Dwalindor the Pahmet |
I don't know about the riddle...maybe. I think it was a rumble...in my stomach.
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
"Well those birds just look like normal birds . . . But I don't think normal birds killed those people. Let me look around . . . "
"Ba'set, can you get a scent?"
Tracking/Survival: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 12 + 2 = 28
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
What? They don't look that normal. If they did not make the bones...then what did? And why ain't it attacking the birds?
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
Tariqs player failed his reading comprehension check last night, but he gets one a day.
"Uhhh, on second thought, those are not natural animals. I don't know what's going on here."
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
No worries. I did the same and was ready to make them dinner! LoL.
DMummy |
I'm going to assume it was supposed to be K:A for the sake of time! You get one question.
Shad identifies them as stymphalidies, a rare bird with razor sharp beaks and feathers known for hunting and eating humanoids. Typically they hunt from on high - the body was apparently picked clean recently since they're (momentarily) on the ground.
Thorrpe's Shadow |
I thought the bow was magical
But Arcana is more or less the same so I will go with any defenses we should know about?
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
"I ain't sure they are even animals at all. Based on Shad's description, I definitely ain't eating them. ."
Assuming Shad shared....
Dwalindor looks to the other three.
"Do we go around them? The bridge may be our only place to cross."
Thorrpe's Shadow |
Let's just kill them. They eat people. Just don't use fire
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
What lions? Where are pigs? I thought we were talking about these strange birds! Dwalindor exclaims.
So do we kill em or not?
Thorrpe's Shadow |
Noonen wants to wait until they attack us first.
Shad adjusts his hat, and takes out one of his metamagic rods to be prepared
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Noonan and Tariq?
Dwalindor does not approach yet...
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
"Well . . . If they just ate maybe they won't be hungry for us. Although since they are all on the ground we might be able to web them all or something?"
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Well....rats! Dwalindor says without thinking.
He looks at the others.
You know I ain't the finesse one, right?
Thorrpe's Shadow |
Dwalindor I think lead blades is probably still active
Thorrpe's Shadow |
Shad opens with a fireball
10d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 3, 4, 5, 3, 5, 4, 5) + 3 = 41 DC 20
Who wants turkey dinner?
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
"Heh, you know I was just going to ask you if you had Fireball memorized. I might as well take a couple of pot shots too."
Tariq quick-draws his bow and launches two shafts at the lead bird.
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
DMummy |
Shad as a reminder you learned they were immune to fire damage. Are you sure you want to use fireball?
Both of Tariq's arrows hit, causing the birds to sqwak.
Initiative (Dwalindor): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Initiative (Noonan): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Initiative (Shad): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Initiative (Monster): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Initiative (Monster): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
After Dwalindor moves bird's go first.
Thorrpe's Shadow |
I forgot that. I'll do something else
Thorrpe's Shadow |
Shad will instead cast weapon of awe on Dwalindors weapon
Who's your best friend Dwalindor?
You transform a single weapon into an awe-inspiring instrument. The weapon gains a +2 sacred bonus on damage rolls, and if the weapon scores a critical hit, the target of that critical hit becomes shaken for 1 round with no Saving Throw.
This is a mind-affecting fear effect. A ranged weapon affected by this spell applies these effects to its ammunition.
You can’t cast this spell on a natural weapon, but you can cast it on an unarmed strike.
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
He will take the weapon of awe, but I thought we were marching for hours up river...so leadblades would be gone? or no?
Now we are talking! Thanks Shad!
Dwalindor smiles as his weapon looks AWEsome.
Amanda! SMASH! RHAHHHAHHRRR! as he whips himself into a rage.
He will charge the bird on the bridge (moves to O-6 10' range swing).
+1 Adm furious earthbreaker, rage, charge, pa/FF : 1d20 + 15 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 15 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 27 vs FF AC?

Oh I missed the 4 hours thing
DMummy |
Three of the stymphalides take to the air (marked by red dot on map) and seem to fling their feathers at the dwarf.
What would be comical turns deadly for the poor dwarf as razor sharp metal feathers fling themselves at him.
Attack (Ranged): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Damage (Ranged): 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Damage (Bleed): 1d6 ⇒ 3
Attack (Ranged): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

Damage (Ranged): 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Damage (Bleed): 1d6 ⇒ 2
The fourth meanwhile wades forward and hops up to buffet Dwalindor with feathers, claws and beak.
Attack (Beak): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31
Damage (Beak): 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Attack (Talons): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
Attack (Wings): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
So 1 bleed damage and a total of 23 other damage after DR.
Go!
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
135 - 11 - 8 - 9 - 11 + 16 - 3 = 109
So assuming he takes 3hp bleed at the start of his turn, is down 26hp so 109/135 raging
What in blazes are these things? Metal birds? BAHHHH!
He steps back and swings again at the one on the bridge with him.

Dwalindor the Pahmet |
I have weapon of Awe included +2.
Keep in mind the CLW will likely fail...and any spell with a saving throw, if that changes your action, Shad.
Thorrpe's Shadow |
oh that works on things that are harmless as well?
In that case Shad will cast displacement on himself instead
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
"Holy begeezi! I did not see that coming. These must be the most deadly foul in existence!"
he casts lead blades on himself!

Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Actually it looks like the talons hit?...or the wings...will assume the wings are good, otherwise it will make a mess with the image counts
Dwalindor is relieved some of the images absorb hits...even as a few break through and slash his skin.

Effects:
Noonan moves 4 squares north and one square west and casts Boneshatter at the one north of Dwal
The target’s bones (or exoskeleton) splinter, dealing 1d6 points of damage per caster level (maximum 15d6) to the target, which is also exhausted for 1 minute per caster level from the pain and exertion of the transformation.
If the target succeeds at its save, it takes half damage and is fatigued rather than exhausted. Objects made of bone, chitin, or similar material take half again as much damage (+50%) from this spell. This spell has no effect on a creature that has neither a skeleton nor a hard carapace.
Boneshatter DC 19: 10d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 5, 6, 4, 6, 2, 4, 6, 5) = 44
Thorrpe's Shadow |
Shad moves along the path 20 feet and casts Wandering Star Motes DC 21 at the nearest bird thingy
This should slow them down a bit Dwalindor!
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
That will be good, Shad. These dang birds are mighty persistent!
Dwalindor turns back from Shad and scowls at the birds in front of him.
Hopefully the one on the bridge dropped...but the airborne ones will be more of a problem to hit
DMummy |
Fortitude: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
The bird heroically tries to resist the damage done by Dwalindor's flashing hammer only to die to Noonan's terrifying magic that shatters it from the inside - it seems to collapse in on itself as its hard feathers prevent the flesh from shredding and it collapses with a tinkle of metal into a oozing pile on the ground.
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
The nearest bird (M8) becomes distracted and startst whirling in the air trying to chase the motes.
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 It's dazed for 2 rounds.
Tariq?
Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
Sorry, my post got eaten.
"Shad! Can I you give me images?! I need to get in there, but otherwise my tiger and I will be sliced to ribbons!"
I assume from the map none of them are on the ground. If there was one on the ground I would charge it.
Seeing the dazed bird, Tariq launches three arrows at it with the help of Blessing of Fervor?
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Blessing of Fervor: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Tariq watches the path of his arrows to see if they affect the metal creature.
DMummy |
All three arrows hit the bird at L6, and it shrieks as the points dig their way past the steel feathers.
The birds squawk and one dives towards the middle, unleashing its own light as if to counter shad - the sun concentrates on its feathers and then blinds all of you with a tremendous flash.
DC 19 Fortitude Save or you blinded for 1d6 ⇒ 2 minutes. That's 20 rounds folks.
The other one who's not dazed swoops past to circle behind you and flings feathers at Shad.
Attack (Feathers): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15 Is that a hit at the moment Shad?
