Hey all. I just wanted to apologize for my silence/absence this last week. Looks like we haven't gotten too far ahead but, still, I want to apologize for not contributing. Long story short, work and real life has been very busy lately. I've come to the realization this is my new normal and I'm pulling back from some of my campaigns, but would like to continue with this one if you'll still have me.

All, I'm very sorry. We had to say goodbye to our dog last Wednesday. We've had him longer than we've been married and in many ways he was our first child. It hit me really hard. That said, short of a bus hitting one of us, I have trouble seeing how much more could fall on me at this point so posting should be back to normal now.

The kids under the stairs, next round if Nanta does another five foot step before a channel positive energy would that be able to buy them a round? Nanta can be cold and pragmatic but burning orphans is a bit much even for him to stomach.

@dom- no you and yergin are on different elevations. if you attack him there isn't a AoO, you get the +1 to attack higher ground also.

@nanta- some might, you don't know how far down they are, originally there was 20 something kids, so not all of them died they just aren't shown and each child on the map represented a certain number.

GM, I can't recall if you previously invited us to post "instructions" in the event botting is necessary, but I did get around to it. They're saved on Dom's profile in a spoiler block, but here they are again given his abilities at 1st level:

Dom will try to avoid melee combat and, if threatened, would cast mage armor. However, for offensive purposes, he will generally either fire his crossbow from range or, if that's not an option, simply try to demoralize an opponent. I'd rather save his offensive spells for when I want to try to cast (aka waste) them. (God, that fight was depressing.)

started a sheet to track non-monetary items- anyone can claim anything, just be aware that your a group so try to give everyone a opportunity to claim something. the monetary funds will be split equally once the choosing is done, with a little hand waving on selling the items not claimed, I will post the items on the excel sheet and the art objects here in the discussion tab, you can take a art object if you think it is really cool, but it will bring down the split gold. If you don't want me to sell off something at certain points of the game I.E. when we rest and collect living expenses. I will wipe all the items unclaimed. (sell them) and split the money at that time. I wont put Quest items here so don't worry about not following up a clue.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as Nanta on the options. On the torture, while Dom might not be outright opposed to it, I just don't see that as an option given that (I think) we have at least one good-aligned character in the group.

Honestly, Dom sees it as inevitable that the "law" will have its way with Lamm and, actually, has contempt for that outcome but doesn't see much can be done to change it.

That said... How much can we draw on our contacts from our backgrounds? That's giving me a couple of ideas where we could park him somewhere but it wouldn't require a PC to be taken out of action.

Dervin is from outside Korvosa, relatively new (only a few months) and has purposefully limited his contacts (trust issues from the circumstances that brought him here.)

Meta-wise, Korvosa and its powers favor the strong and influential. Lamn is severely weakened and useless to the masters. His son has obviously supplanted him in the hierarchy. I think that he'd die of old age/mistreatment/be killed in jail. Just my opinion, meta-wise.

Kesso pulls everyone aside and suggests. What if we let him go but are open about where we got the information. That would at the very least destroy his credibility within the organization and be a punishment of sorts.

Nanta is very lawful but I don't want to force the party. He could get by with letting Lamn go to get Rolth. What actual proof do we have that Rolth is real?

Couldn't Lamn have drank one of the aging potions, sat in the wheelchair and played the doddering old man.

Your suspicion is not unfounded. It's the reason I wanted to check his hygiene; if he were clean, then the potion would have been more likely than he actually being crippled.

On the loot...

Based on what Gaedren has said, I think we should hold on to the dagger. Once in a safer place (and probably next day), Dom might like to check its psychic aura and see if maybe he can learn anything more about it. I just don't think we should sell it right away.

On the wands, I think I can use the wand of magic missile automatically since that's on a psychic's spell list and will definitely improve my combat effectiveness. I'm indifferent on the wand of acid splash. I am investing in Use Magic Device, but that's not on my spell list so it won't be very reliable. Might be better of selling it and sharing the coin.

Dervin's opinion on loot:

All the art, gems and jewelry be sold off and the gold split.

Wands, don't have a strong opinion, though Dervin does have acid splash as a spell, so maybe that wand may be suitable for him.

The common weapons and armor, sold off unless anyone sees an upgrade.

Dervin would like the dagger and the alchemy kit. Totally in favor of Dom checking the aura to glean as much info off it as could be gathered for the party.

Potions split up, Shiver disposed of. Anything on the red powder we'd need to RP on the thread though.

I'm good with all of that. If Dervin can use the acid splash wand, I have no problem with him taking it. Can be a useful little spell sometimes.

Hi all. Just saw a twitter update the site was back up. I’ve been traveling since Wednesday and every time I’ve tried to logon the site has been down. Will be home again on Wednesday and will try to update the next day or two while traveling if the site allows it. Hopefully things will stabilize soon and this is the end of it.
