Adventure Path Rise of the Runelords - Strange incidents in Sandpoint: a goblin raid, shadows of the past, a serial killer...what other perils do the brave Sandpoint Saviours have to master?
Will save 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Kanyk slams his hands over his ears as the creature roars, feeling the wall of noise pass through him and then echo repeatedly inside his skull.
While both of you aren't overly affected by the unearthly sound, the massive creatures begin to crawl in your direction, but since they are so slow outside the water, you might still have a chance of getting up before they reach you...
If both of you pass their climb DC 10 checks, you will make it up again in time.
From a meta stand point, this may very well get us killed. From a Kanyk standpoint, I ain't gonna run away from any overgrown seal. Running away isn't the Shoanti thing to do really is it? Nope.. pretty sure big ass seals are not one of the seven fears.
Kanyk glances at the cave entrance and then at Harry and seeing the question in his eyes, pulls his Earthbreaker from his back and charges the nearest Bunyip, baring his teeth at the thing and bringing his trusty hammer slamming down on to its thick skull with as much weight and muscle behind it as he can manage.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 262d6 + 9 ⇒ (6, 3) + 9 = 18 Move up to the closest Bunyip and attack, not actually charging unless it is too far to move.

I promise to toast you, should we all come out of this alive! In strength and steel! Onward, by Cayden's thirst, as if the kegs were in danger!"
Celestra climbs down the rope now uncertain if she made the right choice to take off her chain mail shirt.
Is it ten feet down to the water from where the rope is, or is it ten feet deep water? Do we see what's going on up on the surface, i.e., can I cast spells and target the bunyips from the ledge?
I redid the map. You can start targetting the bunyips from the edge of the hole once they enter squares that are linked to the circle on the map. The rope is located at Kanyk's square
Kanyk leans away from the first set of gnashing jaws only to move straight into the path of the second and lets out a grunt of pain as the serrated teeth punch through his battered armour. Hearing Nieve's concerned yell Kanyk shouts a reply as he feels the warm trickle of blood running down his back.
"All good! Only a scratch!"
Round 2 action (because I always seem to miss the time of day when everyone can post lots.)
Attacking the same bunyip as last time.
Ignoring the beast behind him and trusting Harry to keep it occupied, Kanyk heaves his hammer two handed above his head and brings it hurtling down at the already injured Bunyip's massive neck.
The wounded bunyips both roar in pain and anger, never have they encountered humanoids so strong as these two. As suddenly both monster's eyes turn red, the experienced ranger Kanyk knows at once that they have entered blood rage!
Nievbe still has his rd1 action left

"Elyn,"Nieve murmurs, forming a seal and symbol with his fingertips. The curative energy resonates as it creates a silver sheen in the palm of his hand; the weasel peers out of the hood and squeals curiously.
"I trust you. Go down the rope with Ser Karlan. If any of them are severely hurt..."
He lays two fingers on Elyn's face as the silver sheen shifts onto the weasel; Elyn's fur is shimmering faintly, and he lets out a soft squeak, nodding."Go."
Elyn jumps onto the rope, latching onto it with surprising strength; he rushes after Ser Karlan...
Round 1; Nieve casts Cure Moderate Wounds and transfers it to Elyn (Deliver touch spells Familiar feature). Elyn uses his 20 climb speed to climb down the rope. Round 2; Nieve and Elyn will delay until somebody is severely hurt.
Karlan has reached the bottom of the grotto and is now able to attack. Elyn surries around, ready to heal anyone that might get severely wounded by the raging bunyips.

Kanyk roars in pain as the Bunyip manages to sink it's massive teeth into his thigh and uses the long handle of his hammer to shove the beast away before swinging an uppercut at it's gnashing jaws.

Oh Cay, Kanyk is already hurt! Get me down there quickly and safely so I can help him!"
Round 3
Celestra slings her crossbow over her shoulder and starts her quick descent down the ropes. She will take a 10 on her climb check. Her move is normally 40' due to her travel domain. Does this help get her down the rope any faster?

Coming down the rope Karlan sees the creatures and tries to keep from laughing.
"Probably pretty majestic and predatory looking in the water." He says as he moves in blades swinging. "Right now I feel like we're being assaulted by fat legless cows."
The Bunyip Kanyk has been attacking still not down? If that last attack hit I think I've done a grand total of 50 damage so far. 1st round 18, 2nd round 14 and 3rd round 18 again.
With the foe at his back gone Kanyk takes a step back to clear his hammer and then swings it to smash straight back into the monster's face.

Climbing down to the watery floor, Celestra expresses her joy. "Cayden be praised! We are victorious and alive to tell the tale! Although I regret, I was not much help to you in that last battle. My bolts went astray when I tried to shoot down those viscous sea beats. I guess I am not use to shooting at moving targets! My dear Kanyk, you were remarkable down here. You took down those fiends faster than it took me to slide down this rope! Come here and let me see to those wounds. You got a nasty little bite there."
Celestra moves over to Kanyk and gently lays her hands on the half-orc and casts Cure Moderate Wounds on him.
"Let the wounds heal and the heart mend!"
Heals Kanyk 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 7) + 3 = 12
"Nice work, my friends. We will have to celebrate tonight!"
The cave extends to the east and west (white lines on the map) but you have to realize that there is not way to get over to the head of the monumental statue. But you do notice a wooden bridge leading from the briar labyrinth above you over to the Goblin's headquarters.
The deepest point of the cave, close to where you fought the creatures is about 10 feet deep and a massive pile of bones lies on the gound of this underwater pit.

""Bit early for that. We've got a demon witch to slay."
"Hehe. Naturally, I wan't suggesting we have a party right now. Clearly we are in the middle of an adventure. I am just so pleased that we have slain those monstrous creatures so quickly before anyone got too hurt."
Hmm? Note to self: These guys are a serious bunch. Try not to mention celebration to them while they are concentrating.
"I don't... "Nieve looks at the rope, and at the great distance to the waters below. He takes a deep breath, touching his forehead."Are you sure I... I have to?"
"We are all safe Mr Nieve, and it's safe enough for you too..."
"Anyway, the path ahead looks a bit less usefull, perhaps we could double back and check the other side? Dont suppose too many of us would be keen swimming across that channel"
"Well while we work out a plan, I wonder if this place might serve as a lair for us, I'm guessing the Goblins weren't keen on tackling these creatures, so they won't be keen on sticking their faces down here after us either"
Harry starts looking for any decent dry spots that coulod be used to rest or set up 'camp'. He is also looking at teh debris and bones, are they washed up as a tidal line, or left by the creatures at random, and not affected by the surges... and what sort of bones ARE they?
I posted this in the HoL ooc... but since we just got this thread up, I'll put it here instead.
I'm also going to be gone this weekend, I just found out. A friend offered me a free ticket and ride to a music festival this weekend really last minute and I can't really refuse. I'll be back on Tuesday, and will be around for another 12 hours or so.
Yeah off work til 6 June, but no strenuous activiy til at least the end of June. A bit disappointed as I was supposed to have a great activity coming up, and I also had a few sporting events to compete in.
Sort of gutted about it really...if you'll pardon the pun.
The trip was a slog into the cold cold winter in five weeks, carrying heavy loads and a fair way from proper help for almost three weeks, and the sports involve a lot of body contact, not really a good idea :)
Kirk is curious about the magical dagger we found, and once it's revealed he'll probably ask for it if it's useful at all.
Bonzo will continue helping to reel in Kyren, as will Donna, but he doesn't have any immediate concerns other than that. Donna, however, really wants to smash something to oblivion with her new hammer.
S'mores! 2 faves- use those dark chocolate topped cookies instead Hersheys and graham crackers or go all american with melted marshmallows on Oreo cookies : P
Sorry I've disappeared over the last few days. Got an exam this afternoon and I disconnected my network cable to stop myself getting distracted. I freaking hate revision.

Hi Zyren,
Have you thought about how the Tzarek tournament is going to work? When I created it as a skill for Kyren I invested 1 rank in it as a profession and made it a class skill for him based on intelligence. Kyren is +7 (+1 rank, +3 class skill, +3 Int). I certainly have not play tested this idea, but I was thinking about three phases to each game. Opening, Middle and Endgame. Each phase of the game gets a Tzarek skill check. Each check is rolled opposed by my opponent's roll. For the opening, every three points over my opponent's skill check grants me +1 bonus on my roll for the middle game. Likewise, every three points over my opponents roll in the middle game grants a +2 bonus for the endgame. Ultimately, the winner of the endgame is considered the winner of the game. This does put a lot of weight to the endgame, but it may be very exciting. The one thing I am not sure about is how to add the wager portion of the game. Should the stakes change as the game progresses, or simply keep the money out until a final winner is determined at the end? Feel free to do what you want, but these are just some ideas. Let me know if you have some other ideas.
LOL yeah, umm might be a bit underequipped for that kind of crazy :p
dmz:
Yeah he's been pretty busy with his study of late, and not a lot of game time etc... we were due for a tabletop session this weekend, now cancelled of course as I got a bit waylaid! I am feeling a lot better already, just the incisions are a bit uncomfortable, and getting used to eating as I was nil by mouth (no food or water) for four days as they flushed my system so just eating slowly and lightly
If its handy, can we get a breakdown of the unidentified loot so that we know what is still outstanding later? Just in summary format. I think there are a few items we have no idea about from the Count as well as possibly earlier?
I assumed Vic levelled up, so will do up the stats.
I have put a few skill points into he developing more along the Courtesan aspect (Proff:Courtesan) and (Know:Nobility) to reflect her growing understanding of matters of State etc.
I read the UM guide, and although I did like some of the stuff it doesn't really fit. Deception is still really where it is at for her so I saw no need to change.
On the other hand the party might find themselves more...gifted by Fortune...or is it the 'Devils Luck'? eh Solaric?
