Kazador The Clanless |

Yup pure flavor

Captain Brolin Muse |

untrained spellcraft: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Muse watches the deadly vapors scythe through Halak's orcs, watches them drop dead without a word. Watches as Turion is enveloped, as the elf lurches to safety.
Protected by his wizardry?
"Ugh...a cloudkill spell. Don't linger in the area - I'll try and get rid of it."
Don't linger? Don't freaking linger?!
Unable to combat the spell, Muse makes tracks for where Turion is standing. Turion seems calm enough, this is probably a safe distance.
The shaman's aptly named cloudkill rushes towards them as Turion flips through his spellbook. Is he going to dispel it? Can he? Brolin's never seen Turion cast something so terrifying, not even his grasping tentacles snuff out lives with such cold efficiency.
"Omit, Turion's good, but that spell -"
"Might prove beyond him, yes. Cloudkill is fifth circle, on the level of teleport and -"
But Muse realizes somethingthat might save their lives.. "It clings to the ground; heavier than air! Don't risk dispel magic, use create pit!"

Túrion Alagostor |

"I am not certain that would work, Brolin.", the Elf replied as he frantically tried to retrieve the spell he needed from book and memory, then inquires absent-mindedly: "Admittedly, my knowledge of that spell is largely theoretical, so if one of your friends suggested it works based on experience...?"

Brookside GM |

So no action besides moving for Brolin this round?
Interesting idea on the cloudkill. I think I would just let half of the vapors be trapped in the pit so I would lower the DC by 3 and have the rest of the cloud keep moving. Realistically, a chunk of gas will be diffusing all over the place so this intermediate option makes the most sense to me.

Captain Brolin Muse |

“Just eyeballing it, I don’t think you could drain the cloud.”
“My bad. Don’t let me distract you.”
Muse turns invisible and ends turn.

Brookside GM |

Dam Fyrtor: 2d4 + 6 + 2 + 2d6 + 4 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2) + 6 + 2 + (5, 5) + 4 + 6 + 6 = 39
With one miss but then two mighty blows, Kazador manages to bring down the most senior-looking of the orcs. Algric and Kelian lash out at the orcs and seriously wound one more of them.
The two remaining orcs recover their senses after the initial surprise and, seeing Fyrtor as the only one they can all three reach, lash out at him, trying to thin their enemies' ability to fight. Fyrtor is attacked with and manages to dodge all but one very well-placed blow (nat 20, not confirmed).
13 damage to Fyrtor. No big deal.
The orcish sorcerer's cloud continues rolling down the hallway. The sorcerer decides to further plug up the entrance for any attackers and conjures another cloud there, this one stationary.
Yellow cloud marked on the map. Roll a fort save if you enter it.
Party, GO!

Mel Elden |

Point of order: Sorcerer cast a spell, triggering Mel's readied action. If she hit him he needs to make a concentration check to keep the spell.

Kazador The Clanless |

Hit Injured Orc if possible: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31
Damage with acid: 2d6 + 1d6 + 20 ⇒ (4, 4) + (6) + 20 = 34
Haste Hit, move on to the other if the first is dead: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35

Hit: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
Damage with acid: 2d6 + 1d6 + 20 ⇒ (4, 4) + (6) + 20 = 34
”Fyrtor, make way.” Kazador growled. Two orcs left. If the Druidic warrior stepped but five feet away, Kazador was certain he could handle both of the foes. He now had room to swing, and he had more than a little anger to work out.
Holding off on Algric to see if any orcs are left

Brookside GM |

Ah yes, Mel. You did hit the caster. Roll damage.
Concentration check: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
:P So if you deal even 6 damage the stinking cloud is broken. But the shaman is now aware there's a hidden archer somewhere in the very vague direction from which he was hit.

Mel Elden |

Ugh, sorry, I thought I did roll damage; but it looks like I forgot.
Damage: 2d6 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (6, 3) + 7 + (6) = 22 nonlethal
Keenly aware that her presence is now known -- if not her exact whereabouts -- and having observed the shaman casting not one but two spells covering large areas, Mel decides that remaining in place is unwise, even at the cost of letting the shaman cast another spell.
She flexes her left wrist, and the potion stored in her wrist sheathe slides into her palm. Toivottavasti tämä juttu toimii, she thinks, and slugs it back.
Taking a breath, she bounces on her toes a bit and pushes off, gently arcing into the air, passing over the confused melee below.
No one can see her just now; but if they could, they would see a smile broadening her face. Even in the midst of a fight -- to fly is a marvelous thing.
Swift action to pop out her Potion of Fly, standard to drink it, move for position. She's currently 15 feet up and just over from the shaman. Here's a fresh stealth roll.
Stealth: 1d20 + 24 + 20 ⇒ (11) + 24 + 20 = 55

Fyrtor Smithson |

With his guard up Fyrtor steps back over the body of the captain that Kazador laid low. As he does so he lashes out again at the orc he attacked first. But his strikes are clumsy, only the feels right at all.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 14 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 2 + (6) = 17
Attack 2: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 16

Damage: 1d6 + 6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 2 + (2) = 15

Kelian_Falchen |

Also would like a status update -- has the middle orc that Algric, Kelian and Fyrtor have all been stabbing fallen yet?

Brookside GM |

Fyrtor brings down another orc, there is only one remaining in the tower!

Algric_Graniteson |

Hit: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + (2, 6) + 4 = 15
Self Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
No longer pinned against the wall, Algric attacked the last orc with his axe, completely uncaring of any harm it would cause him.

Túrion Alagostor |

Oh, apologies, I missed the Party Go!
The moment the spell locks into Túrions mind, he starts gathering Arcane Energy.
The underlaying weave was...weak, in a effective yet simple pattern. Undoing it would be as easy as tugging on a strand...with a gesture and some words, the Elven mage severs the Clouds connection to reality, causing it to dissipate almost instantly. With a slightly smug grin, he comments: "It is undone."
Caster Level Check - Targetted Dispel: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Active Effects:
Haste (+1 attack/full attack, +1 to hit, +1 AC(dodge), +1 Reflex Save, +30 feet speed(max double regular) - Round 3/10
Improved Invisibility(various effects) on Mel - Round 2/10

Brookside GM |

Turion is indeed correct this isn't a 20th level caster.
The cloud unweaves itself rapidly, the toxic fumes zipping back out of existence as quickly as they came.
Brolin and Kelian yet to go.

Kelian_Falchen |

As Fyrtor withdraws his bloody blade and the orc archer collapses to the floor, Kelian steps into his place -- almost before he hits the ground even -- affording both Algric and himself room to swing at the one remaining orc.
Masterwork longsword, +11, 19-20/×2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

Fyrtor Smithson |

"Quickly! Let's finish this so that I can cast my spells safely and the fight can be ended."

Captain Brolin Muse |

I took the liberty of removing the yellow cloudkill (which was disrupted) and the green cloudkill (which was dispelled) from the map.
Turion clears the path forward. Well now I feel silly for doubting him.
"I should get in there," Muse's disembodied voice tells the party wizard where he's off to. "Take care of yourself."
Doublemoving 120 feet, jumping over the caltrops, ending turn (invisibly) on the far side of the pillar from the shaman.
Stealth to avoid notice, invisible, moving, armored: 1d20 + 5 + 20 - 5 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 20 - 5 - 1 = 35

Brookside GM |

Kelian lands two solid blows on the remaining orc but doesn't put him down, leaving the orcs in the tower nearly finished while Turion gets rid of the cloudkill spell.
Attacks Kelian: 2d20 ⇒ (2, 19) = 21
Confirm: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Dam: 2d4 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1) + 6 + 2 = 12
Dam: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2, 2, 2) + 4 = 11
The orc lashes back at Turion, landing one blow (12 dam) but failing the other. He snarls at his opponents with his back to the corner.
The orcish mage, seeing his spell disappear, casts a spell on himself and lifts off the ground, seeking a target. Kazador draws his attention and a spell strikes hard into the dwarf who draws his attention (11 dam).
Mage now 20 ft off the ground. Party GO!

Túrion Alagostor |

Considering positioning, I'll assume that was someone in the tower, not Túrion.
The elven mage suddenly vanishes, and moments after, an invisible hand seems to lead Nelly to a new position she is supposed to hold.
Improved Invisbility+move - did not want to spend a second one, but with the HP situation anything else would be reckless.
Active Effects:
Haste (+1 attack/full attack, +1 to hit, +1 AC(dodge), +1 Reflex Save, +30 feet speed(max double regular) - Round 4/10
Improved Invisibility(various effects) on Mel - Round 3/10
Improved Invisibility(various effects) on Túrion - Round 1/10

Kazador The Clanless |

The orc now has his attention to! Ignoring the last orc in the tower, Kazador walked to the window and glared at the flying orc. He trusted his companions to finish clearing the tower. He spoke but one word.
ᚠᛚᛁᚷᚺᛏ
Next round the orc shaman is going to learn that he isn’t safe in the air.

Algric_Graniteson |

Algric, though, was far less calm.
Hit: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

Damage: 1d8 + 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + (1, 1) + 4 = 10
Self Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Fyrtor Smithson |

After cursing under his breath Fyrtor says, "Kelin, Algric, keep that one busy, I'll try to keep the shaman busy."
After a few moments spent looking for a weakness he crys out, "Sarenrae se lig blinde die goddelose!" Then there is a flash around the shaman.
Move action to study that shaman, standard to cast Burst of Radience centered on shaman

DC18 Reflex to avoid blindness for: 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds. (the DC is 16 or anyone else caught in the 10ft burst)
-2 to AC until next round because of using buckler arm

Mel Elden |

Mel floats over the mass of battling orcs, circling the shaman. She nocks an arrow and waits for him to cast another spell.
Stealth: 1d20 + 24 + 20 ⇒ (16) + 24 + 20 = 60
Attack bonus is 6 BAB + 4 DEX + 1 weapon focus + 1 enhancement bonus + 1 haste + 1 point blank shot + 2 invisible - 2 Deadly Aim = +14.

Sniping stealth check: 1d20 + 24 + 20 - 5 ⇒ (9) + 24 + 20 - 5 = 48

Kelian_Falchen |

Kelian steps into the space Fyrtor opened, pressing a hand against his chest as he does so. His wounds dwindle, easing under his touch.
Then he raises his sword and sets to work determinedly on the one remaining orc.
Five-foot step into Fyrtor's old spot.
Masterwork longsword, +11, 19-20/×2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22

Masterwork longsword, +11, 19-20/×2 (haste): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Not bothering to roll damage for that one.
Masterwork longsword, +6, 19-20/×2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Crit confirmation roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Masterwork longsword damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11x2 if confirmed

Brookside GM |

Not sure what you're envisioning/planning Kazador just know that the "windows" of the tower are more like arrow slits. They grant you improved cover while firing or shooting spells from them.
Kelian hacks into the orc and leaves it severely wounded but not dead.
Sorcerer reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Fyrtor's spell wounds the mage but he dodges the worst of it and is not blinded.
Brolin still to go by my count.

Kazador The Clanless |

Retcon, Kazador doesn’t do that. Instead he attacks the orc, and if it dies Algric will move to an arrow slit
Hit: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (19) + 19 = 38
Damage: 2d6 + 1d6 + 20 ⇒ (3, 3) + (6) + 20 = 32

Brookside GM |

With a mighty swing of his hammer, Kazador finishes off the last orc in the tower. Only the mage remains a problem, his spells very deadly for harrying Halak's forces.

Captain Brolin Muse |

Muse will drop what he's holding, draw his shortbow while moving, and then ready an attack as his standard.

Brookside GM |

Conc: 2d20 ⇒ (11, 3) = 14
Dam: 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 4, 2) + 5 = 17
The flying orc begins casting a spell but Brolin and Mel immediately interrupt him (rudely) with arrows! He curses heavily in orcish as the spell falters. Then he snaps his fingers rapidly and the bolts of force streak back into Kazador. It seems this orc has a vendetta for the foe that he can see!
17 damage to Kazador from magic missile. Party, GO!
Halak's orcs rush forward, beginning to overpower their enemies, who are surprised by the sudden overwhelming of their tower forces and the odd assault on their spellcaster.

Algric_Graniteson |

Algric, now at a window, began peppering the shaman with arrows.

Kazador The Clanless |

Dispel Magic fly: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Think that works?
Grunting in annoyance, Kazador raised his hammer and pointed it at the shaman, expanding that the offending magic be dispelled.

Mel Elden |

Mel repositions herself once more and nocks another arrow for the shaman.

Sniping stealth: 1d20 + 24 + 20 - 5 ⇒ (11) + 24 + 20 - 5 = 50

Kelian_Falchen |

Kelian moves to the stairs in the turret and makes his way downstair. He unbars the door and opens it, looking out into the field.
That's probably a full-round action. Also, I think Brolin had regular invisibility instead of improved, so he's probably visible now.

Fyrtor Smithson |

Fyrtor moves to the arrow slit next to Algric, drawing his bow as he goes. Once he gets next to the slit he sets his sword against the wall. Drop as free action' but flavored differently. Then he takes aim at the shaman and lets the shaft fly.
Attack: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 12 + 2 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 2 = 8

Brookside GM |

Turion has infected us by calling it "improved" invisibility. It's greater. XD
Kazador tries to end the spell but fails.
DC 11+CL
Algric and Fyrtor land a few well-placed arrows on the flying orc.
Turion and Brolin still to go.

Captain Brolin Muse |

Muse will ready an action to shoot if the shaman casts.
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Túrion Alagostor |

Apologies, the improved is a hold-over from 3.5 days...I'll fix it to Greater.
Túrion for a moment considers the possibility of the Shaman having Shield up and running - which would make Magic Missiles useless. Weighing his other options, he decides to make things a bit more difficult for the Shaman, and attempt to cut off the Orcs escape.
With a quick incantation and some invisible gestures, strands of webbing shoot forth from a point near the corner of the wall, blocking the passage going towards the Vaults, and attempting to snare both the Shaman and some nearby Orcs.
His spell effect manifesting, he indicates to Nelly to hold her position, then moves a few steps forward, to vacate his previous position in case some Orcs with acute hearing decided to fire arrows where they suspected him.
Casting Web, 10 feet up at the indicated spot - can't place full effect properly. It should connect to the tower, the bottom and include the Shaman. Using Potent Spells to increase DC by 2, and Focused Spell to increase DC for the Shaman by 2.
Reflex DC 20 for other, DC 22 for Shaman. Grappled on Fail(Casting Spells while Grappled/Grappling: The only spells which can be cast while grappling or pinned are those without somatic components and whose material components (if any) you have in hand.)+concentration.
Origin of effect is moved back and down a bit so that arrow barrage of the Shaman is still possible.
Active Effects:
Haste (+1 attack/full attack, +1 to hit, +1 AC(dodge), +1 Reflex Save, +30 feet speed(max double regular) - Round 5/10
Improved Invisibility(various effects) on Mel - Round 4/10
Improved Invisibility(various effects) on Túrion - Round 2/10
Web - effectively until dismissed/destroyed.

DC 20 fly check: 1d20 + 3 - 5 ⇒ (12) + 3 - 5 = 10
It turns out that dwarves were not meant for flight. Magic was an amazing thing, but even the most potent of runic craft could not take a burly dwarf in full plate and make it a bird. Still, it was faster than walking.
