Iskender |
One of them also had an odd flat glass thing that, when you touch it, makes an image appear in the air of the three of you.
Iskender holds up the flat glass thing and observes, ”I’m much better looking in person. You think this thing is like some techno wanted poster?”
Kit 'Skylark' Bridger |
Me wanted by the law? Never! Never I tell you! Kit says with a chuckle to Iskender.
@DM: For clarification: The klaven came out of the carts and the carts are being driven by four-armed creatures?
GM_Almonihah |
No--there's a single large cart, drawn by a strange creature, that two of the klaven were leading. There's *also* a string of large beasts of burden that have been ignoring all of the excitement and continuing on their slow way across the marketplace, that are being led by some four-armed creatures. They seem to have been studiously ignoring the whole situation.
Iskender |
"I says that we ignore them as are ignoring us, collect up this crap, and get out of here. Is anyone wounded?" Iskender thinks for a moment before adding, "Of course, as Dilwyn had suggested, perhaps the things will keep spawning, and we can keep killing them. Some of these weapons are worth real money."
@GM - I don't suppose there is anyone in this market selling spurs ammo, or buying up MW klaven weapons?
Dilwyn Blevins |
Sorry for the slight disappearance, been a hectic few days.
Dilwyn cracks his neck. "I'm a bit dizzy, but I don't think I'm seriously hurt. I would guess that they were trying to knock me out rather than kill me. Anyway, they don't seem to be spawning anymore, so I'll help you with that beast, Kit. Hopefully it will respond if I treat it like I would expect a horse or a mule."
Wild Empathy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
As he goes up to it, hands out, he projects an aura of calmness and confidence toward the beast, and then starts gently stroking it at what looks the most like a neck. He also offers it bits of various types of food from what's left of his rations to see what it likes. "Come on, gal," he coos. "You get to come with us now. No more of those nasty Klavens using you like a slave. Would you like to come with us, gal?"
Dilwyn Blevins |
"Yes, let's," Dilwyn agrees. He tries to gently lead and steer the creature in the direction that they can now resume travel, seeing as they are no longer under attack. "I think it might be overly complicated to try to keep her, considering our own nomadic nature at the moment. We'd all probably be better off selling her into the company of someone who we think will treat her well."
GM_Almonihah |
The cart has a big piece of canvas stretched across its top--as if to hide its contents.
When you pull this off to start putting stuff in it, you see it's already mostly full. Two beings are tightly tied up and lying unconscious within it, as well as a large lockbox.
New party members, feel free to describe yourselves. You're currently unconscious, but will wake up if treated or naturally in a few minutes.
Iskender |
Iskender covers the wagon again quickly. Wolf whistles loudly and says, ”Umm, guys, there’s a trunk back here. We hit the jackpot. Oh, and don’t act funny, but there are a couple unconscious bodies. Enemy of my enemy and all, they could make allies.”
Kit 'Skylark' Bridger |
I have been known to wake up in the back of a strange wagon a few times. Kit says with a chuckle. Usually without clothes!
Kit walks over and peeks into the wagon. I say anyone the klaven don't like is a friend of mine!
Dakkar. |
Dakkar is grey-scaled with slight coppery tints, has a bulky, but still humanoid build, and has sharp claws, taloned feed, a pair of small but muscular wings, a long tail ending in a slightly curved bone blade, and a reptilian head with a mouth full of sharp teeth and a pair of short horns. His tail twitches periodically as he sleeps fitfully, and has left a number of scratch marks on the interior of the wagon near it.
Vashi |
Vashi lay curled into a ball. Her pink attire is adorned with skulls and gold spikes and her long pink and black hair is tangled. Her wings are crumpled and torn, but she seems to sleep peacefully.
Dilwyn Blevins |
"Oh, crap," Dilwyn says, goggling at their apparently-rescued prisoners. "They look quite strange, but for them to be transported like this likely means they are enemies to the Klaven that they captured before getting to us. It's worth entertaining the idea that an enemy to an enemy is worth knowing, or at the very least keeping anyone out of the clutches of those brutes is worth it. In either case, I think we're still in pretty fine condition ourselves and if we have to fight, we at least out-number them. I'm going to wake them up now, be ready in case this turns out badly." Assuming agreement, he goes ahead and casts a cure light on each of the unconscious forms.
Cure Light Dakkar: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Cure Light Vashi: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Kit 'Skylark' Bridger |
As Dilwyn casts his healing spells, Kit remarks, She looks just a tad friendlier than he does! He spaces his thumb and index finger less than an inch apart. A tad I tell you!
Dakkar. |
Dakkar's eyes snap open in an instant, and he immediately rolls to his feet in a battle-ready stance. However, upon noting that he is not currently imprisoned, and the people in front of him aren't klaven, he refrains from outright attacking.
"...Who are you? No friends of those kidnappers?"
Kit 'Skylark' Bridger |
I am Kit, and these are my compatriots Iskender and Dilwyn. We are definitely not friends of the kidnappers since we are responsible for their current state! Kit says as he points to the battered corpses of the klaven. Now who are you and who is your friend?
Vashi |
Vashi stirred slightly, before sitting up and stretching. "What's going on? I was having such pleasant dreams," she asked, rubbing her eyes and glancing around. "Where's my weapon?"
Dakkar. |
Dakkar looked out at the hacked-up klaven, and continued to consider the situation and how it likely came to pass.
"I am Dakkar. I don't know who she is, beyond being another prisoner of those things. ...Where is this place? It bears no resemblance to where I was before."
Dilwyn Blevins |
Dilwyn gets a rather somber look on his face at the last question. "This may come as a huge shock to you, my friends," he begins. I know it came as a huge shock to us, at first. Some time ago we woke up to discover that we had been captured by the Klaven and that we were no longer on the world we knew, the world we call home. The same thing may have happened to you as well. We have been searching for a way back to our own world for some time, now. Several weeks at least, and it has not been a simple matter. Are you familiar with other worlds beyond your own? If not, then you're discovering the beautiful and terrible truth for the first time, like we are."
Vashi |
Vashi looked at him, as if noticing him for the first time, then shrugged. "That doesn't really make a difference to me. I'll join you, if it means I can hit things with my axe, wherever it went..."
Dakkar. |
Dakkar considered things for a moment.
"That... actually explains several things I've been wondering about. Perhaps I'll be able to find his trail again after all..."
He then looked down at the lockbox, and over at Vashi.
"Hopefully this contains our missing gear. One of you folks a lock-picker, or do we open it the old fashioned way?"
Iskender |
”Have either of you prior experience with the klaven, or knowledge of the interplanetary gate system?” Iskender smiles at himself for successfully coining the term “interplanetary,” at least he thinks he has.
Kit 'Skylark' Bridger |
Kit listens to Dilwyn explain their situation. Gods! Give the man a lute! He summed that up perfectly and beautifully! When asked about a lockpicker Kit laughs, I think we do it the old-fashioned way in this group. He hoists his axe. Are either of you feeling up to it, or do you want me to do the honors?
Unless one of them volunteers, Kit will open the lock "the old-fashioned way"!
Vashi |
"I probably could, if I had my axe. But since it's most likely in the box, I can't really help. " She shrugged, perched on the side of the wagon, and began running her fingers through her hair in an attempt to untangle it.
Dakkar. |
Dakkar tightly clutches each item briefly before putting them on. Well, except for his armor, which he instead shrugs on unceremoniously. The chain shirt looks like it was modified for Dakkar's anatomy rather crudely, and has seen better days.
"This rock is as good as any other to me, really. I'm more for finding more of those guys and tearing them to pieces until I find one that looks like it could give me some answers."
Kit 'Skylark' Bridger |
I'm more for finding more of those guys and tearing them to pieces until I find one that looks like it could give me some answers."
Kit looks down at the ground. We found one that probably had the answers, but he would rather fight us then share so we killed him. Kit says sheepishly.
Dakkar. |
Dakkar shrugged. "Eh, that's fine. There'll be more, and I'll probably shred a couple before getting the knack of non-lethal takedowns myself."
"At least they don't taste too bad. Not good either, though."
Kit 'Skylark' Bridger |
"At least they don't taste too bad. Not good either, though."
Kit raises an eyebrow. I'll have to take your word on that!
He then whispers to Ikender, You can bunk with him!
Dilwyn Blevins |
Dilwyn looks around to see if the general bystanders are still ignoring them. "We should probably move along and continue this conversation on the way to someplace more inconspicuous." He moves back around to the draft animal and proceeds to start to guide it. "Have you been to this city before? We sort of stumbled into owning a street, or something along those lines, on our first or second day here. It would probably be a handy place to get more acquainted, unless others have a better plan."
