Focusing his will power, he tries to force his body to do more.

Buffs-Debuffs:

Isu snarls in anger. Ever since coming on this ship, he has been inaccurate, and barely a help to his friends. He decides to screw accuracy and swing til he's exhausted.

The blue monk dodges Isu's first and second swings, but is too slow for the last devastating strike. The two halves of his body fly through the air collapsing in on themselves. That leaves Ted and Spec free to fire upon yellow, who suffers a series of direct hits that leave him smoldering and shaking.

Meanwhile, Jelico easily shakes off the gravitic hold red managed to put on him.

Combat Over!

As the gallery falls silent, the words of the final monk echo in your heads. Reinforcements are coming - and if you mean to succeed against the Commander and seize the ship, you're going to have to be quick.

Looking around the room, you once again notice the four large display cases made of a clear material. Each case contains a different item under a harsh white spotlight: a red-and-gold spear, a humanoid skull and spine, a desiccated severed hand with a gem embedded in the palm, and a spacesuit helmet with swirling red mist within it and blood spattered on the inside of the visor. It looks like you could open any of the display cases without much difficulty (DC30 Engineering), or you could leave them alone.

If you open the cases and examine any of the items, you can make a skill check to identify what it does. It would take 1 round for each item to do this. The spear requires Engineering, the skull and spine Mysticism, the helmet and mist Mysticism or Engineering, and the hand and gem Mysticism. Culture can also get you some additional info about the spear, even without opening the case to inspect it.

You unlock all the cases, Ted taking a bit of extra time to break open the lock on two of them. You carefully remove each treasure and study them for a few moments to determine their function...

The Spear:
This is the Spear of Fates, a unique weapon that appears to be of Pact Worlds origin. It is a golden spear with a ruby blade that functions both as an inferno flame doshko and a white star plasma caster (It takes a swift action to switch between modes). It holds one ultra-capacity battery, which powers all uses of the weapon.

The Skull and Spine:
As you handle the skull, the spine begins moving on its own! You realize that this "spine" is actually a 24-inch long metallic centipede covered in mystic runes. The Runeworm wriggles in your grip and pulses with magical potential.

When it is placed near your ear (or a similar orifice), it animates and enters your body. Once inside you, the runeworm intertwines with your internal anatomy and releases an arcane virus that rewrites and improves some part of your body’s function. It functions as a mk 2 synergizing symbiote, which is able to increase an ability score by 4. However, it is so advanced that it can instead upgrade any mk 2 personal upgrade already in your system to a mk 3 personal upgrade, increasing the ability score bonus from +4 to +6.

The Helmet:
Although the helmet seems quite ordinary, when you open the visor and reach inside you pull out a pair of pale sapphire gems. The bloody mist clings persistently to these Eyes of Rhean.

When you hold one of the eyes in one hand, you can control the other as a spy drone that can’t be upgraded. You see what the flying eye sees through the eye you hold. However, if you place the gems over your own eyes, they burrow into your skull and replace two of your eyes (destroying the optic nerves of any additional eyes if you have more than two eyes), functioning as a long-range darkvision capacitors augmentation. You can still send out one eye as a spy drone, during which time the eyes do not grant you darkvision.

Despite Ted and Jelico's best analysis, you're not quite able to tell the purpose of the final artifact. (High DCs on all these, so 3 out of 4 is pretty good!) The whole process of removing and identifying the objects takes you less than a minute.

You note that the western door is locked up tight. The heavy blast door would need quite the skilled engineer or hacker to get through. (If you investigate the other two doors, you'll find the same with those. DC40 to unlock with either skill, and you can attempt multiple times - it just costs you extra time to do so.)

Thanks to Spec's hard work, the door beeps and the sides slide apart.

Three rows of glowing red computer displays take up the center of this room, with additional control panels lining the fore wall. Monitors line the port, starboard, and aft walls, showing various decks and grav-train corridors of the ship’s interior and the Gate of Twelve Suns, as well as the position, direction, and possible firing arcs of dozens of armada ships in the system. Even at a glance, you can see the Pact Fleet is in tatters. Likely, they won't be able to hold on much longer. Heavy doors are set into the fore and starboard walls (map north and east).

Note that the banks of computer terminals in the center of the room are about chest high. They block movement through them and provide cover, but you can see over them.

Immediately after opening the door, you notice that the other side is flanked by two additional kurobozu, coiled and ready to strike at intruders. Beyond those two monks, you see a lightly armored ghoul to the northern edge of the room wielding a rifle in her hands. She grins and extends her tongue in taunting fashion as the door slides open. To the south end of the room, you see a grotesque undead vesk, his intenstines bloated and hanging from his open torso while a slimy clawed worm extends from the open mouth of his skull. The undead vesk is otherwise dressed smartly in a captain's uniform. A force field hums around him and he holds a rifle in his hands.

"You were very rude to ignore my request." The vesk speaks. "As one that prides myself in propriety, I will have little guilt over the reuse of your remains! I am Ghurd Nashal, remember that in your dying moments."

"I am Arcalinte Soter, and I pride myself in propriety, as well. And I find it rude to collaborate with genocidal terrorists!" he retorts.

He thinks on what kind of monster this captain might be, and more importantly how to take him down.

Arc recognizes the captain as a mohrg, an undead formed in rare circumstances from an individual that was in life a murderous criminal or warmonger. He's not sure what mohrgs can do, other than the fact that their spiny "tongue" has a paralytic venom.

As Spec vanishes, the two kurobozu attempt to pummel the spot where the droid once was. Between being invisible and Spec's own agility, each of the strikes meets nothing but air. The ghoul spends a moment calibrating her rifle and then sends a jet of plasma between the two monks. The jet envelops Spec, momentarily outlining him while invisible, but Arc is able to shield himself. (25 fire/electric damage to Spec)

Meanwhile, the captain fires a single bright blue beam from his rifle at Isu. The laser glances off his power armor. The Captain hears Arc's retort and says "Genocidal Terrorist? There is a title I will bear proudly."

GM Screen:
Arc cuts cleanly into one of the monks through a gap in his defenses, then moments later he vanishes as Ted's spell takes effect. Ghurd Nashal ducks behind one of the computer consoles to avoid a blast of plasma suddenly whirling out of empty space at him.

Jelico knows just about everything about mohrgs. In addition to the paralyzing touch of their tongue, he knows that a living creature slain by a mohrg rises immediately as a zombie under the mohrgs control. He also knows that mohrgs tend to be tough and well rounded combatants. They take a particular pleasure in the act of killing. Newly risen mohrgs tend to take extreme risks to reach more and more victims in their initial bloodlust. Should they survive longer, their bloodlust is tempered and their regain their sanity.

Not mindless. While undead all have mind-affecting immunity in Starfinder, I'm happy to waive that for these intelligent undead. They'll be vulnerable to mind affecting spells.

Swiping through the doorway, Isu catches the agile monk with only the first of his swings, but the blazing strike is devastating! Meanwhile, Jelico attempts to tear free the captain's lingering soul. His spell takes full effect, the captain hunching over as it tears away at him.

Unable to see anyone in the doorway directly, the two monks step back. Each focuses his attention on Isu and Ted, attempting to choke them with the weight of gravity. Both wriggle loose of the gravitic grip without any problems.

The ghoul sends another crackling line of plasma through the open doorway, firing almost as much to suppress your advance as to injure anyone caught inside. The beam is aimed a little too far left, and it passes through empty air next to Spec and Arc. Though the captain is staggered by Jelico's magic, he still squeezes off a beam from his rifle. It lances through the doorway and burns a path across Isu's armor. (Dealing 21 fire+electric damage before any resistance. Do you have any right now? I don't see it on your stat line. Ted moves to get an angle to be able to throw an exploding battery in to the room.

Explosive blast: 20' radius which should get all of the bad guys? DC 19 Reflex for half damage
Fire damage: 9d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 4, 5, 2, 1, 3, 1) = 22
That's 50% ones for damage :( Spec invisible 10 rounds, Arc 11 rounds

Explosive Blast:

EXPLOSIVE BLAST T3
School evocation (fire)
Casting Time 1 standard action
Range medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Area 20-ft.-radius burst
Duration instantaneous
Saving Throw Reflex half; Spell Resistance yes

You magically transform a used battery into a powerful explosive device, propelling it in a straight Line to a grid intersection within range, at which point it detonates, dealing 9d6 fire damage to all creatures and objects in the area. If you send the battery through a narrow opening, you must make a ranged attack (usually against an Armor Class of 10 for a narrow opening or an Armor Class of 15 for an extremely narrow opening) to avoid hitting the side and detonating it prematurely.
