About Gaius Pellandir

Backstory: Gaius is a sorcerer born to working-class Varisian parents in the city of Magnimar. The nature of his magical lineage can only be guessed at. Although he comes from a family of travelling conjurers, none had ever become wizards of renown. Nor had any of them powers like that which come to Gaius with ease. He is a scholar in his own way, but often finds work as an occult detective of sorts. Identifying magical objects or helping citizens with magic-related problems that common law enforcement won't go near. He is often sarcastic and cynical, although beneath that is a passionate thirst for freedom and justice that would rival that of any paladin. This largely stems from his contact with Chelaxian mystics, who are all too often tied to devils and their evil works. His hatred for those who use magic to enslave others burns ever in his heart. He is cunning and ruthless in his own way, and has the gifts of eloquence and charm. However, although he can be manipulative, his actions always stem from a heartfelt desire to do good.
