Idril, now visible, rushes after the fleeing comando, catching him from behind and slashes him good!

Arthur casts a spell upon his wooden club, and then follows Idril into the next room.

Kjell and Fraadok also follow behind, with Thalrik trailing in the background.

The gobs continue to flee, and it soon becomes obvious why!

You have all found yourselves in a large throne room decorated with hanging furs along its walls, mostly black and red striped firepelt cougar skins, various dog pelts, and in some cases, what look like horse hides.

Four square timbers support the ceiling. their faces studded with dozens of iron spikes, with the lower reaches decorated with dozens of impaled and severed hands in various stages of decay. To the northeast, a wooden platform supports a throne heaped with dog pelts and horse hides. Dog skulls adorn the armrests and a horse skull leers over the throne's back.

Sitting on this throne, is a nasty looking young goblin chief, with a brightly colored gecko laying at his feet, a riding saddle across its back. The fleeing goblins now stand guard in front of the throne, along with three other goblin commandos and two goblin warchanters! The chief addresses you all:

"I AM WARCHIEF RIPNUGGET, MIGHTIEST WARRIOR OF THISTLETOP GOBLIN TRIBES AND CHOSEN HERO OF LAMASHTU! LAMASHTU'S FAVORED DAUGHTER MUST NOT BE DISTURBED OF HER SACRED DUTY! YOU SHALL GO NO FURTHER! PREPARE TO DIE!"

Spotting the presence of enemy spellcasters, Thalrik wasted no time in levelling a barrage of magical missiles at one of them. "The others can handle these goblins, but spells may muddy the water severely. Best to not let it come to that."

Since there are only two "warchanters", it seems to me like they arent on the map? Unless some of them share icons. Thalrik will target the one furthest away

Fraadok is not sure if Arthur just challenged Warchief Ripnugget or not, but Thalrik's action confirmed we were not here to parley.

With a quick twist of his longspear, he thrusts at the goblin next to Idril.

Thalrik, the two normal looking gobs are warchanters, I couldn't find a decent picuture for them so just used that one, I didn't expect any regular gobs to survive ;p The one with a green bar above his head is the goblin that fled, and he is normal.

Ah, I think Overhead chops bonus means you get 2x Str bonus instead of 1,5x (so +8 instead of +6)

Thalrik, that is the way I understand it. Since Kjell's mod is normally +4, making it +6 two handed, overhand chop is 2x the initial +4 mod, not the 1.5 mod. Making it a +8. However, power attack adds a +2, or a +3 if two handed, so it would be a +4 with overhand chop. So, power attack and overhand chop nets Kjell a +11 damage.

Round 4

Thalrik - thinking the most sensible action will be to eliminate the other casters, he thrusts with his new staff, sending four missiles of pure energy belting straight into one of the warchanters!

Fraadok - nimbly maneuvers his longspear around Idril, stabbing straight into the commando, wounding him severely!

Arthur - silently lashes out with his magicked club, bashing the skull of the commando and severely wounding him!

Kjell - The only way to be able to cleave them is to move to J17 and risk the AoO

AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 171d4 ⇒ 1

As Kjell moves past the last goblin grunt, it swings out its wicked sword to poke at the fighter, but is unable to get through his armor!

The mighty warrior then sends his great axe crashing through the gob, splitting him in half, and continuing straight towards the commando nearby, also dropping him dead!

Idril -gracefully dances into flanking position, avoiding any goblin attacks! She lashes out with her beautiful scarves, but is unable to penetrate the commandos armor!

Goblins - The goblin warchanter takes a 5' step back and begins to sing a crude goblin war song:

"Bite goblins, fight goblins, flay them to their bones! Strike goblins, kill goblins, turn em into stew!"

Two of the goblin commandos move into flanking position and attack Kjell, hoping to subdue the mighty warrior before he kills the whole army! Working together, the two commandos manage to score severe wounds on the man, dealing 16 damage!

The other commando charges Fraadok, tiny goblin longsword lunging straight for the brave Shaonti's ribcage, scoring a hit and dealing 8 damage!

Chief Ripnugget rushes to his gecko and straps himself into the saddle. The gecko then swiftly moves to the wall, and then begins to climb up it! Ripnugget, safely secured, is able to stay in the saddle easily! The gecko makes it to the ceiling and then, upsidedown, addresses the group, rattling a long horsechopper at you all.

"Chief Ripnugget mighty warrior, have killed many horses, many dogs, and many humans! You never will survive this!"

DM actually the damaged from power attack is not multiplied by overhead chop it is only the Str Base damage that is doubled instead of 1.5 for a 2 handed weapon

but, if I am reading the faq correctly, power attack IS effected by the 1.5 by two handing a weapon? (+3 instead of +2). So then... he would add +10 to damage?

yes PA with a 2 handed weapon gets his own special bonus damage. It it not affected by the overhand chop who just modifies the base STR damage bonus so the correct calc would be: +8 damage from STR (+4+4) +3 from Power attack as you had earlier DM

Ok, thanks for all of the clarifications. So, the damage with OH Chop would be +11. I never bothered to check the boards on the issue. Also, by my calculations on the map, I could have maneuvered around by the pillar to get to I17 and avoid the AoO (not that it matters anyways). I should have been clearer in my description of the movement.

I think my thing was, from I17 you wouldn't have been able to reach another goblin to cleave, and that was somewhere you couldn't maneuver to without drawing the aoo, or something like that, I can't remember where the gobs where last round. ah well! ;p good thing it missed, right?

Oh...I see. Gotcha. Are we certain that the boards say I do not get the original +6 and then simply add the +4 for OH Chop, doubling only the STR modifier. That would put it at at a +13 w/PA. that would seem to make more sense.

Thalrik mutter almost angrily, grounding the staff in the floor and setting loose 4 missiles once more. With perfect accuracy, they streaked through the air, hitting Chief Ripnugget square in the chest.

Magic Missile: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 1) + 4 = 12

Hmmm, Ive almost lost track of how many times Ive used it. But I think its 6 now?

Round 5

Fraadok - thrusts his long spear forward, finishing off the goblin commando with a satisfying *shunk* as his spear pierces out the otherside of the goblin's body.

Idril - gracefully dances over to flank with her new friend. She nimbly does some sexy hula action, sending her bladed scarf deep into the side of a goblin commando, grieviously wounding him.

Kjell - Seeing Idril has that goblin taken care of, he moves into flanking position with the Green's Warrior, sending his great axe cutting through another goblin commando, leaving it dead dead dead.

Arthur - Steps over to the goblin warchanter and thrust smacks him upside the head with his club, nearly killing him instantly. *SMACK THUD BOOM KAPOW!*

Thalrik - Six sounds right to me. four charges remaining?

The Grappling Wizard sends another rush of magic missiles shooting out of his staff, this time straight for Chief Ripnugget! The missiles hit him square in the chest and rattle him pretty good! The chief struggles to keep his riding gecko mounted on the ceiling.

Handle Animal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Gobs:

The goblin warchanter retreats for the relative safety of hiding behind the throne, and then it chants a few ugly goblin words and touches a glowing hand to its chest. Its wounds appear to lighten.

CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

The last commando rushes forward and lashes out with his goblin longsword at Kjell!

ATTACK!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 181d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

But the attack glances off the fighter's axe as he parries the blow!

Chief Ripnugget screeches from the back of his gecko:

"GAH! LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE! YOU HAVE SLAIN MANY GOBLIN WARRIORS, BUT NOT THE MIGHTEST ONE!"

The gecko then rushes down the side of the wall and straight at Kjell, Warchief Ripnugget's goblin sword flaming in fury!

Gecko Bite!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 142d4 + 1 ⇒ (4, 2) + 1 = 7

Chanting and gesturing, Thalrik conjured up a spell from his own arsenal. Appearing from within his coat, Rikkas eyes once more flared with a fiery glow. Scanning the room for a target, then decided to glare at the cowering warchanter behind the throne.

Thalrik casts Burning Gaze, sharing the spell with Rikka. He then moves to L 18 and Rikka uses it on the Goblin Warchanter behind the throne.

DC 15 fortitude or take...

Burning Gaze: 1d6 ⇒ 3

...then, DC 15 Reflex or catch on fire.

Round 6

Fraadok - Fraadok, I am thinking maybe you rolled that natural 1 because you rolled a d8 for your attack ;p

Longspear: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 1 = 16

Fraadok takes cover behind Kjell and pokes at the goblin commando with his longspear. His attack just barely manages to land a glancing blow against the creature, weakening him even further.

Idril - dances up towards the commando and whips out her bladed scarves, hoping to take advantage of her positioning to end this gobs existence, but her scarf flies wild and is unable to connect.

Kjell - swings his mighty axe at the goblin chief, but to his surprise, warchief Ripnugget brings up his flaming goblin sword and parries the attack, a wicked smile creeping across his face.

"HEHEHE! Silly hooman, you are outmatched by mighty warchief!"

Arthur - also attempts to club the chief, but he nimbly maneuvers his mount and easily avoids the attack.

Thalrik - Fort Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Ref Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Chanting the words to one of his new favorite spells, Thalrik and Rikka spring into action, super-man-esque heat rays shooting out at the warchanter. The rays strike their target and soon after the warchanter bursts into flames!!

Gobs - The commando turns around in a rage and steps towards the graceful dancer, sword flashing as it comes down towards her!

ATTACK: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 81d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

But Idril is too quick, and she nimbly dances away from the blow.

The goblin warchanter shrieks and screams as it catches on fire, and it stops, drops, and rolls, attempting to put out the fire!

Chief Ripnugget spurs his mount, and the gecko jumps and clings to one of the pillars, and then proceeds to run up the pillar and up to the ceiling once more! As the gecko is doing this, Ripnugget swings at Kjell.

FLAMING SWORD ATTACK!: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 141d4 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 4 + (4) = 12

But Kjell manages to easily deflect the blow once again.

So apparently, when a character catches on fire, he takes 1d6 fire damage immediately. So when someone fails their reflex save against Burning Gaze, they apparently take another 1d6 on top of the 1d6 from failing the fort save.

The goblin also needs to take a reflex save to put out the flames, DC 15, but gets a +4 for rolling on the ground. Anyway, heres the extra 1d6 he should have taken last turn

On fire!!!: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Even as the Warchanter was putting out the flames, Rikka glared at him once more, attempting to reignite him.

Burning Gaze: 1d6 ⇒ 3

And if he fails his reflex...

Moving to get a clear view of the Chief, Thalrik chanted words of power, a thin sheet of greasy oil covering his hands momentarily. As the spell reached completion, he flicked his hands in the direction of his target, the oil gone but now appearing upon the wall beneath the Geckos feet.

5 foot step to L 17, then cast Grease beneath the Geckos feet. DC 15 reflex or fall. On its turn, if it tries to move it has to make a DC 10 Acrobatics check. If it fails, it cant move and has to make another DC 15 reflex or fall. Failure by 5 or more on the acrobatics check means it falls.

Kjell slides five feet to I18 in an attempt to finish off the last goblin on the ground.

So basically, Kjell just erased that goblin from existence. Noone even knows he ever existed, he has been erased from the memory of everyone who ever interacted with him. That soldier who lost his leg fighting goblins, cant remember how he lost it, the goblins mother cant remember giving birth to him. Poof, gone.

Thalrik directs Rikka to continue her burning destruction. The goblin warchanter shrieks his siren song as the flames continue to eat away his green flesh. After a moment, the shrieking stops and nothing is left but a blackened warchanter carcass.

Thalrik then turns his beady grappling wizard eyes at poor Chief Ripnugget, specifically the patch of ceiling Ripnugget is currently hanging from via his gecko. He does some magicky stuff and soon the ceiling is slick with grease! However, the gecko seems to simply keep on sticking to the ceiling. Chief Ripnugget gives a hearty chuckle at the mage's valiant efforts.

Thalrik:

I am unsure how this would be handled, but the bestiary entry for the gecko reads as follows:

Expert Climber (Ex) A gecko's feet allow it to climb virtually any surface, no matter how slick or sheer. In effect, geckos are treated as constantly being under a natural version of the spell spider climb.

And to quote the forums opinion on Spider Climb + Grease:

"From a RAW perspective, Grease would have no effect on a creature using Spider Climb, because Spider Climb states "...furthermore, it need not make Climb checks to traverse a vertical or horizontal surface (even upside down)". Grease would increase the DC of any Climb check made, but since Spider Climb negates the necessity for a check, it would have no effect."

Kjell - takes a mighty wind up with his Greataxe, and then proceeds to baseball swing the poor goblin commando into oblivion. It would seem the commando was, in fact, obliterated from all existence.

Fraadok - whipsers to his goblin slaying longspear something along the lines of "why you no slay goblins longspear?". He then stares at the fine red mist that is now taking the place of the goblin he was planning on attacking. He wonders to himself if he did that or not.

Arthur & Idril - Same thing for you guys as Fraadok. Since Kjell totally killed the s!+% out of that goblin, and Thalrik finished off the warchanter, the only goblin left is Ripnugget riding his gecko on the ceiling.

Ripnugget- Enraged by Kjell's words, and his killing, ripnugget spurs his gecko down one of the pillars and rides full speed past Kjell, slashing at the warrior as he rides past. Making use of ride by attack and using the gecko's double move action.

"NO ONE INSULT RIPNUGGET!"

FLAMING SWORD ATTACK AGAIN!: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 261d4 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 4 + (4) = 12

This time, the goblin hero manages to land a blow, dealing 12 damage to Kjell! After the attack, the gecko continues forward, and up the next wall to safety once more!

Fraadok, you could reach the gecko and/or the chief with your longspear. Or anyone with range. Although the grease won't effect the gecko's suction cup like feet, doing damage to either one of them may cause them to fall... also, Fraadok, Arthur, and Idril. You all still have round 7 standard action.
