Rhoswen removes the rope from her backpack. "I can tie up at least one of them with this." She sets about doing it.
"Do we want to just leave them tied up? Wouldn't it be best to put these things out of commission first?"
Once they're tied up, Rhoswen will draw her blade, ready to attack the helpless constructs should someone else give the word.

![]() |

Ali is going to go back to the alchemist's room and find a few empty vials and a bit of twine to make a sort of cowbell to put around the constructs' necks, so that the party can hear the jingling of glass if the constructs wake up and start to move.

"Good work. No way these will sneak up on us now...between the ropes, bells and of course my ninja training." the. Dwarf slaps his broad belly and then turns to sneak off like a ninja...almost tripping in the process.
"Oh, that's where I dropped those ." as he picks up his axe and hammer.

Lets check the ruined workshop to the west before moving north, I think I saw a door over there. Rufus says moving to the side room and searching it for traps, valuebles and secret passages.

DM Rah |

Moving to the western chamber you find an ancient workshop. It looks as if some years ago something broke loose and tore the place apart before ripping a hole in the eastern wall, which you know leads through the spider's lair. Broken tools and implements appear to have pulled from the ruined remnants of this chamber and sorted into various piles. The south wall of this chamber contains a large iron door with a particularly complicated lock.
As Rufus begins to check the area for danger, Grimdoc and Sark notice movement from a pile of junk off to the right. As pieces of tools tumble away it is revealed as another statue, similar to those now tied up in the previous room. This one's eyes glow, along with a crystal in the center of its chest.

Sark's Acid: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Rufus' arrow bounces off the hard surface of the statue, as does Ali's magic. Rhoswen's strike comes in at a bad angle and doesn't land solidly. Sark hits it with another flask of acid, but it seems resistant to that as well.
The only attack that seems to do any real damage is from Grimdoc with his hammer.
Swarmholio pushes his way towards the front. "Bah! A statue? Boring!" He gestures and sends a burning ray at it. The attack hits it, but only leaves a small scorch mark.

GM, I believe energy attacks will do 1/2 damage - so the fire and acid.
Rhoswen grunts from the statue's slam. "Ugh, damn construct!" She moves to flank the thing with Grimdoc and tries again to slice into it.

GM, you're right. I thought I had posted an update of what I found, but I was wrong. So yeah, it's even harder to do damage with energy-based attacks vs. hardness. This is gonna be a slog.

![]() |

why is it getting hardness, thought constructs had DR not use the material hardness acid used to bypass hardness which is why it was always higher level spells because of it, when they made all the enengy attacks the same level they too away the coolness of acid

Rhoswen fails to land a solid blow.
Rufus moves and prays for blessings to aid the group.
Ali prepares a wand.
Grimdoc takes the statue on one-on-one, proving to be a better combatant for the moment when he puts a large dent in its head.
"I will let you handle this. No need for the Great Swarmholio to waste his magic on practice dummies!" Swarmholio steps back, pretending the fight is beneath him.
Anything from Sark?

![]() |

doesnt that make animated objects more powerful then golems? I mean DR doesnt protect against energy attacks or all the stuff hardness does. Never understood why they get hardness and golems dont. Hmmm not much i can do guys...
Sark just shrugs "Not much i can do against this guys, lets just keep master dwarf healed until he finishes it off!"

DM Rah |

Sark, just because you can't damage the statue doesn't mean you can't help in some way. Anyway, moving on.
The statue continues slamming its fists at the nearest intruder, this time focusing on Grimdoc. The dwarf proves tougher than previous targets though, and the fist bounces off his armor.

And with two great blows from Grimdoc and Rhoswen the statue breaks into pieces, joining the rest of the junk scattered about the chamber. The crystal built into its chest, the source of the magic that powers it, pulses wildy and shatters.
COMBAT OVER
Though there are no functioning items left in this room, there are raw materials and items suitable for repurposing. The various cogs, gears, and tools in this room are worth a total of 1,000 gp, though the whole lot weighs more than 500 pounds.
The south wall of this chamber contains a large iron door with a particularly complicated lock. A plate on the wall next to the door is etched with the words "Enigma Vault".
The key taken from Krenar opens this door, but the passage and stairs descend into a new section of Thornkeep. Before descending, you should probably report your findings back to the Pathfinder Society.
The Enigma Vaults is the next module in the series. There are still a couple areas left on this level. Where to?
