Yeah, pretty much.
I'm happy for Sefu to move on from here. If the woman was conscious she could spend a move action to issue new orders. If she wasn't so inexperienced she would have issued a better order.
As it is, the dominate might as well have lapsed.
@Laurestine: Were you after something from the civilian before his protection spell lapses?

@Laurestine: Were you after something from the civilian before his protection spell lapses?
Sure was! My intent was to hold him until the effects of the dominate pass so we can be sure he won't try to complete the orders he was given. We don't need a dominated civilian going on a rampage unchecked. That's really all she had in mind. If he is still uncooperative, he will be locked up until we can figure out how to release him from those effects.
The easiest way to accomplish her goal was to have guards detain him for questioning. It's the most reasonable for the guards to understand without balking at her orders.
Her team really is specialized, which can lead to misunderstanding by those outside their department. I take a bit from varying TV shows which feature a elite team trying to complete objectives like we are here. The regular police have no qualms obeying an order if it is put in a way that they understand and can relate to, regardless of her being a superior officer.
Sorry if I rambled a bit. I was just trying to explain my reasoning so everyone could see how I arrived at the conclusions I did.

So, who/what are we waiting for?

Laurestine Valerian |

As Monday, September 1st is Labor Day (U.S Holiday), I will be generally unavailable until Tuesday the 2nd.
The weekends are normally busy for me, so my posting rate is sporadic if I post anything at all.
Just a heads up.

Castor Drey |

Sorry for the long wait, RL has been difficult lately.

Darkest Corners GM |
Dangit, turns out I was thinking of Sanctify Corpse instead of gentle repose.
I'll assume the sergeant has both, but for the record the city hands out sanctify corpse wands for pretty much this exact reason.

Castor Drey |

OK, I was wondering what good the Gentle Reposte would do to the Guard :-)

Darkest Corners GM |
Sanctify Corpse stops them rising as vampires (or any undead) but does not destroy the body. This means they can be brought back to life, or turned later.
It only lasts 24 hours, but can be reapplied and that is long enough to get them to a cemetery.
It's also faster and safer than destroying the body.
Nex used to fight Geb, who use a LOT of undead, so dealing with zombie plague is as routine as dealing with fires and medical emergencies (which Guards are also equipped to do).
It's RIDICULOUSLY expensive (about a weeks wages per body) but dead rich people with destroyed bodies cost thousands (a lot of thousands) more to bring back from the dead.

Castor Drey |

Is Laurestine still with us? She has not posted in a week.

Laurestine Valerian |

I'm here, just really tired today. I'll get a post later today.

Ophelia 'Springs' Hale |

No stress, all is good now that we know that you are alive :P

Castor Drey |

No problem

Laurestine Valerian |

Apologies for not having posted recently. I have not been feeling well. Having a very harsh headache, feels just about like a migraine, but I am not sure. I can't get myself in the mindset to play my characters when I am like that. It's a push just to be able to be at work. I'll get something in the morning when I settle in at work. I plan on quality sleep tonight so I'll be back in my groove soon. :-)

Ophelia 'Springs' Hale |

Aww - that sucks! I hope you get better soon, persistent headaches are a b~@!%.

Castor Drey |

I am sorry for my absence. RL is giving me really hard time recently. I will do my best to post more often.

Sefu Warlockswalk |

I want to know if you can grapple through someone's square?
I know you can move through one but can you move and then grapple or do you need a free square to be standing on yourself?
Can I move into Oph's square and grapple an enemy so me and the enemy are now on the enemy's square?
If not should I just shoot people until they turn unconscious?

Castor Drey |

Unfortunately you have to be in an adjacent square while grappling, you do not share one with the enemy. So in this case just shoot. But you might try to shoot the vampire instead of the thralls.

Sefu Warlockswalk |

In response to the gm [in the gameplay section GM:]
It is a highly explosive malfunctioning piece of metal, if its loaded it could go off at any point in time and we were heading up a bunch of stairs, Sefu could accidentally shoot someone.
Well it IS a musket after all, one of the early ones.

Laurestine Valerian |

Status update: she successfully had angioplasty and a stint put in. They checked for a stroke and found no signs of such. She sleeps for the most part, though she is not recognizing anyone and is not very coherent.
The surgery being a success was most welcome, though there is still more yet to come. We still have to see if her body rejects or accepts said stint, which will come with time. That's about it for now.

Castor Drey |

Fingers crossed!

Darkest Corners GM |
Alright, I have heard Sefu is without internet.
Given we're two players down at the moment, I am tempted to give us a formal break till after the weekend. If we haven't got at least one player back by monday I'll start botting people.
Also, I notice the original GM is drifting back into PbP. Should we ask him if he wants to play?

Castor Drey |

Yes, let's wait till Monday and then bot if neccessary.
I am not so sure about the GM. I like his GM style (I played in his first WotR) and ideas (especially this/his original campaign), but this was second time this year he took a long break. Not sure if he does not overextend himself.
Also, how would you want to make the switch storywise - back to the North or staying here?
If you guys want him, I am ok with that and will be happy to play in his campaign. I am just a bit "afraid".

Darkest Corners GM |
He said at the time he was dropping all but the AP paths.
I really liked his style with Darkest Corners (I'm applying for a WotR run by him) but a non-AP game takes a lot more work, especially with mysteries... though admitedly this first bit is not as much... and that's why he was dropping the non-AP paths.
Mostly I was thinking that if he likes running this sort of game he probably likes playing in them as well.

Castor Drey |

Oh, sorry, misunderstanding. If you mean for him to play, than absolutely yes!
On the side note - the first time around he did drop his AP game.

Ophelia 'Springs' Hale |

Sefu SMASH indeed ^^
I didn't check the discussion thread before posting in the gameplay, so you'll get to finish it also ^^ Unless Castor whips up something fun :P

Castor Drey |

Probably not - no need to waste spells on this - moreover, Castor does not have many damaging ones. And from the description the vampire looks like he is almost finished.
Sefu: You can call him Castor, Mr. Drey or Master Drey - all would be appropriate - depending how you feel toward him, as you are the newbie on the squad. The inspiration for the name came from the movie Face Off (I just like the sound of it) and the similarity was just coincidence at first. But I do like it very much now :-) It makes room for possible jokes.

Darkest Corners GM |
Wow Ophelia - that's a good question.
Also, phenomonal roll...
I don't think you can.
Critical success and failure are about luck I think. Not so much that you did a perfect execution as that he moved his head into the blow, or already had a weak skull or something.
Good news; precision damage ins't multiplied.

Castor Drey |

Are there still four players here or is it just the two of us?

Castor Drey |

Well, we might have a fifth player even if they get back.
But in the meantime, I am strongly in favor of botting them.
