Tarin shakes the beast's blood from his blade, then after a quick glance upwards to the mezzanine overhead moves swiftly to the ladder.

I'll double move to the ladder, taking a direct route and using agile feet to ignore difficult terrain again - I'm hoping it will get me up the ladder, or close to it.

Round 4:

Initiative Order: Sati, Gin, Seif, Xanyon, Mohgwier, Pugwampis, Muqaq, and Tarin.

Sati takes aim at one of the Archer gremlins again with her bow and pushes the lever. Unfortunately, the misloaded bolt is jammed in place and will not budge. The massive pressure of the the released bowstring splinters the jammed bolt, peppering her face and arms with shards. Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3. The crossbow is not ruined, but will not be properly loadable until the fractured arrow tip is pried free of the armature. Crossbow gains the broken condition until the arrow tip is removed: Craft, Disable Device, or STR check, standard action. You can attempt to use it as is at a -2 on all attacks.

Gin, Seif, and Mohgwier head for the ladder as Xanyon takes aim at one of the archers. A gout of smoke and a boom thumderclap issue from him as he fires off another shot. This time his aim is perfect, and the shot shears the head clean off the middle pugwampi.

After one of their number is killed, and they see all the people on the floor heading for the ladder, the remaining two pugwampis on the choir platform disappear from view to all but Xanyon, heading for the top of the ladder. The rest of those up above, scamper and run, the two on the north platform running over the beams as though they were sidewalks and not a bridge over a 20 ft drop. The two on the west choir balcony move to the eastern edge, and draw bows. They fire, aiming for Gin and Seif. Gin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21, Seif: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21. Both shots hit, for 1 pt NL damage each.

Muqaq sees one of the creatures running up overhead, and it comes within his range. He throws a bolt of fire, which hits the creature in an arm and shoulder, despite the cover granted by the beam he runs on. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14. He loses his balance, and falls from the beam, 20 ft to the ground. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8. He hits a pew with a bounce, and then lies unmoving on the old wood. At Y5.

Tarin dashes to the ladder and starts up it at a leap. He makes it up about 15 ft before the pugwampi's act, each appearing in the opening above with a rock raised above their head which they proceed to try to brain Tarin with. Attack 1: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 1 = 22, Attack 2: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8. The first hits him solidly on the head. Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1. Make a climbing check, DC 11 to stay on the ladder. If you fall take 1d6 + 1d3 ⇒ (4) + (2) = 6 damage, unless you make an acrobatics DC 15, in which case you only take the 2 damage from the d3.

Mohgwier will move up the ladder as quickly as possible, trying to make the top before the Pugwampi's can react.

Current Map

Sati: Yes you can (though not with those rolls). If you use a raw roll though the DC will be higher. This round it doesn't matter, but next round you will need to choose which skill you would like to try.

Regarding Mohgwier, he will be able to make the top, but will probably provoke an AoO to get off the ladder. On another note, I've seen videos of dogs climbing ladders, but it still makes a funny image to picture Mohgwier going up that way.

Tarin you have enough speed to get up with a single move action, but last time the gremlin at the top had a readied action that he used when you were high enough that your fall would hopefully hurt. If a creature had another readied action, it wouldn't really matter how fast you climbed, as he'd use the action to try and make you fall again. This round, Mohgwier goes before the critter, so he'll probably be preoccupied on your turn.

Gin still waiting for you action.

Hp: 9/11

Nah, just checking how far I could move vertically, stone-throwing beasties aside :)

Current Map

Current Map

Round 5:

Initiative Order: Sati, Gin, Seif, Xanyon, Mohgwier, Pugwampis, Muqaq, and Tarin.

Sati struggles with her crossbow, trying to free the remaining fragment of bolt and bodkin. Unfortunately, her struggles are to no avail.

Gin looks to his companions, uncertain what to do with the pugwampi guarding the top of the ladder.

Seif switches to his sling, looking to the balcony for targets.

Xanyon aims again, and kills in a single shot the second pugwampi at the top of the ladder.

Mohgwier scrambles up the ladder, gaining the top without too much trouble.

The Pugwampis look for targets of their arrows. The one on the narrow beam near the middle of the room takes aim at Muqaq, and fires. 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8, but misses. The two on the choir balcony to the east draw again and take aim at their targets. 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 71d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10. This time, all of the shots go wide.

Muqaq targets one of the pugwampi's on the balcony with a dazing spell. Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24. Unfortunately, he resists.

Tarin climbs the ladder quickly; making the top without difficulty now that the gremlins up top are both dead.

Once up top, Tarin sees the rest of the Pugwampi community up on top of the cloth platform. One of them, ever so slightly larger than the others, rises from a throne seemingly made of rubbish. Unlike any of the other jackel-rats, this one wears armour and carries a small, glowing hammer, wielded in both hands. He shouts out in what sounds like a high pitched bellow. "Kutosha ya hii. Ambaye huthubutu siku intrude katika ufalme wangu?

Having spotted Mr Glowhammer when I reached the top, did I still have a standard action to use? If so, I'll cast guidance on myself.

Current Map

Muqaq, you can see the Gremlin on the beams near the center of the room, as well as the two on the far balcony.

Tarin, yes you can still take your standard action if you like, be it guidance, or a move, etc.

Note to all that once up top, moving across the beams will take an Acrobatics DC 15 to move at half speed. You can crawl across them at a quarter speed at a DC 10. If you are hit while on the beams you will need to make another acrobatics check minus the amount of damage taken or lose your balance.

I actually suggest the opposite - take out the minions first, so we remove the 'blanket' unluck effect on the area, and then we can tactically take out the leader at range; as long as we stay *away* from him, we should be outside his 'unlucky aura'...

After all, the last thing we want is for the pugwampi minions to go 'into the woodwork' if the leader is defeated; it would be better to remove their infestation, now, otherwise I see them being a recurring headache :-/

Current Map

Round 5:

Initiative Order: Sati, Gin, Seif, Xanyon, Mohgwier, Pugwampis, Muqaq, and Tarin.

Sati continues to wrestle with her crossbow. She is unable to restore it to working order, but makes her move down the stairs with difficulty, and without slipping.

Gin races up the ladder, to join the others on the top. I've PM'd Gin, but he has not posted since December 28. His most recent post under another alias is January 5. Hopefully he returns soon.

Seif launches a stone, but misses his mark.

Xanyon moves into the room, crossing the stairs slowly, but without falling.

Mohgwier goes slowly across the beam, but takes a few unlucky steps. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 141d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11. She tries to catch herself, scabbling with her claws on the beam, but falls. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 201d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7, Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9. She hits the ground hard, and it hurts.

The pugwampis armed with bows continue to fire, including the one on the central beam, and the two on the eastern balcony. They concentrate their fire on those on the western balcony, two shots at Tarin, and one at Gin. Tarin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 41d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11, Gin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18. Gin is hit, taking one of the tiny arrows in an arm. 1 NL damage. The rest of the pugwampis seems content to let their enemies come to them.

Muquq works his magic Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6, this time dazing the creature on the central beam.

Tarin moves across the beams with relative ease, appearing graceful as he moves across the narrow expanse. He takes a turn once he reaches the clothed over area, and then steps out to do battle. Once he steps out off the beam, he realizes his error. The tented over areas, though seemingly solid under the tiny feet of Pugwampis, is actually nothing more than cloth draped over rafters. Under his weight, the cloth tears instantly, and he spills through heading rapidly downwards. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 151d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13, 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7. Unable to break his fall, he hits the pews on the ground level, and is knocked unconscious by the impact.

Taking a deep breath, he loads another sling, and takes aim at the same little menace in the choir stall.

Sling: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 or 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18, for 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 Bludgeoning damage.

Round 7:
I made an error in the round count last post and repeated the previous round number. This should be round 7, not round 6.

Initiative Order: Sati, Gin, Seif, Xanyon, Pugwampis, Muqaq, and Tarin.

Sati moves further into the sanctuary, pausing for a moment at the end of a pew, looking for the trap she knows is there. She finds it, but only because she knew it was there already. With a thought, she banishes Mohgwier.

Gin steps to the edge of the choir platform, and throws a shuriken at the gremlin on the center beam. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11. The star unfortunately flies wide.

Seif throws a stone from his sling and strikes the little monster in the chest. The distant cracking of tiny ribs can be heard, and the critter slumps back onto the wooden planks of the balcony.

Xanyon moves in to the side of his fallen comrade. From where he stands he can make out the occasional flicker of movement from hands seen over the edge of the balcony, but from this angle, the creature never seems to present a target. Xanyon keeps his pistol leveled in case one emerges into view. It effectively has full cover from this angle.

The Pugwampis continue their frantic movements. The one on the central beam stands dazed, looking blankly at his bow and arrows, trying to remember what he was going to do with them. The remaining creature on the choir balcony moves to the south, joining his kin on the tarpaulin floor. Those on the section near their "King" get their bows ready, and fire at the only visible target: Gin. 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 151d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 151d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 151d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5. Though the shots are mostly on target, Gin is able to evade them.

Muqaq shuffles forward, cursing and clanking as he pulls the metal trap and chain along with him. He recasts his spell, hoping to keep the creature occupied. Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9. His eyes remain glassy, and he appears to be dazed again.

Tarin stands, the world swimming around him. I reported Tarin was Staggered; the correct term is Disabled. He can take move actions, but if he attempts a standard action, he takes 1 point of damage after completing the action.
