Discussion thread.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Okay, I've got a few questions.

Are we keeping our same pc's? Can we make new ones? A part of me was thinking about a new one but the more I ponder it, I might just stick with Lothan.

Say we stick with our old pc's. Can I rebuild Lothan to a 20 point buy? I gambled and got stuck with a 16 point buy. That stinks. I'd at least wanna make him 20. But if you prefer a 15 point buy then this is not for me. I just flat out don't like 15 point buys. Not really a 20 fan either but I can live with that far more than a 15.

HP's: Now, totally in my opinion, Mordecai(Set's pc) got ganked on hp's. (Sorry therealthom, but I really was never a fan of the way you do hp's. Nothing personal and to each his own, but I just feel pc's need hp's a lot more than they don't need them. At worst, Mordecai should've been able to take at least half+1 on all those 1's he rolled. I don't feel like that would've been gamebreaking in any form or fashion).

Anyway, do you have a hp preference? Because I roll hp's crappy and would just rather take half+1. I'm not really a huge fan of that method either, but again, it beats getting stuck with 18 hp's as a fighter type at 5th or 6th level, or whatever level we're suppose to be. If we could roll and then take half+1 on hp's if we roll crappy, that would be cool. Heck or even just plain old half. I'm in another game that uses that method. I've got a 5th level fighter with at least two 5's already. So half my rolls have been terrible.

But if we have the option of rolling and taking the end result or taking half+1 then I'll go with the latter.

Also, would it be possible to rebuild Lothan from the ground up? Would that be an issue? Not completely from the ground up I should say, just some tweaks here and there.

If so, would the playtest classes be allowed?

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

And I would gather this is strictly Book 3 of the AP, correct?

Sovereign Court

Just dotting this thread as well, to show my interest :-)

Dark Archive

Some dude

Gonna have to pass this time, sadly.

I'm not putting as much effort as I should into the PBPs I'm already in (seasonal 'blahs' really kicked my ass this year), so while I'd love to explore the further (mis)adventures of Mordecai, I should really not split my focus anymore than I already have.

Thanks for the invite, and I hope the rest of you have a blast! (Lothan's enthusiasm and Tyrrol's fatalism made for a cool combo!)

You can make another character or rebuild this one.

Characters are 7th-level, 20-point-buy. Core and APG classes only, no Summoners. Almost any archetype or feat from official material is fine, but check with me just in case. HP is half+1, no rolling.

20000 gp, spending no more than 10000 gp on any one item, and spending at least 2000 gp on disposable items.

Hey guys! This is great, having the opportunity to play with you again. I'll miss Set, but I understand his position.

Javell and Luke, are planning on rebuilding Tyrrol and Lothan, or something else? I can build my PC to fill a gap once I know what you're playing.

Ludomancer, thanks for the invitation. I do really appreciate it.

The build rules are pretty clear. What about traits?

No offense taken. I recognize the frustration that can occur with random rolls. I have often experienced it myself when I've rolled low, but for me it was always just part of the game. [Grognard reminiscences redacted.]

Given the luck you had with Lothan's rolls, I think you did very well with him in my game. I look forward to seeing the NEW and IMPROVED Lothan. He'll be a monster, I'm sure.

Tyrrol was always a monster. I've seldom DM'd for a scarier combatant.

Sovereign Court

I would be happy to rebuild Tyrrol, if Lothan was still in the mix - I, too, liked the interaction ;-)

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Lol! Those two are definitely an interesting duo.

Yeah Lothan's rolls were fairly good. I just felt so bad for Mordecai. Which I gotta say, I sure hate to see Set not coming back with him. Good character.

Yeah I'm sticking with Lothan. He will remain a ranged combatant.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

7th level wealth is actually 23,500. Have you decided to lower it just because it's what you decided, I would guess?

Edit: I don't mean to be too forward with these questions. It's just if I'm curious enough about something, I'll speak up about it is all. :)

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Would this archetype be an issue?

Infiltrator

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Is it possible to possess a magical item that's been merged with another?

For instance: You possess a ring that's 5,000g and you want to combine another type ring to it that's 4,000g. So in essence, you'd add 1.5 times the 4,000g(as per the Core rules) which would make it an 11,000g item.

This is just an example, of course.

Is this allowed?

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Hmmm. I wanted to try out the eagle shaman at one point, but things didn't work out. This would be a good chance I think. I've never played a druid.

Yes, I've decided on 20000 gp.

Infiltrator is fine.

If the total cost of the item would end up being greater than 10000 gp, then it's not allowed.

Female Elf Init +5 \\ HP 54/61 \\ AC 19,14,16 \\ F 6, R 5, W 10 \\ Percept 11

Here's a start. Still have to go shopping and pick some feats. Domain will be Air or Weather.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Yeah are we rolling with traits or no?

And seeing how there's three of us, are we gonna pick up another? Maybe 2? Or are we just gonna roll with three?

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

I think I've got Lothan finally done. Barring any possible traits that is.

Lothan

I have this ability added to my bow: Adaptive

This is added to my armor: Defiant

And I've got these two magic items combined for 5,500g: Cloak of protection +2 and Muleback cords.

Cloak is 4000g
Muleback cords are 1000g which would be 1500g to add on.

Hope this is all cool. Let me know.

You get two traits.

I am going to recruit another after I see what type of characters already make up the party.

Male Aasimar (Plumekith) Occultist (Psychodermist/Reliquarian) (AC 25/17/20; HP 52/52; Fort +9, Ref +10, Will +8; Init +8, Perception +17, CMD 22)

Okay, Tyrrol is ready for viewing - I tried to keep him fairly similar to what he was before ;-)

Female Elf Init +5 \\ HP 54/61 \\ AC 19,14,16 \\ F 6, R 5, W 10 \\ Percept 11

MEchanics done. She's ready for review. I still have to go shopping for her.

Lothan:
Looks good.

Tyrrol:
Looks good.

Iolar:
You have a CON score of 12 listed in your Current Stats block. Are those extra points coming from equipment?

Male Aasimar (Plumekith) Occultist (Psychodermist/Reliquarian) (AC 25/17/20; HP 52/52; Fort +9, Ref +10, Will +8; Init +8, Perception +17, CMD 22)

Darklands Archivist:
For what it is worth, I think we could do with an arcanist, and a healer. As far as personal input, I would prefer not to have a goblin in the party, and I have played with Dreaming Warforged before, and would be happy to do so again.

Hello All!

Thanks for the invite. I'm looking forward to this. I'll be working on a half elf Oracle (Ancient Lorekeeper). I'm still on the fence regarding mystery and curse.

I'll be mostly out of touch for the weekend and will need a few days to get things together, though I can work enough of a personality to be able to contribute to IC discussions.

DM:
I noticed you have a druid. I was under the impression you needed a divine caster. Would a sorcerer be more helpful?

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

What's up, DW?

Same old! Good to see you Javell. I look forward to playing with you!

Sovereign Court

Glad to hear that we will have a healer ;-)

Hello people, I will be running a alchemist in this. So far it looks like this game will be fun.

DM:
If i get a potion of one of my extracts can i assume i made it for in terms of cost and caster lvl?

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

What's up, dude? You're the only one I don't know, but welcome! :)
I was curious if Darkland actually picked up another or not.

Do Ancient Lorekeeper Oracle's heal? I know Life(I think that's what they're called) Oracle's do. But honestly, I know very little about Oracle's, so, forgive my ignorance.

Me too! I still have to picka curse and mystery. Whatever I take, I'll keep healing in mind.

I've been trying to think of a way for the new characters to integrate themselves into the party. I think the easiest way is for all characters, except Lothan and Tyrrol, to come up with a reason for working with Kwava, a wild elf employed by the Shin'Rakorath elven mercenary group.

What the PCs have learned is leading the group to a confrontation with drow in an ancient forest city.

Dreaming Warforged, LilWilly5:
Both of you are deciding on how to build your characters. The two of you should discuss with each other what roles you'll both play in the group. FYI, the three other characters are a fighter, ranger, and druid. The druid looks to be focused on summoning and blasting magic.

LilWilly5:
What did you have in mind for your alchemist? More range or melee? I'm still on the fence with regards to this question, so I don't mind if you choose one way or another. Chances are I'll go with Battle or Time for my mystery, according to your reference. I'm inclined towards Time, but that wouldn't prevent me from going for a melee oracle.

Let me know!

Cheers!

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Wow. Somehow I missed your April 3 post, DA.

Corrected the Con issue. Changed up Iolar's traits. Settled on weather domain.

I still have to shop, but will have a window of time tonight.

Welcome aboard, Dreaming Warforged and LilWilly5. DW I've seen you 'round the boards. Nice to finally get a chance to play with you. LilWilly, nice to meet you.

DW:
I have a few ideas depending what we really need. A can do a little of both with bombs and mutagens. Gonna get the infusion discovery to help out with any healing but, I kind of want to eventually create exploding zombies later on but I'm not sure if that will fit this AP.

Female Elf Init +5 \\ HP 54/61 \\ AC 19,14,16 \\ F 6, R 5, W 10 \\ Percept 11

Iolar's shopping list is at the bottom of her sheet under "Gear"

I'll distribute the items properly on her sheet and adjust stats later.

Lots of consumables. Should be fun.

Thanks LilWilly5. I'm working on a pure caster (we'll see if I don't change my mind...).

For now, Time mystery with Blackened curse, using favored class bonuses to increase my number of spwlls known.

I'm wondering about Eldritch Heritage...

I'd also take the Drow-Blood racial that replaces Lowlight vision with Darkvision and Light sensitivity.

Let me know if you have concerns or comments!

LilWilly5:
I'll say yes.

Female Elf Init +5 \\ HP 54/61 \\ AC 19,14,16 \\ F 6, R 5, W 10 \\ Percept 11

I think I am really ready now.

Ludomancer, a bit of background:
Iolar is pretty self-motivated about defending the Mierani Forest from the drow threat. I usually try to play a humbler than average elf, very humane, but she won't be. I see her as super-nationalistic, with a bit a racial superiority complex, and the warm personality that we all associate with raptors. (She's a stone cold killer, a nature red in tooth and claw druid.) The mission will be her driving reason to work with the group and be a team player.

Kwava is just the latest in a long line of elves stretching back to the Fierani Forest who have helped her on her way.

Character is coming together. When do you wish to start? Having a deadline would help me prioritize.

Tomorrow, probably.

Wow! Ok, I'll do my best to be ready.

It's not absolutely necessary to have everything complete at this moment, but I want to get things started with Lothan and Tyrrol.

im gonna need a couple of days things irl have been crazy. will try to be done by Wednesday the latest.

I'm almost done.

Zoltan

Still have the equipment to finish. Zoltan is purely a caster.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Nice start guys!

Iolar:
Your sheet looks good.

Male Half-Elf Alchemist/8 AC:17 Touch:12 FF:15 HP:52/52

Heres what I got so far just working on the equipment.
