So, this popped into my head today. Lucius is forming a long term goal of getting the Order of the Godclaw back to Mendev to help rein in the chaos. One way to represent that, mechanically, is to take the Leadership feat to gain a Hellknight cohort.
But Leadership is a contentious feat at best, so I thought it might be a good idea to ask opinions about it, long before we reach 7th level (or rather 9th level, which will be the first time after 7th level Lucius is eligible for a feat).
(Actually, for WotR, we might have the opposite problem of most parties with Leadership: rather than an overpowered almost-party-member, dragging a non-mythic cohort around might be a good way to get them dead.)

I have no strong feelings. I tend to think it's a pain in the butt having an extra character, but I think that's probably less of a problem in PBP (though perhaps still a pain for the GM; I know I get tired of my campaign where everyone has animal companions which means that much more adjudicating on my end).

I don't have a problem with it with players I trust. I would trust anyone at this table to take it.
But I will second that caution for non-mythic characters...enemies WILL be intelligent a lot of the time in this AP so that cohort will be fair game.
But it IS a cool idea :)
Pirate Rob - we've got your weather right now! Actually I wouldn't mind living in Eureka or Crescent City.
Motteditor - SF is one of the most expensive places on earth...bear that in mind. I'm also planning a honeymoon and we are trying to figure out if we want to go to South America or Tahiti or...or....or...

Well, 9th level is a long ways away. Lucius will probably start casting summon monster at level 5 or 6. So we can see how they fare, both in terms of being useful and in terms of not bogging the game down (or stealing the spotlight) before making a decision.
I'm also eyeballing the Diabolist prestige class, but Lucius is pretty squishy. I think I need the favored class hit points more than I need an imp.

It makes spell casting in combat a little tricky for me since I need 1 hand for the banner and the second hand for my rapier. Juggling hasn't been too much of a problem for me so far, but I imagine some encounters it will make my life more difficult, and there was at least once where I would have prefered to cast a spell but just attacked instead do to the handedness issue.

Sure I'm fine with you switching Thom. Maybe once Aero gets a steed to hold his banner :)

Sorry all, my fiance is in surgery right now (nothing serious) but I likely won't have a post until tomorrow afternoon PST. Sorry for the last minute notice!

Starting in the next day or so I'm putting together a small group (2-5) to play Microscope as a pbp. It's a GMless cooperative world building RPG. No experience/book ownage is necessary, the Amazon reviews are pretty good if you're curious about the concept.
If any of you are interested I'd be delighted to have you along.

Here is the opening post for Microscope, I'll be adding more shortly. So far I've got 3 of us and am hoping to get one more player.

No its my fault! Thank you for accommodating though!

Also, is Saoirse obviously identifiable as a Crusader by her weapons or clothing? It's important to how Thom would deal with her.
Saoirse is obviously identifiable as a holy warrior at least. Her shield has the symbol of Iomedae embossed on it but her armor and clothes are very normal with no real iconography. If Thom noticed her eyes glowing when she was searching the room that would easily be identified as detect evil by a cleric I think.

Sorry gang, I was called upon to do some construction work on Friday, Saturday, and church all day Sunday so I wasn't able to post! Resuming...

You know, I just realized that. I don't know I keep thinking that Lucius is arcane. I'll adjust accordingly from now on.

Probably because he's a sorcerer with a scholarly bent. It makes him act more like a wizard.
But don't worry too much about adjusting things. Spellbooks are objects that exist in the world, and they still have value. (For instance, having the Riftwardens think him humble, or having Aravashnial owe him a favor are still benefits.)
| DM Pendin Fust |
Alrighty...and those favors just may come into play some day...
| Thom. |
I'd say Thom could make better use of that morningstar, but I got to start the game with level 2 equipment loadout, and Thom's made good use of the cold iron one that he has... so he's good. :)
As for the armor. If we want to sell it, I'm sure Thom could be persuaded to lug it around.

It probably wouldn't hurt to get Nebbin a slashing/piercing weapon to carry as a backup at some point, but I plan to take legendary weapon at our next mythic tier. I'm going to pimp out this hammer so much that Mjolnir ain't gonna have nothing on it! :)
