...aheh. Just as well, with those rolls. Three strikes and you're out it looks like. Still, doing a double-move this round then. I don't have a ranged option that works that far out.

![]() |

Remember you have to reach the Minotaur which is 100 feet through difficult terrain. The most distance you can close is 30' using a double move.
Is that with or without an acrobatics check?

Kageko nods at Aehtherys and slows to a more sedate pace as well, drawing her sword and coming to a halt some distance from Aetherys - not so far that she can't cover her ally, but far enough that the minotaur will have to make an explicit choice which one of them to attack.
Moving 15 foot, activating Combat Expertise for +1 AC -1 BaB, readying action to counter a charge.

How can he full attack me if he was stopped 15 feet away from me? It's difficult terrain as you mentioned, so he can't take a 5-foot step.
By the way he had to drop his axe when he was stunned, and all the rest of the team had an action while it was stunned, which would have finished him off well before he could act again.

![]() |

Tori hurries over and surveys the damage, "Geez, I wish we would have stayed with her in the first place. That thing was crazy. Wasn't there a healing wand in that bag?"

![]() |

Tess has the healing wand (I think). She uses charges to heal the halfling and the Magus.

Everyone back up and mobile again having explored the caves Janira leads the expidition back to Absalom without further incident. Once safely back in the Grand Lodge, Master of Scrolls Kreighton Shaine inquires excitedly about what the PCs found and asks to see their notes. He compliments those who recorded notes for being certain to write down ideas and observations while the thoughts are fresh, observing that it’s difficult enough to remember what one had for breakfast the day before as it is to recall exactly what one was thinking while studying an inscription. As the PCs are now the foremost authorities on that cave and what it contains, Shaine also invites them to come up with its name. The elf is certain to compliment Janira for her guidance and assistance, much to the halfling’s delight.
Three days later, the Master who best represents each PC’s interests confirms that PCs as a full Pathfinder field agent. As part of the ceremony, that mentor also gifts a personalized wayfinder to the PC, reminding him or her that this is not only the symbol of the Pathfinder’s trade but also a reminder of the three principle duties: explore, report, and cooperate.
congratulations on a job well done. I will report the session and have the sheets out to you tomorrow.

![]() |

Once the ceremonies are done, Kageko turns to smile at the group. "I do believe this calls for at least modest celebration," she announces, then hooks her arm through Marika's and starts more or less dragging the girl off. "And I know just the place..." she continues over Marika's protests as the pair walks off, her cheerful litany interspersed with the occasional - and increasingly irate - comment from Marika until finally the sound of a very specifically targeted bolt of lightning puts an abrupt end to the discussion...
Why yes, these two characters were based off a series...

![]() |

Aetherys smiles awkwardly after delivering her report, ashamed to have been so easily outmatched by the bull-headed beast. She remains silent for the most part of the ceremony, and accepts the wayfinder with a blush.
I was not up to the task... Sarenrae help me, I will strive to become worthy of her glorious teachings, as well as the Pathfinder's recognition!
Thanks for the game!

Tess swelled with pride and delight at the mission's success.
DM, did we get any of the bonuses from the etchings in the cavern? We mentioned trying to perform the rituals, but then got involved with the gillman.

Tori happily takes her place among the new class of Pathfinders, and gives congratulations and thanks to her companions for their excellent work.

Cool. I just wanted to check on that.

#5-08 THE CONFIRMATION
The invitation delivered last night was remarkably simple, especially given the importance of the occasion: “Start where it all began. Meet us at the Pig’s Paunch one hour before dawn.”
The Pig’s Paunch is a run-down building with a faded sign of a large pig standing on its hind legs, arms folded above a corpulent belly. Inside, the air is thick with the scents of human sweat, stale tobacco, and leftover food. In the center of the room, surrounded by inebriates sleeping off their revelries, a familiar elven man stands high upon top of a large round table.
“Welcome! Welcome, my students! Please, have a seat!” With that, Kreighton Shaine, the Pathfinder Society’s Master of Scrolls, nimbly drops down to sit cross-legged on the table before looking about the tavern with a sense of reverent wonder. “Can you believe it? It all started here years ago—well, over four hundred of them at least. Under this very roof the Pathfinder Society was born.
“But today! Today you will begin your Confirmation! Master Farabellus, Master Zey, and I all agree you each have shown your worth and dedication to the Society, so there’s no better time to see if you can handle becoming full field operatives. Allow me to introduce you to Janira Gavix,” he says as he motions for an excitable halfling woman to approach. She wears a large backpack and carries all manner of tools, pouches, and scroll cases around her waist. Shaine continues, saying, “Janira here will be going with you on your Confirmation. She was one of my brightest pupils and will no doubt be an invaluable resource on your journey, for she discovered the caves you are about to explore during her own Confirmation.”
Janira speaks up in an enthusiastic and cheerful voice, “Greetings, aspiring Pathfinders! Six months ago, while I was mapping cave entrances in the foothills of the Kortos Mounts, I witnessed a lone gillman entering a concealed cave. I thought little of it at the time, but I saw another one enter the cave again a month later as my Confirmation stretched on. A few days later, after I completed my assigned task, I entered the cave system, but was unable to find the gillmen.”
Master Shaine hops to his feet. “Initiates, for your Confirmation, you will travel to these caves to explore and document its many passages. Additionally, and most importantly, you are to learn what the gillmen are up to in there. Oh, and you need to come back alive as well.” With these parting words, the Master of Scrolls jumps off the table and strolls out of the building while humming to himself.

Caves. Jerrik says the word in a somewhat assumed fashion, then flashes a quick smile. Sounds like as good a place as any other to get started with.

![]() |

A cloaked man with a silver spiral around his neck, Baru looks around the run-down tavern in awe—the site of the original Pathfinder Society. It has been his dream for as long as he can remember—or at least as long as he had known it existed—to be a member of the Pathfinder Society, and he was finally getting his chance. The thought was almost overwhelming.
Almost giddy with excitement, but not trying to betray his emotions too much, Baru agrees.
"The task does not sound too difficult, but we should be well prepared anyway." It is easy to detect the heavy Chelish accent on Baru's lips.

Unsettled? Curious? Indifferent? How do you react to a dinosaur in a tavern? How do you react to its companion? A tall reptilian female with powerful arms and legs, and cold, calculating eyes of slitted yellow. Her hand gently holds the haft of a Scythe as she listens to Shaine. Is she smiling? Her other hand rests on the head of a genuine dinosaur. It is small, likely a juvenile, with a long tail and large clawed feet. Its arms are tiny in comparison, but its head is big and full of teeth and its eyes are alarmingly intelligent.
"I look forward to it." says the reptilian woman - a Nagaji from far-off Nagajor. Her scales are largely a uniform black, but green and yellow are present at the edges. Strikingly there is a long streak of yellow that comes up her back on the right side, up her neck and over the top of her skull, ending above her left eye.

"A . . . a cave? No sign of a library? No sign of a tomb? It seems far more mundane than I had hoped . . .." The elf sighs, before verbally reminding himself "Knowledge is found everywhere, if you remember how to look and pay attention."
He looks at his companions, hesitating at the sight of the Nagaji. "I am Flaern. Information is my primary skill. You?" He's obviously asking for some sort of introduction from each of you.
