Fung Xi |
Lady Amara, how long do we have before we meet up with the representatives of the Way of the Kirin? Will be have enough time to explore the secret stairs and the chambers below after your tea ceremony? Or is the tea ceremony intended to include them? It is evident that curiosity is getting the better of the stout monk as he keeps stealing glances at the fireplace.
Fung Xi |
With a blush, Fung responds, Lady Amara honors me, but humbly, I am no master, I have yet, much to learn. Allow me to clean up this place a little for the ceremony.
The monk looks around for anything that could aid in sweeping up, checking first in the Lighthouse storage area. If none is to be found, he moves on to the kitchen.
Ezren PFS |
"This might be a strange question, Venture Captain, but have you spotted any items that might be useful in building a catapult? There is one upstairs that looks almost complete. That could be a strong, unexpected defense, if they were to try something fishy.".
Valeros Pregen |
Apologies all, I have switched out Jakarno for this Pregen, as I had not realized that the boon was especially good for Lantern Lodge characters. Hopefully this will work out fine.
Valeros joins the others in searching the structure, but spends less time looking and more time with his hand on his sword hilt, watching for danger, and also watching Kyra it may be noticed.
"Those bear traps might prove useful." he observes. He is wearing a nice silken kimono, but there is a lack of fine jewelry to balance it out. He had explained repeatedly that he was lacking in funds, blaming this fact on the extortionist prices of liquor and entertainments in Absalom.
Fung Xi |
I was thinking much the same, Valeros, Fung nods, If they get far enough in, we can withdraw into the house and bar the doors. Or, perhaps, if we are sneaky enough, we can let in a few, and slam the doors shut, possibly barring it before the rest burst in. I am not skilled in siege weaponry, so I cannot help Ezren with trying to fix the catapult-thingie...
DaWay |
Golden League, I cannot comment on at the moment due to the PDF on my computer 100 miles away. However I am going to institute a timer at the top letting you know how much time left till the tea ceremony
1 hour 50 minutes
Amara looks at Ezren and says, That master wizard, would require you to reflect upon the knowledge of serving Tian Xia. I am sure you could engineer something with all the supplies around to get it working. Knowledge Emgineering anyone
Fung Xi |
Sorry, no Knowledge (Engineering).
Fung nods, Yes, the stairs would be a good secondary choke point, or retreat point. Of course, we would be best served to make sure that we won't be simply trapping ourselves in a basement. He grins at that statement.
Al Suresh Khalida |
Should any enemy show up those with range weaponry could start from the roof. With the main door barred, it would slow them down while trying to enter the structure. Once inside. we should wait for them at the top of the stairs. It would be one attacker again us three. The rest of the party would make sure nothing would clime the walls and could shut the windows.
I'll go down to reinforce the main door.
Fung Xi |
Lady Amara, how many people or boats should we be expecting from the Way of the Kirin representatives. I am going up to see what I can see. Turning to Al Suresh, I do not fight at range, but I do have keen eyes. I will keep a lookout, and head back down when it is time for the tea ceremony.
Fung Xi heads up to the top of the light house to take a look out to the pier and the various approach points.
DaWay |
upon asking about the golden league Amara Li, answers “Much as the Society has gathered rivals in the Inner Sea, the Way of the Kirin has made many enemies in Tian Xia. The Golden League is a powerful criminal organization with influence throughout Tian Xia. They are masters of subtle manipulation, bribery, thuggery, and assassination. Their enforcers are called Xun— merciless thugs who don’t hesitate to maim or kill a person for the league families they serve. They are easy enough to spot by the nearly full-body tattoos that they favor.”
Ezren PFS |
Ill be around much less today, FYI. Run Ezren as necessary, if I slow things down.
Ezren sighed. He had no engineering ability and it looked like the others did not as well. We could always go lay out the bear traps now, and just warn the others if they come in peace.
Fung Xi |
I can see the map fine. Is there anything along the horizons? Approaching boats, maybe?
The Golden League could pose a problem... Are we also expecting problems from the Aspis Consortium, or do you think that the Consortium could be behind the increased activity of the Golden League?
After taking a look at the surrounding terrain, Fung comes back down to inform the others, It looks as if there are only two places that would be good for a landing. One is the pier, and another beach opposite the pier. Both are around 1.5 to 2 miles away.
Valeros Pregen |
Are all the windows on the first floor accessible? Can people get through them? Can they be closed and locked? What are they made of?
"There's also a big barrel of oil down here!" Valeros calls up as he goes to retrieve the bear traps. "Anyone have any ideas about what to do with this?" he says when he returns to the main floor.
"I suggest we trap the second floor and just abandon that floor. It doesn't seem all that structurally sound up there anyway." he says.
Where's the meeting supposed to happen? Place the bear traps on the second floor, inside the room where the bridge from the lighthouse enters the house, but in the square at the top of the stairs in that room.
"We should actually investigate what is down the secret stairs as well."
Kyra PFS |
I have no knowledge of engineering either, I'm afraid, but tell me how I may lend a hand.
I wonder why Valeros continues to stare at me? sense motive; hostile, curious, flirtatious, etc: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Fung Xi |
According to the Pathfinder Comics, Valeros is quite lascivious! Watch your tushy, Kyra! :p
Fung looks a little sad, Then we should expect the move to come from the League, then. At least, we won't need to contend with both. Valeros, that is good, if someone attempts to enter through the lighthouse or from upstairs, the traps should give us a little bit of warning.
I didn't see anything on the horizon, so we should have some time. If the tea ceremony isn't ready yet, perhaps we should explore the stair as Kyra suggested. Lady Amara?
Fung Xi |
The secret stair is near the center of the map, going left to right. The other two staircases seem to be going up to the second floor. As far as we know it may or not lead out of the building. (I am guessing it does because of the map, but I don't think we should know that unless, we actually have this map, physically in our possession.)
Al Suresh Khalida |
Understood. So the room we really need to protect is the Main room considering that the possible assailants can get here right away. In turn this means that if we want to hold that room we won't benefit from fight inside close quarters (who benefit a small amount of defenders). Hum we could if invaded by superior numbers try to have our ennemies split in 3 groups once inside. 1 trough the lighthouse, and 2 from the manr each using the stairs. We will need to prepare something to completely blockade the south West stairs in order not to be over runned. Get the flaming oil ready near the North Est stairs inside the manor. The we could punch through the line coming from the lighthouse. Then barr the door communicating with the manor. go back on ground floor take secret passageway and fight a retreating battle is they open it before we can make a clean getaway.
What do you all think about it?
Fung Xi |
It sounds good, tactically. I believe that the windows are wide open, so they may try to come in that way if the door is barred. Which will leave one-on-ones, depending on how many they might send...
Al Suresh Khalida |
Windows on all Levels needs to be barred. And anyone with ranged weapons should start firing from the top of the lighthouse. Also we could also find a way to set the 1st floor of the manor on fire, is we can manage to collapse the staircase leading to it, anyone has any idea how we can achieve that?
DaWay |
Sorry an unexpected nap occurred on both my part, my wife and our birthday girl
The windows are made of glass, though the years of salt water have worn on their durabilty, however there is plenty of debris and furniture around the place to secure 12 windows after dismantled and set up. The meeting is to occur in the main room. The secret stair, you are informed by lady amara is actually a lava tube and that there is a cave about a mile from here where you exit.
With all the window preparation and moving the barrels of oil I am going to say that takes about 15 minutes. Please feel free to ask Lady Amara if you wish, she is after all an experienced Pathfinder herself.
1h35m
Fung Xi |
Lady Amara, have you been down the lava tube to the end? Do you think that we could use it set up a rockslide or something to hamper them as they approach, then race back to the house for the defense? Fung looks as if the wheels are turning in his head...
Al Suresh Khalida |
Actually Fung Xi i think that his lava tube is our secret exit strategy.
Can we reinforce both main doors entering the lighthouse, the manor and the one connecting both structures on the 1st floor?
Lady Amara-dono do you have any knowledge of how we could repair the siege weapon?
Any one has brought a bow ?
Fung Xi |
Al Suresh, none of us have the skill to fix the contraption, Fung laughs, We abandoned that notion a while ago.
The young monk's face turns serious for a moment, I am not one to attack from afar, apologies, Sir Al Suresh.
Kyra PFS |
I am fair with a sling. I can also light the stones aglow and set them ahead of time so our perimeter is not in shadow. It would last a good while (40 mins). Altho, she thinks for a moment are we not in a lighthouse? Perhaps the light could be set ablaze for the same purpose.
Also, Sarenrae gifts me with a few abilities that work at range. But Master Ezren has gifts there that exceed mine. It would be best, before we all disperse, if you would grant me a moment to bestow Sarenrae's blessing on all of us.
Al Suresh Khalida |
Well the actual plan isn't to scatter at all, at least not really.
Its more letting them enter trough the lighthouse, fight on top of the stairs there with all 3 melee fighting again the climbing assailant. You and the wizard watching our backs safely tucked away in the corridor/manor. then if we need we retreat into the manor. Clase the separating door. fight our way down and if we can't hold any more escape.
We need to bind a way to warn us once the main gate has been breach. Any idea?
Oh, and if you want/need to rain Spells on our adversaries you can move into the lighthouse's platform and fire away on those below.
At least its the plan i am offering. anyone has any other plans, ideas?
Fung Xi |
Well, someone should be up in the lighthouse to keep watch, maybe even take turns at watch, Fung Xi looks around, Perhaps I should go up and check again... Lady Amara, how long is the tea ceremony?
Ezren PFS |
"My only worry, if we take the upper levels to protect, is can they burn us out? If they put torches to the building, and we are all on the upper levels, we would be helpless. Would it be better to protect us from the adversaries getting to us, by trapping the entry points to the house. We could use the bear traps on the beach and obscure them with sand, creating a path, those bastards would be forced to walk, giving us the tactical advantage, I think."
Al Suresh Khalida |
Beach is long way from the lighthouse. And the outside wall of both structures are solid stone... And we are barricading the main door to the manor and letting them go through the lighthouse. We could have barricaded both entrance but seeing that we have no ranged....by the way i do have a bow that i will lend to valeros.
DaWay |
Amara agrees the tunnel is an exit strategy, not a means of ambush.
Yes Suresh you may enforce both doors at the cost of one window each.
Amara Li only knows basic engineering that she has scene through her quest, unfortunately she does not have the knowledge of siege weaponry.
It is already raining with the fog.
Typically a tea ceremony lasts about 15 minutes though master Tsuneo typically likes to talk, so it could last an hour or more.
