Bright Awn |

Sorry for lateness!
Bright Awn sees the strange fog, hears the web. He knows this is metaphorically but the weave in pure, physical form. He moves surely to meet it.
Free Action: Drop aura of alacrity
Standard Action: Enact aura of defense.
Move Action: Move 30'.
Move to in front of Abaos (between Abaos and Dretchy) and south/below Mr Blinky.
[All in aura +1 dodge bonus to AC]

Ozara "Ozzy" |

You need a fort save vs. the stinking cloud and a combat maneuver/escape artist check to move through the webs.

Bright Awn |

Oh, so Awn is in the s@~+e. Ok, thanks Ozara!
Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 [+1 second sight for 14]
Escape Artist: 1d20 + 2 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 - 1 - 1 = 2 [+2 Dex, -1 armor, -1 shield] [nope]

DM_Scholar |

Bright Awn valiantly vaults into the vexatious vapor, but is blindsides by the spiderwebbing concealed therein. moved him on the map for you
Over in his cell, a decrepit old man dressed in filthy rags has been woken by the fighting.
You hear the sound of someone rattling the bars of a porticullis (it's a sound you're all familiar with) and shouting at the top of their old man lungs. "Let me out of here! I can help you! I'm a healer!" Their voice is scratchy and hoarse.
Dharak looks at Jen and Iorskan helplessly. "The cloud's poisonous?" he asks, a note of worry in his voice. Holding action
Alright guys! We're changing the initiative for this battle somewhat drastically for the second round. NPCs have all been consolidated onto one initiative, and players will either be going before or after them. The new acting order is at the top of the page, or will be moments after this post.
Since this is the second round, type "Round 2" at the tops of your posts, unless you're Guthruc, in which case type "Round 1" because you're still acting on the first round.
Guthruc, Abaos, Bright Awn, and Ozzy are up.

![]() |

Round 2
Double- check me, but the Escape Artist check is a full- round action, which means I'll have to make the Fort save again and then try to escape. I think.
Escape Artist: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Fort Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
With a renewed sense of vigor, Abaos tugs against the strands again- luckily, his earlier struggling had awoken a cricket, which struck a pebble than moved the wed just enough to allow him to escape. A slide of the wrist here, and the long magical cobwebs fell off, and he was free.
Or, well, sort of. The cloud was still there, obscuring everything; he was having trouble seeing, even with his normally excellent eyesight. What the cloud wasn't obscuring was his ears- a rattle of a cage, and a cry for help, was all the lucky gambler needed to confirm who was close by.
"Don't anyone open that cage!" he yells quickly, before ducking his nose back into his shirtsleeve, to avoid the stench.
Clearly, this whole "enter quietly" thing isn't going as planned haha

![]() |

So it does. Didn't read the spell, just the Escape Artist page. Really shouldve read the spell.
Action Edit: Rather than speaking, he'll just attempt to run over to the cage. Best way to make certain people do ask you ask is to do it yourself, right?
Abaos carefully picks his way through the webs, head down and face covered by his sleeve, as he makes his way towards where he saw Happs, Patton, and Sally converge. He happens to stumble upon Ozzy- checking to make certain she's free, he waves her with a quick nod over to the other wall.
When he reaches the area, he quickly bends down, as if to drag the heaving Patton and Sally out of the cloud.
Escape Artist to move through the web: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Guthruc Shic'la |

Round 1
Guthruc, thoroughly annoyed by his inability to move and seeing how many saves I'm going to have to make, enters rage.
fort save against cloud: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
standard: combat maneuver to escape webs: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
move: combat maneuver to move through webs: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Guthruc, strength now regained and enhanced, tears off the webs like sheets of paper and barrels his way through the webs, ripping them apart as he goes. Halfway through the thick of it, he loses momentum, only to surge forth again using his swift runner's shirt that is more or less being worn while being stitched into his amalgam of furs he calls armor.
swift: combat maneuver to move through webs: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
He turns toward where he saw the grotesque figure retreat before the fog obscured everything. He exits the cloud and sees the beast standing there.
acrobatics to avoid aoo and pass through enemy square: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
However, while trying to duck and weave to the other side of the flesh mass, he failed to account for a third arm that sprouted from the creature, if you can call it that, that blocked his path.

DM_Scholar |

Moved your character for you.
Guthruc is surprised to find not only the droopy demon, but a human wizard who was not there a moment ago.
Falgrim Sneeg is a solidly built man in his late twenties or early thirties, who carries a stout pole that looks more like a whacking stick than a wizard's staff, and a hooded cloak that looks more like rogue's than wizard's garb. He was bushy eyebrows, a scarred face, and a contemptuous sneer for the raging orc.
As Guthruc barrels through it's personal space, the child sized stumpy monster's flesh bulges and twists as it retracts it's arm and grows a new one in Guthruc's path.
AoO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Seeing Guthruc stroll past his summoned monster without a care in the world, the wizard puts his whacking stick to could use.
AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
You've taken five points of damage to your DR for this round. Which is over as I type this.
The wizard does not look happy at Guthruc's proximity.

Ozara "Ozzy" |

Round 2:
Ozzy breathes in more of the foul air as she tries to make her way through the webs.
Ozzy Fort save (DC13): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Ozzy Grapple Check to move (DC17): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
While she remains unaffected by the stench, she becomes tangled in the webs. She urges Mr. Blinky onward to go help Guthruc before whoever is responsible for the webs and the stink can do any more to hinder them.
I already rolled Mr. Blinky's grapple check to escape, since it was the only standard action he could make, and it was successful.
Mr. Blinky Fort save (DC13): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Mr. Blinky Grapple Check to move (DC17): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Mr. Blinky takes in a lungful or three (who knows how many lucks such a creature might have?) of the noxious fog. Though it makes his big eyes water, he keeps his composure as he works his way through the sticky strands to leave them and the fog behind. He moves past the both the wizard and (what I assume is) his summoned minion to block any attempt he might make to escape further into the chamber (not that there seems to be anywhere to go, but trapped between Guthruc and Mr. Blinky seems like a particularly bad place for him to be).
Mr. Blinky Athletics Check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 (To move past the ugly guy, who I think has already used his AoO anyway.)
Mr. Blinky Athletics Check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 (To move past the other ugly guy. The wizard one. Not that Mr. Blinky would know that he's a wizard.)
As his big eyes stare menacingly at the wizard (though not menacingly enough to demoralize him, as that would require another standard action) Mr. Blinky puffs out the inhaled fumes through his nose right in the wizard's ugly, scar-covered face, giving him a small taste of his own medicine (again, no mechanical effect, just painting a picture).

Ozara "Ozzy" |

Still round 2, I realized that failing the check means that Ozzy is now grappled, but that she still has a standard action that she can use to try to break free now, rather than waiting until next round...
As Mr. Blinky rushes forward out of sight, Ozzy attempts to free herself of the webs she has become entangled in.
Grapple check to break free (DC17): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

Iorskan |

Iorskan peered as hard as he could into the fog. It sounded like something was happening in there! But it smelled so bad, and there was something sticky inside. He slapped his tail on the ground in frustration as he waited to see if anything came out.

Guthruc Shic'la |

“All things considered,” Falgrim Sneeg says, “this could have gone better.”
When the enemy realizes he messed with the wrong adventure party

Ozara "Ozzy" |

DM_Scholar wrote:“All things considered,” Falgrim Sneeg says, “this could have gone better.”When the enemy realizes he messed with the wrong adventure party
If one of our more diplomatic characters had been able to reach him, he might be given the chance to surrender, but caught between two tanky heavy-hitters (the last place a wizard wants to end up), it may be too late for that. Of course, if he is ready to surrender, dismissing his webs might allow someone willing to accept his surrender to arrive before Guthruc and Mr. Blinky can come to an agreement on who gets to eat which parts of him, and whether they should save any for Iorskan, who (with his draconic weaponry) is otherwise likely to be the next one to arrive...

Bright Awn |

Awn sighs. As if this was going the way anyone expected. The woodborn tries to move north...the vapors do not trouble him, but the web holds him fast...
Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Escape Artist: 1d20 + 2 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 2 - 1 - 1 = 8 [+2 Dex, -1 armor, -1 shield] [nope]

Ozara "Ozzy" |

Awn, you do know that you could be rolling a grapple check with a +4 instead of an escape artist check with a net +0, right? You've been rolling poorly enough on those that it hasn't mattered, but still...
Btw, you actually need two of those. One to break free from the webs you're already stuck in, then another to move through them without getting stuck again.

Guthruc Shic'la |

i thought that's only if he breaks free and wants to wakk through them

DM_Scholar |

Round 2
The noxious vapors are thinning out, they'll be all gone soon. (This is the second round of a spell cast at CL 2; next round the stinking cloud effect is over.)
Falgrim faces off against his two opponents. He opens his mouth, rattling off words in some unknown language while he lashes out with his staff, trying to buy himself some breathing room to complete his spell.
Concentration: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 17
Ozzy knows that casting a spell while actively defending yourself is tricky indeed, which is why she isn't suprised when Sneeg misses a syllable of his incantation in the heat of the moment.
Free action to activate Spellguard Bracers.
Concentration: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19
But to her surprise, despite the missed syllable Sneeg vanishes from sight.
Meanwhile
Abaos can make just make out the old man in the cell through the noxious miasma. The old man can also see Abaos's form through the fog.
"We're on the same side," he pleads with the luckbringer. "We want the same thing; to kill that boy! The Stag Lord." His face is momentarily contorted with rage as he says the name. In a despairing and plaintive voice he begs: "Please. I'm a healer. I can heal you."
He starts suddenly, looking back into the darkness of his cell. Then he presses himself against the bars of his cage and hisses, "The wizard is in here with me." His expression is one of both hatred and of abject terror.
Meanwhile
Ozzy is suddenly on fire.
Take 2d4 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6 fire damage, Ozzy.
A monster made out of some manner of solid fire had materialized right next to her, with her eyes adjusted to the dark of the cloud the elemental was painfully bright to look at, clearly visible even through the miasma.
Fortitude: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
It had seemed surprised by it's hostile surroundings, the constraining webs and the noxious gas. Surprised but not adversely effected.
A high pitched voice had screeched at it:
If you want to pinpoint the square of the high-pitched screeching thing, give me a perception check and I'll adjust it for distance.
And the elemental had happily obliged. As a standard action it had reached into Ozzy's square, igniting the webbing and burning everything the were stuck to. Ozzy's chainmail held the heat in, growing uncomfortably warm.
If I understand the rules correctly, next round the fire will spread from the squares that have been ignited into the squares adjacent. Right now the squares that are on fire are the elemental's square and Ozzy's square. I'll need to find a better way of keeping track of which squares have webs in them and which don't as the fire spreads . . .
Happs' eyes grow wide at the spreading fire. "Move!" he orders. But even through the fog he can tell that there's no way for the archers to follow, they're struggling like flies caught in a web.
Happs grabs Patton, who's closest, and attempts to drag him out bodily.
Aid Another: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Patton to escape: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Sally to escape: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Making utterly no headway as the fire approaches.
Meanwhile
The stumpy fleshy creature attacks Guthruc.
Claw: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Claw: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
to confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
damage: 4d4 + 4 - 8 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 4) + 4 - 8 = 10
While Guthruc was paying attention to the wizard, the droopy monster attacked his legs from behind, where his armor couldn't protect him. It's long, hooked claws and mouth full of teeth draw gouge at his calves and the backs of his knees. Take 10 points of damage, DR accounted for.
Iorskan, Jen, and Guthruc are up.

Iorskan |

His claws heating up with his inner flames, Iorskan ran through the webbing, lighting it beneath him. Getting to the fire elemental, he took a bite at it...
Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Damage: 1d4 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Fire damage...haha...: 1d6 ⇒ 2
...though it was with great hesitation. Wouldn't biting something made out of fire hurt? Fire usually didn't bother him, but still...

Jen Undrell |

Round 2:
Ah, Nine Hells.
The dragon has run in to the fog in a flash of fire and Jen's skin prickles uncomfortably with her newfound vulnerability. She's exposed to a flank now, or, for that matter, any creatures that might emerge from the fog.
Still, anything could be in there and it seems far more dangerous to risk incapacitation in it. And she knows that few possess the means to truly high-level sorcery, so the cloud will likely dissipate in moments.
She moves up to the edge of the fog so that she'll be able to rush in as soon as the spell ends.
I also feel bad about not jumping into the stinking cloud but... it really wouldn't make sense in character. :/

Guthruc Shic'la |

perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
"Magic man coward! Use fake magic so guthruc no see magic man! Coward! Guthruc spit on name!"
Thinking the mage a coward, he spits where their body was only moments ago and turns towards their summoned abomination.
"Magic man no run?" Guthruc gives a bloodthirsty smirk "Magic man stupid coward..."
He swings his club at the floating saliva
to hit: 1d20 + 3 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 7 - 1 = 24
damage: 1d10 + 10 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 10 + 3 + 1 = 17

Ozara "Ozzy" |

So as I understand it, ONLY Ozzy's square and the elemental's have burned. The surrounding squares will burn next round. In that case... Ozzy feels the wave of flame wash over, singing her skin. In front of her, she sees the source of the fire flickering through the stinking haze.
Fort save (DC13): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
As the fire spreads around her, she knows that a move in any direction will just put her back in the flames, so she stands her ground next to the fiery being, preparing herself to dodge any more flames that come her way. (Standard: Total defense.)
Mr. Blinky listens for the movement of the disappearing wizard before lashing out.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
If he locates him (or if Guthruc made contact, thereby letting Mr. Blinky know that the wizard is still in that square), full attack on his square. Otherwise, he'll guess that the wizard has retreated to somewhere against the south wall, take a 5ft step that direction, and attack each of the three squares along the wall he can reach, bite in the center, claw to the southwest, then claw to the southeast. Of course, if any of those hit something, any remaining attacks will go to the same square.
Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 211d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 181d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 241d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

![]() |

Ok, so with the NPC block initative, we can all go, correct? Just wondering, since only Iorskan, Guthruc, and Jen were named.
Abaos slowly walks over to the bars of the cage, stopping just short of where the man would be able to reach him. "Your name is Nugrah, correct?" he asks slowly. quietly. "I've heard about you. From Bokken."
He pauses to let the words sink in. "You're the Stag Lord's father, correct? What did you have to do to get him to throw you in here? And, yes, I'm sure you are a healer. Takes a bit of healing to be a necromancer, I'd imagine." An involuntary shudder runs through him, and he takes a step back.
"No, I don't think I'm letting you out. Not yet, anyways. If he's in there, holler when the knife goes in. The blood will give me an idea of where he is, and I'll do my best to save you. I will." He adds emphasis to the last words, speaking with finality.
He readies an action to move and unlock the doors if the man actually does slump over, dying.

DM_Scholar |

After spitting on Magic Man's name (quite the fitting name he has, too) Guthruc pounds the hapless dretch with his greatclub.
Abyssal "Oh bother," it moans as the orc's club hammers Abaos' starknife into it's skull with a sound like a starknife being hammered into a skull.
Rather than die properly, the lumpy monster vanishes, and the starknife falls to the ground. There isn't any gore on Guthruc's club, either, which is mildly disappointing.
So as I understand it, ONLY Ozzy's square and the elemental's have burned. The surrounding squares will burn next round. In that case...
That's my understanding. Though, just to clarify, the squares that Iorskan burned through are also on fire, and adjacent squares to those will burn next round.
Mr. Winky moves further into the room, lashing out at empty air to try and locate the wizard.
He doesn't find Sneeg, but he does find the wizard's desk in the corner of the room. It's piled high with books and looseleaf papers, as well as copious amounts of glassware. Scattered on it also are what appear to be the shells of eggs, leathery and squishy like turtle eggs, with holes punched in them and their fluids drained, deflated like water balloons.
The comfortable armchair behind the desk was built to recline, and is buried in a mess of blankets.
Meanwhile
Nugrah's eyes go wide, his face contorts with loathing. "Bokken." Throwing himself at the bars, he shouts, "that was fifty years ago! I was a kid, just a dumb kid!"
He turns away from Abaos to face the darkness of his cell, and mutters, "Just like Bokken to hold a grudge fifty years . . ." oblivious to the irony of the statement.
Bright Awn is up.

Guthruc Shic'la |

Mr. Winky moves further into the room, lashing out at empty air to try and locate the wizard.
Winky=Wings
Blinky=Beat-stick
Bright Awn |

Awn grapples with his current problem. He's been approaching this all wrong. Rather than try to escape like water, he tries to force, like a root bursting rock...
CMB: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 [+1 from second sight]
He frees himself, then attempts to move...but finds himself still rooted to the spot.
CMB: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

DM_Scholar |

No keyboard today, it seems. Can’t ask anyone to update the map for me, either, because of all the complications with the fire, plus more combatants entering the fight. So I’ll describe things the best I can, and update the map sometime later.
The noxious cloud has completely dispersed at this point, revealing the chaos and burning spiderweb to everyone.
Right where the dretch vanished appears a similarly sized and shaped creature made of earth and stone.
The disembodied high pitched voice that had given instruction to the fire elemental speaks again.
The small earthy thing vanishes into the ground. Withdraw action into the ground with earth glide, doesn’t provoke.
Meanwhile Happs Bydon keeps pulling at Patton’s arm.
Aid Another: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Patton: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Sally: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
When it becomes obvious that the two less experienced brigands won’t be making it out of the conjured web in time to escape the fire, there’s a moment’s indecision on Happs Bydon’s face.
Only a moment’s.
grapple to move through webs: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Wow. These bandits can’t roll worth crap.
The fire spreads from the squares ignited by the fire elemental and Iorskan. The webs produce hot and smokeless fire.
Bright Awn: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6 At least you’re free of the webs now.
Sally: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7
Patton: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5
Bydon: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6
The smell of flesh burning and people crying out in pain fills the enclosed space.
Bydon’s leather cloak and hood protects him from the worst of the flames. 3/4 health left Patton and Sally aren’t so lucky; thoroughly ensnared in the inflammable strands they were roasted alive, hair and flesh burning away, though they cling to life still. 2-4 hitpoints left
stinking cloud: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
The butcher of badger’s glade still hasn’t recovered from the noxious gas, and her own flesh-smoke didn’t help matters. She lies moaning on the ground. Today is not her day. :/
Meanwhile Nugruh croaks out something in Druidic, casting a spell on himself. His withered old skin turns to wood and sprouts small branches, he looks not dissimilar to Bright Awn now.
Meanwhile From within Nugruh’s cell a deep voice calls out. It’s shouting what seems to be an incantation, words spoken as quickly as possible with nary a stop for breath. Sneeg could have had a great career as an auctioneer, but he rather chose to use his gift for ill; summoning evil monsters. As standard actions, no less.
Suddenly and unpleasantly sharing a square with Abaos are 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 cat sized eyeballs with spiked plates of eyeball armor.
A single eye peers from behind the armor plates and keen-edged blades that compose the cage-like exterior of this tiny flying orb.
Their gaze is quite unnerving. Everyone within 30 feet of the eyeballs needs to make four DC 9 will saves or become shaken for one round for each that they fail.
The worst part about Kytons (besides that they love torture and are just all around awful) is that they don’t die. Even if you pull them apart and scatter them all over, they just pull themselves back together again.
The deep voice, having concluded it’s casting, issues orders to his minions, with that same auctioneer rapidity.
“I’ve no time to micromanage you, so I’ll leave you to your own discretion. Attack targets of opportunity, but bear the following heuristic in mind; prioritize those in fighting condition over those who are not, prioritize those near death over those who are not, prioritize those casting spells over those who aren’t, prioritize the little girl using goggles as a headband, she is a summoner and when she dies so will her summoned beast, and, all other things being equal, kill the man closest you. Dovan was a friend.”
The spiked orbs tear into Abaos, the man closest them.
gore: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
gore: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
gore: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
gore: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
If one of those hit, you’re now taking 1d2 bleed on your turns.
“Choose separate targets where viable!” the wizard complains to his minions, before going silent.
Everyone’s up, make sure to denote what round you’re acting on.

Ozara "Ozzy" |

That all changes the landscape significantly. I strongly suggest that nobody take their action before we get the updated map, and Ozzy has a chance to tell everyone what she knows about that summons. Meanwhile, see discussion thread.

![]() |

I believe I should get a standard action, since weird things actually did happen and I readied an action to open the doors to the cage if we found out Sneeg really was in the cage (which he was). Not that that changes anything, necessarily, but I did want to make certain that happened.
One hit, 3 damage and 1d2 bleed each round- yay!
Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13
Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11

Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16

Iorskan |

Everything was happening! Everything! But to Iorskan he had one issue and one issue only. How does one eat fire?
Bite Elemental: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Damage: 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
He took a tentative snap but thought better of it. This was foolish! He’d kill it, let it cool down, and THEN eat it. Pleased with his obviously genius level intellect, he savaged it with his claws.
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Damage: 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

Round 3?
The enemy was invisible, so guthruc exits rage to think to himself
the snakes I caught seemed to know I was there before they actually saw me. They must have a strong sense that allows this. I shall consume and acquire that sense!
He proceeds to retrieve one of his bags o' snake as a standard action. He cautiously removes the snake from the bag.
handle animal to know how to handle a snake so it doesn't bite me: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
And apparently guthruc doesn't know these things... he grabs the snake dead center of its body like one might grab a wizard staff that wasn't actually a wizard staff.

Ozara "Ozzy" |

Round 4, right?
Will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Will: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 1 - 2 = 17
Will: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 1 - 2 = 14
Will: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 1 - 2 = 15
As the putrid haze lifts and the webs burn away, Ozzy is shocked to see four Auger Kytons appear around Abaos. The sight of the Auger Kytons worries Ozzy. More than their presence, the fact that they're fighting someone with the ability to summon four of them at once worries her, but she also knows that she can't kill them. Her only option is to try to contain them until the magic that brought them to this plane expires, so she drops her spear and pulls her blanket from the strap where it is attached to the outside of her pack. Stepping toward Abaos, she then attempts to tangle them all up in it before they have a chance to spread out. Abaos, duck!
Combat maneuver?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
I'm not sure if you want to treat that as a grapple check or an attack with an improvised net (one that will block their gaze attacks). In either case, since they share a square, and the blanket covers a space larger than that, it seems reasonable that she should be able to target all of them with such an attack.

Mr Blinky |

Round 4, I think.
If Mr. Blinky had higher intelligence, he might look around for a source of dust or liquid that he might use to reveal the wizard's location. He's smarter than he looks, but not that smart. He takes a 5ft step and blindly attacks 3 more squares.
Bite north: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 171d2 ⇒ 11d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Claw northeast: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 191d2 ⇒ 21d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Claw south: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 121d2 ⇒ 11d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Ozzy then has another thought. Jutting her chin out to indicate the blanket, she says Cover up the gate!
The idea is to block lines of effect from inside Nugrah's cell, which really does seem to have another wizard inside.
Then she turns her head toward the stairs. And somebody block the exit. These guys are invisible!

Blankets! That’s the best part of pen and paper games, I think, the use one gets out of blankets and lantern oil.
Whether we count it as a combat maneuver or an attack with an improvised weapon against touch AC, a roll of eighteen on the die is enough to entangle an Augur.
However, it’s my understanding that you need to take a standard action to retrieve a stored item. That’s the rule that’s making it so slow for Guthruc to retrieve (and presumably eat) his snake, after all. So you’ll have to save that roll for next turn. :(
At Guthruc:
You didn’t give me time to set a DC for picking a snake up, but I don’t suppose it matters. The snake bites at you, failing to penetrate your armor. You hold the wriggling serpent in your hand.

The blanket is readily-accessible, strapped to the outside of the backpack (because it doesn't make sense to put it inside)... It's not like she has to dig through the pack for it. I would think it would be equivalent to drawing a weapon...

Ozara "Ozzy" |

That's an interesting point. Since Iorskan can spray flames (by non-magical means), and those flames would require fuel, can Iorskan spray the flammable fuel without igniting it on the way out? That might be useful at some point.
Speaking more practically (for our current problems), those flames, not unlike a visible gas, liquid or powder spread across a room, should show a void where they hit something invisible.

Works for me! I imagine Guthruc’s snake bag is much the same, since he doesn’t have a backpack. So, Guthruc, go ahead and take another standard action!
Ozzy, how do you plan to net Abaos’ whole square without netting the bloke himself? If he has time and warning to dodge, so do the Kytons.
