My guess is soon I'll be looking for a new job. A few folks at my work apparently felt I wasn't "Management" material and proceeded to make my life pretty miserable. I've stepped down as manager but I see the writing on the wall and would prefer to work somewhere that is less...spirit crushing.

so, to sum up. I ended up with some drow hating on me, I failed a will save and now I have permanent ability damage. (hopefully my next place will have a good healer)

I'm with you, Randall. I applied for a managerial spot years ago, got a second interview and positive feedback, and when guy doing the hiring called me, I found myself saying, "Please, don't let me have been picked for this job." Thankfully, someone else had been selected.

One of those moments of perfect clarity that has served to guide me ever since.

I didn't want the promotion but poor vision by the bank means that when an individual contributor reaches the end of their career path, the next step is management. You know, because everyone is a manager in waiting. Sadly, that means we have some bad managers, one of which is my boss' boss. Micro-manager to the extreme.

Do I say never to not doing any more management positions, no. I might do it again. But my time here at the bank is over, time to move on. If the bad boss had been at least a little decent it might be different and if he had kept his word in places...I would not be considering a scorched earth plan on my exit interview.

Scorched earth is rarely a productive course of action. You might find yourself treading that earth in the future, as unlikely as it may seem.

As for the "everyone is a manager in waiting", have you heard of the Peter Principle? It validates your sarcasm nicely, I think.

I feel no compunction to be a leader. I'm one heck of a righthand for someone that wants to be a leader, though.

So, is there a reason Xiddik gets a +25 to the DC? Is that just going to apply to all non-kobolds she tries to gauge the emotions of, or is there a specific cause in this case?

I will be off the internet for most of tomorrow. Computer problems mean I can't take it to classes with me! Gonna be a boring day, I'm sure—I'll have to use this weird primitive computer from the 3100s called a "book". It doesn't require energy, and while it can break, it's pretty cheap to replace. Not much versatility, unfortunately. :/

All - I will be leaving on Sunday for two weeks of travel for work. I should still be able to post with some regularity, but my schedule will be busy and I'll be many time zones away, so likely won't be posting as much or on the same schedule.

Well, it's clear that Paizo's automated 'don't be a jerk' filter is coming along nicely. I swear I posted something snarky, to the effect that this was not the only game where there was eager scheming to kill me off during my absence and that the others got there sooner, but it didn't take.

Haven't yet - but in my WotW game they're plotting my demise, after I posted saying I'd be traveling for the next couple of weeks. I just meant they got there first in the plotting - you guys could still get there first in the, um, execution.

One test passed, one to go, the A+ certification. Then end of June, probably MTA, then Security+ and Cisco CCENT, which will come after I finish the classes at the end of July.
