I made a hinting joke about it in the recruitment thread, but I actually do want to ask-

I up'd my guys Charisma to 18 on the point buy and used the human bonus points of 2 to make it 20.

I figured this would be alright, since it specializes *and* I'd say, almost negatively, affects my character. But, being a Charisma based guy, I wasn't sure if you wanted the real values cap'd at 18, or if 18 point buy plus the 2 being a human gives me would be alright xD

I would kind of prefer peoples stats to not go above peak level conditions, if that is okay with the rest of you.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, for those of you who celebrate it. Now that craziness has died down we can get back to setting up. I just recieved word from my other player and she should have her character up tonight.

The game will begin soon. Thanks for your patience.

I want everyone to know that sometimes Nodin has to take narcotics for a sinus infection that became so bad he coughed 2x in the morning and pulled his right oblique.

This means that sometimes you will just happen across your Charismatic Hero who needs to tug one out mid-zombie apocalypse, because he had to make a blank stealth check to get away with it and, well, he rolled a natty 1 on that particular day.

On that day I want you to know this happy go lucky bearded hero is going to shoot you a wink, a grin, and keep on "tugging."

Hey Nodin if your tired of waiting on GM Mcslow, You could prolly just write how you took the photos and headed over. Then you could at least dialogue with me and Leo. I believe the GM is waiting for that last person to put up their character. Then I think things will get more interesting.... Or this will just be a party simulation game. Zombies be damned!

The Exchange

Male Human Charismatic Hero/ 3

Lol party simulation game- reminds me of that stupid and evil little girl holding the balloon in Fallout 3 when you try to free your father xD

Male Human Fast hero lvl 3

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, now that there is unearned hatred within the party.

The Exchange

God I can't wait xD

People normally hate me for about the first week they meet me, cause I hate strangers automatically *and so, then, does Nodin*

BUT- after a crisis- or when I develop friends and become loyal-

You'll never have a better one <3 <3 <3

LET'S DO THIS

Anyone else itching to play a classic style Resident Evil? I wanna play R.E remake but can't wait to see R.E 2 remake.

Male Human Fast hero lvl 3

The GM should have said this sooner but... He should of told you guys the game is on a short break till we get a fourth. We should have it worked out within the week. Sorry for the wait. Hope you will remain interested.

Yes. Sorry for the unfortunate delay folks. I had been delaying longer than intended for one of several people to join as a fourth player. It will happen soon, one way or another and we will start next week.

I might know someone who would play if you are interested LNDM but not sure how many you are looking to have.

Actually that would be great if you could get us one more. I'm looking for at least 4, which is largely why I was stalling, but am willing to go up to 5.

Hey Gm, you might wanna pm Nodin to let him know the game is back on.

*Lucien Lachance voice* "I live..... again...."

Wow, I am sorry to hear that Leo. Don't worry, I'll bot as required.

Is this game still happening?

Well I did ask Thomas for a spot check before the holiday madness. I guess I got caught up waiting for that. But now that is over, I'll put this question to all the players.

Would people prefer that I roll various reaction rolls: perception based, knowledge, initiative, Sense motive and the like?

On the one hand it would make things flow a bit better for story purposes. However I do understand the desire to be in full control of your character as well.

I'm good with you rolling passive checks

Personally I prefer making my own rolls. However, if a roll is asked for and it's not posted in 24 hours, then I say go ahead and roll for us.

Meanwhile, I'm somewhat confused because the bulk of the players are stuck at the party with your character (even though some of them tried to leave the party to go with Thomas; but they were prevented from leaving, unfortunately). If players are forced to stay at the party then it seems to me that they could at least do some Social RP with the others, but so far, that isn't really happening.

Anyhow, I'm eager to see this move forward and get back to the game and I hope that happens soon!

Or railroad us to sleep and let the real plot begin ^.^ <3

Okay, thanks for the prompt feedback. I'll let the players have a 24 hour window of rolling for themselves then GM-bot to move things along.

As for the group stuck at the party, I am sorry about that. I was trying to go for a more slow build to what's been happening and thought that the characters were interacting with each other in a fitting manner.

As a note, when Thomas left, I did have Patrick say " You might be able to catch him if you go now." Looking back, I probably should have added an ooc note to say that if you wanted to go with him that was okay.

I will pick things up now. This party's about to get pretty crazy!

Party goers
Roll a perception check!!

Now that things are picking up, I'll be sure to check in more often <3

Ah! I was *wondering* if we got the +3 for class or not xD

I'll take them all of later, and will remember for now to minus them from my checks xD My bad!

Quick Follow-up Question on Stats:

While we have a 20 Point Buy for our build; I have Three quick follow-up questions on the build -

1. As Humans, do we gain the standard "Human Characteristic" starting package (that is; the bonus feat; +1 Skill Point per level; any class can be considered "Favored" and a +2 to one stat of our choice AFTER the 20 Point Buy was spent?)

2. Our we using the normal/modern Point Buy Cost? Back when d20 Modern came out the "cost" was slightly different; a "14" costs "4 Points" not "5 Points" back in the day... Not sure if we're using the modern cost to buy stats or the old system?

3. Did we still get "Traits" and if so; how many?

Okay - depending on these answers my build may be slightly adjusted. As it stands I built my guy with the assumption that I'd gain a +2 to One Stat after the points were distributed. If that's incorrect, I need to know now as it will certainly effect my build and I'd like to know before it gets too far along...

Thanks for the information!

PS: Any chance of being able to find a pic or what people look like in the game so I have an idea of who I'm talking to? For convenience sake I put a pic of my guy up as well as a "theme song" to sort of capture his personality (though the song may change in time).

And of course; everyone's free to read over anything on my sheet if you're interested or curious :)

1.Yes you get the +2 after stats are picked.

2. I'd actually forgotten about the slightly adjusted point buy system from back then. Um, I think we're going to stick with the newer point buy build system.

3. Sure traits are cool and add a little more variety to who people are. Lets say everyone gets 2 traits.

4. I can certainly make profiles on Paizo with what I find to be the closest match of a picture, with a link to who would be "playing" them. If you think that will help.

Going to be at work today from 8-4 p.m. Then my girlfriend is getting back today around 5:30. Don't expect an update until tomorrow, most likely.

I did NOT think I was going to have to roll diplomacy so fast xD

Male Human Dedicated: 2 Fast: 1 - Fort: 3, Ref: 3, Will: 3, AC: 17, HP: 18/18 Spot: 7, Listen: 3, Search: 2

So here's some quick favors I'm asking regarding skills:

1. Are we able to condense the following skills as Pathfinder did:

Jump/Tumble - Acrobatics
Listen/Spot/Search - Perception
Hide/Move Silently = Stealth
Gather Information/Diplomacy - Diplomacy

I ask because, unlike a normal Pathfinder game, in this one I had to invest so many points in Knowledge Skills that I know I won't need, just to even be equitable to a High School Diploma (seriously; who takes Philosophy/Religion in a Zombie Game; but who gets through even High School, never mind college, without having at least learned something of the major world religions, not to mention knowing something about Plato, Socrates, Marcus Aeurelius, Rumi or basic precepts such as Zen)?

2. Any way we could edit skill points to negate the x4 bonus on level 1 and just allow for a Class Proficiency just granting the standard +3 Bonus?

I'm not asking to adjust this encounter as we're currently in the middle of it, but if it's allowed I'd really love to just go back and tweak my skills accordingly, especially when Traits are chosen.

Is that allowable? If so, please let me know.

Thanks!

Gather information in this game SHOULD be different- just based on the fact that we actually have technology to do research with.

But, at the end of the day, meh. xD Killing that skill will let me take a new one or two anyways hahahaha

Why did you put points in a knowledge skill you don't need? your class make you do it or something?

Nodin Caesar McKinney wrote:

Well, to be honest, I was just trying to stay true to myself as the characters are supposed to be "us" in a way.

So like, for example, in real life I have published a novel; been published in online video game magazines; been a paid journalist for various local newspapers... Honestly, I felt that I couldn't in good conscience avoid taking a rank in Craft: Writing because you can't do Craft Skills untrained and I've done what I've done in real life.

Meantime, the fact that I've been published doesn't (or least, I don't think it should) diminish my training with fencing and kendo. It shouldn't lower my options for various skills, simply because I have a limited set of skill points. But (unfortunately) that's how the game is set up in the Future Version. There are so many "Knowledge Skills" that probably all of us would have that we wouldn't have in a Fantasy setting.

For example, to me it's inconceivable to me that anyone who takes ranks in a Language in the Modern Setting should also have to waste points "buying" literacy; it should be automatic. In today's time most of how we learn a new language is reading through textbooks as we study the information. I mean, it's not like we're illiterate barbarians who pick up a the Elven tongue when we trade food for furs with the Elven tribes and don't have time to read and study ancient scrolls.

Now, to be fair, I could have said - "Well, I don't really need to invest points in skills that aren't really necessary because you can always make any Knowledge Check so long as the DC is 10 + your Intelligence Modifier (in my case a total of 12); but that just didn't seem kosher somehow.

Anyway, sorry for the lengthy response; but yeah, that's why I took all those skills. I know they'll be useless to us in the game (mostly) but it's who I am (and also why I'm hoping to adjust how skill points work somewhat; to reflect the options a bit).

That said; I need to respond to the campaign page and then take a nap - I've been at work since before 6:00 AM and I just got home about 20 minutes ago and I'm beat.

I should be on later tonight, though :)

That's a fair point, you know what, let's go ahead and condense the skills like Pathfinder did. It's a little easier to keep track of and I do actually prefer it that way.

Sorry about the late change guys, this will require you to rework your skills a bit. No more x4 from first level.

However, on the point of taking skills and putting ranks in things that would make sense for your character growing up in a modern age, I think I'm also going to borrow the background class skills from Pathfinder and let the 2 points per character level. This will help offset the huge amount of skill points you're losing by the skill switch over, while still allowing you to have done extra things for hobbies in your spare time.

so the max skill ranks is 2 points per character level?

That should put my diplomacy at 6+3+4 = 13 woohoo! I don't have to change my roll I made before doing this! I'll edit my character in a bit <3

@John I hear you man, look at MY skills. Sure I've got gather information and diplomacy, but jesus f#%#, when combat comes around? I die.

Well, I guess that'll be somewhat fixed when I adjust everything.

Hey DM, I'm going to rework my class, though I'll still be a Charismatic hero- mind if I message you about any class substitutions I might have to make for traits, like if they give a bonus to "gather information" for a class trait then I could change it to a different charisma based skill, like intimidate or diplomacy?

That probably sounds really confusing xD

Damn it, I lied, diplomacy went from +13 to +16, woohoo!

wait, so now I'm confused...

I thought we still had a maximum of 1 skill point per level, but we got an additional 2 points per level to distribute between skills.

So our maximum Skill Rank on level 3 should be 3.

Then we add a +3 if we're proficient in the skill.

Then we add our Appropriate Stat Modifier for the skill (in your case a +4 for Charisma; so far netting out a 10).

Then we add any Misc. Modifiers for Feats or Traits of Special Abilities.

Raising the threshold of how many ranks we can have per level doesn't do much if we don't have skill points to spend. I thought the GM was granting us an extra 2 skill points per level, but our total "Rank" is still equal to the level...

Please let me know if I'm missing something, as this will likely effect my stat breakdown when I get home from work tonight.

Thanks!

Okay.

Anyhow, I was just trying to help out; not to mention make sure I was understanding the rules is all.

For now I guess there's nothing else to do except wait for the GM's ruling; not to mention his reaction to what's going on the main board.

I didn't mean it like that, just, you know, me talking seemed to = me making things more confused LOL
