Round 2 - Enemy

The unconvinced soldier hears the message from 'central,' but rather than being assured his eyes open wide and he brandishes the pistol even more readily, directly at Sterne's head.

"Control! I don't know if you can hear me but this is a 001 situation, unauthorised Supers in the vicinity, attempting some kind of mind control. Central plaza, central plaza!"

The other solider raises one hand to his head, running it through his hair.

"Jesus Wiersbowski you can't point your weapon at the Major. We're gonna have our asses handed to us for this man, come on!"

But the other ignores him, simply shouting at you;

"Get down on the ground, now! I will not warn you again and I will use lethal force!"

Ebon continues to pace back and forth. "Does it seem like their taking to long? I thought we would have heard the jet by now." He picks up the pace almost jogging now as he bounces back and forth. "Should we go look for them?" He looks to Spore and Napalm.


He does. It's my fault. In a normal game Sterne would have to delay his initiative to allow you to hex and then for him to take advantage of it. I understand that was obviously the intention but I don't want to amend that post now and I think it's an interesting challenge - one you haven't had for a while. Apologies if you think that's screwing you over

Beads of nervous sweat run down Sterns face as the situation suddenly turns very hostile. For whatever reason this soldier was resisting his attempts to influence him and they were now running out of options.
f#++ it! Sterne curses to himself and holding the soldiers gaze he slams his mind with a shockwave of psychic energy, attempting to overwhelm him and prevent him from acting.

Stand down soldier ! You are making a big mistake and you are not going to shoot me! Sterne says forcefully as he unleashes his mental assault.

Not a fan of guns being pointed at her, Trystt decides to turn the dial up on her disruption.

Hex: Misfortune(DC:19)(1 round): The witch can cause a creature within 30 feet to suffer grave misfortune for 1 round. Anytime the creature makes an ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check, it must roll twice and take the worse result. A Will save negates this hex. At 8th level and 16th level, the duration of this hex is extended by 1 round. This hex affects all rolls the target must make while it lasts. Whether or not the save is successful, a creature cannot be the target of this hex again for 1 day.

With his luck finally running out, the soldier is frozen stiff to the spot. The charmed one, assuming his compatriot is finally just standing to attention, relaxes a little.

That is until he begins to hear a blaring siren ring out all around the base and see search light burst open and begin sweeping the central plaza where you're standing.

Round 4 - Heroes

Sterne visibly relaxes as he sees the soldier stiffen up and remain stationary and he knew he had succeeded.
Then the base erupts with search lights and blaring sirens.

ok soldier , I’ve got work to do. Your partner here is obviously suffering from some kind of episode. Stay with him until the medics get here and explain to them how irrational he has been, he’s stirred up the whole damn base for nothing. Don’t worry though I will speak on your behalf. Your CO will know you had nothing to do with it.

Sterne says with a salute and moves toward the Jeep.
come on, let’s move he says to Bobbi and Trystt as he climbs into the jeep.

"Poor guy," Trystt loudly empathizes, to be heard over the sirens as she jumps into the jeep.

Oh man, I hope the others stay put. Those sirens are not going to help them stay calm.


"Holy sh*t we gotta get out of here now!" Bobbi says. "Outta the way doc, lady driver here." she jumps into the driver's seat and barely before Trystt can get in she stamps on the accelerator, taking off like a bat out of hell.

Question; what are the rest of you doing outside when you hear the sirens going off?

Clinging onto the jeep as Bobbi speeds off. He wipes the sweat from his brow

thanks Trystt, I’m not sure what you did to those guys but it helped me to gain control of them. That did not go as planned.
I don’t know if it was the adrenaline or what but I couldn’t get a handle on them! When he pulled his gun on me I thought I was going to get shot for sure. There was no holding back then, I had to incapacitate him, he’s paralysed but only temporarily

Ebon jumps as the sirens start blaring out, he was already on edge."Damn!" He moves forward looking out to the base.

Percpetion: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18 I would now like to know what I can see up on this hill, is there an easy way to just jump in?

"We have to get in there!" He looks back to the others hoping for some solutions. "It didn't work they got caught."


There is not an easy way to jump in but you could scale the fence for example.

"Right, let's go." Napalm pulls out his epi-pen and injects himself. His pupils dilate for a moment and then tighten down to pinpoint focus. Despite the lack of light, Napalm can see easily.

He moves up to the fence, testing it again with his baton to be sure it hadn't been electrified as a security measure. Once he sees it's safe, he begins climbing.

Ebon moves along side Napalm, placing his hands together and clapping them his form begins to shimmer as he climbs up the fence.

Though he'd rather wait and trust The inside-team, Spore follows Ebon and Napalm to the wall, and walks right up the side using his constituent vines to hold himself upright.

He'll throw down a vine to help the others if needed.

The trio manage to clamber up the fence and over the razor wire that tops it without injuring themselves.

Dropping down to the other side, they are in darkness, though massive swathes of light cast from towers in the corners of the base cut through the darkness every now and then.

You have absolutely no idea where the others are.


Trystt and Sterne

Bobbi screeches the jeep up onto two wheels for a second that seems like forever as she hurtles towards the hangers.

She swears like a sailor as she fights with the wheel but eventually gets it back under control.

"Coupla minutes away, gonna be coming in hot!" she shouts over the wind that snatches at her words.

She is referring to another vehicle that comes rising up into the rear-view mirror. It looks as though the passenger is loading an assault rifle and preparing to lean out and open fire.

What do you do?

Trystt growls, "I was really hoping we would be better at this." Reaching out to the driver's mind, she feels around until she finds the pathway that connects his eyes to his brain. With a regretful sigh, she shuts it off.

Ebon lands on the other side of the fence with a roll, he is up quickly looking around. He attempts to listen and spot any sign of the others or where guards might be heading too. "Damn it." He curses, having no idea where he would even start.

"We run in there now we are going to get lost, and if we trust them they should be able to get out of this. I can't really see where the hanger is." He looks to Spore. "I think your right Spore." He then turns to Napalm. "This isn't the way I wanted it done but it's the way we have too. Can you start making some noise? Take some of the attention away from the others? Then we should move back towards the pickup point."

Napalm nods. "You want me to be loud and draw lots of attention? Yeah, I think I can do something like that. We're going to want to be out of the way though, so that we don't bring them down on us."

Napalm moves forward in the dark, looking for any vehicle nearby. He plans to cut the fuel lines to allow gasoline to leak out before he tosses a bomb for a bigger explosion.

Fort save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

THe driver suddenly snatches at his eyes and screams. "I can't see, I can't see!" He panics and the wheel slides left and right. His passenger is tossed about like a ship on the ocean and though you hear the squeal of brakes the jeep shoots violently off to the left and smashes into the side of a building.

Another two vehicles take up the pursuit and this time you hear the hollow pop of gunfire behind you.

The hangar is in sight now, a massive building on the west side of the base but between you and it are several soldiers hustling to form a blockade. They too have weapons ready and look about to pound the jeep with automatic gunfire.


At the fence

Napalm, Spore and Ebon rush up to the nearest set of parked vehicles. They look civilian but it doesn't matter, they are probably insured.

Crouching down Napalm crawls under the vehicle and rips out the fuel line, sending a spurt of acrid gasoline pooling beneath him.

It's ready to go up

There are the sounds of gunfire west of you

Could we somehow work out how far that is? - I think with the gunshots we would be quick to move out and blow it.


It's at least three minutes away at a sprint. The other team was walking for 5 minutes before they got challenged and when been driving for seconds or so. So it's a good distance

Sterne whips his head around as the jeep behind them suddenly piles into one of the buildings and he looks at Trystt aghast.

what did you do? he shouts they could be seriously hurt ...or worse. Christ this has got out of hand!
We have got to get out of here, Don’t stop Bobbi! Get us through them, we’ve got to get to this damn plane and get the hell out of here, but if it looks like we can’t complete this mission, then we abort, we vanish and get out as fast as we can
Sterne shouts as they hurtle toward the blockade.

Trystt rolls her eyes at the Doc's freakout, but says nothing as she dismisses the driver's blindness, allowing his neural pathways to connect again. Looking ahead, she reaches out again, but to the air this time. A fog billows out, blocking the potential shooters' sight.

Way too cool. Ebon looks directly at the explosions though, balancing out the cool factor

The parked car erupts in a shower of flame and glass and metal and then a second later the two vehicles that flank it go up in a similar vein. Napalm, Ebon and Spore all run to take cover and can feel the heat of the explosion on their backs.

A collection of voices can be heard coming toward the explosion, a muffled mess of different exclamations.

..."Under attack...!"

..."Terrorists...?"

..."ohmygodohmygodohmygod...."

...."said some sh*t about supes...."

A squad of 8 men and women are rushing toward the explosion, sirens - probably from a fire vehicle - can already be heard further east in the base.

The five soldiers between the jeep and the hangar see the fog bank suddenly roll in out of nowhere and shoulder arms immediately. When they open up there is a roar of automatic gunfire that rips into the jeep, the high-pitched whistles and whines of bullets whizzing past mixes with the sound of smashing glass and the hollow punch of projectiles striking metal.

Bobbi cries out in pain as a mist of blood bursts in the jeep, a bullet having struck her in the arm. Sterne too feels searing pain in his abdomen and there is a sudden head-spinning pull to the right as one of the tires explodes.

But Bobbi plunges through the fog heedlessly.

The hangar is ahead now and she pulls up beside it with a screech of tires and grinding metal. In an instant she is out, ignoring the pain in her arm, her hair a blonde halo around her as she whips out her collapsable staff. Sprinting inside you see several military jets and more advanced troop carriers in various states of repair.

Selecting one, and secretly hoping it is flight-worthy, Bobbi runs toward it.

"They are going to be on us in seconds. I got to get this thing running and ready to go, you're going to have to hold them off somehow!"

The five soldiers are converging on your position with more surely to follow close behind.

Sterne holds his breath as they plunge through the fog bank and as Bobbi cries out in pain the psychic connection he established between them activates and in his minds eye he can see the bullet wound in her arm, with a thought he sends her bodies immune system into over drive and the wound begins to close

psychosomatic surge: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Moments later he grunts in pain as a bullet rips through the jeep and tears into him and he clamps his hand to his side.
do what you need to do, leave them to us Sterne shouts as he leaps out of the jeep.
Looking across at the five soldiers he reaches out toward them with his mind focusing his powers as he attempts to fool their senses and make them believe their commanding officer is ordering them to hold position, do not advance until he arrives with reinforcements.
I am trying to get them to hold off, I’ve made them hear an order from their CO telling them to wait.
I just hope it works!

Trying to provide extra incentive not to approach, Trystt uses her abilities to create a small lightning storm in front of the hangar door. A bolt of lightning strikes the ground in front of it. "So, how bad off are you, Doc?"

I’m ok Trystt, the bullet just grazed me he says as he feels around under his body armour and his hand comes away bloody. is that you? he asks gesturing toward the mini thunder storm that had sprung from nowhere to block the entrance to the hanger impressive. that should slow them down. Even so Mockingbird needs to hurry, we don’t have much time. he says as he waits nervously, expecting a barrage of gunfire at any moment.

He starts running, and quickly becomes a blue as the piezoelectric crystals use his motion to power the circuitry which then imparts extra momentum to his legs and pushes them even faster.

Two of the soldiers reach for earpieces at the sides of their heads and nod but the remaining three obviously don't hear the illusory order and stack up at the hangar doors.

As one rounds the corner to fire a massive bolt of lightning almost singes off his eyebrows and he staggers and falls back in a heap. The other two wait for a break in the crackling lightning and lean in to open fire.

Bobbi sprints into the hangar. Two technicians rush to stop her but she vaults over one and cracks the other across the side of the face with her staff, putting him out for the count. The other she kicks in the gut and then butts him across the back of the skull before continuing her breakneck sprint across the hangar to the nearest jet. A Pioneer Jump Jet suitable for troop carrying and international flight. If it flies, it will be perfect.
