I'm trying to compose an intro story like Noro's, but I'm getting a little blocked. Maybe it'll break loose soon.

*edit*

New page! Woot!

Here we go. Not perfect, but good enough for a discussion tab intro.

Olivius Telraven was back in his room. His feet sunk in the deep crimson carpets and the entire house smelled of the roast that was being prepared in the kitchens. He walked to the door leading out into the polished marble upper halls where he was confronted by his second older brother, Avaran.

He shook his head to clear the memory. Avaren was one of the more cruel of his siblings, and he preferred to leave all memories of that sick boy buried. His feet were getting sore.

He had been standing watch over the caravan circle all day in the glaring sun. All because Glinter was paranoid. Sandpoint may be a small town, he had lectured, but that doesn't give us permission to be off our guard. Now stand there and keep your eyes open. That's what I pay you for, right? Olivius only grunted and almost laughed in his face, but quickly shut it up. The guard hadn't been paid since the end of last trip. The deal was half start: half end, but Glinter was short this round.

AFter a glare at the other guards, Glinter had stormed off into his wagon. He was probably counting his coin and drinking again. Glinter was always in his wagon now a days. It's a wonder this last expedition hadn't fallen apart. Three days into the Mushfens and they had been waylaid by goblins. Not the feral, unreasonable kind. It was Griphook the Pustule and his clan. They liked to threaten and squeak, but they backed down when the guard formed up.

Except this time they didn't. For some reason they charged the circle. Stupid beasts. Half were shot dead before they even made it close to the circle. The rest were dispatched easily enough. Except for Griphook. He hung on and bit snarled and swung that dangerous Horse Chopper of his about, wounding two men before Olivius's spear found his neck.

That's why they were back so soon, barely a month after leaving since last time. Glinter wouldn't risk going after the larger Frogmen communities with a pair of wounded guards. Therefore, they couldn't afford any of the guards.

Olivius still had a couple score gold in his pouch from last pay day, so he wandered the streets and pubs. A curious and lively crowd was packing Sandpoint for the opening of the new big church or something. Olivius just liked the new faces.

As he was walking past a warehouse dockside where a tumble between a tiny girl and a big bouncer was just getting warmed up, he noticed that he was being followed. Or meybe not. He circled the block just to be sure, and his tail followed. Quickly, he tried to move uptown, to more brightly lit streets and his caravan friends, but it was no use. One more block up and he was forced into an ally way. He tried to run through, but men appeared at the other side.

His shield and spear came up, ready to fend off a mugging. The men, now four in all, charged at him with chains and a mancatcher. Olivius caught the slaver's tool on his shield and stepped inside its reach. He then reversed his grip on his spear and drove the butt up under the catcher's chin, loosing some teeth and sending him sprawling. The others, obviously not expecting much resistance, tried to rush him all at once, but wherever they struck, Olivius was there with shield or spear. After only a few seconds, all were bloodied and gloaning on the pavement. By this time, the leader had gathered his senses, and delivered his message.
Olivius Telraven, you are hereby ordered by your father, Lord Tolus Albright Valerianar Telraven and Commander Garen Steelboot of the Asmodean Academy of Military Sciences to return to your post at the Academy for disciplinary action. Your desertion has left a smear upo...
He never finished as Olivius quickly stepped to the side and touched his short spear to the man's chest.
I don't care what my father or the Commander say. I'm not going back. I never will. I will be a mage! I will practice and I will do it. Then they'll see that I was right. And you can tell them that.
He leaves the men there with their wounds and continues his walk back to the caravan. But he can't help it. He feels like he's being watched.
After four blocks he finally dared a glance behind him. An empty street met his gaze.

Ahahaha! Many thanks!

Regarding deities, is it any surprise that our dashing bard is a Caileanite? No? Didn't think so.

Good to know I'm not the only young'n here. 22, played D&D for two weeks when I was 16, read the books obsessively, started DMing Legacy of Fire this February. I've been in two real-life Pathfinder games (one's a core-only, 15-point-buy homebrew in which I'm a pyromaniacal, easily-distracted gnome sorcerer; the other was a stupidly overpowered, 40-point-buy, double WBL, anything-goes, fast-and-loose with the rules drunken pirate homebrew), as well as one *ahem* Pokemon tabletop game. I'm currently in 4 other active PBPs. I'm still slowly getting the hang of it all, so if I botch something, don't be afraid to point it out (gently).

And since we're getting into the spirit of intro posts, I happened to whip something up last night in which the dashing young bard has a somewhat terrifying experience. I imagine it taking place, also, the night before the festival.

Horatio woke in the night to someone’s lips against his ear. He smiled sleepily, making a small pleased noise in the back of his throat.

The lips moved to his neck, becoming more insistent now. “Wake up,” Flynn’s voice whispered, and Horatio smiled again, rolling over onto his back.

Flynn was above him, already leaning down to kiss him again. Their lips met, and Horatio allowed himself to melt in his lover’s arms, making no move to stop Flynn as he began to unbutton his shirt.

Then Flynn stopped. His eyes glazed over. Horatio frowned. “Are you alright?” he asked carefully. Flynn’s hands had turned cold as ice, and their grip on his shirt was too tight for him to wriggle from.

Then something poked out of Flynn’s eye, and Horatio gasped in terror. A spider crawled from his tear duct, one leg at a time, and scuttled away across his face. Then Flynn’s jaw fell open with a sound like a rusty hinge, and a swarm of spiders vomited themselves out onto Horatio’s chest.

He screamed, trying to bat them away, but Flynn’s skull was already tilting back, and hairy black legs were poking from between his jaws. A huge spider, the size of a small child, was crawling up from his throat, dragging with it a slew of tiny potion vials, which fell clinking to the bed, rising up in piles. The dream spider’s legs twitched, and its fangs dripped poison, burning holes in Horatio’s chest, and the fangs were flying for his face –

He sat bolt upright in bed, just managing to choke back a scream. He swallowed the scream before it could escape, breathing heavily. He was soaked in cold sweat, the thin sheets clinging to his body. He patted his own chest, just to check. No holes. No spiders. He breathed a sigh of relief.

“Horatio?” The sleepy voice at his side almost drew another scream from him, but he managed to choke this one back, too. “Are you alright?”

He looked down at the half-asleep form of Shira, the lady from the tavern. A lonely soul, like himself, looking for some company for the night and nothing more. “Yes... yes, I’m fine. A bad dream, is all.”

“Did you want to go again? Take your mind off it?” she murmured, running a hand lazily over his back. Normally he’d have welcomed it, but right now, her fingers felt too much like spider legs for comfort, drawing a shudder from him.

“Not now, no,” he sighed, taking a swig from the glass of water at the bedside. “I think I need a walk." She nodded sleepily.

"I'll be here when you get back."

The bard nodded, pulling on his clothes. A few moments later, he was gone.

I just got something typed up for this discussion intro. Leaves it open for us to start running into each other too, I think.

------------------------------

It was just another day to her, just another small town. Just another bit of corruption she knew she had to alleviate. That’s basically all it really boiled down to at this point, she knew that it was impossible to wipe out evil altogether, it was just her job to trim the hedges. Sandpoint. She had only just arrived with little more knowledge than the opening of a new church and a festival both just days away. It was just a bit more than a coincidence to her.

She sat quietly at the stool she decided to call her own within this quaint enough inn, her dark hood pulled over her face and her robe hiding her studded leather armor. She wasn’t large and the only weapon she sported in public was her bow, but her mysterious presence drew more attention than she was hoping. She was trying too hard.

“New to town are ye? What can I get for you?” The bartender’s words flooded into her ears, interrupting her thoughts.

“I’ll take water, thanks.” Her demeanor was nice enough, but the bartender wasn’t impressed. She didn’t even bother to make eye contact and, well, water just wasn’t a fun enough answer. “Water? Surely you could use an ale, outsider. I imagine it has been quite a walk.”

Slowly, she raised her head to peer through her hood at the bartender, revealing jet black bangs and dull gray, almost faded blue, eyes. “I must remain focused. I’ll have a water.”

Her voice was calm, but every word was backed by more conviction than most knew to describe. Knowing she would not change her mind, the bartender decided it was best not to remain insistent. Grabbing an ale mug, the bartender begins pouring some recently boiled and chilled water into a mug for the stranger.

“So, are you here for the festival?” The bartender spoke with a curious tone that he had used many times before. “You could say that. I’m here to see what happens.”

Upon receiving her drink, she wasted little time relieving her thirst. Leaving behind a silver coin, she stood and began walking toward the door.

“It’s awfully late, stranger. Be careful”
”I can handle myself. Thank you. I just need to forget.” Her tone was that of legitimate appreciation, not of sarcasm.
”Won’t you at least say your name?”
”Victoria. White Assassin.”

She walked out of the door. As she walked down the street, she whispered her tenets to herself. A paladin would have never ran away. Just like they didn’t. Just as none of them did.

I just meant my intro post. I used 'White Assassin' and I can't edit the post. But that's what I'll call myself until [insert self-realizing plot material here] happens. Even though I have achieved 'paladin-hood', I have to prove it to myself before I introduce myself as a paladin. That sort of thing.

Curiosity: DM-Salsa, would you allow Eastern Armors? I don't want a set now, but for future reference. There's a particular set calling my name...

Kassen Battle Maps

And so it begins.

Feel free to sak any OOC questions here and IC questions in the game thread.

One thing I'd like to note. If I move on from something and you'd liek to play it out, I prefer that you use Flex-timing to avoid slowing the game. So if you'd like to discuss refining with the dwarven princess after I've moved on to tackling the tubermen raiding the molepeople, the post would look like this.

At the Princess' boudoir
pillowtalk about ore smelting.

At the tuberman camp.
Making mashed taters and glazed carrots.

The labels need to be obvious and clear so I know what is what and when we switched, because I don't need to be any more confused than I will likely be anyway.

(And some the places my mind goes late at night...)

Not a problem. In the off chance that you're interested, it's Kikko Armor. It would make excellent mithral armor for someone trying to balance check penalty and active AC if you have medium armor proficiency.

I'm far from complaining since it's no one's fault, but I was typing up a post in response to Noro and Akisame got to it first. Hence the confusion.

Oh, on the bardic performance stuff, be my guest. ;) I was wondering mainly because it’d let Pavanna take a Perform skill of her own for RP stuff and earning some additional coin of her own. Either or, I guess. I plan on giving him a few ranks in both singing and dancing at some point, but it's hard to play violin and sing at the same time so that might make more sense? *shrug* As for sheet music, yep, he reads it (and composes it, he'll have you know), and would probably be more than happy to provide private lessons. :P

Lol I was considering taking some ranks in perform Wind instrument. We could turn our whole party into a wandering band if others would take up performances. Just a thought

Male Human (Chelaxian) Bard 3
Quick stats:
AC 14, T12, FF12; HP 21/21; F +2, R +5, W +3 (+4 vs. bardic performance, sonic, language-dependant); CMD 14; Init +2; Perc +6; SM +5; Bardic performance 18/18 rounds remaining; Spells 1st-level 2/4 remaining

The bard approves! (As long as no-one becomes a better performer than him, because that and his pretty face are all he's got going for him.)

Female Human Barbarian 5
Spoiler:
AC 15 (11); FF 13 (9); T 10 (6) | HP 13 / 55 (24/70) | For +6; Wil +1; Ref +3 | Perc +8; Init +2
