DM Voice's Envoy of Geb - An Undead Campaign (Inactive)

Game Master Mark Sweetman

The Shadow Claw has sent you forth as a vanguard of Geb to seek a book that may hold the key to where Nex has been hiding all these years...

Minor Crab-beast

Gathroc - yeah, still a bit much for my liking.

The concept behind the blade of darkness would be to add an ability for you to store 'soul points' in the weapon. You'd get the points through crit confirms or killing blows, and can then use the points for effects much the same as ki points or the like.

Is that snippet of interest? - if so I can splat up something more tangible later.

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

Haha, that's awesome and very similar to something I did for my vampire the masquerade conversion.

Paging Dr Daemon and Mr Gabriel - please report to the OR.

Really sorry about that, I have been using my sweetmates internet for the better part of 6 mo and he is moving out now, so he killed his interwebs, effectively killing mine. Today is the first day I have been able to get over to a friends to check on stuff in about 4 days.

No worries however I should now be back to my once a day posts.

Going to boons, I am interested in the boost to one of my spellcasting classes by 3, it would probably make more sense backstory wise to boost cleric spells since that is my 'primary' class. I feel it would be more beneficial overall to boost my wizard side however. Expanding that train of thought, I don't have my books so I can't double check right this min but I think that would give me access to permancy as a spell, what are your feelings on the use of it, ie permant bull strength to boost my lagging strength score?

Minor Crab-beast

Heh - NP Daemon. I'd be ok with an item that allowed you to switch between boosting one side or the other when you prepped spells each day, so you could retain flexibility.

As to Permenancy and spells - I am open to it in a controlled fashion. However according to PRD, Bulls Strength isn't a legal permanency target without DM Fiat.... however I have no problems with you casting it on yourself with a 5k gp cost sink.

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

Cool, so are we talking an item with a high level cleric and wizard soul bound to that I have to use while preparing spells in the morning or is this going to be a tome that has secret knowledge?

Minor Crab-beast

Which would you prefer?

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

Whichever is easier for you and wont detract from the game.

Minor Crab-beast

Puts a slight smile upon his benevolently evil visage... I haz an idea.

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

Voiceless,
How are we doing HP?

Also,
What was the ruling on favored class bonuses? Are we using them when we level or not?

Minor Crab-beast

HP is the same as it was for character generation (half round up), and the ruling on favored class from memory was for class levels only - and you have the options available from your progenitor race.

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

I realized that I forgot to roll HD. 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Minor Crab-beast

Ignac's New Bardiche:

+4 Keen Thundering Bardiche (plus secret stuff under DM control for now)

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

Sweet, I'll modify my character sheet to show the changes.

Also, I'm caught between selling my previous weapon and kepeing it as a backup. I'm edging towards keeping it as a backup, unless the party needs money, someone else wants it, or my new weapon asks that it be gotten rid of.

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

Ah, weapon jealousy :-P

Minor Crab-beast

Gabriel just needs to lobby going after the werewolves so he can get a more pimped out wagon.

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

That's what I was thinking, myself. We can kill a few and get you some bad-ass Werewolf claw, and keep your other vessel for when you need to be sneaky.

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

The big werewolf sounds look a perfect target; we could always try sending them into disarray by taking out the leader...

...not to mention Gabriel would not mind one of his hands :-D

Minor Crab-beast

Point to remember if you chase after the were-guys... in my world, it's not just human sized creatures that get lycanthropy...

And no worries on the post monster eating your 're-birth', happens to the best of us :P

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

Heh. I am totally expecting it to be at least some sort of giant :-)

I did wonder a bit about why the main thread was 'quiet', but put it down to start-of-the-year slowing... :-/

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

I am going to field some plans for my character and update my spell list sometime this weekend hopefully, I have a bit of time.

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

Hey Voice, my friend is trying to get started with PBPs. Would you be willing to accept him if he made an interesting character?

Minor Crab-beast

Ignac - I'm open to it, though will need to think it through a bit. Is he specifically interested in this one?

Also, is he only new to PbPs? - ie. has he got some pathfinder / 3.5 under his belt? Reason for asking is that as a high-level PbP this might be a steep learning curve if he doesn't have prior experience.

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

He was looking over my PBPs and asked if any had openings, and I remembered that a few people dropped from this one. We tried an IRL undead game before, but it degenerated, so he saw this and got interested.

He's got plenty of both.

We used to play high-level gestalt, so he should be able to get this just fine. He's been resisting PBPs until our mutual friend started one on here and we got into it. Since then, he's been curious about others.

Minor Crab-beast

Yeah - we're at 5 at present, and I think I could easily handle 6.

First step would be ask him to pop into this OOC and say hi. Then we can start seeing what might sit well with him and the rest of the group.

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

Not a problem.

Hello Voice and co, I'm Ignac's buddy.
Very new to PbP's on the Paizo boards, but I've done plenty of 3.5 and pathfinder (DnD and RP were kinda my life from 11-15)
Like he said, I'm interested in joining a PbP to kind of just...learn how to do an RP thread that involves dice.
If you don't mind, I'm going to go ahead and read through the gameplay and recruitment (for char gen rules) to get a feel for your campaign.
Looking forward to losing my life and becoming part of Geb :)

Minor Crab-beast

Heh - Hathin says hi... though he still wants to eat your pig :P

Let me know when you've started getting an idea of what sort of character you might like to try.

I'll conjure you an illusory pig on a silver platter :P

Well as of right now, I'm thinking of vampire of some nature.
In Classic Horrors Revisited there's Ancient Youth and Noble Dead vampires, and those drew my attention. If not those, then standard Vampire. Keep in mind, both of those special vampire types do NOT have a listed CR adjustment as far as I'm seeing, so that's something of note.
Class wise, I believe I'd like to try out Magus. Never even considered touching Magus until now.

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

Magus is a lot of fun, I am playing a Kensai Magus in another of Voiceless' games. If you want any pointers let me know.

Also, those two variants are +0 to their CR.

Grigore Necula Dragos Veaceslav VI:
A quiet and lilting voice, that almost sounds loving: Do you remember the years past, Grigore? Imagine, if you will, a happy family of five; The father and mother, two daughters and a son. Now give them wealth, a position of power, and security for their family's future. Now seduce the son. Take his soul. Give him fangs, a thirst, an unquenchable desire to destroy the things closest to him. Imagine the grief, the pain, the hatred for himself that the boy felt. A raspy hiss now: Poor poor little child, torn away from the bosom of his loving family by his own claws. Again the sweet, soothing tone. Remember the gift that I gave you.
Grigore did not sleep dreamless through the daylight like the others of his kind. No, the nightmares came every time he closed his eyes. Nightmares of a snakes eyes and smiling ruby lips forcing horrid memories into his mind.
It has been 700 years since he was brought into unlife. 300 years of depression, regretting his crime and punishment. 200 years of acceptance, trying to forge a new life for himself. 200 years of insanity, and realization that everything is futile; Blood is the only thing that matters anymore. And blood is exactly what he gets in return for his servitude to the Blood Lords of the great nation of the dead.

A quick background for the vampire, got a bit more in my head, but nothing really definitive (I don't know much at all about Geb, I'll learn from Ignac).
Figured I'd post that, if only because I'm awake at 6am :)
EDIT: Posted as the kid for a second there!

Minor Crab-beast

Information on Geb

I'm not that picky about background, as long as you've a reasonably defined personality that's fine with me.

You will be in service to a Ravener (Golarion's Dracolich) called the Shadow Claw. Recently made a Blood Lord, though that status is currently under threat.

Oh, and I can post a full character build out if you'd like :) worked on it all night and I'm eager to show my cards.

  • This does not include any gear at all, hence the lack of combat stats listed.
I picked up Familiar as an arcana, and the Improved Familiar feat. If allowed, I'd like to take a Raktavarna as my familiar. If not, then an Imp is fine too. If you'd rather not Improved Familiar be there, lemme know and I can certainly take that out and replace it with something else. (Maybe Leadership for a blood herd? :D)
HP listed is assuming average per HD (4.5 per die, took 4 then 5 every other level, ending with 4).
Also removed the descriptions on EVERYTHING, as...that'd make this hella long(er than it is). I can provide links/spoilers for each one individually if needed.
Oh, and spells were chosen non-retroactively (17 int at level 1), made sure to pick Arcana and feats as appropriate for leveling up as well.

Actually...In hindsight...I want to take out Spell Focus for another Arcane Pool...putting my pool per day at 14.
If edits are okay now, I'd like to pop that on there :)

    Minor Crab-beast

Raktavarna as familiar is fine - I actually just handed one out in one of the other PbPs I'm DMing here as well so I'm familiar with the familiar...

Leadership as a general rule I'm fairly leery of - and there are other ways to pick up followers (such as the Shadow Claw's rent-a-wraith service).

When you update to the profile, I like to see basic descriptions of each ability - doesn't need to be the full text, just showing what the mechanical impact is to the game.

For spells, retroactive is fine - and you can buy anything you want with your wealth to scribe in too.

Haven't had a chance to look over in full - and probably won't get to for a day or two. There'll be a little delay before I can bring you in to the PbP organically anyway.

So, shall I do wealth as per the recruitment thread's post, or is there a post that I missed that gave clear equipment guidelines?
Also, how would you care for HP to taken care of? Rolled, average round up, round down, or average 4.5 as I've done?

    Minor Crab-beast

HP are either rolled or you take average round up - your choice, though you are stuck with the results of what you choose.

Wealth will be as per 11th level character. The others will be a bit ahead of you, but not too much.

If I might ask to make minor tweaks, I'd like to drop 5 ranks of Stealth for 5 ranks of Perform Dance (This is NOT for dervish dance!), and to drop Spell Focus: Evocation for another Extra Arcane Pool.

For HP, I'll go with average, rounded up, for 5hp per HD, as I never have great luck with HD.
11th is 82,000g, keyed in and spending :)

Grigore can hardly hold back his laughter at the thought of the beautiful dancing he will share with Geb.

Male Vampire (Previously Human) Magus 10

I hope that your foes have more than enough blood for me, Voice. It would be most unsightly if I were to have to go out of my way to feed again.
Ready for your look-see, boss man :)

Greetings to the dead here in the Crypt, I hope that I can bring a bit of crimson magic to your world. I've read essentially your entire game, and you guys are awesome :) I would thoroughly enjoy playing with all of you.

    Minor Crab-beast

    Heh - that's a fair bit of reading ;)

    Grigore:
Would you be willing to be an enemy of one of the existing groups that the party is chasing down? - that gives you an appropriate in to the campaign so Daemon can pick you up while on his wanderings.

Your choice which group and what the grudge is - though I can help with that if needs be.

Chuck up a dot on the main thread with Grigore so that the campaign shows up in your tracker.

    Minor Crab-beast

Also - for the other players, as we've negotiated about 1500 posts I thought a short survey would be in order if you don't mind:

    1. What has been your favorite part of the PbP so far?

    2. What has been your least favorite part of the PbP so far?

    3. What do I need to do better?

    4. Any other comments?

    Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

    1. I never get to play an evil character, and this PbP has given me an opportunity to play a very specific kind of Evil. Undead. Specifically, though, I'd have to say that any time we've been able to really plan things, like right now, I have fun tactically strategizing.

    2. Nothing I can think of really bothered me.

    3. Uhh....

    4. Hmmmm....Good Job.

    Dee Ehm:
That sounds like a great (and easy) way to float into the group.
For an enemy, I am thinking...the werewolves are my chosen prey, for the reason that they stole my previous chosen prey to be their dinner. Nothing more, nothing less. A simple vendetta suited for a blood addict.
I can stealth rather easily in Bat form, and I had the thought of me noticing Gabriel and Vesta while they scout and approaching them. Though they're extremely stealthy as well...
If the reason doesn't seem like enough, I'm certain I can figure something else out. Like for instance, the part of my backstory where I said I've been working for the Blood Lords. If you'd like to bring that into play, it's entirely up to you on that.
Also, I've got the &gameplay=last page favorited, so I can hop to it rather quickly. Still haven't gotten the hang of the Paizo boards, but I can make do with other tricks (yay at having 5 homepages!)

    Minor Crab-beast

    Damien / Grigore:
I'd prefer to have your character join up in Mechitar if that's alright. Once Daemon is finished at market, he'll be scoping for enemies of the werewolves and other groups - so I can slot you in there.

I'll give you a few tidbits of info that you can share in character as well.

    Dee Ehm:
That's more than fine with me, just lemme know where you want him, and Grigore will fly on over :)

    Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

    Join me and live forever!!

    Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

I'm already going to live forever.
