Facts we know...
Someone had enough clearance to do these things.
1)Hijack an Arbite Shuttle to Ambush us on the Void Needle.
2)Transfer Penal Troops to Oremor with no paper trail.
3)Serial Killer stripping Krades office of evidence.
4)There timely arrive at the Gear Box.
5)Covered up a Fire Fight which included an anti tank weapon, (Auto Cannon)with no show of police force.
6)Had enough time to cycle out loyal officers and cycle in raw recruits and corrupt officers so nothing in precient would be questioned. This person has to be well above Leprades (Investigators/Detectives) pay scale.
My thoughts:
1 & 3: both involve bypassing security in the Adeptus Arbites headquarters. This means they either had someone on the inside or were skilled enough to bypass security, I'm leaning towards the latter.2: Requires at least one person pretty high up in the legion, since we are dealing with 2 legions (6th & 7th) that makes for two separate people or groups.
4: Implies that someone was following you, and then tipped off Leprade. There seems to be a pretty clear connection between Leprade and the Yelloboros, as they were the only ones in the position to tip him off to this fact (according to the message Leprade got, a "pair of watchers" had one of you guys cornered in the bathroom). Also, since they didn't know about the nurglings, means that Leprade and the Yelloboros aren't affiliated with the Nurgle faction.
5 & 6: Leprade could cover these up on his own, he has had 2-3 years to build an empire within the arbies, so his guys are probably already in place. The real question is why he would be willing to cover up for the chaos and the evicerator.

There seems to be a lot of little items that all interconnect. Most of what everyone has in knowledge is in the hands on one or two individuals at a time. Once you are able to all talk for more then a minute or two. A lot of information can be digested by the others who do not know what has happened.
What El and Bal have already mentioned seems to be the gist of the situation. The characters will be able to come up with most if not all of those points.

Could be alot of motivators. Alot of things could twist a man like that. Jealousy over Johnnie's success. The want of Power and prestige is a powerful thing. Imagine all the talk after Johnnie nabbed the Eviserator the first time. All the praise, the ribbing of Leprade for not getting the job done etc etc.
Then again it could be jealousy over Quincus. She could have been Leprades girl before Johnnie, or Leprade always secretly desired her.
The Eviserator kidnapped a loved one of Leprades, a wife, a daughter, etc. Has to do his dirty work to keep the loved one safe.
Could even be as simple as money. Working a thankless job for S* pay. Starts off as an easy "hey I will pay you X amount if you look way". The money goes up, and more things are asked. Corruption always starts small.
My bet its a member Leprades family is hostage or Quincus. I think he is using Johnnie as an excuse to justify his actions. Tell yourself a lie long enough and it becomes the truth.

Two more random suggestions for our next action:
1. The Nurgle cultists were the ones who took Krade, so we should head to the penal colonies first to try and at least pick up some clues. (Also, Iacton wants oh so very much to remind some prisoners why they shouldn't rise up against the guards, but that's more personal.)
2. The Tzeenitch(Who cares how it's spelled?) cultists took the mirror so we need to get to them eventually, but their too ingrained for us to have a good chance of rooting out all of them. Thus, we rescue Krade first and hopefully use his influence to help get the cultists. (Let's hope we can get Krade out of this alive and not horribly infected.)

Davi The Eccentric |

Ah, but it the Tzeentch cultists haven't killed Quincus yet I doubt they will any time soon except to intimidate us, which they won't do while we're fighting their main rivals. If nothing else, she's a hostage. All the Nurgle cultists are going to do to Krade is give him a slow-killing disease at best.

What do cultist do but try to corrupt people. The higher the rank and the better the person, the better the target for that corruption.

Davi The Eccentric |

"As he orders, so shall it be." is what Uriah said when he first got the orders about the Prisoner. He is loyal, but he feels the prisoner is too dangerous to live. Even though he feels this with all of his heart, he will not disobey.
Iacton's the same. The Prisoner must die, for his continued existence threatens to bring ruin to the entire Hive. The Prisoner must live, for orders must not be questions. Thus, Iacton does what he is told, and the blood of more innocents is on his hands...

Balfic-graa |

Figure being a ganger Sav is about free will, and is willing to question the status quo. He won't follow this order unless there is a damn good reason. He already has lost alot of people he has cared about. He isn't about to sell his people down river following a blind order.

Just thinking:
"Live with a man forty years. Share his house, his meals, speak on every subject, then tie him up, and hold him over the volcano's edge, and on that day, you will finally meet the man."
Never underestimate an inquisitor. This being your homeworld is not an accident.
Well said Ellipsis.
But what if you don't live near a volcano?
[One of my favorite ill-fated shows]
Still, this quote works on so many levels for what is happening.

Just to keep you guys in the loop, I may not be able to post much more until Thursday evening. I have a server move for my agency tomorrow which will necessitate some more overtime on my part at work. If I manage to get out before 8pm EST I should be able to put something up, or even if I get a lull on the job while waiting to do the requisite testing.
In the interim, the good news is that Vincent, Kaltos, and Deir do not have much longer to wait. I'm thinking the 'vignette' posts for their characters should start appearing by this weekend.
Also, there will be a substantial portion of narrative time passing soon, as the upcoming meeting with Dunkan will make apparent. In this stretch of "off-screen" time you will have the opportunity to procure equipment and supplies, so please take a peek at the Availability rules on p. 125-126 of the Dark Heresy rulebook. One of the perks of being acolytes of an inquisitor is requisitioning what you need to get the job done. With Dunkan's black market Gray Way contacts, you will now get that opportunity. Peruse through the equipment sections of the various rulebooks and start putting together a "wishlist" of things you will need to better face your foes. Even though everything might not be obtainable, it won't be for lack of trying.
I'd also like you to begin hashing out between yourselves in OOC what your next steps will be, and who will be assigned to each task. I know you still want to hear what Dunkan has to say, and this may influence your decisions, but now is the time to begin compiling objectives so that we can continue on without a lull after the recuperating, re-equipping, and refocusing period.

Lorm Dragonheart |

From I have seen, we have three main tasks before we can do the fourth. Prime task is to find Krade, and to erradicate the Daemons. The third is to rescue Quincus. She might be our means to rescue Krade. All this is leading to dealing with the Prisoner. If we do not want to be stuck with guard duty, we have to find Krade intact.

Davi The Eccentric |

Wishlist:
1. Mono Sword/Knife (Both would be nice.)
2. Hardened Bodysuit (Don't have the exact stats at the moment, but it's bound to be easier to get than a full suit of xenos mesh.)
3. Cameleoline Cloak (Less likely, but it's worth a shot.)
Anyway, Iacton's going to head for the prisoner colonies next to see if he can get any information on the Nurgle cult that might lead him to Krade. Hopefully someone else will come along.

Balfic-graa |

Okay my Wishlist...
1-Multikey page 151 DH
2-Combi-tool page 150 DH
3-Magnoculars page 150 DH (basic ones are fine, but if I can get better great)
4-Filtration Plugs page 147 DH (Will help when we cross nurglings again)
5-Xeno mesh, or Guard Flak Armour page 145 DH (Having illegal equipment makes it easier to infiltrate certain circles for information. Sav also realizes his furs aren't going to cut it, and he has just been lucky.)
6-Slither Boots page 151 IH (Useful in slime covered bathrooms etc. Don't expect to get, but would be nice)
7-Heretics Wake Deck page 127 IH (Like to get for several reasons).
8-Destroyer Hand Flamer page 120 IH (Saw how useful flame was in the Gearbox, wouldn't hurt if we had something simliar)
9-More bullets/shells for all my guns.
10-Any reliable melee weapon that will allow me to attack a daemon without punching it.
Okay Sav wants to stay in the Underhive and dig around for information. Since his skills would be the best put to use there.
He wants to jump Leprade for imformation. Start marking corrupt arbites vs the straight ones. Get in contact with the Duct Wolves. If there is going to be a war in the Underhive he needs to find out who will be standing with us. Speak with the Smile Girl Mollene, (haven't given her name to anybody yet.) Find out what information she has that she didn't tell her friend. Try and track down who the Withdrawn Veil is, contacts, associates etc. Follow the money/corruption trail of Leprade and see how high up it goes in the Hive; ie Rulership/Noble Houses etc. Also wants to see how closely tied the Yellobacks and Trizo are to the Eviserator/Arbites.

Davi The Eccentric |

Well, Iacton's definitely sticking around to get Leprade at the least. Also, depending on how the voting on which direction to go next goes, we might end up splitting in two. Rookseye, I apologize in advance if we end up doing that.
1. Catch Leprade.
2. Head to prisons to find Nurgle cultists and by extension Krade/Stay here and root out corruption. (Possibly be dumb and do both at once? Shouldn't, for Rookeye's sake.)
3. Do what we didn't do for 2.

Balfic-graa |

I agree some people would need to go to the Claustrum to look for Krade, and see how much the penal legion has been subverted by the prisnor. Since Albrek was orginally from there he knows people and how things are run. I think he would make a good choice to go with Iacton.
Another thing we have to consider. Is since we know Orcut VII has clear signs of corruption, and daemonic taint. It would make sense to send someone to the other Hive City, (Fulcus Prime) to see if it is having similiar problems like the Eviserator, the sickness that hit Orcut 3 years ago etc.
High Arbitor Ruvos Halleon is currently at Fulcus Prime. It would be to our advantage to contact him about Quincus, and Druuther before he returns to Orcut. We definately need an authority figure on our side. He can also look up information that we need alot easier. Figuring Johnnie's exemplary service record, and the mutual association of Quincus with the High Arbiter I think he would make the best choice.

Balfic-graa |

I think we also need someone to distract Leprade so he won't figure out what the team's going to do.
Think Sav would love to handle that. Nothing like breaking into a mans house and subtly rearranging a few things to get his attention.
Might also be useful to have Ivaanov around to set up some bugs and listening devices in Leprades house as well.

Davi The Eccentric |

Savalos and Ivaanov stay to keep an eye on things here in this hive, Johnnie heads to Fulcus Prime to talk to the High Arbitor, and me and Albrek head to the prison colonies. This leaves Uriah and Ishmael(if he survives and is in any shape to tag along.) I say Uriah heads with Johnnie to make sure he doesn't do anything too dumb, and I'll take Ishmael. We could probably use a priest more than the rest of you do, and from an OOC standpoint Deir's probably going to be meeting up with Savalos first.
Also, let's just apologize to Rookseye again for splitting the party in a way that's bound to be just as confusing as most of today was. Of course, there's no way we could do this in a face-to-face game, so I don't mind this from a player's point of view.
EDIT: Of course, if Ivaanov decides to leave Savalos will have to do this alone. Then again, I actually trust Savalos not to do something completely crazy when he's alone.

Balfic-graa |

EDIT: Of course, if Ivaanov decides to leave Savalos will have to do this alone. Then again, I actually trust Savalos not to do something completely crazy when he's alone.
Lol thanks for the vote of confidence Davi. Sav actually still thinks most of the group is sane enough to be out in public.
Though he has his "concerns" about Ishmaels mental health. It hasn't changed since he first met the Zealot. He just thinks Ishmael needs to have a keeper. Whereas Johnnie, and Brek I think they need someone close to keep an eye on them just in case. Like Johnnie shooting up Krades Office, and Brek having an ill timed flashback.
Ivaanov is solid enough. I just think his lack of street savy could get him into some real trouble if left on his own in the Underhive. I agree with Uriah going along with Johnnie.

Davi The Eccentric |

Rook thanks again for running the game. Its been an absolute joy. Hopefully we aren't to much of a strain on you, and you are still having enjoyment of running everything for us.
Agreed. I can honestly say this is the best game I've been in, and I'd hate to see it end just because we felt like multitasking.

![]() |

Guys, the feeling is mutual. I can honestly say that playing in this game with all of you has reaffirmed my faith in the hobby. Having never been one to go out to conventions or the FLGS, most of my life I have played with the same core group of friends/family. We had a great run of campaigns over two plus decades. As we became adults, the group gradually drifted apart over the years, the dissolution gradual, but inevitable, as people got married, had children, dealt with real life stresses and work, or moved away. When my youngest cousin, the last of my player group (we actually ran a pretty kick-ass solo player campaign that went through the Falcon's Hollow modules) moved to Ohio last fall, I had to make a choice, either pack up a hobby I love for good, or give something new a shot. As a long-time Paizo board lurker, I figured I had to at least give PbP a try.
In retrospect, I'm really glad I did.
You are a great bunch of players, and I hope the present game has been as much fun for you as it has been for me.
Don't worry about the multitasking, either, Davi, as you said above, the coolest part of a messageboard game is the ability to accommodate this style of play, where it would be almost impossible in a tabletop experience. Perhaps the best aspect for me, is the realization that this is in some ways an even better format for GM'ing in my style than tabletop. Without patting myself on the back too much, I was pretty good at the table, but I like what you can do with a messageboard game as far as engaging the player/reader in the narrative. Having the extra time to think through your decisions and the course of the story as a GM is pretty helpful as well.
I wouldn't be honest if I said there weren't nights that I was too exhausted to post after a full day of work, being a happy dad of two wonderful (if tiring) kids, and being the primary cook in the house. Even so, I look forward to the game a great deal, and even on those nights when I am zonked, (like tonight, the server move went OK, btw) I want to post something.
Like I said before, when we first started this game, if you are willing to devote the time as players, I will happily see us through this adventure and campaign and devote my all as a GM. The biggest fear I had of messageboard games was their tendency to dissolve after a few pages from a myriad of issues. I think we have little fear in that regard, now, going strong at 40 pages.
There is a lot more story to tell, and you all have a say (including our newcomers) in how our sprawling tale of the dystopian 41st millennium turns out. I'm looking forward to getting there with you all.
OK, taking off the editorial hat, now, LOL.

I cannot see Uriah asking for much. He would want better armour, i.e. flak jacket or the like, possibly a mono-sword, and a knife. (he would not use his psykana mercy knife)
Edit: Also a regular laspistol and extra charge packs for both laspistols.

What you are saying makes sense, but I think before we split the party, we need to have that conversation with Leprade as a party, and if turns out neccessary, deal with him.

Johnnie won't shoot up the High Arbiter's office. I promise ;-)
And Rook, we appreciate very much the effort you have put into this game. It's very much alive.

City of God was a masterpiece. I recommended it to anyone who loves great film. Thanks for sharing this, Rad, can't wait to see it now.
