Which alignment are you detecting? I moved the icons of Ravenor and Tarragon to face the man in the cage, by the way.
"Yes... they fed me horrific liquids, said it was demon blood. Would prepare me to be the final sacrifice. Prepared me to be sick to my stomach is what it did. Also gave me nightmares about eating infants and raping grandmothers, and sometimes the other way around," he says with a shudder.

Finding nothing of interest in his tour of the room, Cott comes to stand by the door of the man's cell and sizes him up with his cold reptilian eyes.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Finding no reason to doubt the man's claims, the shapeshifted Cott waits for his more dexterous party members to open the cell, while remaining on his guard should the creature the man spoke of return.

![]() |

"Yolo.." Kelumur mutters as he wipes the blood of his weapons.
Kelumur searches the surroundings as he listens intently to the discussions at hand.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16 (+2 hidden objects/+3 traps)
If Ravenor does not detect evil and gives the green light, Kelumur will go ahead and open the man's cell.

![]() |

Thrugg hooks his hammer to his belt and sets his shield edge down into the dirt. He bends over and picks up the set of keys, "One of these may open the cell. Might as well try them." He says tossing them to one of the men in front of the door.

![]() |

Ravenor will detect evil
Ravenor takes a step back to better look over the Taldan and holds up his hand as his companions approach the cell "A moment please. I wish for Desna to verify the truth of this man's claims."

![]() |

Lex puts his hands to his forehead and rubs his face. "I suppose suspicion is reasonable, you don't even know me after all. I was taking a dawnwalk and something hit me from behind, and before I knew it everything went black. I woke up here. I don't know why I was picked, except perhaps because I am not from this city and would not be immediately missed. I think she also has my knife -- I saw her using it a few times."

If you own a folio or a t-shirt, and you want to do a reroll, go for it. If not, or if it doesn't work, read the spoiler below:

![]() |

reroll will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 Nope. It is fated
Ravenor blinks as a he detects a strong aura of evil in the area is immediately in front of him. However, as he tries to concentrate on the aura...
Now where have I seen this man. Lex Avai...I feel like I've known him from somewhere. Nice fellow...Desna knows how long he has been sitting in this cell and what horrors he has witnessed. Shouldn't let him suffer here any longer than he has to. And that evil I feel...maybe its residue from foul rituals that cleric did...better keep searching though, there might be some foul artifact that needs to be disposed of lying around here.
Ravenor will keep detecting evil, but does not particularly focus on the man anymore, doing more of a general sweep instead of the whole area instead, starting with the cell.
Ravenor clears his throat as he tries to open the cell door that Thrugg tossed over "I'm sorry you had to suffer from the murderer's attention sir. Let me let you out. Unfortunately, we'd probably have to hold on to the dagger for now. Evidence for the city watch, I'm sure you understand. They will return it to you once they are done with it."

![]() |

Lex steps out of the cell with a relieved sigh.
"If you must. Might I have a shortsword or something to defend myself with, should the creature I fear make an appearance?" He glances around worriedly.

![]() |

Ravenor shakes his head as his magic detects an evil aura about Lex...
This is...impossible. How is there such a strong aura of evil about this man? Wait, he mentioned that they forced him to drink some foul concoction. Could that be the reason? Curious, should look that up when we get back. He keeps insisting on a weapon though...doesn't seem like there's anyone else around...could he be an unwitting pawn for the dark forces still?
sense motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 Ravenor is worried that Lex could be under some form of mind control or being kept compliant with the potion
"I'm sure my companions and myself are more than capable to defend you if the need arises. The beast you spoke of was handily dispatched by our friend here." He walks over and claps Tarragon on the shoulder "My friend speaks true, with the cleric subdued, we should make haste to the city watch to ensure your safety before we cleanse this place. There is no telling what effect that vile potion might be having on you. I must say, there is a strong aura of evil about you, which I'm sure is the residue from that potion."

![]() |

Cott makes an almost song like chirping noise, and Jenny comes to his side. They move behind Lex and prepare to follow him up and out of here.

![]() |

Lex nods and shudders, "I'm sure that must be it. If you feel capable... very well." He stretches and arches his back, and looks warily at Jenny and the beast-shaped Cott, "Are these creatures your pets? Hunting beasts?"
Lex looks about the defiled temple. "I wonder if any of my other stuff is here. Would you mind if I look around for a second?"

![]() |

Assuming Kelumur doesn't spot anything out of the ordinary.
Satisfied with his search of the area Kelumur responds to the victim. "Do what you must... Thrugg, would you be able to lend your strength to pick up the unconscious woman. We will need her to put her in a secure place for questioning under the eyes of the Watch. Also in addition to cleansing the place, it'd be best for the authorities to put an eye on this place, just in case there's further activity."

![]() |

Lex goes into the other cell and says, "Ah, here we are, my scrolls. She didn't use them all." He comes out clutching a few rolled-up pieces of paper. He then goes into the cell he was in, looks around for a moment, and comes out shaking his head. "I forgot, I didn't have anything in there. I'm a little light-headed after such a long time. Let's go."
What marching order are you following on the way out of the temple? Who's carrying what?

![]() |

Forgot about it, but probably prudent to heal my wounds after the combat...If GM still allows it. Kelumur will be holding his daggers and intents to pick up his shield on the way out, and will likely take second after Thrugg.

![]() |

"Yerp, I can get her." He says lifting her up onto his shoulders. "Someone else is going to have to take point, while I carry her out"

![]() |

sense motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 NOW I roll high. Really. Oh well, better late than never.
Ravenor senses something is slightly amiss at Lex's words
Something's not right here...why do I feel he is keeping something back about that cell...then again, perhaps he is in shock. Perfectly normal under these circumstances. It is best we don't arm him, wouldn't want our civilian friend here accidentally hurting himself. Anyway, best have a look in that cell. Wouldn't want to leave any evidence behind. Can't imagine the venture captain or the Sarenrae church would be pleased at that.
"It is understandable Mr. Lex, you may still be a little lightheaded from your ordeal. Let me just have a quick look in there. May I suggest you stay in the middle of our group as we exit to ensure your safety."
Ravenor nods his thanks at Thrugg for doing the heavy lifting as he pops over for a quick look in that cell perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29

![]() |

OK Thrugg is carrying Zadendi, meaning that he's at heavy load at the moment. Tarryon is leading, Kelumur is immediately after Thrugg. Kelumur can use a wand if you make the UMD check, or Lauranna can heal you. Ravenor is stepping into the cell and looking around. Cott and Jenny are next to Lex, in raptor form. Lex is a few steps away, ready to head out.
Remember, keep this to round by round at the moment. What is Lauranna doing? Once we determine her action, I'll continue with the narrative.

Silly Disguise |

Forgot about it, but probably prudent to heal my wounds after the combat...If GM still allows it. Kelumur will be holding his daggers and intents to pick up his shield on the way out, and will likely take second after Thrugg.
"Allow me. It is what us clerics of Razmir do best." After making sure everyone is in the burst radius, the cloaked priest exposes their forearm tattoo once more and after a critical swint incants a quick prayer.
"Rub-a-dub-dub thanks for the grub, yea Razmir! I went for the dinner one because I'm getting a bit peckish."
If allowed to she channels positive healing vibes twice: 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + (6) = 12
There is a wave of holy light and positive vibes followed again by a second burst.
The cleric does a little end zone dance in celebration after the potent effects become clear. "See! I told you I was a cleric! Anyone else still hurt? I'm on a roll."
As for marching order, position 4 or 5 (not including NPCs) is fine.

Sure, there was time for two channels as Lex searched for his stuff. Lauranna is a nut and I love her, by the way.
As the others turn towards the exit, Ravenor steps into the cell, where a pile of dirty rags looks like it was a bed, next to a clean chamber pot, is the only thing that could conceal anything. He reaches for the rags and pulls them aside, discovering a finely made shortbow and a quiver of arrows. Puzzled, he picks them up... Only to gasp in pain as a sharp pain stabs into the back of his neck.
Lauranna, Kelumur, Cott, and Jenny see Lex step towards Ravenor, and suddenly extends his hand towards the preacher, an arrow in his fist as the man jabs the tip at Ravenor's neck, stabbing into his flesh.
Ravenor, you take 13 damage, and I need you to make a DC 15 fortitude save. If you fail, you are paralyzed for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 rounds. On the other hand, this obvious attack negates charm monster.

fortitude save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 Whew, 13 pts of damage taken. GM, looking at the dice rolls, I see only 9 pts of damage though?
Ravenor gasps in pain at the attack and whirls around to see Lex holding the weapon in his hand. "Treachery!" He roars as the fog in his mind suddenly lifts. "Desna's wrath fall upon you!"
Ravenor takes a step back as his anger mixes alongside Desna's righteous wrath and judgement, infusing him with divine power. He looks around at the tight confines of the cell and draws the blade from his sword cane while studying his opponent, trying to determine what manner of foe stands before him.
5-ft step back, standard action to cast Wrath, move action to draw weapon, swift action to activate Judgement (Healing) that gives fast healing 2. Can I make any knowledge checks?

![]() |

Hmm. I thought for sure it was more. OK, 9 damage.
Lex laughs, the sound echoing with otherworldly power. "What do you know of wrath, mortal? I have worked too hard on this to let you stop me now! Too bad you resisted -- we could have had a hell of a time."
He picks up the bow and quiver from where Ravenor dropped them (assuming you did because you would need two free hands to draw the sword and cast a spell), winks and blows a kiss at Ravenor, and with an arcane gleam in his eyes... vanishes.
We are still in initiative order.

No problem. Will update the damage received to 9 then. Also, if Lex picks up the bow and quiver from the floor, shouldn't he have provoked an attack of opportunity from Ravenor?

![]() |

Does Lex provoke an AoO from Cott for either picking up his bow, or casting a spell in a threatened square?

"Well that's gratitude for you! I didn't even get the chance to to convert them to my 31 Step Program™. Jerk. Oh well, at least we still have her." the cleric says gesturing at the limp red-head.
The masked priest pulls a wand from from their robes. It seems a sort of standard plain magical wand with a number of barely pasted on additions made to make it look more "lawful" and "evil". Black twisty twigs, tiny charms in the shapes of skulls, and other, spiky, occult symbols are pasted along its length. There's a small, live bat tethered miserably to its tip.
"Ravenor, have you ever given any consideration to the church of Razmir?" asks the cleric advancing on the wounded man with their makeshift wand.

![]() |

Ravenor stepped back, so he wasn't adjacent. Do you have a reach weapon? Cott was flatfooted because Avalexi beat his initiative, so you can take an attack of opportunity if you have combat reflexes or some other ability that lets you take attacks of opportunity when flatfooted. Go ahead and roll in either case.

Cott is caught off guard by Lex's sudden betrayal, and is quite mystified by his sudden disappearance.

Kelumur's head turns as he hears the commotion, and similarly follows behind Tarragon to investigate. "You people need the practice the 7 habits of highly effective people. It keeps me sharp."
Kelumur single moves, and stops there unless he is attacked along the way and the enemy reveals himself.

![]() |

Tarragon and Kelumur return to the defiled chapel and look around for any enemy, but see nothing.
Cott and Jenny go sniffing around for any sign of the vanished Lex, heading back into the still-lingering fog. Obscuring mist lasts for 5 minutes in this case, so I'm figuring there's around 1-2 minutes left.
Lauranna moves back into the room as well, drawing a wand as she moves. Do you want to cast from it, or do anything? You still have a standard action left I think.
Thrugg and Ravenor still have a full turn left.

![]() |

Thrugg looks around as he notices the male no longer in the cage or anywhere to be seen. He draws his hammer one handed, with his other still holding onto the cleric of shax.

![]() |

Oo right. Gotcha my bad GM
Ravenor cautiously looks around as Lex suddenly disappears. He cautiously sheathes his blade and draws his pistol instead, stepping out of the cell whilst muttering a hymn of protection.
"Save your magic, Desna's healing is already at work on me." He gestures to the wound on his neck where the bleeding has already stopped. Judgement (healing) for another 2 hp
"What? Oh yes, the church of Razmir. No, Desna is a fine enough goddess. No need for Razmir. Although...I did hear that our dwarf friend over there is highly interested in the 31 Step Program you mentioned. Maybe you should speak to him instead?"

Silly Disguise |

"Well at least that's all over for a second there I thought it was all going to end up in a big fight. Razmir be praised."

Lauranna spends her time extolling the virtues of the cult of Razmir, to the befuddlement of all listening.
All PCs are up, and we'll keep this round-by-round for now. Although there isn't an enemy visible, you have no assurance the creature who identified as 'Lex' is gone completely.

Silly Disguise |

Lauranna spends her time extolling the virtues of the cult of Razmir, to the befuddlement of all listening.
Lauranna who? I am but a lowly, nondescript (but in a very adorable fashion) servant of Razmir, Master of the the 31 Steps to personal growth, and financial freedom in your lifetime! Come see one of our seminars, and I'll show you. There's going to be Cool-Aid. :)
The masked cleric waves their captive bat-on-a-stick at Ravenor. "Are you sure? I hear that she can be quite flighty, Desna, capricious even. Always changing the weather on the other side of the world with all her flappin', and chewing holes in her enemy's sweaters and such. Is that what an inquisitor of Desna does, chew holes in the sweaters of the unflightly?"
Was Thrugg down by 22 hp three rounds ago, or did Z...D... (hope I spelled that right) just miss the 12 hp positive energy healing channel? 16 hp if like me you have the Fey Foundling trait. I mean I realize that it is nearly impossible to miss such an awesome display of godly power (let alone the victory dance with back flip and everything) but I can't remember anyone being hurt quite that badly.... Did I mention the 12 hp positive energy healing channel? I've got it here on my phone.
If no one needs healing she puts the wand away.

This silliness has reached weapons grade.

So tell me again what happened. You say this unarmed prisoner stabbed you with an arrow? And then he vanished? Tarragon looks dubious. Still, he gets out his wand of Shield and uses a charge.

Kelumur tuts loudly,"Tssk!", disappointed at the situation that transpired. The half-orc turns around and briskly walks towards the exit without saying a word.
