Favoring her shield at the moment, the gnome gets ready in case something comes out to attack her. Under her breath she curses while waiting for the inevitable.

"Great, we're slagged, I'm getting my shield and mace ready. Maybe a spell if I need it."


The half orcs remain in formation, not moving to Linpul and Lendaro's hiding spot. A few minutes pass. The half orcs shift a little restlessly.

He steels his nerves, and devotes his focus to aiming true.
After moving a few paces, he fires an entangling shot at the leader.

Ouch. I guess Thera did just get incredibly wounded! To be honest I didn't want to use up performances on mooks, and had no idea what else to do so far up the stairs.

Unfortunately, due to the way the scouting party positioned themselves. They either get charged, or I do. Seeing as I'm planning on retiring Thera at the end of the book anyway (as that errata pretty much ruined her) I'd rather them hit me, than someone else. Ironically enough, if Thera drops, it would be the second time in succession where someone rolled diplomacy and Thera falls unconscious immediately after!

Uran moves from the stairwell into the room and fires at one of the half-orcs threatening his friends.

Thera moves in and strikes one of the enemies but the half orc knocks away her fist with her spiked gauntlet.

Uran blasts one of the half orcs and knocks her down.

"My God has commanded you to die. You must be punished for not believing in Him. If He wishes us to perish in order to serve him, then we shall do so." The boss cleric speaks and raises his hands up.

Hope you don't mind, but I have recoloured the half-orc I plan on attacking to dark red just to make it clear!

Should he die in the first hit, I'll attack the one to his north, in contact with Uran with my Rapid Shot.

Reeling from the spiked gauntlet hitting her chest, Sarainy takes a sharp breath.

"Hellion is no god, he is but a fiend of the pit. You've had your opportunity, if you truly wish to die in his name then so be it!"

Whirling backwards with a flick of her cloak, bow in hand, Sarainy fires off two quick shots at the half-orc who hit her.

Dr Lendaro wills another round into his pistol as he scoots away from the orc in charge. At Sarainy's side, he draws his rapier, and fires a disruptive shot at the orc leader.
"Ha! Because we don't believe in him. No Orc God would give two dwarf droppings for our beliefs."

Quickly moving forward, the tiny gnome covers herself with the faint outline of an exoskeleton before it vanishes. Drawing her mace she prepares for a defensive maneuver favoring her shield to her weapon.

"Tetsuda, defend me!"

Rakdon blasts one of the acolytes with his magic. The bolts of energy strike her to the ground.

Sarainy's shots pierce though the chest and stomach of the acolyte, who tries futilely to catch her arrows.

Lendaro shoots the leader orc. Blood drips from his chest but the cleric continues to stand proudly.

"Careful around here Tetsuda, but I want you to flank with me on this one. Uran, careful now that you are in the open. Once we're done here we have to help Thera. By the way, are you doing alright on your end Thera?"

Her sentence ends with a grunt as she adjusts the trajectory of her mace towards the half orcs face. Any of his cries of pain would soon be muffled by more cries of pain as the beetle proceeded to flank and strike at the man. Her shield still raised in case either of the men retaliated against her.

Thera strikes down the nearest orc, slamming down its head to the ground with a two hit combination.

Uran leaves a gaping wound in the stomach of one of the acolytes.

Linpul's mace slaps the half orc leader across the face. Reeling from the blow, Nalakai swings a fist at Tetsuda but misses. The beetle rips off the cleric's foot. He falls down and dies.

The acolytes laugh as soon as Nalakai dies, their voices maniacal. Moving around Thera, they begin to channel negative energy in the room.

Solaria shakes off most of the damage from the acolytes power from Hellion. "Well done everyone, Linpul can you do your trick and get rid of the talking picture panel? We'll stay back whilst you do it, last time it caused a great deal of pain. Do you think that Hellion can see us through those pictures?" she muses. "The thing seemed to know we were here and direct its followers to us, despite your quiet approach." as she leads the way back up the stairs, out of the range of the evil powers in the panel.

Once the panel is disabled, she returns to the room again, "Gather round friends and gain Desna's blessing." ensuring that her healing power does not aid her enemies.

Channel positive 3d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4) = 14 HPs back to all allies,excluding any enemies.

"Now lets search this place and see what we can find, anything on those bodies of any interest."

Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Once they have completed the search, Solaria asks, "If you can check that the doors are safe and not rigged with death and pain, then I can look through and see what we face." pointing to the doors to the east.

Once checked for traps,Solaria uses her door sight on each of the doors, starting with the most northern of the eastern doors, then the double doors, then to the most southerly of the eastern doors.

"It does seem that Hellion is very much aware of our movements. I guess it was pretty obvious we might come down here, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he was scrying on us too. Or perhaps these viewing mirrors work both ways?"

"Either way, definitely glad you are getting rid of them Linpul!"

Once everyone has had a moment to heal up and reorganise, Sarainy thinks perhaps now is a good time to make a move.

"We are pushing our luck a bit... Rakdon is out of spellcasting, we used a lot on Helskarg. Perhaps now is a good opportunity to head back to our base and rest up. This Hellion is far too overconfident in his abilities to possibly try and run. Say, did we ever decide on that gang name?"

Releasing her beetle like aspect, the tiny gnome puts her shield away, and pulls out Tetsuda's leash. Wrapping the leash around his abdomen, Linpul hands the leash to Uran.

She heads over to the viewing screen and plops herself down before digging through her backpack for the right tools when it dawns on her.

"But... but what if we can use said screen? Can't we just loot it like we would from any other dangerous creature's lair? If we can find or purchase a generator I'm sure we could use it on our own and figure out how these things work. Taking them apart can only tell us so much, like what makes it tick, but not how it ticks. And even if we can't use it we can probably sell it for either scrap or to someone who can use it for quite a bit."

Thinking back to going to town Linpul nods, her hair bobbing as she rummages through her backpack.

"Now where was that wrench? I know I put it in here somewhere. Maybe the good Dr. can check the door while I take this thing apart, or steal it. There's always some money to be made on these kinds of trips."

Solaria waits for Linpul and the Dr to remove and disable the panel, before continuing, "Lets clear this area first, maybe we can set up camp here. Save us venturing out and maybe we can glean some more information. I still have healing power, and a few scrolls, so let's make the most of our effort here."

"We could rest here. I could always seal the doors with Ion Tape until we are ready to continue. If we continue, Rakdon does have a wand."


Solaria's vision:

The north eastern room:

The eastern portion of this room is a shambles of twisted metal and debris, leaving the western portion to serve as a combination bedroom and personal shrine.

The eastern room:

The north wall of this room is a tangle of ruins and debris, while in the center of the room stand four tall pillars with glowing bands of pale purple light pulsing along their sides.

There are two robots made of different parts standing still in the center of the room. Both of them have rotary saws for arms (just one each). A monitor is on the northern wall of this room.

The south eastern room:

The walls of this room are decorated with images of mechanical claws reaching toward the sky. Several simple bedrolls, eight in all, lie on the floor here.

Lendaro disables the video screen. It flickers with static, flashing for an instant with the image of a red fiend, and then blackness.

Solaria describes her visions to the company of heroes. All can read the vision above. She warns her friends that there are robots in the middle room, they look like the only dangers. If Sarainy can shoot her bow while wielding it I'd like to equip it if that's okay with everyone?

Would think the gauntlet might be helpful for Thera, she hits things a lot! But if she doesn't want it then no worries.

Gauntlet means I end up doing less damage than I would normally, since it doesn't add my unarmed strike damage or anything. Could also possibly be considered some form of armor which isn't really a good idea for a Sacred Fist to use. Either way, there is no reason for me to use it at all really.


It looks like you can use the bow and the spiked gauntlet. It would provoke the squares around you.

It is just a +1 spiked gauntlet. It is a scroll of unholy blight.

With the scroll of protection from technology in her hands, Solaria opens the door and looks into the room again, holding the door open for Linpul and the Dr to enter. "Thera, Sarainy be ready for anything that might stop our friends in their task." She scours the room once more for any threats.

She reminds Linpul, "There is plenty of techno equipment in this place, you won't miss the panels, really." in a quiet voice as she passes into the chamber.

Linpul, Solaria and Lendaro enter the room with the twin robots and the panel and the humming machines in the center of the room. As they approach the black panel, the robots twitch to alertness and stare at the three intruders.

rakdon was following along or finally caught up to them. engineering: 10 + 1d20 ⇒ 10 + (18) = 28 to figure out the programming of these robots so I can figure out how to tell them we mean no harm and that we are just doing our job.

Sorry for the absence, I was whisked away for my 26th birthday yesterday.


The robots do not seem to move based on your (Sarainy and Linpul's) words. Rakdon examines the robots to find some kind of command protocol, but doesn't find anything with an examination of the bots. The nature of their composite forms seems to be an almost random stitching of electronic parts.

Lendaro (and Linpul) work on disabling the monitor screen. The robots don't do anything but stare at you.
