This may be a bit of an ass thing to do, but if nobody wants the technological items, then I'm going to hog some of them rather than sell them.

I'm gonna grab the

inferno grenade
plasma grenade
zero grenade
concussion grenade (3)
cylex (3)
cureall

in addition to the previously mentioned

inhibitor facet
EMP pistol (9)

If somebody objects, I won't do it, but I'm inclined to think that AoE damage and neutralize poison are going to find use somewhere down the line.

Please attach them to a vest and wear it on your body all the time, but always stay at least 40 feet away from me :D

Or when we approach enemies run into their midst while i threaten them: surrender or i blow her up!

Female Human

You keeping them is okay with me. They will be useful with the grenade launcher.

I am quite ok with Astra claiming those items. If they are usable by her, then have at it.

Can you do the boots then? Not yet, actually, need to see how much gp I end up with after we sell other stuff.

I will certainly understand if Ibuki is cross with Chakos, and thus unwilling to make the boots, just let me know.

Still waiting for a final tally to figure out what I want to get beyond the adamantine +1 greataxe though.

I also need a name for the greataxe.

My PFS Ranger Half Orc carries a couple "big whackie things" he has a "masterwork cold iron big whackie thing" and an "adamantine big whackie thing." Not sure why he calls the first MW, and not the second, but that is how CMIX describes them in character. He's a switch hitter Ranger, so usually the plan isn't to be whacking things anyways.

Enough of my prattle!

"whackie thing" I love it

Female Human (Kellid) Bard (Archaeologist) 7 (HP 47/47 | AC 20 | Fort +2 Ref +5 Will +5 | Initiative +0 | Perception +13)

All right, here we go.

1600gp Freddert
2500gp Nonmagic/nontech
3120gp Magic
4250gp Tech
----------------------
11470gp FINAL TOTAL

So including the previous disbursements, that's the amount you should have received in total. That last batch of tech items would have been 4250gp.

Ok, so Ibuki:

Boots of the Earth - 2500gp

Astra - the axe to +1 - 1000gp

Axe to Vicious - 3000gp

Armor to +2 - 2000gp

That all good?

Female Human (Kellid) Bard (Archaeologist) 7 (HP 47/47 | AC 20 | Fort +2 Ref +5 Will +5 | Initiative +0 | Perception +13)

+1 vicious axe and +2 armor are good.

GM, do you have any opinion on the Leadership feat? Would you allow a cohort, or would it be too cumbersome and/or unbalancing?

Leadership is fine. You may choose make Val Baine's character if you want.

Female Human (Kellid) Bard (Archaeologist) 7 (HP 47/47 | AC 20 | Fort +2 Ref +5 Will +5 | Initiative +0 | Perception +13)

What about Dinvaya Lanalei? *evil grin* >:D

If you can come up with a reason why she would follow you (both as your subordinate and go with you on a journey) you can have her as a cohort. Of course, she will probably have a 65% chance of following your instructions.

Female Human (Kellid) Bard (Archaeologist) 7 (HP 47/47 | AC 20 | Fort +2 Ref +5 Will +5 | Initiative +0 | Perception +13)

*cackles* That's the fun part.

Now the tough part is just deciding whether I want Leadership or another feat...man, feat decisions are the toughest parts of leveling.

Well Ibuki just spend a lot of time with Dinvaya Lanalei, consorting about things...of not only magical nature.

Curious what would be your other option than leadership?

Female Human (Kellid) Bard (Archaeologist) 7 (HP 47/47 | AC 20 | Fort +2 Ref +5 Will +5 | Initiative +0 | Perception +13)

I'm considering Additional Traits to pick up "Int instead of Cha" for Diplomacy or UMD. And then there's various item creation feats, both magical and technological.

Female Human (Kellid) Bard (Archaeologist) 7 (HP 47/47 | AC 20 | Fort +2 Ref +5 Will +5 | Initiative +0 | Perception +13)

I decided to snag from the mundane items the silver holy symbol of Hellion as a memento. No need to adjust your gold, it's small enough amount to be covered by rounding.

Testing out a hasted smiting power attack round vs an evil robot with my new axe!

MW Greataxe: 1d20 + 9 + 4 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 4 - 2 + 1 = 18
MW Greataxe Damage: 1d12 + 4 + 2d6 + 4 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + (6, 4) + 4 + 6 + 1 = 36
Backbite: 1d6 ⇒ 6 DMG to me

MW Greataxe: 1d20 + 9 + 4 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 4 - 2 + 1 = 18
MW Greataxe Damage: 1d12 + 4 + 2d6 + 4 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + (1, 1) + 4 + 6 + 1 = 19
Backbite: 1d6 ⇒ 2 DMG to me

MW Greataxe: 1d20 + 9 + 4 - 2 + 1 - 5 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 4 - 2 + 1 - 5 = 19
MW Greataxe Damage: 1d12 + 4 + 2d6 + 4 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + (1, 1) + 4 + 6 + 1 = 28

That would be 83 damage to an AC of 18 or below, and 9 DMG to me!

Whenever we get back to adventuring, I now have three Life Links. My SOP will be to have them on Astra, Liz, and Uriah. Sure, sure, I don't really know Uriah yet, but by the time we get into our first fight, I expect to, and if not, then the third one would be on Ibuki.

Of note, at this level I took the half elf favored class bonus of +1/2 level to a revelation, applied to the Life Link Revelation. When I do this again at 8th level, I will be Oracle 4 / Paladin 4, but have 5 Life Links, so I can cover the whole party at once. I'll also have 2nd level Oracle spells.

I believe Chakos is fully updated now, and ready to do whatever is demanded of him.

Let's just hope fate doesn't demand that he die in a blaze of glory

Uriah Lewis wrote:
and how does Chakos heal so well? That's amazing.

Chakos is built to do exactly this.

  • As a 4th level Paladin, his LOH heals for 2d6.
  • 4 levels of the elf alternate favored class bonus at 1/2 hp each, gives him an extra +2HP to each LOH.
  • As Chakos does not currently have the Fatigued condition, Greater Mercy gives him an extra 1d6 on his LOH.
  • As Chakos is a Fey Foundling, he gets an extra 2HP of healing for each die of healing he receives, so 6 in this case.

Thus, the grand total when healing himself and not using a Mercy is 3d6+2+6, or ~18hp on average.

I'd heard of Fey Foundling, so what Chakos was raised by nymphs or something? I'd not ever seen the Favored Class bonus though.

Yeah it´s really nice when a character works out to do what he was build for, isn´t it? :D

I don't believe in having a "build" that seems like a very MMO thing to do. I believe in having a concept that seems cool, and damn the numbers because those don't matter.

Several races have the +1/2hp per level on the LOH, but check out the tiefling, for them it's a full +1!

I went with half elf though, because the ability to have two favored classes was going to be important, as the +1/2 level for the effects of one Revelation was going to matter to get the extra Life Link I was going to need.

As my character might demonstrate (low-Cha bard, what a stupid thing to do right there), I'm a believer in the same philosophy, but at the same time, those who *do* do "builds" allow those of us less versed to survive so that we can enjoy our own characters. :D

I can't even count the amount of TPKs we would have had without Chakos. :D

Since I've been playing the game longer than MMOs have been on the scene, I can claim to NOT be influenced by them in doing so.

Different strokes for different folks. Some may be jerks and some may be jiffies, but in the end we all cum to play.

I bow to Sylvara^^ Not 100% sure what jiffies are though.

Besides, for me rpg is at it´s best when numbers and concepts meet.
Build therefore is the mechanical rules executation of the imagend character concept.

My character concept is an Oradin, the Oracle Paladin healing machine that can still dish out damage. I've seen it tried in one other game, but we are currently at twice the level of that game, so I'm testing new ground already.

Init +4 | HP 33/33 | AC 14 | S-1/D+6/C+1/I+2/W+0/C+7 | Perc +5 | Insp: [ ] Consumables

Is that your character concept or is that the "build" because in my head those are totally different things.

Chicken, Egg, whichever.

An effective combatant that can, more or less, passively keep the group healed was the goal.

It was also a desire to have a character that was a bit of a technophobe in the technology AP. Not to be difficult or anything, but because such would exist, and because I didn't want to have to buy three more resources.

I play some big personality characters in other games, so Chakos is a much more subdued character, which has been great with Liz and Astra around to shine with their geek explanations for everything. Astra has had some phenomenally awesome descriptions of the whys and the wherefors on things we've encountered, some of which Chakos willfully ignores, and some he takes to heart.

Female Elf Fighter (Archer) 7 | HP 57/57 | AC 20 T 13 FF 17 | Ft +7 Rf +6 Wi +2* | Init +6 | Perc +13 l CMD 23

Not to say that Chakos isn't without weaknesses. Touch AC, lower BAB, moving in heavy armor. Think of the acrobatics checks, think of them! He also can't cure what doesn't do damage (poison, curses, etc). So he really isn't OP, just specialized... like me!
