal and I'll keep mine." He then turns to the group."Unknown enemies, mysterious kidnappings, missing officials. Yea...my blood boils with excitement, I'll be waiting outside."

Shane chuckles for a second then looks at the cleric. ~Yeah, sure. They all love this kid, but only as long as he serves their purpose. The kid is right to be wary, and better keep on his toes.~
"Well then, please let us follow the boy to where these people took our man"
DM Snider |
Your sense motive check tells you that he will do everything in his power to help you get his master back.
it doesnt give me stats for him and he will not be helping in combat
DM Snider |
Perched precariously overhanging the dirty harbor water stands the Inn of the Unlucky Sailor. A fresh coat of white paint glistens on half the inn’s outside walls, and most of the windows are boarded up. The roof leans slightly toward the harbor, as if at any moment the entire thing could come off and slide into the ocean. The dock leading up to the inn is made of rotting wood connected to thick, rank-smelling pilings. Several small rowboats are currently tied up along its length.
I just put your character where they are on the map so you could see them... when you approach you come from that direction and can rearrange your order your self
Soth-Loren the Sword Knight |
Before approaching, I'll turn to our guide. "You are certain this is the place?" Dismounting, I'll secure my trusty steed, "Fair Lady" somewhere safe, draw a wand, and cast Shield and Guidance on myself (just before entering, unless something else happens first).
Triglav Cymrman |
Triglav eyes the Inn warily. He cautiously walks forward and puts his ear to the southern door. Listening for telling sounds or signs of movement.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
if there are any cracks in the door, Triglav will try to peek through
Makarn Zelkor |
"Mmm, looks like a decent kick might tip the thing over." Makarn says, leering at the building. He tries to take note of anything out of the ordinairy.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Soth-Loren the Sword Knight |
"The sign indicates that the building is an inn, or at least appears to be. We could send in someone looking for a room, while the others wait without, ready of course. This might allow us to get a bit of recon on the area."
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Are there people coming in and out, or others nearby standing around? Lookouts or witnesses.
DM Snider |
I will post as soon as serpentfeng does

Serpentfang |
"hmm this looks like a death trap" Serpentfang thoroughly inspects the building. Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
