That is officially the end of this adventure. Thanks for playing everyone! It was fun seeing the PCs interact with each other.

I don't think I'll be running the next segment of the AP, at least not any time soon. I'm not really sure.

You escape from this realm and arrive back at in the room with the elf gate and the stagnant pool. There are no monsters or drow to greet you here and you're able to make back to the elven camp with Shalelu and Kaerishiel.

After describing your ventures in the shadow realms with Eviana and her commanders, she thanks you and rewards you with your choice of items. You each get 12,000 GP worth of magic items and gems. She also invites you to join the elves in celebration that evening.

Without Nolveniss and the shadow key, the remaining drow in Celwynvian are cut off from their refuge in the shadow realm. Discord in the ranks results, causing them to scatter into the surrounding woodlands and mountains, where the Shin'Rakorath hunt them down.

A large banquet is held in your honor. At the end of which, she again invites you to her tent to discuss something important. She informs you that the elf gate still functions, and with the shadow key, the elves are able to activate it. They are working to purify the gate of its drow corruption, but in the meantime, the gate offers them a chance to infiltrate the drow capital of Zirnakaynin. Eviana speaks of a plan to disguise a small group of spies to learn from among the drow, and hesitantly asks if you know of anyone willing to take on such a mission.

See OOC thread.

Eviana seems pleased at the mention of the wizard's defeat. Slowly and painfully, she tries to describe what she's learned of the drow's purpose here. "Did you not see the immense blot in the sky? It is one of the meteors of Earthfall, the one that hit Celwynvian millenia ago, and much like the one that hit Riddleport months ago. This whole realm is a creation by Nolveniss, one that recreates the last few days of Celwynvian before the Earthfall, so that the drow could study the cataclysm, so that they might learn to recreate such an event at their whim. The star that hit Riddleport was but a trial. The drow could not aim that one, but with enough time and study here, they hoped they could learn to do so. With the wizard defeated, though, that plan has been put to a halt."

You go back down stairs and find the others still greatly weakened. What is it you want to ask them?

The gem is a key used to open the portal between the shadow plane and the material plane at will.

The other things are: cloak of resistance +2, headband of vast intelligence +2 with the knowledge (planes) skill, handy haversack, staff of dark flame with 9 charges, ring of protection +2, and bracers of armor +4.

Judging by the immense telescopes, this looks like a place for celestial observation.

There's nothing magical in the sky.

On the drow's body you find and detect: a dark grey cloak (faint abjuration), a silver ring (faint abjuration), a pair of bracers (moderate conjuration), a bleached bone staff (moderate evocation and necromancy), a backpack (moderate conjuration), a headband (moderate transmutation), a signet ring, a deep purple gem inscribed with a drow rune (faint conjuration), a spellbook, and a tiny pouch filled with diamond dust.

Round 4

Lothan fires four arrows and all four strike the drow. Zoltan aims his wand and smacks the wizard with magic missiles. Vendric's bomb hits its target and Iolar zaps the foe with a lightning bolt.

The drow goes limp and plummets to the rooftop, hitting the surface with a thud and a loud crack.

Combat over.

Round 3

The drow is covered in Vendric's flame and looks mildly hurt.

Give me your actions for the next round Vendric.

Round 3

Zoltan phases through and frees himself fro the golden orb that pinned him against wall. Iolar uses her flock to find the drow's location and highlights him with faerie fire. Lothan fires some arrows and hits the drow once. Vendric, roll for your extract.

The drow flies up 5 feet and begins casting a spell.

PCs up.

Iolar:
You and your eagles have a standard action.

Iolar you still have a standard action.

Zoltan, time flicker will work here. Your chain can't move any higher than it already is, though.

Iolar:
You are able to find the drow's location through one of the eagles.

BoF is still active.

He's still invisible.

Round 2

Vendric lobs a bomb and whiffs. Lothan drinks a potion.

A tiny sphere of flame appears 80 feet in the air and streaks downward toward the roof. As soon as it hits, the entire roof is engulfed in flame, burning away the mist (Zoltan, Iolar, and Lothan take 43 fire dmg, refl DC 20 for half).

The ornery breaks apart, and the gold planets roll in all directions. Zoltan gets hit by one of the larger ones and is pushed back into the wall (12 dmg, fort DC 15 for half, and you are grappled).

PCs up.

No, you can't see the drow.

Round 2

30 feet above his previous location, the invisible drow speaks some arcane words, where a convergence of magical energy begins.

Take your readied actions.

Vendric recognizes the magical invisibility for what it is, and can sense that the drow is still nearby, but can't determine his exact location.

Meanwhile, everyone standing on the roof is enveloped by Iolar's mist.

Vendric, Zoltan, and Lothan still have a full round's worth of action.

Zoltan, I don't think your chain is capable of tracking the drow.

Round 1

Iolar's flock flies up and surrounds the wizard, attacking furiously. None of them hit the drow, but two of his images are dispelled.

Lothan fires a hail of arrows. These miss the target, but dispel two more of the remaining to illusions.

Zoltan evokes another chain of force that lashes at the drow's face, but misses.

Vendric flies up and spews fire. The villain takes the full effect and looks in pain, but afterward looks unharmed.

The wizard vanishes from sight.

PCs up.

There's 5 rounds of BoF left.

Surprise round

Zoltan creates a chain of force that is immediately dispelled when it comes into contact with the drow.

The drow creates 5 mirror images of himself.

PCs act first every round. PCs up.

The stairs pause for a short run at a small balcony overlooking the haunted city of Celwynvian and the vaguely shadowy expanse of the eerity colorless Mierani Forest beyond.

Up the stairs, you come to the tower's open-air rooftop. Looming at the center is a gigantic golden orrery, with each planet rotating on delicate golden arms around a bright, polished sun. Three balconies overlook the edge of the tower, each one outfitted with massive telescope. Above, almost as if the tower were aimed at its churning core, the spiraling vortex of the sky looms.

Hovering over the sun, 50 feet in the air, a robed drow wields a bleached bone staff, the head of which burns with an unholy fire. "So you are the ones who led those fragile, delicate elves to my city, who forced me to hide in my own creation. You think that by this you have won? How foolish the sun has made you! My mistress already has all that she needs. You will die here, by my hand, and all you hold dear shall follow soon enough!"

Zoltan gets a surprise round action.

Map

I'm using someone else's map cuz I had trouble drawing the details of this room, and this map is so much prettier anyway.

You are in an area of dim light.

OK, both drow are dead. Go up to the 3rd floor?

Yes, give me your Blessing of Fervor actions or bonuses.

It's opaque, and nothing about it looks different, except the angle you view it at, as you climb the stairs. It just looks like an image of a bunch of stars.

Up the stairs, you reach a balcony that crosses through the center of the tower to another set of stairs. At the bottom of the the second set of stairs, you look up and see a pair of drow arcanists.

No surprise round. PCs act first. The drow are 20 feet away and the stairs count as difficult terrain.

You open the double doors and are greeted to a pair of staircases that wind up the interior walls of a tower. Between them is an immense black field, suspended in the air, containing hundreds of glowing stars.

"We were being kept to be used as hostages." Kaerishiel glowers. "What is wrong with you?"

Lothan:
You don't sense anything wrong.

You don't detect or hear anything.

Shalelu and Kaerishiel look at Zoltan in horror.

At first, Kaerishiel and Shalelu don't seem to know what's going on, but when you talk to them, they realize that they've been set free. "Thank the gods! I thought you were more of the wizard's illusions, at first," Shalelu exclaims.

"You must get to Nolveniss," Kaerishiel interrupts. "He has the portal key that'll get us out of this realm. He should be in the upper levels of this building."

Yes, they are conscious.

They are both two injured and weak to walk, even with support. They need to be carried.

After bringing them into the next room, what do you do.

Round 2

Zoltan creates a chain of force out of thin air uses it to rake the troglodyte across the eyes, blinding it.

Round 3

The elemental pummels the blinded foe with two blows before dissipating. Vendric tosses a bomb hits the monster squarely in the chest, ripping the skin off its ribcage. Lothan finishes the fight, shooting and arrow through its face.

End of combat.

Round 1

Zoltan fires his crossbow at the monster and misses.

Round 2

Lothan fires two arrows and both miss. The elemental drops the creature and slams its arms at it, hitting it once. Iolar pokes it with her staff, but the blow is deflected by the monster's hide. Vendric attacks with teeth and claws and bites into the troglodyte.

The troglodyte stands up and moves over to where it dropped its weapon.

PCs up.

Vendric and the elemental get an AoO

The elemental has one more round.

Haste isn't still active.

Round 1

Lothan and Vendric move in.

The troglodyte swings wildly at the elemental and accomplishes nothing.

PCs up.

Round 1

The troglodyte gets picked up and battered in the elemental's vortex.

Haste isn't still up.

There are no windows.

Elementals can be sickened, but in this particular case they can't be, since they are immune to the troglodyte's stench.

Lothan and Vendric are up.

Surprise round

Zoltan casts burning disarm on the troglodyte's weapon and the monster drops it.

Initiative: Lothan/Iolar/Vendric, trog, Zoltan
PCs are up.

The elemental breaks open the door. On the other side is a circular, domed room just like the other, with a circular bench in the middle. A stench overwhelms you as you see a troglodyte blocking entry. Kaerishiel and Shalelu lay slumped against the wall on the opposite side of the room, both of them beaten and barely conscious.

Surprise round

The troglodyte swings a morningstar at the elemental and misses.

Everyone make a DC 18 Fort save or become sickened

Zoltan gets a surprise round action.

Map

The door is locked.

Through the southeast door, you find a makeshift prison cell, 20 feet in diameter. You see no one here.

Lothan:
You find 3 composite longbows, 2 mithral chain shirts, 1 suit of studded leather, a longsword, a buckler, 2 quivers of arrows, a leather belt with a silver buckle in the image of a great cat, 2 silver rings, 2 grey cloaks, and 2 pairs of boots made of leather and leaves. Much of this equipment looks familiar to you, and you realize this gear belongs to Kaerishiel and Shalelu.

Are you searching or headed through a door?

Lothan fires and arrow into the dragon's heart and it dies.

End of combat.

Round 1

Vendric hits the dragon with several bombs, blood spurting and scales exploding all over the room.

Round 2

The elemental whirls around and lands a blow on the snout. Iolar summons a giant eagle that promptly chomps into the heavily injured monster.

Lothan and Zoltan, the dragon is damn-near dead already. You still want to cast more buffs?

Round 1

Iolar zaps the dragon while the elemental smashes its scaly hide. Zoltan hits it with scorching rays, blackening a large portion of its green scales.

Lothan casts gravity bow.

The dragon exhales a massive spray of corrosive gas down onto the PCs (Iolar, Zoltan, and the elemental take 25 acid dmg, reflex save DC 17 for half).

PCs are up.

Surprise round

Zoltan teleports onto the dragon's back. The dragon flies 30 feet upward and spins its body so that it's upside down. Zoltan, make a DC 25 climb check or fall and take 10 dmg and become prone. Make a DC 15 Acrobatics check to avoid 3 dmg.

Initiative: Zoltan/Iolar/Lothan, dragon, Vendric

Zoltan, Iolar, and Lothan are up.

Rushing headlong through the door, you come into a vast chamber with a 40-foot high ceiling. The far side of the room contains a 10-foot high balcony before a set of immense glass windows that look out upon a gloomy dark forest. Opposite this, three one-foot-tall risers ascend to a pair of dull silvery doors on which images of planets and stars are carved.

Roosting up on the balcony is a terrible beast. Green scales cover its powerful limbs and wings, and an oversized horn sits at the end of its snout. The dragon looks down at you, a vapor of sickly green wafting from its flaring nostrils.

Zoltan gets a surprise round action.

Map

Round 5

As soon as the elemental reaches the doorway, the demon vanishes.

End of combat.

Round 5

Lothan and Zoltan hit the monster with missiles. Vendric drinks an extract.

Iolar.

Round 4

Vendric blasts the demon with fire and Lothan finishes it off with a hail of arrows.

Zoltan pelts the other outsider with magic missiles as it tries fight off the air elemental and fails.

PCs are up. Iolar, your target is dead so give me an alternate action.

10 ft.

Round 3

Vendric spews fire the and demon is caught in the middle of the blast.

The elemental picks up the southern demon in a whirlwind and drags it to the southern wall.

Iolar cast shillelagh and moves into the room.

Lothan and Vendric are up.

The north demon is now heavily injured.
