Alperion turns when he hears Serila's scream but before he can react Serila's body falls to the floor and the others kill the attacker and pull it off her. "No... no, no, not her." Rushing to Serial's body he tries to drag her into the library.

I'm standing in the library with you per MAP above, so which room do you want to move out of? Did you mean go into the hallway or back outside? Plus, I have no bonus with ranged weapon. Let me see if I see it before accepting it.

Ok, I can't see the map at work. For some reason I was thinking we had stepped into the altar room then got attacked. If they came out of that room to get us, we are in a bit worse of a situation. I think you are going to have to keep attacking it before it latches onto someone else. Though if it attacks me I know wher it is and can make an attack roll with a 50% miss chance. I can keep giving you a guidance for a +1 to hit.

No, just Serila and I moved. If you want to move but can't update the map, just say in ooc or in the discussion thread to move your character.

@ DM Giants:
I'm going to also assume Balazar get's an AoO since the creature is within a threatened area (basically the diagonal corner). Ignore his attacks/damage if that's not the case, but let me know why as I was trying to position Balazar to also get one.

Keanan's slashes as the beast flies near and neatly chops the creature in two and Balazar bites one of the halves just for good measure.

The darkness spell dissipates from the altar room but the room is still dimly lit by the setting sun.

Area 10: Desecrated Shrine

Pews of darkwood lie tipped over and covered in dust on either side of this ancient shrine. On the west wall sits a large ceremonial anvil, but its surface is defaced and ruined. The only other exit is a set of double door on the east wall. The ceiling reaches a height of 15 feet or more and small holes let a small amount of the diminishing daylight in.

Nebdel lights one of the 2 torches. He sighs thinking about the recent friend that was making this unnecessary.

We'll have to make this fairly quick. Alperion only brought 2 of these and the rest of us weren't bright enough to bring any.


Alperion wipes the tears from his eyes and stands up."Let's get the mushrooms and get back to town with Serila's body. Her parent will want to see their daughter and bury her."

Alperion lights his torch off of Nebdel's and moves into the altar room searching for mushrooms.

After a few minutes Alperion finds a lone mushroom growing from the anvil altar.

Keanan and Balazar stand to the side in their growing pool of blood and watch the torch be lit.

"Despite Balazar's and my injuries, we're ready to follow and find these mushrooms. Although I believe something has taken the mushrooms from the altar."

Alperion inspects the altar closer, especially the 5 small depressions. Taking out one of his tools he grabs a sliver of something from one of the depressions and holds it up to get a better look. "I don't think mushroom grew in the holes Keanan, this is a sliver of a red gem of some kind. By the look of the scratches near the depressions I think all of them where fills with this type of gem and where pried out by looters."

Nebdel checks the room for magical energies. detect magic whole room from left to right It appears the altar has a faint magical aura. Though I am not certain what that signifies.
Alperion, please see if you can find a secret compartment. Possibly the aura could be escaping from something inside the altar.

He then inspects the altar to see if he remembers anything like it from his training before walking over to stand guard by the door.

Let's see if we can find more that weren't disturbed by looters. We've probably made to much noise to surprise anything now. But that doesn't mean we need to be careless as we proceed.

A few seconds after Alperion hears the sound in the courtyard, the group hears growling and shouting coming from the same direction.

By your post I'm guessing you are at the double doors leading out of the altar room into the hallway and I will move you there. If you can not move your own character be very descriptive of where your character moves to. You can always tell us Out of Character.

Alperion peeks around the door and sees a vicious battle between three humans and two wolves. One of the humans is standing back as the other two fend off the beasts. The small of the two is on his back with his bow braced against a wolf baring down on him. The other is squaring off with the other wolf and both have blood coming from wounds.

In the other hand he wields a bastard sword, which he swings with relative ease despite its size and wielding it one-handed.

That's where I meant to be. Not sure what my problem is. I would swear I checked it for the desired movement.

Since it shouldn't be heard over the sounds of a battle, Nebdel whispers to the others, Since they're having so much fun, I say we just leave them to their games. We have a task to do and they could be looking for the same reward for someone else. If there isn't enough to go around, we need to make sure those beholden to us get wha they need.

August paces anxiously around Serlia's body, but then calms himself and kneels next to her body.

"We'll get you out of here soon" he whispers quietly

"Just a few more mushrooms and we'll be done with this. This will all not be for nothing."


Seeing a wolf on top of Milon, Alperion draws his sword while charging out to help."Get of him you furry mutt!! With a near perfect strike Alperion drives his sword through the beast killing it instantly.

The wolf lunges at Jeffrey but misses. Milon stands up and flings a dagger at the wolf attacking Jeffrey but the blade sails wide of its target.

Hiyah! Nebdel rushes at the wolf to try and startle it into leaving, but stops out of easy reach of its powerful jaws.

Nebdel's scream distracted the beast enough for Jeffrey to get a clean thrust through it's defenses killing the beast.

Alperion is shocked to see Mr. Gudlinck. "ahmm....Serila.." Tears come to his eyes and his body slumps to the ground. "... Your ... daughter is ... dead."


William stares at Alperion, suddenly quiet. His eyes show doubt and William shakes his head. "No, she's not... She isn't... SHE ISN'T!!!"

The doubt in William's eyes turns into rage, and in his anger he shakes Alperion who he's still holding by his collar. "What do you mean my daughter's dead?! Where is she?!"
